Sirius Black and Esme Malfoy

It had already taken him 5 years and he still never found them. Sirius is devastated. Sirius has left the wizarding world on his own accord, even placing his wards around him to avoid being found by others. He didn't want the light following him and stopping him. He caught some of them doing so possibly in the instructions of Dumbledore to stop him from finding and taking Harry and Nathan.

The Blacks are known for their very strong wards disowned or not. He has been focusing most of his effort in the muggle world in search of Harry and Nathan Potter. He became intimately familiar with the muggle world more than the average wizard but he did have help. That person is his uncle, Marius Black. Marius and Alphard Black were the two relatives who still have a good relationship with Sirius but Uncle Alphard died when Sirius was seventeen and he left Sirius a significant amount of inheritance because of it. This made his mother so angry that the man was blasted off the family tree.

Marius Black is the brother of Cassiopeia, Dorea, and Pollux Black, and the cousin of the current Paterfamilias of the Black family. In their generation, he was the only squib and although the entire family abhor him for being one, he wasn't technically disowned despite what many had thought. His parents still send him to the muggle world but unlike most squibs, he wasn't left of his own accord. His parents, Cygnus and Violette Black made sure that even though he will now live as a muggle, he will still be a successful and privileged person in the muggle world. Most people just assume he was disowned since he barely or never returns to the magical world anymore even though squibs still have some rights in the magical world, albeit very limited.

This is why Marius was able to survive and now has a lot of thriving international businesses and investments around the world earning him a significant amount of wealth. He even has connections to the nobles in the muggle world, but that was mostly because of his granddaughter who married into one of the nobles, the heir to the Duke of Scotts (A/N: This name is fiction). Marius was lucky enough to get into a prestigious boarding school and even entered university where he majored in both business and politics. Even though he is not a wizard, he made sure that he will still honor the name of Black as his parents still said by not living in squalor and earning a good name, title, and wealth.

Marius has never talked to his siblings in years. Pollux he heard is facing a severe illness, Dorea died in the hands of the dark lord, and Cassiopeia still sends him the occasional letter. However, associating with Cassiopeia is a challenge because that woman has a knack for making trouble and stirring conflict even among family members. She never married and spent her years doing research and rumor has it, it was mainly the dark arts. She was the epitome of what the people in the wizarding world known as the "Black Madness" a mental illness that has plagued the Black family for generations although this seems to be more prominent to the women of the family lately with Walburga and Bellatrix among the most famous to have it.

"Sirius?" Marius looked at his great nephew. The boy (to him he will always be a boy) has been looking extremely down for the past few weeks. Ever since Sirius came, Marius has set him up to work for him under one of his companies where Sirius gets to travel all around Great Britain and Europe allowing the boy to easily access the muggle world and even search for his long-lost godsons. He watched the boy look more and more exhausted as the years go by but he still never faltered or gave up. It has been 5 years and Sirius has practically traveled the entire muggle Great Britain and he still never found them. It was Marius who told him that if Dumbledore put wards around the two boys, then even Sirius could not find him no matter how magically talented he is. This is Albus Dumbledore they are talking about.

"You have been stuck in the house for days. Maybe you should come with me and Ophelia to this business dinner. Get you out of the house for once." Marius said in a worried tone.

"I'm fine Uncle Marius. Maybe I should just stay here. I don't think I have slept well last night." Siris said in an exhausted voice.

"I don't think you have slept well at all in years, Sirius. I know finding those boys are important but that doesn't mean you have to forget to live. When was the last time you went out and maybe have a date with somebody? I heard you used to be such a playboy, I remember hearing from your Aunt Cassie complaining about that. She was worried that the House of Black might have an illegitimate child in the future."

That sentence made Sirius laugh. It was true, he did have a reputation of being a playboy back then but he did have one long-term girlfriend, Marlene McKinnon but the McKinnons were wiped out by the death eaters during the first war including Marlene. Another pureblood family is gone. For a dark lord who preaches blood purity, he doesn't seem to have any qualms in destroying entire family lines. They were even fewer and fewer of them already. They broke it off before Marlene died. The reason for their breakup was because Marlene's brother was killed by death eaters and out of grief she took her anger on Sirius and blamed his family – even though Sirius have not been on his family's side in years. Still, Sirius was devastated when she died.

"Dear, we are here," Ophelia called from the foyer.

"Yes, love," Marius called back. "All right, but at least meet my niece, correction, my niece-in-law. You didn't hear this from me, but Ophelia has been trying to set you up with her." Marius sighed. "I don't know why she insisted. I don't think you will like her nor she would like you."

Sirius laughed again. "Why do you think I wouldn't like her?"

Marius gave him a look of disbelief. "Did you forget what family my wife is from?"

Sirius turned to his uncle in confusion until he realized it. Ah, yes. Marius Black's wife is Ophelia Black nee Malfoy.

Ophelia is the sister of the current paterfamilias of the Malfoy family, Abraxas Malfoy. The two barely knew each other because her parents sent her away when her Hogwarts letter never came so she and Abraxas never did have any relationship or contact with each other for decades. She was also a girl so her family focused more on the heir as the Malfoy house is a patrilineal one. It was a struggle when she left the magical world. Unlike Marius, Ophelia only has a small amount of money in Gringotts that was inherited from another family – something that her parents couldn't take away from her so she wasn't exactly penniless when she was kicked out.

However, Ophelia does have some connection with Abraxas' other children, mainly Esmeralda since she was on good terms with Abraxas' wife. Many people often forget that Abraxas Malfoy has other children. Lucius Malfoy is the eldest and the only son, followed by Esmeralda, or Esme as she liked to be called, and Pandora, the youngest. Abraxas does not have a good relationship with his wife who is a pure-blood French witch from a well-to-do family in France. Their marriage is, after all, arranged and the woman was an unwilling party to the arrangement. Divorce is not common in the magical world and they are very frowned upon but not illegal the two are still separate but do not legally divorce. Abraxas' wife, Clarisse Malfoy, took their daughter Esme back to France and that is where she grew up and even studied in Beauxbatons.

Pandora is married to Xenophilius Lovegood and was disowned. From what Ophelia understood, the relationship between Abraxas and Pandora soured when the girl was sorted in Ravenclaw but he still did not disown her because of that as the Ravenclaw house is still tolerated by the Malfoys as a good second after Slytherin. She got disowned because she ran away to elope with Xenophilius and negate her marriage contract with the Lestrange. She was supposed to marry Rabastan Lestrange who is now in prison alongside his brother and sister-in-law.

Esme does not have a good relationship with her father. Not because she was deemed unsuitable in his eyes but because the two never really communicated. Clarisse was against it and Abraxas didn't bother to fight so Esme was lucky she didn't have to undergo any arrange marriages. Her mother's experience of being forced into marriage by her parents didn't want her daughter to go the same path. Although there have been times Esme thought that she could be a result of an affair because why did her mother only take her? But she has long, straight, ice-blonde hair, pale skin, and light blue eyes – traits that are typically common among the Malfoy family. Also, the family genealogy from Gringotts already confirmed her line in the Malfoy house.

So, Esme was able to focus on her path. She is now a well-renowned healer and pioneer. However, most people don't know that, including her father as the two never really reconnected after Clarisse died. All Abraxas received was a letter informing him of her death and Esme left Europe to focus on her medical research. There is also the fact that Esme also went to a muggle medical school which would have made her father furious if he found out.

However, Esme has been in Europe for the past few months mostly because Esme's best friend died and she is the godmother of her two children. Her best friend died of a blood malediction and what Esme was worried about is the fact that the blood malediction is also already starting to show on her godchildren. Esme was devastated. She loves those two children like her own and is focused on her research in finding a cure to the point that she has been locked in her house for weeks at a time. It was Ophelia who insisted she at least get out once in a while. She was extremely worried for her niece's health and well-being. Despite her beauty, she was showing signs of exhaustion and dark eye bags.

Esme knows her aunt. She was setting her up with someone. Ophelia has been very adamant that Esme at least meets other people, probably a potential husband. Esme didn't care much about relationships she never really understood the whole hype about it. She has tried in the past, both men and women; magical, creature, or even muggle, and it never really last. The only lasting relationship she had aside from her mother is her best friend and that was mainly a platonic relationship.

"Oh Sirius, there you are. Please come meet my great niece, Esmeralda Malfoy." The short woman with blonde hair tied in a bun called out to the tall man who has black hair and grey eyes and has that carelessly handsome look.

"Esme, this is my husband's great nephew, Sirius Black."

Esme's small smile disappeared. She knew that his aunt married into the Black family. But she didn't expect her uncle to still have some connection with the Blacks after all he was a squib. She didn't follow the same belief as the Malfoy family about marrying into purebloods which is also why she stayed away from Europe during the war.

"Good evening, Mr. Black," Esme greeted cordially.

"Good evening, Ms. Malfoy," Sirius responded.
