The two finished their awkward dinner and began to wander the streets. Only Alastor knew the destination. Despite the initial awkward dinner and the nerves she was experiencing, dinner was nice. She even apologized to Al. She thought that he was taking his time taking her back home, but then he stopped. "So my dear, stop two for the night." Selena stopped to look around. They were in a rose garden with a table and a set of chairs. He pulled a chair out for her, and she sat down. "This is one of my favorite spots in the city." He touched a rose's petal; it disintegrated away. "It seems my presence is so rancid that even pretty flowers hate my touch." For a moment he seemed sad, but as soon as it crossed his face, it disappeared. He then gave a melancholic laugh. "They were my mother's favorite. Roses. All of them. I remember a trellis in our yard where she attempted to grow them, but white men came by and destroyed my mother's flowers."
"I'm sorry." She had nothing else to say. How cruel. It was a shame. She had heard and even traveled to a time when color separated people. In her world, it was magic that separated them. "In my day, magic users were part of segregation. Depending on your magic level depended on your social status. It was typically carried through bloodlines. Non magic users sat at the bottom. I remember using my status as high priestess to try to stop those matters. I got stoned for trying. Luckily, my magic was strong enough to heal me, but I felt like I never made an impact. I was born with a lot of magical power which was surprising since my family up until me had none. Then my siblings were born with magical power. My parents were eventually killed for their 'uselessness' in society." She sighed. She hated remembering the past. She watched them burn for being born against the gods. "I'm afraid I've always been privileged so I can't fully understand your plight, but I am here for you." She reached for him but stopped at the thought of his loathing to touch. It was Al though who had grabbed her hand.
"I appreciate you telling me. I'm sorry that happened. It seems people never change." Al seemed sad.
"I'm afraid humans never will. They will always discriminate because it is their nature. Only those who choose to fight their nature, in my opinion, are truly human."
He gave her a cheeky grin, "Well I killed those who treated my people that way; are you saying I was human?"
"You?" She gave a surprised sarcastic gasp. "Never." They chuckled. The ice finally broke between them on this date.
"Well well well. What do we have here? The Radio Demon with a girl?" A group of men stood behind Alastor. One of the demons dragged his finger on Alastor's chair. What ease Alastor felt moments ago shattered. He began to switch into his more gruesome side. His eyes became radio dials, and the air around him became saturated with static. "I don't feel like paying my dues, and it seems since you joined the Happy Hotel, you've gotten weaker." He began to claw at Alastor while a demon grabbed onto Selena. "Stay still or your kitten dies!"
Alastor gave Selena a knowing look. She nodded in acknowledgment before they moved. Selena ripped the demon's, who was holding her, arm off while he summoned his shadows and killed all but the demon who taunted him. That demon he left alive ensnared by his shadow tentacles. A cacophony of screams blanketed them. Selena focused on the demon who touched her. She ripped him to pieces. Once Selena was done, she turned her attention to Alastor and his new toy. "I haven't gotten weaker. Don't feel like paying your dues, do you? Well my ignorant fellow, I'm afraid I won't be giving you a choice." He snapped and the tentacles tore the man apart. "Seems I've been too kind to those that owe me debts, I guess I could stop giving you the safety I promised. Let you see what life in Hell is really like." Alastor turned away from the carnage. "Well, my darling, I wanted to give you carnage, but not this early in the night! I hope that didn't ruin anything!" He offered her his elbow. He turned back to the demon who interrupted his conversation, "Here are your things. You are now removed from my territory. I'll be sure to call on you." He left with a malicious laugh.
"You planned on some carnage tonight, Alastor?" He nodded at her question. "Well I believe that whet my appetite. As much as I want to learn about you, I'm looking forward to the bloodshed." They walked off into Hell's horizon.
