Hello Folks, this is the chapter plenty of you have been waiting for. After this chapter, we will have a bunch of minor characters that could perhaps with your vote, become major characters. I, however, am going to need one vote on the current poll before then. Hope you enjoy this!
Scott was going over the final plan with the rest of Oak Agency. It had been more than a week since Maggie and Wilhelm first came to the Oak Agency, and Juan was itching for action.
"So, me, Maggie, Joyce and Haruka go in one car while Juan, Aisha, Ellen and Gavin go in another. After bypassing the security with Victor and Wilhelm's help. Juan, Ellen, Haruka and Maggie will find Katie while Aisha and Gavin make a distraction."
"What about you and Joyce?" asked Aisha.
"I'll be staying with the cars and stopping anybody who messes with our escape plan. As Maggie said, everyone will be on high alert."
"Why do I have to go in? Can't you go in and I guard our escape?" asked Haruka.
"They'll recognize my face, it'll be safer for you to go in."
"Fine, but I need to talk to you about something in private, about the mission."
With that, Haruka stood up and walked away. Scott shrugged. "Well, that's all I wanted to discuss. Anyone want to raise concern?"
"What happens if we're recognized?" asked Gavin.
"You make like a Rapidash and run."
"What if we fail to hack into the Gamma Team's system?" asked Victor.
"Then you notify us and we'll bail."
"What happens if we're cornered after saving my sister?" asked Juan.
"Well then, we'll battle our way to you and try to save both of you. And not leave anyone behind. Anyone have any other concerns?"
Everyone shook their heads. They knew that Scott would get annoyed if they bombarded him with what if situations.
"Good, cause I'll still have to deal with Haruka."
Five minutes later
Scott approached Haruka, who was seated in the common room, reading manga.
"Took you long enough," he said when Scott sat down on the opposite couch.
"You didn't exactly stay nearby. You didn't even tell me where you were going to be."
Haruka put down his manga, the black and white art showing a girl and with a Lopunny behind her. Both were doing hand to hand combat against a lady with a Bisharp in the same position.
"I didn't want anyone else to be present. My bad."
"Well you didn't really pick the most private place."
"No one's here. Let's get it over with. Can you sign my will, I've chosen you as the executor of the will. But I'm going to need your signature."
"Why'd you choose me?"
"Cause you're the person I trust the most. And before you ask, yes one of my parents is still alive. She doesn't like me though."
"Okay, but why do you think a will is necessary?"
"We will enter not only a lair of villains but more dangerous than that we will be close to the demon queen Olivia Cartwright."
"I think you've been reading too many comic books."
"They're manga, and what I'm about to tell you, you cannot tell anyone else. I knew Olivia from before."
Scott gave him a look. "And that's something you should have said earlier."
Haruka ignored the comment. "After they released me from juvie for not doing murder, my mother got a letter in the mail inviting me to the school for rehabilition. Because she still thought I was a murderer, and she still thinks she, she eagerly sent my there. But I quickly learned the school wasn't a school. They were teachers of course, but they taught things that students were supposed to be rehabilitating from. That's when I learned that the school for rehabilitation, was a training center for evil people."
"And you reported this to either the police or the Oak Agency?"
"You weren't allowed to contact people from outside the school, and they made sure of that. But the teachers and the content was the worst part. As I look back, I realize that the school was probably linked to the Gamma Team. Because the teachers, and eventually the students answered to only one. Olivia Cartwright."
Scott looked at him hard. "You're not kidding."
"No, the teachers listened to her every command. And she eventually got most of the students to bend to her will using threats, bullying, and other methods. I thought she was one of those people who are extremely popular to the teachers, but bullies to the students. But I couldn't be more wrong. She was extremely horrible to me, her and that one girl who followed her around like a loyal Pokémon. They put spikes in my bed, across the floor, tripped me at random times, and got other people to beat me up. This didn't only happen to me. Anyone who wouldn't be her subservient puppet had this happen to them. And popular people are no better! Putting other people down because they have a harem of girls which for some reason automatically makes them better than everyone else! His is exa-"
"Okay calm down Haruka, this isn't why you came to me."
Haruka took a deep breath and sighed. "I know, it just makes me angry. Ever since what happened."
"I understand how it feels."
Haruka raised an eyebrow. "You do?"
Scott stared a bit before realizing what he said. "I've heard a lot of stories about it. Let's get ready for the mission."
Haruka stared at Scott as he left, wondering what Scott was hiding.
Thirty minutes later
They stood in the Oak Agency garage, all eight of them wearing Gamma Team clothing. They all had hidden radios to communicate with Wilhelm and Victor. The mic was hidden inside their shirt buttons, while the speaker was inside their ears in a discreet manner.
They gathered into the newly repaired cars, everyone following the plan. Scott took the wheel in one car, while Juan took the other. Thanks to Wilhelm and Victor, both cars could be driven freely.
"Alright everyone, good luck, we'll see you on the other side," said Scott on the microphone..
"We're going in the same direction. Why are you being so dramatic?" asked Ellen.
"You've known me for a few months now. You know I'm anything but dramatic."
They started the cars and drove out of the garage. They turned onto an actual road and started driving faster.
WIlhelm had pointed out the nearest tunnel entrance and put the directions in the built-in GPS system. The entrance was near an abandoned warehouse in a cluster of warehouses.
"Hey, is that a Gamma car?" asked Joyce as a sleek, silver colored car passed them.
"No, that's a Chromium 7C. Pretty fancy car, most common in Barius City." explained Haruka.
"I think the Gamma cars were designed to look like them to not attract attention," said Maggie.
"I didn't know you knew about cars," said Joyce.
Haruka shrugged. "I was interested in them when I was younger. From a long lost age when I didn't fail most times."
"You should see a counselor," said Joyce. "You don't have many symptoms of depression, but feeling hopelessness isn't healthy."
"I was about to protest that I don't feel hopelessness, but I realize I do," said Haruka.
"This is going to be a long ride." sighed Scott.
Twenty minutes later
Juan's car made it to the warehouse first. The car waited parked as Scott's car drove up. Maggie came down from the car and went into the warehouse. Everybody waited for a few minutes. Then, an abandoned crate next to the warehouse opened, revealing a big tunnel. Maggie came out and got back into the car.
They drove into the crate and found themselves in a big, white tunnel.
"This is Scott to mission base, do you read me?" Scott asked through his mic.
"We read you loud and crystal clear captain!" responded Victor. Maybe a bit too loud, but that can always be the clarity on this is amazing, considering that these are-"
"Victor,"
"Much, smaller than the typical-"
"Victor!"
"Oh uhm right! Uh," the sound of Victor rolling away on his chair became apparent over the mic. He started speaking in a whisper. " Hey Wilhelm, what am I supposed to-"
"This is mission control, we read you loud and clear. What do you need?" responded Wilhelm.
"We've reached the tunnels, but we'll need further navigation. Can you activate the GPS for the tunnels?"
"Give me a moment," said Wilhelm.
After a minute or two, the GPS activated on both Gamma cars, directing them to the Gamma main base.
"Alright, thank you. This is Scott Harverd signing out."
They followed the GPS system through the tunnels, but Juan found himself almost taking a wrong turn.
"My head hurts," said Gavin. "All these tunnels are the same and confusing."
"You can say that again." muttered Aisha.
"My head hurts," said Gavin. "All these tunnels are the same and confusing."
Both Ellen and Aisha rolled their eyes at Gavin's attempt to be funny. Juan smiled at both the girl's reactions and Gavin's joke.
"There's a reason both of you are sitting in the back."
"And why would that be?" asked Aisha.
"You're both perfect for each other. You have no sense of humor."
Aisha and Ellen looked at each other and shook their heads as Gavin and Juan laughed in the front.
Twenty five minutes later
Both cars drove up into the main Gamma Team base garage. They parked their cars and got down. Scott tugged down the silver colored cap some Gamma Team members wore.
"Remember everyone, act casual, keep your head down, don't travel in large groups, don't get caught. Gavin and Aisha, you two travel together. Haruka, Juan, you guys get to the science room separately while Maggie and Ellen go together. Good luck, Katie's counting on all of you."
They all nodded and walked out of the garage. They split into the five groups and went in different directions.
"I'll go upstairs before heading downstairs," said Haruka. "Try not to go the same way."
"Glad to see you're committed to this," responded Juan.
"Of course I am, let's go."
Juan walked farther away from Maggie and Ellen, who were having a pleasant conversation about Psyduck. He'd memorized the fastest route to the science lab. He was determined to save his sister no matter what.
He passed many other Gamma Team members on the way to the science lab. As he walked, he passed a place that was packed with people. Someone holding a cup of coffee wasn't looking where he was going and ran into Juan.
"Oh Arceus!" shouted the man as he tried to stop his coffee from spilling. "I'm so sorry about that. Wasn't looking where I'm going. Haven't seen you around here before, what's your name?"
Juan's heart raced, already people were asking who he was. If things kept going like this, he could be discovered.
"Carlos, I'm new here."
" I'm Trevor, what's your story? I joined after I was convicted and jailed unfairly."
Juan thought fast. "My sister died to police raid when we had traveled to Conivy Town."
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know. That place is a crooked town, even worse than Voyanna. Even the Oak Agency doesn't bother with there. All the raids too. There's a reason I like the Oak Agency better than the police."
"Why would you even like the Oak Agency?"
"Well, I said better. Both are extremely low. The reason I like the Oak Agency better is because they rarely have guns, so they won't shoot you if you lower your hands an inch."
"Indeed, I don't understand people using guns at all. And it's literally only the Calzei region. Look everywhere else, Hoenn, Kalos, Galar, that one island region. Even the Mcondal region is void of guns!" exclaimed Juan.
"Yeah, I believe the Calzei region should follow suit and ban guns. But anyways, have you tried the coffee here?"
"Not yet, what about it?"
"Wow, we had such a nice conversation that I forgot you're new. This is the best and only coffee place in the Gamma base. His coffee making skills are legendary, equal to that one guy who ran Sliggoo coffee."
"Huh, but I don't have any money though."
"I'll get you one, come on!"
Juan wanted to find his sister, but he knew declining would raise suspicion. "Thanks, really appreciate it."
Juan and Trevor waited in a moderately long line. The line however, moved pretty quickly. And Juan found himself being asked for his order.
"What would you like?" asked a young, blond man with weird red eyes.
Juan froze, he remembered the person. He'd been taunting him about his sister. He quickly made sure to keep his composure, after all, the entire reason he was here was to save her.
"Hey, have I seen you before?" asked Kazuma.
"Probably not. I'm new. I'd like a black coffee-"
"Ah come on Carlos! I'm fine with you spending my money, get something nicer."
"Oh uh, I never really went to coffee shops. They were too expensive."
"I got this. I would like one large Mcondal styled medium roast with two special creams and three sugars."
"Okay, coming right up!"
Kazuma worked extremely fast. He grabbed a bag of coffee beans and poured it into a grinder. He seemed to be able to measure it simply by looking at it. He set the beans to grind while mixing some premade cream over a hot plate. He poured the ground beans into a straining machine and put a cup under it. He poured boiled water through the machine and poured the cream into a small container. He slid something under the strainer and allowed the coffee infused water to trickle down into the cup. Once finished, he poured the cream into the cup and dumped three sugar cubes into it. He put a cover over the coffee cup and slid it through a serving window with a coffee stirrer. The entire process took less than three minutes.
"One large Mcdonal styled medium roast with two special creams and three sugars."
Juan took the coffee with a smile. "Thanks, that was really fast."
"I have been making coffee since I was ten. About eight yeas now, really got into the coffee business when I was sixteen."
"Well, it was nice seeing you…"
"Kazuma."
"Right, Carlos."
"Alright Carlos, I got other customers waiting."
"Yeah see ya."
Carlos and Trevor walked out of the store together, turning down the hall and continuing they're conversation about gun control.
"I wonder what the other thirteen regions are doing that Calzei can't?" wondered Carlos, sipping his coffee.
"They don't have gangs and evil teams running around I guess. Wait, hold on."
Trevor's phone beeped with a message. He pulled it out and saw it was from one of the mission branch members.
"Shoot, I need to go. Someone from the mission branch are requesting people for a shiny hunt. Not many people available I guess. It was nice meeting you Carlos!" shouted Trevor and he ran down the hall.
"You too Trevor."
Juan looked at his phone, he wasted too much time. He speed walked down the hallway, determined not to get distracted again.
Haruka walked at a brisk pace. He was only a fourth of the way to his destination. He spent most of the time hiding and dodging other Gamma Team members, but that cost a lot of time.
Haruka knew he should hurry up in order to make it on time. But despite his disguise, he didn't want anyone seeing him.
Haruka took a deep breath. "You're doing it for Juan and his sister. He still has a direct family who care about him. They're counting on the least countable person ever."
He passed another Gamma Team member and tilted his hat down, covering his face. He continued down the upper hallways, feeling more and more nervous.
Suddenly, he heard dreadful noises coming from the nearby staircase. He recognized those noises, and froze in place.
"So I was like, what is your problem? The guy just stood there, staring at me like a Deerling in headlights. He was so boring, didn't even scream or threaten to call the police when I brandished my knife. That's when I realized he was from that stupid training Gamma school I had to take charge of a few years ago. So I beat him up, stole his phone, and made sure he wouldn't talk. Fun mission" came a voice that Haruka could only recognize as Olivia.
"Oh I remember that stupid school. The only good thing was torturing the other other students."
"This is why I sometimes like you Molly."
Haruka heard a loud squeal from the top of the stairs.
"I said sometimes! And this is not one of them!"
Haruka snapped out of stupor and whipped around, heading the other way around.
He was scared, he knew that unless Olivia went the other way, she'd see him. He held his breath and prayed to Arceus for her not to turn his way. Arceus apparently did not listen.
"Hey you! Where are you running to?" asked Olivia.
Haruka froze and slowly turned around. "N-Nothing miss anime demon, I mean! Uh, got to go!"
He turned back around and ran through the hall. Fortunately for Haruka, the hallway looped around and would bring him back to the stairs.
As soon as he left their sight, he started running like Mega Sceptile. People glared at him as he ran past them.
Molly turned to Olivia with a frown. "Did you hear him? He called you an anime demon! Want me to beat him up for you? Maybe teach him a lesson with my Charizard."
Olivia smiled. "My dear, dear Molly. Don't worry about it. He just forgot the queen part of his little insult. Trust me, I'm going to have fun snapping his limbs. Out of all the people from the stupid school, I hated Haruka the most. I think him joining the Gamma Team is the best thing that happened to me."
"After me right?" asked Molly.
Olivia gave Molly a withering look. "Don't count on it."
Gavin and Aisha walked through the base, Aisha apparently had a plan to cause a distraction, but she refused to tell Gavin.
"I don't see why you can't tell me the plan," said Gavin.
"Cause I don't trust you enough to not have a calm reaction."
"Oh like that's fair. What about when you start the plan?"
"You'll be able to figure it out."
"Come on! We're a team!"
"Fine, we need to find a Gamma Team member."
"Who is it?"
"Can I trust you to keep a calm reaction?"
"Yes."
"Extremely calm?"
"I said yes, tell me already."
"Devon Manson, he's my boyfriend."
"Devon Mansion, does he have one?"
"Manson! And did you even hear the rest of what I said?"
"Yeah, some boyfriend named, Hold up! Why do we need to find your boyfriend?" asked Gavin with mild alarm.
"He'll help us."
"Are you kidding me? He works for the Gamma Team!"
"Keep it down. He'll help us."
"This is crazy! You could jeopardize the mission!"
"I knew you wouldn't keep calm. Don't worry, he'll help us, he'll do anything for me."
"I hope you're right."
"If you don't want to come, then that's fine."
"No, we stick together. That's what friends do."
Five minutes later
They eventually heard Devon talking to someone somewhere down the hall. As they neared where he was, Gavin froze.
The person Devon was talking to had started speaking. Gavin couldn't make out the words, but he knew the voice.
"That's my sister speaking!" hissed Gavin as he stopped Aisha.
"You hide and wait for her to leave."
Gavin looked down the hallway. It was just an empty stretch of hallway. The closest place was a bathroom all the way at the end of the hallway connecting to this one.
"No chance, I'll just keep my head down. We'll pretend to be in a conversation."
Aisha nodded and they went down the hallway. They saw Devon talking to Gabrielle in front of what looked to be a training room.
"I don't see why you even want to continue your so-called classes. Half the people left and one turned out to be a traitor," said Gabrielle.
"The people who haven't left are learning considerably. You've seen Maggie, look at how much she's improved."
Gabrielle gave a dark laugh. "That's funny, I haven't seen her recently. And whenever I do, she's nervous. And I can understand why. One Gamma Team member goes rogue, what happens if he talks to the authorities. I heard Olivia had to track down and threaten someone who'd cut a deal with the authorities to let him skip jail if he revealed everything he knew about the Gamma Team. Fifteen diffeent people left already."
"In the case of an Oak Agency raid, my teachings will definitely help us beat them."
"And continue using me as your training dummy? I say no thank you."
"Gabrielle-"
"Nope, sorry man. This whole class thing is going to fall apart. Take my word for it."
With that, she turned and walked off. Fortunately for Gavin, she walked in the opposite direction.
Aisha heard him sigh and nodded to Gavin. Gavin gave her a worried look, and followed her.
She tapped Devon on his shoulder, causing him to turn around. He looked at Aisha's face, his eyes growing wide in surprise.
"Aisha, is that you?"
Aisha smiled. "It is Devon."
He looked around and spotted Gavin. "Is he…"
"Yeah he's with me, business reasons of course. We need your help, but I can't say much."
Devon took Aisha's hands. "Tell me what you need and I'll do it."
"We need to create a distraction. Get all the Gamma members into one place."
"Hmm, I've always wanted to try defeating someone from the executive branch. That could draw attention. I'll try getting as many people as I can to watch the battle."
"You can't tell anyone about this." warned Gavin.
Devon ignored him and kissed Aisha on her cheek. "Tell your business partner not to worry. My lips are sealed."
Ellen and Maggie made it to the science wing, and immediately noticed a change. There was a guard in front of the door, making sure the Gamma members had a pass before entering.
"So that's what this was for," said Maggie as she produced a yellow slip of paper. It was from Gwendolyn, who wanted her to test her new serum. On humans, the effects of high energy, strength, and speed lasted for about fifteen minutes, but on Pokémon, it was supposed to provide those effects for an entire day.
They walked up to the guard. "Passes!" barked the guard as they walked up.
Maggie submitted her pass. "My friend is just here to help get through the injection."
"If she doesn't have a pass, she can't go through. Next!"
Since joining the Oak Agency, Maggie had gained a new level of confidence.
"Unfortunately for you, I'm a higher ranking than you. And so is my friend Marlow, who happens to work here as well as with me. So I could easily contact him and say how rude you were. I can also easily ask him to give my friend access, and I'm sure he'll be mad at you if I have to go and bother because some guard didn't take me seriously," Maggie said, keeping a smile on her face the entire time.
"Of course Miss Winters! I'll let you and your friend go through."
The guard let them pass as Ellen looked at Maggie with mild surprise.
"You weren't like that when you first joined."
Maggie shrugged. "I guess I found my people. Anyways, I should probably warn Haruka and Juan about the guard."
Ellen nodded, so Maggie pressed her middle shirt button and started speaking. "There's a guard standing in front of the door requesting passes. Aisha, Gavin, do you have a diversion."
"It'll take effect in a few minutes, we're heading back to the garage," said Aisha.
"Thanks for the heads up," said Juan.
Haruka didn't respond for a moment. "Yay, more ways to get caught. I'm unfortunately being hunted at the moment."
"What happened? Were you discovered?" asked Scott urgently.
"No, the person thinks I joined the Gamma Team. But they're going to torture me if they find me."
"Who is it?" asked Ellen.
"Classified."
"Well then, if you guys are almost in position, we'll ready the device on our end," said Victor.
"Okay, I've got to go, someone approaching.," said Maggie.
Maggie turned off her mic and looked to see a man half running half stumbling towards her. He twitched at random intervals as his arms moved jerkly.
Ellen looked at him in alarm, but before she could say anything. He started speaking to her in a very slurred tone.
"Heydon'tworry'boutme! Ijustgotanoverdoseafterputtingmywieghtwrong butanyways,you'rekindahotwannadatemeafterthiswearsout? I'mnotusuallylikethisjustthestupidserum. Comeonbabyspeaktomewannadateornot. IpromiseyouI'mverylikable-"
Ellen walked past him with her eyes down. Trying to ignore his unintelligible stream of words. Finding herself glad she turned off her mic.
"Okay, they are a few empty laboratories for us to hide in. And um, are you okay?" asked Maggie.
"Just a bit unnerved that's all. He touched me, that serum definitely messed with his head."
Maggie gave her a reassuring look. "Don't worry, you'll never see him again."
Ellen smiled. "So, you're definitely not getting the serum right?"
Maggie rolled her eyes. "And act like that, I'll pass. Now-"
Maggie felt her phone buzz and she took it out. A notification had appeared in the Gamma Team app.
"Look at this, executive branch member Richard Spine is requesting all personnel to appear at the main training center to watch him crush the big headed airhead Devon Manson."
"A bit redundant don't you think?"
Maggie reread the message, realization flashing across her eyes. "I believe that is our distraction."
Juan watched from behind a pillar as he saw a man half stumble, half run out of the room. The guard looked down the science wing and watched as many scientists walked out of the room. Juan flared in anger as he recognized one of them as Marlow Gladwyn.
The guard waited for all the scientists to leave before shrugging and walking away. Juan figured that the distraction Aisha and Gavin planned had taken effect.
He decided on whether or not to wait for Haruka, he decided to wait in case the guard wasn't fully gone.
Juan turned on his mic. "Haruka, where are you?"
"I'm almost to the science wing. A bunch of scientists and a guard just passed me so I hid in an office."
"Okay, you're almost there. I'm waiting for you."
"Thanks." the noise of Haruka moving filled the mic. After a while, Haruka spoke again. "I'm there, where are you?"
Juan stepped out from behind the pillar, causing Haruka to leap back in surprise.
"Holy Arceus and his thousand hands! Where did you spring from?"
Juan rubbed his ear painfully. "Nice, next time turn off your mic before swearing."
Haruka gave him a placid look. "I'll remember that. If someone startles you, make sure all communication devices are turned off before reacting in surprise."
"I agree with Juan," said Aisha over the mic. "Last thing I need are ruined eardrums."
Other people agreed with Aisha. Haruka rolled his eyes and switched off his mic.
"Let's go before the entire Oak Alpha turns against me."
Juan smiled and they turned to the entrance, Haruka frowned when he didn't see any guard.
"The diamond gates are free, but yet I have a bad feeling about entering. What do you say Senpai?"
Juan gave him a quizzical look.
"It's from The Spirits Within. You guys seriously don't read manga, y'all missing out."
"Well you manga is irrelevant right now. So, should we go, or wait."
Haruka knew that Juan was giving options, but he knew Juan would want to rush ahead to save his sister.
"Well Diana went ahead and entered, and she was perfectly fine. I don't see why we can't go."
Juan nodded and they crossed into the science wing. Haruka held his breath, but nothing happened.
"See, my manga was relevant. We made it."
"We're almost there. Nothing can go wrong now."
Haruka groaned. "Now look at what you've done. Something is bound to go wrong.
The executive branch leader sat at his desk, monitoring the main training room on his computer. He heard a knock on the door and raised an eyebrow.
"Come in."
The door opened and Elaine Marron walked in. The executive leader gestured for her to sit.
"Welcome Elaine, I take it you got the Master Ball."
"I did Executive. Stewart, three days ago," she said, setting the ball on the desk. "But we have more pressing matters."
"I see."
"While on my mission, I discovered we had a mole that was feeding information to the Oak Agency. When I came back, I did some surveillance and saw that the traitor was Wilhelm. And as everyone knows, they were two people who escaped the Gamma base."
"This isn't new information."
"However, most people believed the second person was an accomplice, but I have reason to believe that the second person was also a Gamma Team member."
"Who is this second person?"
"Maggie Winters. I noticed suspicious behavior coming from her, so I decided to watch her. Over the days, I've been monitoring her. She's been leaving and re-entering the base on multiple occasions. She appears to live somewhere else, which is odd because she used to live in the Gamma Team provided rooms. Everytime she was in the base, she acted nervously, avoiding people and especially avoiding Marlow. And if all this isn't enough, I have this."
Elaine pulled out her phone and opened the photos app. She scrolled to a picture of Maggie, wearing her Oak Agency suit, arresting a dirty looking man.
"Holy Arceus."
Executive Stewrt grabbed his mic and turned it on. He spoke very loud, sending a broadcast through the entire base.
"Listen up everyone! Maggie Winters is a traitor to the Gamma Team, find her at all costs! Capture anyone who is acting suspicious. There may be Oak Agents present! Prevent anyone from leaving the base!"
He looked at Elaine. "God job, now we just wait."
"Victor, hurry up with that machine!" shouted Ellen into her mic.
"I'm trying, but the keypad is heavily encrypted. Give me a minute!"
"We don't have a minute Victor, can't WIlhelm help you?" asked Juan.
"Unfortunately, hacking is not my area of expertise," said Wilhelm.
Maggie looked at everyone. "I'll buy you sometime."
Haruka looked at her. "Don't you-"
"It makes sense, they only know my identity, they're just looking out for anyone suspicious. If they see me with you, they'll catch you guys and no one will be saved. But if I go by myself, they'll all be going after me, so I can direct them away from the lab. Trust me, I'll make it."
"If you need back up, tell us and we'll respond," said Scott.
"Thank you," said Maggie. She jogged down the science wing and waved as she left.
"I got it!" shouted Victor suddenly. The door beeped as the lock disengaged. They rushed into Marlow's lab. As Ellen applied the machine to the door, Juan pounded on the reinforced metal door.
"Katie, Katie! Can you hear me?" asked Juan. He slid the viewing screen back.
"Juan, is that you?" asked a tiny voice in the corner of the room.
"Don't worry, we'll get you out!"
The door beeped as the lock disengaged. He pulled the door open and ran into the room. His sister stood up, shock and happiness on her face. Juan pulled her into a hug and held her tightly, tears of joy flooding down his face.
"Finally, after all this time," Juan said through tears.
Katie didn't say anything, she just hugged her brother tightly.
"I hate to break this up but we have to go. Who knows how long Maggie will last out there. Rescuing Katie only puts us in more danger."
Katie and Juan pulled away. "Thank you, I see Maggie did want to help me. Let's go."
Juan took his sister's hand and Ellen gave her a pokéball with her Altaria inside it. She also gave Katie her mega ring.
"I had to pull apart some of Marlow's machine," she explained.
Katie nodded and they departed the lab.
Maggie moved around the back rooms of the Gamma base, the back rooms were a rarely used set of rooms used for evacuations.
She'd already encountered others in the rooms hunting for her, but most of them were low level grunts and were easily beaten. Following a map on her phone she started making her way to the garage.
As she turned into another room, she saw a figure. She immediately recognized the figure. It was Devon Manson.
"Hello Maggie, I see that you really weren't who you were."
"Devon, please let me pass. You don't know the magnitude of what's going on here."
"You're right I don't know, but I have an inkling that it's really big. So I'm willing to let you pass, if you beat me in a battle."
"You're kidding me! I don't have time for this! And you know I can't beat you!"
"I've taught you a lot of what I could, but not everything, which is why we're both going to use one Pokémon. You win, I let you pass and divert attention away from you, lose, and I'll have to do otherwise."
"Why are you even doing this?"
"I owe it to someone. Now choose your Pokémon!"
Maggie took a deep breath. "Go, Absol!"
"Go, Gyarados!
Maggie quickly analyzed the situation. Devin had chosen Gyarados simply because Dragapult would be weak to two of Maggie's most obvious choice, and despite Being much larger, Gyarados could move around more than Rypherior in the small room.
Even then, Gyarados' movement was still limited, and Maggie could use that to her advantage.
"Gyarados, use Hurricane!"
Maggie saw the strategies in that. In a tight space like this, the move would be devastating.
"Sucker Punch!"
Moving quickly, her Absol sped through the room. Its horn poised to strike, Devon however anticipated this move.
"Aqua Tail!"
The Gyarados spun his tail around, ready to strike Absol in the side.
"Night Slash!"
Absol swung his claw to meet the tail of Gyarados. The two moves connected and caused Absol to leap backwards onto his feet.
"Bulldoze!"
"Dark Pulse!"
Gyarados was about to slam his head down to create a shockwave of earth, but a wave of darkness blasted into him. Maggie saw another maneuver from the Gyarados, and then she remembered Devon's advice.
"Watch out for the tail! Quick Attack!"
Abosl saw the Aqua Tail coming and leaped to the side, he leaped behind a Hurricane attack and slammed into Gyarados' side, causing the giant water snake to recoil.
"Move fifteen!" shouted Devon.
The Gyarados reared back and twisted away. He flipped around and skimmed over the ground, using Bulldoze.
"Dark Pulse!"
Devin didn't need to say anything else, his Gyarados whipped his tail around and sent water flying with Aqua Tail. He slammed his tail into Absol before immediately releasing a Hurricane.
"Now, Crunch!"
"Bar his mouth!"
Right as Gyarados opened his wide mouth, Absol spread his legs and pried open his mouth.
"Now, Dark Pulse!"
Absol leapt from the wide mouth and shot a pulse of darkness straight into its mouth. The Gyarados fell to the ground and started twitching violently.
"Now finish it, Night Slash!"
The Absol gathered all its energy into its horn and slashed the Gyarados, causing it to faint.
Devon smiled. "It seems I taught you very well Maggie. Good luck on your mission."
Maggie gave him a warm smile and ran off. As she neared the garage, she spoke into her mic.
"I'm almost at the garage."
Scott was the first to reply. "Abort for now, we have a situation."
"And so do we," said Ellen.
Scott, Joyce, Aisha, and Gavin hid behind a car as five Gamma Team members stood in front of the car, their Pokémon standing with them.
With the Gamma members were a Cofagrigus, Toucannon, Helioptile, Scrafty, and a Sawsbuck.
"Get out from behind the car or else!"
"What do we do?" whispered Joyce.
"Only one thing to do," said Scott, pulling out a pokéball.
"Three, two, one…"
"Go!" shouted Scott.
They all threw their pokeballs. Xander, Candy, Speedy, and Aisha's Yanmega appeared.
"Alright that's it! Toucannon, Beak Blast!"
"Speedy, Earthquake!" shouted Gavin.
Before anyone could react, Speedy the Torterra slammed his body into the ground, shaking the entire garage.
"Sawsbuck, Horn Leech!"
"Scrafty, High Jump Kick!"
"Toucannon, Release!"
All three enemy Pokémon readied their attacks, but Joyce was ready for them.
"Candy, Protect!"
Candy single handedly blocked all three moves, the shield dropped as Xander sprung forward at the Sawsbuck.
"Flamethrower!" commanded Scott.
A stream of fire blazed out of the angry Zoroark and hit the Sawsbuck. Aisha's Yanmega decided to join the fray and released a chilling Ominous Wind.
"Cofagrigus, Shadow Ball!"
The Cofagrigus positioned its four hands and created a ball of shadow, launching it at Yanmega, the Yanmega dodged it and used Air Slash.
Speedy meanwhile was trying to fend off the Toucannon and Scrafty. He'd used Curse multiple times and was barely moving.
"Razor Leaf!"
Leaves flew into the air and charged at the flapping Toucannon. The Pokémon whirled around and readied Beak Blast.
"Try again, Razor Leaf!"
Right as Speedy readied the move, the Scrafty hit him with Knock Off. Speedy groaned as he shuffled his feet awkwardly to regain balance.
However, the Scrafty hitting off balance helped him more than hurt him. His aim was knocked askew, causing Speedy to fire his Razor Leaves in an unexpected direction. The Toucannon didn't anticipate the direction and dodged towards the Leaves.
The leaves smacked into the Toucannon, causing it to fall out of the air.
Candy meanwhile was fending off the Helioptile. Joyce didn't want to hurt it just yet, but as the Helioptile kept firing Thunderbolt at Candy, Joyce felt more and more strained.
"Protect!"
"Hyper Voice!"
A loud burst of sound slammed into Candy's shield, causing it to vibrate. Joyce knew that the shield wouldn't last too long.
"Earthquake!"
Speedy created a shock of earth that slammed into the Helioptile. Joyce apologized in her head for what she was going to do.
"Psycho Cut."
Glowing blades erupted from Candy's horn and slammed into the flying Helioptile. The Pokémon fell onto the floor, fainted.
Only the Cofagrigus and the Scrafty remained. The Scrafty was in the middle of trying to defeat Speedy, while the Cofagrigus was fending off Xander and Yanmega.
"Curse!" shouted one of the Gamma Team members.
The Cofagrigus fainted as three orbs of shadow swirled around and hit Yanmega. Yanmega made a horrible screeching noise and charged at the Scrafty with Air Slash.
The Scrafty didn't see the move coming and was fainted by the sheer force of Air Slash. The Yanmega didn't last much longer after that as the Curse set in. Aisha's Yanmega fluttered before fainting.
The Gamma members stared in shock as they're Pokémon laid before them, fainted.
Before they had any chance to react, Candy circled them all into a shield. Scott nodded, satisfied.
He turned onto his mic and spoke quietly. "Ellen, are you okay? Me and Gavin are coming as back up. Maggie, proceed to the garage."
Gavin nodded and turned to Scott. "Here we go."
Ellen, Haruka, Juan, and Katie battled their way through the Gamma base. They had been making good progress when Katie's mega Altaria had been a surprise, but afterwards, their advantages were running out.
Already, Juan's Staraptor and Haruka's Tyranitar had fainted. Ellen had to recall her poisoned Lurantis. And Katie substituted her mega Altaria for her Meowstic.
"Magia, Fire Blast!" shouted Ellen as her Delphox faced down a Furret.
The Furret whipped around the fire and leapt at Magia.
"Typhlosion, Leaf Tornado!"
Juan's Serperior blasted the Furret with leaves, causing it to fall a few paces back. A Gliscor and a Hisuian Braviary glided in, their trainers behind them.
Haruka switched out his Cinderace for his Greninja as the Pokémon came at them.
"Gliscor, Earthquake!"
"Zenny, Esper Wing!"
"Greninja, use Tatami Flip!" shouted Haruka, using the alternate name for Mat Block.
A giant mat seemed to materialize out of nowhere and block both attacks, the two enemy Pokémon circled away.
"Belle, use Thunderbolt!"
The Braviary shriek as the bolt of electricity struck it, it flapped around trying to nullify the paralysis, but to no avail.
"Greninja, use Evil Pulse!"
A wave of darkness slammed into the Braviary, causing it to flutter before fainting.
"Typhlosion, Leaf Tornado!"
"Belle, use Psychic!"
Both moves hit the Gliscor, causing it to slam into a wall. But they'd forgotten about the Furret as it crept towards Magia.. However, Greninja didn't. He sprung forward and used Night Slash. Knocking the Pokémon out.
"Good job Greninja. Let's get going," said Haruka.
"Oh you're not going anywhere Haruka." came a chilling voice.
Olivia stood there, along with every single Gamma Team mission branch member. Save for Jacob and Marlow, who were on a shiny hunt, Elaine and Devon.
"I see you found your sister, Carlos," said Kazuma.
Olivia pushed Kazuma away and gave Haruka a wicked glare.
"Hello Haruka, I hope you had fun while you escaped the Gamma school. But you can't escape from me!"
Juan stepped in front of his sister, "You'll never touch her again. Leave before we have no other choice."
"Other choice?" asked Kazuma. "What other choice is there other than to surrender. You'll be outnumbered once the others come, your Pokémon are probably hurt."
"Oh you wouldn't want to be waiting around," said Ellen threateningly.
"Enough with the empty threats," said Gabrielle. "Do you surrender?"
This entire time, Haruka's mic had been on to capture what they were saying. Scott's voice buzzed in.
"Keep them talking. ETA fifteen minutes with possible delays."
"W-What happens if we don't?" asked Haruka.
"Then, we battle. As in I burned down your pathetic little being for insulting Olivia," said Molly.
"What happens if we do?" asked Ellen.
"Stop buying time," said Gabrielle.
"We're not buying time, we just have genuine questions."
"You're buying time for reinforcements aren't you." said Gabrielle with a sneer. "You do understand that works against you."
"Reinforcements or not, this is boring." whined Olivia. "Go, Mors!"
And that was the spark that started the fire.
Gabrielle, Kazuma, and Molly sent out their Pokémon. Tony the Inceneroar appeared, Kazuma's Goodra, and Molly's Charizard appeared. Katie switched her Meowstic for Josa, her Altaria.
"Charizard, torch these fools!" shouted Molly.
All people and Pokémon leaped out of the way as Molly's Charizard spewed fire into the whole room.
Olivia looked around the room for a Pokémon to target, and spotted Typhlosion, her anger spiking to another level.
"Destroy that beast Mors!" snarled Olivia.
Mors didn't know how he felt about the destroy part, making him stand still with hesitation!
"Do it!" screamed Olivia, aiming a kick at her Sneasler.
Mors sprung into action, aiming a Dire Claw at Typhlosion, who twisted around the attack and used Wrap. Squeezing the tall Pokémon hard.
Meanwhile, Haruka's Greninja and Ellen's Delphox were battling against Gabrielle's Inceniroar and Kazuma's Goodra.
"Sludge Wave!" shouted Kazuma.
"Psychic!" responded Ellen.
The psychic energy split the wave appart, allowing Magia and the Greninja to dodge it easily.
"Hydro Pump!" shouted Haruka.
"Dodge it!"
Tony dodged the Hydro Pump and ran towards Magia, readying Darkest Lariat. Greninja wasn't able to interview as he was busy trying to deal with the Goodra.
"Delphox, use Fire Blast!" shouted Ellen.
There wasn't much she could do in the situation as all her moves were resisted. Tony took the Fire Blast and used Darkest Lariat, slamming into Magia.
"Magia, return!"
"Giving up already?" taunted Gabrielle.
Ellen knew she shouldn't respond, so she sent in her Gabite instead.
"Gnasher, use Bulldoze!"
"Darkest Lariat!"
Both Pokémon collided, but while Tony had raw strength, Gnasher had type effectiveness. Tony was pushed back and simply shook himself. His belt glowed as he unleashed Flamethrower.
Greninja on the other hand was at a disadvantage. Kazuma had just switched into Electivire. Haruka knew a powerful Thunder could spell doom for his Greninja, so he decided to go for the physical side.
"Crossroad Killing!"
Fear flashed across Kazuma's face as he thought for a moment Crossroad Killing was something serious. He gave a nasty smirk as he realized it was just Night Slash.
"Fancy name you came up with, but it can't be as fancy as my Electivire using, Volt Tackle!"
The Electivire surrounded himself with electricity and bashed into Greninja, sending the poor Pokémon flying away into a wall.
"Thanks Arceus, just what I needed." muttered Haruka. "A mutant Electivire."
Katie's Altaria Josa and Molly's Charizard battled in the air. And Katie found herself thankful they'd been ambushed near a training room. After some attacks from Molly's Chariza, Josa had flown into the room to give herself more space. This effectively set Katie apat from the rest of the Gamma Team.
"Charizard, use Dragon Rush!"
Josa ducked underneath the draconic charge. Fortunately, Josa was pretty agile, and the move was reckless.
Katie had decided against using mega evolution for now, it would give her an edge if she surprised Molly with it. Besides, Josa couldn't maintain mega evolution for very long because of what Marlow did to her.
"Charizard, Air Slash!"
The sharp blades of air hit Josa one one of her wings, causing the Pokémon to fly at an askew angle for a moment.
Katie wasn't about to let Molly take advantage of that. "Use, Mist!"
A shimmering mist covered the battlefield. All that did was aggravate Molly's Charizard. He started spewing fire, but it just created steam.
"Sky Attack!"
Josa surrounded herself in a shimmering veil of light, and just like they'd once practiced, flew around in the mist. The result was a beautiful haze of golden light, shimmering throughout the mist.
Her Pokémon Coordinator tactic also served a purpose in battle, with the golden light all around the mist, it would be hard to make out Jose's form so long as she stayed in the mist.
And it proved to help, Jose charged at Charizard, smashing into him with a full powered Sky Attack. Charizard was sent spinning in the air and almost fell from the sky.
"Damn it. Silly girl, you've set yourself up."
Katie ignored her and decided to use Sky Attack again.
"Thunder Punch!"
Katie's eyes widened as she realized Molly's strategy. Water is an excellent conductor. And mist is composed of a lot of water.
"Get out of the cloud!"
But she was too late. The electricity from Charizard's hand leapt throughout the cloud of mist, reaching Jose in a few seconds and shocking her good. Jose fell onto the floor and laid there weakly.
"Let's finish this. Dragon Rush!"
"No! Jose, mega evolve!"
A strong force of energy flowed from Katie's mega band into a necklace on Jose's neck. Jose glowed rainbow as a glowing cocoon surrounded her. The cocoon burst in a colorful array, leaving Mega Altaria flying in the air.
Just then, Charizard slammed into Jose knocking her a few feet away.
Molly laughed. "You really thought-"
Molly gasped in shock, Jose was unharmed.
"Jose becomes a dragon and fairy upon mega evolution, making your only unresisted move Air Slash"
Molly gave her an annoyed look. "You act so smart now. Return Charizard. Go, Gardevoir!"
Molly's Gardevoir appeared, she looked at the flying Mega Altaria, and disappeared into her ball in a red flash.
"Ugh, fine. Go, Hydreigon!"
Her Hydregion appeared. It floated there, not even taking note of the Altaria, simply awaiting command.
"Right, use Flash Cannon Hydreigon!"
"Dodge it and use Mist!"
Josa flew away from the silver stream and set up mist. Josa then used Sky Attack, creating the same gold mist again.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Stay away from that mist Hydreigon."
But that was not Katie's plan. "Use Hyper Voice!"
Josa flew to the middle of the cloud and used Hyper Voice. Pink waves of sound erupted from her mouth, causing the golden mist to shake and vibrate, now turning pink.
The mist and sound waves slammed into the Hydreigon. Causing it to shriek in pain. It fell to the ground, fainted.
"What! How could Hyper Voice inflict so much damage?" asked Molly.
"Pixilate. Normal type moves become fairy and get even stronger. And I heard Hydreigon has a serious allergy to fairy type moves.'' She bowed to Molly. "How would you rate my performance?"
"Use Iron Tail!" shouted Juan.
"Dodge it!" shouted Olivia.
Pio, Juan Pichu, charge at Olivia's Espeon. His tail was glowing silver as he leapt into the air. Olivia's Espeon dodged the move easily considering Pichu's size.
"Nerium, use Shadow Ball!"
Nerium fired a ball of shadow, to which Pichu dodged. He dodged two more before she opted for something else.
"Psychic!"
Psychic waves reached out and grasped Pio, throwing him into the air. She fired another Shadow Ball and this time hit him.
"Thunderbolt!"
Pio, while in midair, fired a bolt of lightning, but Nerium moved too fast.
"Volt Tackle!"
Pio charged at Nerium, but missed as she leapt away nimbly again.
"Thunderbolt again!"
Nerium leaped over the arc of lightning and almost landed on Pio. Pio scampered away and ducked under a Fire Blast.
Juan knew he was going to need a way to slow the Espeon down. He knew the last move in Pio's arsenal would possibly help, but Pio needed to get close.
"Pio, use Volt Tackle!"
"Stop this endless charade. Dodge it!"
Juan waited until Pio got close enough.
"Cut it short!"
Nerium leapt over an attack that never came, Pio ran towards her before she landed.
"Sweet Kiss!"
Pio leaped onto Nerium and gave her a light kiss, a light shone on her head as Pio leaped off.
"Nerium, use Dazzling Gleam!"
The gem on Nerium's head shone before emitting a brilliant flash. Pio stumbled backwards as he rubbed his eyes.
"Thunderbolt!"
Pio quickly recovered and set an arc of electricity flying at Nerium. Nerium moved to dodge it, but instead tripped over her own feet.
"Stupid, use Psychic!"
Whether this was because of the confusion, Juan couldn't tell, but Nerium picked up Olivia with Psychic and threw her across the room into a wall. She painfully slid down, unconscious.
"Well, that takes care of things," said Juan.
"Really now?" asked Gabrielle.
Kazuma and Gabrielle were facing him, their Pokémon behind them. A Lucario and a Swampert. Behind them were Haruka and Ellen, both unconscious, guarded by a Goodra.
Juan heard his sister run up behind him, the same realization apparent on her face.
"It will be over quickly." promised Gabrielle. "Lucas, use Aura Sphere!"
Juan took his sister's hand and shielded her, but the move never came. It was intercepted by a giant Torterra.
Gabrielle's face whitened in shock as she recognized the Torterra, and the trainer.
"G-Gavin? You're here, with Oak Agency?"
"Yes, and what you're doing is wrong Gabby," he said, using their stepdad's old nickname for her. "I've been looking for you forever."
"I have to avenge him, it's because of them he's gone."
"It was a rival gang that did it! You can go blaming others for your sorrow! Think logically Gabrielle!"
"All you have is the Oak Agency word! How do you know they're not trying to cover up what they did?"
"You have to start listening to me! Open your eyes! Micheal wasn't the person you thought to be, he was a bad person, and you know that!"
Lucas growled and started forward, but Gabrielle held him back, instead stepping closer to Gavin.
"My eyes are already open, to all the bs and lies the government tells us! And now you're part of them!"
"Listen to yourself, the government is in place to keep us all safe and make our lives easier!"
Gabrielle was on the verge of tears now. "They haven't done so much, what about all the violence from others and the police, what about the poor, the small business? What about them? The Oak Agency can do whatever they want, arrest whoever they want. Everybody has to learn based on what the government says. Everybody has to do what these few people say? Is that helpful?"
"That's why we have democracy."
"Oh really, when has a president ever done what he promised in his campaign?"
Gavin was silent, he was about to say something, but Gabrielle cut him off.
"Exactly, you can't answer," Gabrielle said bitterly.
"There are still other ways to handle grief than to wipe out what you think was the cause. It isn't too late Gabrielle."
She shook her head. "I'm sorry, even if I surrender, I'll be rotting in a cell for years."
With that, she recalled Lucas and walked away. Gavin tried to stop her, but she ignored him. Kazuma stood there all by himself.
"Well this is a predicament. See ya!" then, Kazuma ran off.
Scott put his hand on Gavin's shoulder. "You'll see her again. I'm sure of it."
Gavin nodded sadly. "I will, maybe her head will be clearer by then."
The woke up Ellen and Haruka, Haruka groaned as he gingerly touched his face.
"I got hit by a mirror coated Psychic. Remind me to teach my CInderace you can't kick everything."
"Okay, how about next Tuesday?" asked Ellen.
"This Thursday," said Scott.
"Isn't it already Thursday?" asked Katie.
"You're right, I wanted to be reminded today. The best time to take action is now, which means delaying now by a few hours."
Katie leaned towards Juan. "You have some interesting friends here."
Juan smiled. "Oh you only touched the beginning."
Scott smiled at his team before turning on his mic. "This is Scott, we're coming back to the garage with Katie. Mission almost complete."
There was no response. Scott frowned and waited a minute, everyone else heard the lack of response as well.
"I think we have a situation," said Scott.
Fifteen minutes later
Scott, Ellen, Juan, Katie, and Haruka ran through the Gamma Team base. They hadn't encountered any Gamma Team members, but they knew their luck was running thin.
It was clear however, they wouldn't be able to keep their fast pace for long. Having been cooped up in a safe room, Katie hadn't done much running. Sure she'd been doing some exercise while in captivity, but there had been no space to properly run around.
"Katie, are you doing okay?" asked Juan.
"No, I'm… not," said Katie between ragged gasps.
Juan slowed until he was next to Katie. "Get on my back, I'll carry you."
"I'll just… slow, you down."
Juan smiled and flexed his arms. "Not with these muscles. Besides, you're skinnier than when I last saw you."
Katie smirked and got onto his back. "You look slightly stronger."
Juan kept running, starting to catch up with the rest of Oak Agency. As soon as he did, he managed to keep pace with them.
"I see you're quite the ferryman Juan," said Ellen.
Juan didn't say anything, he focused on conserving energy for running. They turned into a new hallway and dread came over them.
Seven Gamma Team members and two executive branch leaders stood there. Smiling wickedly as they held tasers.
"Opposite directions, split up! Go!"
The Gamma Team members ran after them, they ran to a forked hallway with Haruka, Juan, and Katie going right, and Ellen and Scott going left.
The Gamma members split up as well. With the grunts going after Haruka, Juan and Katie, and the executives going after Scott and Ellen.
"I can't, run for much longer!" shouted Ellen, her breath becoming heavier and faster.
"Think we can take them?" asked Scott.
"It'll give us some time to rest. Let's do it."
Scott flipped around. "Go Darv!"
"Out, Gnasher!"
The two not fully evolved Pokémon appeared. Gnasher gave a snarl as Darv hovered in place.
One of the executives laughed. "You really think two half evolved Pokémon can defeat us? Go, Drampa!"
The other Gamma executive readied a pokéball. "Go, Ampharos!"
"This is going to be difficult," said Scott.
The Gamma executive leader heard him. "It's going to get even worse. I surprised Devon with this and I'll surprise you as well. Ampharos, mega evolve!"
Mega energy flowed from the executive's wrist and into a crown on his Ampharos' head. The Ampharos glowed rainbow as a cocoon formed around it, the cocoon burst, revealing Mega Ampharos.
"Darv, use Dragon Breath!"
"Gnasher, Dragon Claw!"
Both Pokémon attacked the Drampa. They dodge away from a Dragon Pulse and made another wild dodge from another Dragon Pulse.
"Ampharos, use Focus Blast!"
"Drampa, Hyper Beam!"
Darv flew over the Focus Blast as Gnasher ran around the room, trying to avoid the high power beam.
"Darv, use Dragon Breath!"
"Ampharos, Dragon Pulse!"
Darv dodged away from the attack with a graceful sweep of his four wings. He slammed into the Drampa and breathed a stream of draconic energy.
"Drampa, Hyper Voice!"
A stream of sound blasted into Darv, causing him to go flying. The Drampa didn't have enough time to turn before Gnasher slashed it across the face with Dragon Claw.
"Ampharos, use Focus Blast!"
The ball of fighting energy slammed into Gnasher and sent him sprawling. The Ampharos readied Dragon Pulse, but Darv slammed into its head, causing it to almost fall over.
"Fire Blast!"
The Drampa fired a blast of fire at Darv, who took flight and circled around. Settling near Gnasher.
"This isn't working, we'll need a coordinated attack," said Ellen.
"I'm listening, you're the battle expert," said Scott.
"We boost their strength, then focus the Drampa, while keeping the Mega Ampharos from attack. Darv could fly circles around it."
"Got it. Darv, use Dragon Dance!"
"Gnasher, Swords Dance!"
Both Pokémon used their moves right as the executives leaders realized what was happening.
"Drampa, Dragon Pulse!"
"Ampharos, Dragon Pulse!"
Both Pokémon dodged the attacks and rushed in.
"Gnasher, Dragon Claw!"
"Darv, use Bulldoze!"
Instead of going after the Drampa like the executives thought, he instead targeted the Mega Ampharos. The Mega Ampharos tried too late to use a Dragon Pulse, and got slammed into by a rush of earth.
Gnasher was hit by a Fire Blast from the Drampa, but he took it and charged forward. Unable to think of anything else to do, the Drampa shielded himself right as Gnasher slashed it.
"Ampharos, Dragon Pulse!"
Darv flew around the room, avoiding jets of dragon energy. He made a sharp turn and flew at the Ampharos.
"Bulldoze!"
Darv dove down and slammed into the Mega Ampharos. The attack was enough to force it off its feet, causing it to slam down onto the ground.
"Dragon Breath!"
Darv landed on top of the Mega Ampharos and started breathing draconic flames into its face. The Mega Ampharos struggled before firing a stream of Dragon Pulse.
Darv went flying and slammed into Gnsher, who was still trying to fight the Drampa.
"Finish them, Hyper Voice!"
The waves of sound painfully washed over both Pokémon. They lay still, defeated.
"Darv! Are you okay?"
Scott and Ellen rushed over to their Pokémon, but they never got there.
"Dragon Pulse!"
Scott realized what was happening and tackled Ellen to the ground as the Mega Ampharos fired Dragon Pulse. He pulled her up and they started running.
"Again!"
This time, the pulse hit the ground next to their feet and sent them sprawling on the ground.
"Nighty night Oak Agency. Dragon Pulse!"
A sudden rush of air filled the room as something large crashed into the Mega Ampharos with a painful smack.
"What the, impossible!" shouted one of the executive members.
Standing up, straight and tall, was a Garchomp. The Drampa moved back in fear as another Pokémon approached it, a Flygon.
Scott and Ellen stood up, staring at their Pokémon in awe. Their Pokémon moved back and stood in front of them protectively.
"Let's finish these fools. Gnasher, use Earthquake!"
"Darv, use Outrage!"
The ground shook as pieces of rocks jutted out of the ground like spears. The opposing Pokémon tried hard to defend themselves, but found themselves outmatched by the renewed attack. The Mega Ampharos fainted to the Earthquake while the Drampa tried in vain to attack Darv with Dragon Pulse.
Darv flew around the attack and smashed into the Drampa, causing it to faint.
The executive branch members were stricken, they reached for their other pokeballs, but Gnasher was already on it. With two quick flicks of his forearms, he rendered both members unconscious.
"Come one. Let's go," said Scott.
Fifteen minutes later
Scott and Ellen came to a one sided battlefield. Scott was surprised and elated that the rest of his team lasted this long.
Katie was using a Ninetails, which Scott guessed was her last Pokémon. Pio was still darting around the battlefield surprisingly. Gavin had a Joltik that was scurrying about uncertainty, and Haruka's Ciderace was kicking a Stunfisk.
He looked around for Joyce, Maggie, and Aisha. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw them lying against a car, not that injured.
There were still seven enemy Pokémon. Alolan Raichu, Tyrantrum, Doublade, Aggron, Mawile, Magmotar, and a Metagross. All of them were significantly weak to ground.
"Alright Darv, use Earthquake!"
"You too Gnasher!"
All seven Pokémon switched gears and targeted the two new dragon types. As they used Earthquake, the Raichu, Doublade and Metagross flew upwards to avoid it. The Doublade posed to attack, before Katie's Ninetails blasted it with Fire Blast.
At this moment, the Raichu came to attack. It used Psychic, flingingDarv into a wall, but the concentration Psychic needed allowed Gnasher an opening to use Dragon Claw.
The Metagross flew in but was intercepted by Darv, who used Crunch. The two Pokémon tussled with each other. But Darv came out on top in the end.
Gnasher dealt another Dragon Claw to the Raichu and used Earthquake along with Darv.
The effect was too big however, metal groaned and lights flickered as the tunnel started falling apart. Everybody looked up in fear as the lights went out.
"Get to the cars and go! We'll catch up!" ordered Scott.
All the Oak Agency members sprung into action. Juan picked up Maggie as Gavin struggled with Joyce. Haruka and Katie picked up Aisha together and hauled her to the car.
The Gamma Team members and their Pokemon tried to stop them, but Gnasher and Darv stopped them. In a burst of light, Scott sent out Emolga to help keep them away from the rest of his team.
The two cars raced off through the tunnel, Scott could hear Juan asking for directions and assistance from WIlhelm and Victor.
Scott whistled Darv back and jumped on him. Ellen quickly got onto Gnasher back. As soon as she was settled, Gansher took off like a rocket after the two cars, with Scott and Darv following behind them.
More Gamma people burst into the garage, shouting and sending out Pokémon. All cars in the room flash, signifying that they could be driven freely.
"We've got company!" shouted Ellen as they escaped from the Gamma members.
"Got any rock type moves?" asked Scott.
"Yes, Stone Edge. Wait, use Stone Edge!
Gnasher listened and turned around. He hammered the ground, creating a huge stone outcropping that blocked the way. Scott flinched when the sound of a car crashing.
"They'll feel that in the morning," he said.
"Probably never actually."
Scott gave Ellen a blank look, and she shrugged.
Scott shook his head smiling to himself. "We're in the clear, we did a good thing today."
Five hours later
After they saved Katie, they'd changed and met at a fancy restaurant to celebrate. At the restaurant, Joyce had noticed Juan had been extremely happy.
She knew from the months they worked together, Juan was always a nice and generally happy person. But after they saved his sister, he seemed like a whole new person.
Aisha was also really happy, shortly after their escape. She'd been able to truly show her Pokémon healer skills. However, when Scott asked her how she managed to create the distraction, she refused to how she did it. He'd looked for Gavin for help, but he simply smiled and shook his head.
While eating at the restaurant, Ellen talked non-stop about Gnasher and his new evolution. It got to the point where even Victor couldn't handle it.
Gavin was the only one who wasn't really happy. He was really good at faking it, But Joyce saw right through him. Though she figured that his sister was a difficult subject for him, and she didn't want to dampen his mood anymore.
After the restaurant, Haruka had gone to Scott and asked if he could revoke his will.
"I never signed it," Scott had said with a smile.
Haruka had been about to say something, but decided against it. He realized then the will thing was a bit silly.
After the long day, Juan was happy to just crash into his apartment with Katie. But he decided to give her a tour first.
"So this is my dusty old apartment, this is the couch and living room. In the next room, you have the bedroom. And food is served downstairs for free if you work at Oak Agency, so is laundry. The public bathrooms are easy to get to."
"Do you have to pay rent?"
"No, everything except furniture is taken care of by Oak Agency."
"Sounds nice, but the apartment's pretty small, where will we sleep?"
"You take bed, I'll sleep on the couch."
"Actually, can I sleep with you?"
On a normal occasion, Juan would've probably said no, but he owed it to his sister.
"Of course."
Executive Stewart nervously entered the Lady's room, he knew his feeling of apprehension was normal, and that gave him some comfort.
"So, what was this all about? The noise and Ruckus?" asked Lady Scarlet. She was young compared with Executive Stewart. She had flaming red hair with blonde highlights, red eyes, and a cold gaze. She wore a maroon and red Gamma Team uniform, complete with fancy add ons like silver strips on the sleeves.
"Some Oak Agency members broke in after being tipped off by two traitors."
Scarlet rose from her chair with a start, the room wasn't her office, but simply a room to meet with Executive Stewart.
"You took care of them, right?" she asked, leaning into his face so that their eyes met.
Executive Stewart was immediately awashed with an unnatural sense of fear and paralysis. He struggled to make a reply.
"N-No, they escaped m-m-my lady."
Scarlet took a step back. "Stop blubbering like an old man! Did you deal with them?"
"No, they escaped."
Scarlet instantly became angry, Executive Stewart felt her anger explode from her, he could tell she was trying to keep herself calm, but it obviously wasn't working.
"You idiot!" she screamed, slapping him across the face. "I give you practical control over the Gamma Team and you give me this?"
Executive Stewart stumbled back. "I tried! They-"
"There are about eighty people in the Gamma Team, not including myself, and you couldn't stop eight people? You had ten times more people! What did they take?"
"They didn't get any more information, they were just trying to free a girl we had captured many months ago."
That had just made her more mad. "ANY MORE? So they already had information before them! Of course because you couldn't recognize a spy! With their rankings, they could already know about Operation: Resurgence!"
She took a deep breath and sat back down. "How's the operation going?"
"Fine my Lady. We're almost prepared to summon Groudon. We just need to finish reverse engineering the Master Ball and complete testing on the Alpha Gene."
"Good, what about the hybrid Pokémon, did you find the last carrier?"
"No my Lady, but shouldn't we collect the Pokemon soul from the carrier we have right now?"
"All will fall into place soon Dakota."
"But what if he discovers his powers?"
Scarlet snorted. "Out of the three soul pieces, he has the weakest. I have the strongest, I could easily take him."
Her red eyes flashed dangerously. "Now get out."
And with that, Executive Stewart felt an overwhelming sense of terror and dashed out the room.
As soon as he got out, he caught his breath and allowed himself a smile.
"Well Oak Agency, it seems the game is now truly afoot."
Hey guys, sorry this story took forever to get out. Fanfiction unfortunately, isn't working well for me, so I can't be expected to post stories on a regular schedule. However, I'll do my best to work on these stories and post them when I can. Bye for now!
