Summary: At seventeen years of age, Atreus and his father found themselves in another realm, one that was unfortunately filled with the less crazy, but irritating versions of the gods they had slain. Can they live their life in peace? Or the supernatural world of DxD will be forced to know the full might of THE God of War? Atreus will try to make sure that won't happen… anytime soon at least.
The story will focus on Atreus, with Kratos being a side-character most of the time.

Chapter 15
"Look here, these are the photos of Ise that I took when he was 5 year old…"
"Uh… kaa-san! What are you all doing? Koneko-chan, don't look!"
Sitting on the couch in the living room with Rias, drinking the tea that was being served by Akeno after she had been given the kitchen to make some snacks for everyone by the owners of the house, Atreus couldn't help but chuckle lightly in amusement as he watched Issei struggling to try stopping his mother from showing his childhood photos to them, the member of the Occult Research Club.
Because it was cleaning day of the old school building, which was being carried out by the devil servants of the Gremory Household, Rias had decided to host their regular club meeting at Hyoudou Residence, where Asia was currently staying with Issei and his parents. At first, Issei had been delighted to take them back to his house, but soon after the group had arrived and made themselves comfortable, it did not take it long for his mother to bring out the family album to show his friends the captured embarrassed moments of his past, much to the boy's dismay.
Apparently, it was something Japanese mothers enjoyed doing as far as Atreus could tell, having read about it on the Internet when he did some non-serious research about the country and its culture. Seeing Issei struggling while his mother appeared to be greatly enjoying herself, Atreus couldn't help but wonder if his mother would have done something similar if she were still alive and had the means to capture his embarrassing moments like using a camera.
Atreus wouldn't say that he had a childhood like Issei, since the boy appeared to have spent his whole life in Kuoh while Atreus and his parents lived in the wild, but there were also moments of his past life that he would rather not let anyone know, like his rebellious and god-maniac period for example.
"Atreus-kun, you said your father worked with a local construction team, right?" Gorou Hyoudou then asked Atreus in curiosity, turning his attention back to him. The past few minutes as Issei and the rest of the occult research club spent their time in the living, Atreus and Rias had been sitting together in the dining room and engaging Issei's father in a friendly conversation. "Is it the Yakumo, or the Katzumi?"
"The Toshioka group, actually, sir." Atreus shook his head and answered the man's question, making him widen his eyes in surprise. Sitting beside him, Rias did not look to be having the same feeling, which Atreus took notice, but it was as he had expected. She and Sona Sitri probably had done a background check on him the day he showed up at Kuoh Academy.
"Oh wow, I have no idea. I heard they were one of the best in Japanese." Gorou pointed out before drinking from his cup of tea, making Atreus smile and nod his head in confirmation.
"Yes sir. The Toshioka appeared to even have a good reputation worldwide, though my father is only the security guard for the team." Atreus stated, holding back a smile as he still found the idea of his father being a humble security guard who sat behind his station and read newspapers or drank coffee all day quite amusing.
Sure Atreus did not doubt that his father would be one hell of a security guard. Not to mention that he could do just about any job that had a strong demand for a man with impressive strength and imposing figure.
Kratos could easily find a job with a better pay than the one that he had at the moment, though not that the current one paid little, but Atreus simply had a feeling that his father decided to stick with the group out of respect for the leader, the architect whose name was Yoshioka Toshikazu, and his incredible talents and experiences.
Men like Yoshioka had always left a positive impression on his father, who used them as examples to show Atreus the quality of mortals, teaching him to be a better man, a better god.
As Gorou talked with Rias, Atreus couldn't help but look back at the group of reincarnated devils hanging out with each other outside, and noticed Issei trying to take the family album from Kiba, who was laughing amusedly as he looked at all the photos of his friend in his childhood inside. His expression, however, suddenly changed, looking like he had seen a ghost.
Instinctively, Atreus turned to Rias and nudged her lightly with his elbow, gesturing his head toward the living room when she turned to look at him curiously as Kiba asked Issei about a photo in the album with a dark look on his face. It's hard for Rias to make out what they were saying to each other from such a distance and with such low tones, but Atreus could do it as he focused.
"Do you know anything about this sword, then?" Yuuto asked as he continued to point his finger at the photo, shifting it slightly upwards.
"Hmm… I only know that the sword belongs to her dad… What about it?" Issei could only ask in return, having yet to notice the sudden change in Kiba's behavior.
"Heh…" Yuuto snorted as his gaze became colder. "To see another holy sword again so soon… unexpected things like this happen, huh."
"What do you mean?"
"Issei-kun," Kiba then told to Issei, the words that even Rias only needed to see the movements of his lips to know what he was talking about. "This is a holy sword...?"
"The Holy Sword Project?" Atreus asked, repeating the words Rias had just told him as she replied with a nod.
It was half past six, and the sun had already set. Currently, Atreus and Rias were walking back to Kuoh Academy, since she wanted to head back to their clubroom and see if everything was in order after the servants of Gremory Household had finished the regular cleanup of the old school building, while Atreus was going with her simply because his house was in the same direction.
The others had already headed back to their house, allowing Atreus to ask Rias about Kiba's issue with holy swords after noticing that he continued to have a dark look on his face for the rest of the club activities since the moment he saw the holy sword in the photo Issei took at the home of a childhood friend of his, which horrified Rias and the others.
"I am sure that despite coming from the Church, someone who was regarded as the Holy Maiden like Asia knew a project like that ever existed…" Rias explained to him with a sigh "It was one of the darkest secrets of the Church, carried out by a group of priests who claimed themselves to be purifiers of evil beings. They keep saying that we devils are of evil existence… but sometimes, I can't help but feel that ill intentions like that of humans may be the worst evil of all…"
Apparently, the day Kiba almost died and was reincarnated into a devil servant by Rias, was the day that he had escaped from a secret project called the Holy Sword Project. He used to be an orphan that was subjected by the church into a research experiment with the goal was to artificially create a people that could wield holy swords, which were one of the most effective weapons against devils.
A single gaze of the holy swords themselves could be fatal even for the strongest devils, and while there were numerous holy swords from various mythologies and religions around the world, the most famous of them all and one of the strongest was the famous sword of king Arthur, Excalibur.
The church, aiming to create the person who could wield it to increase their strength against the devils and those that they deemed evil existences, had taken Kiba in as one of the test subjects to be raised and tampered in order to adapt to Excalibur. Apparently, holy swords like Excalibur could not just be wielded by anyone but the ones it had chosen, the church had decided to conduct such an experiment to create a holy sword wielder by their own hands, in other words, they had wanted to create artificial holy sword wielders.
However, When Kiba and his fellow test subjects kept showing negative result and were finally deemed failures, unable to wield the holy sword, the church labelled them as defects and disposed of them soon after, using deadly and extreme methods, like poison, as they also wanted to cover up what they had done as well. Kiba managed to escape from the research facility thanks to the sacrifices of the rest, who had grown a bond with one another after being locked together for so long like animals.
In the end, the boy eventually succumbed to the poison he had inhaled while running away before he was found by Rias on the edge of a forest near a tourist resort that she and her family were staying at for a vacation at the time. Rias had reincarnated him into her Knight, and as he got his life back, now living as a devil servant of the Gremory household, the boy had sworn an oath that he would destroy the Excalibur to avenge his fallen comrades.
"I see… so that's his problem." Atreus said, nodding his head finally in understanding after hearing the complete story of Kiba Yuuto and how he ended up becoming a servant of Rias.
Rias then decided to ask him, remembering the conversation that they had had when he decided to step in and beat Raiser for her to give her time to better prepare herself and her servants, "You know, Atreus, I have been wondering how you can tell there are problems with Kiba, and everyone in my peerage in general."
"You mean beside the fact that I can see as clear as daylight his smile is completely fake sometimes?" Atreus asked, chuckling a bit while Rias widened her eyes at him in surprise "I mean… I wasn't entirely sure at first. I even thought that he didn't like me at all, but when I felt no hatred in him whenever we talked, I realized my presence wasn't the case."
"But then, his emotions became a complete mess when he looked at those stray exorcists I defeated a while back to help Issei save Asia. It was at that moment that I realized he had some problems with them, or at the very least the people they used to be before going astray."
"Was any sword there a holy sword?"
"I don't think so. Those were the standard light swords issued to the exorcists of the Church, being made of pure light and based upon the principle of an angel's or fallen angel's light weapons." Rias answered, explaining it to him. "Most holy swords resemble normal swords, but they are all infused with holy energy. Some a whole lot more than the others, and some even develop unique holy based powers of their own. I don't know the clear details though. Holy swords have never been an interesting subject for me."
"Ah I see. Wonder if Brok and Sindri can enlighten us about the subject…" Atreus pondered thoughtfully, making Rias widen her eyes a little in surprise before beaming brightly and nodding her head repeatedly in agreement. Brok and Sindri were expert weapon makers, two of the first and finest blacksmiths in the world, so if there was anyone who could give them an insight into holy swords, then it would be them…
… even though Rias couldn't help but have a feeling that the two wouldn't like it at all, since they just hated weapons that were passed from one person to another in general.
"Has anyone seen my dog, please!?"
Before Rias could ask if Atreus could take her to see Brok and Sindri instead of calling them to the clubroom as usual, knowing that the holy sword subject had become a sensitive one after Kiba got reminded of it, the two heard a weak, somewhat emotional plea coming from the nearby supermarket they were about to cross.
At once, they both turned their heads to see a handsome, fit young man with black hair and wearing a red shirt and black pants about their age sitting on the steps outside the store with a stack of leaflets with the picture of a Molossian dog in one hand, and a few empty bottle of energy drink on the ground next to him.
For some reason, Rias couldn't help but have a strange feeling that he was just like Atreus… at least not facially.
"You two, hey! The couple over there!" The young man suddenly called out to them, making Atreus and Rias stop to turn on their heels and walk toward him "Have you guys seen my dog? He's gone missing for a few days now."
"C-couple!?" Rias repeated in surprise, her cheeks reddening slightly as she glanced at Atreus, who simply took a leaflet from the young man's hand and took a look at the photo of his dog in the center of the piece of paper, along with the contact details of him just below.
"I don't think I have seen him." Atreus shook his head and answered the young man, not noticing how he could just immediately tell the dog's gender. He kinda felt bad for the guy, however, since he looked quite desperate "But I will keep a look around."
"Thank you. Please have one as well, miss." The young man said, as he handed Rias another leaflet of his "If you happen to see him, please contact my phone number below. Oh, and don't try to get too close to him as well. He doesn't like strangers."
"We will." Atreus and Rias said at once, before they turned back and continued making their ways to Kuoh Academy, though not before Rias had given the young man a few more words "Good luck. Hope you will find your dog soon."
"Poor guy. He is worrying sick for his dog." Atreus said, as he gave the young man in the red shirt one last look before he and Rias took a corner to finally arrive at Kuoh Academy.
"You don't think that he might be a bit… off, somehow?" Rias couldn't help but ask, looking at Atreus who only gave a shrug of his shoulders in response. "Right, maybe I was just overthinking it."
She said, more to herself than to Atreus before they bid each other goodbye and parted ways, with Rias heading into Kuoh Academy while Atreus started making his way home, not expecting to see his father since the man had gone on yet another business trip.
Stopping at another grocery store on the way, Atreus bought for himself some microwave dinner and a bottle of lemonade flavored carbonated drinks before finishing the rest of the road and finally arriving at his house.
"Mimir, I am home!" Atreus called as he opened the door and stepped in, his nostril flaring when he caught on the sweet aroma of roasted meat and potato sauce, widening his eyes slightly in surprise when he finally realized that there was someone cooking in the kitchen. It's definitely not Mimir, since he was a reanimated head without a body. Not to mention that the smartest man alive was also staying in Atreus' wardrobe in his room, to make sure that if a thief decided to break in, he would not see a head on the table in the dining room and call the police on them.
It couldn't be Rias or Akeno either, the former of whom he had just walked with to Kuoh academy while that night was not Akeno's turn to come to his house to cook for him and his father.
So that's left only one person, or goddess.
"You are late!"
Walking into the kitchen, Atreus was not surprised to see the Greek goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite looking at him while standing at the stove, smiling playfully while nibbling on her bottom lip. It's not her first time trying to break into his house, and he had a feeling that she would never stop doing it, Atreus actually wouldn't have minded if she always dressed in the most provocative outfit, with the theme matching that of what she was doing.
Since she appeared to be cooking, Aphrodite was wearing nothing but a white apron, which barely had enough material to cover her full frontal body, stretching taut against her huge breasts as it tried to contain them, wobbling and bouncing gently under the fabric, visible even on the sides. Her wide hips, waist, and her slender, toned limbs were likewise left bare, while her hair were tied in a pair of low twintails draping itself down her chest from her shoulders, tantalizingly keeping the round slopes of her beautiful breasts slightly hidden.
"You know, one of these days my father is going to rip your head off for breaking into our house." Atreus told her nonchalantly as he walked into the kitchen and removed his backpack from his shoulder to put down an empty chair at the dining table.
"Which is why I only do it after making sure that your scary old man is not at home, Atreus." Aphrodite responded playfully to him, tapping the air in front of her face with a slender index finger as she turned back and finished preparing the food she was cooking on the stove, giving him an eyeful view of her naked backside, from her curved, arching back to the wobbling shelf of her perfect, heart shaped ass. Although it was a sight many men would kill to see, Atreus only had an urge to facepalm.
"Can you at least wear something more proper?"
"Why? It's not like you haven't seen anything?" Aphrodite asked, tossing him a seductive wink from over the shoulder as she struck her ass back and showed him everything between. It was then that she noticed the box of microwave dinner in Atreus' hands, and told him in a firm tone "Put that in the trash. I am cooking for you."
"Should I be grateful?" Atreus asked with a deadpan expression, as he made his way further into the kitchen, not to throw the microwave dinner into the trash, but to put it in the refrigerator to eat later, making Aphrodite give him a disapproving look.
"Just don't try to hide the fact that you are looking forward to trying out my cooking again." Aphrodite spoke to him in response, and Atreus had to admit that she was right on that point. "Those two devil girls are not coming tonight, are they?"
"Nope." Atreus answered simply, as he walked over to the sink and washed his hands. "They don't work on the weekend."
"But they offered to, correct?" Aphrodite asked, smiling teasingly and making Atreus look at her as she put a dish with a piece of steak on the table "Don't give me that look. I would certainly do the same if I were them."
"Yeah, what else is new…" Atreus stated sarcastically, making Aphrodite giggle and wink at him before taking his seat at the dining table.
"So, how was the ball tournament? You and your friends had fun?"
"It was pretty fun, yeah." Atreus answered simply and started eating, with Aphrodite sitting down next to him with a glass of red wine and eyeing Atreus expectedly as he took his first bite. As delicious as it was, Atreus tried his best to keep a straight face, choosing to not give her the satisfaction of knowing that he absolutely loved her cooking. "So… how's things on Olympus? What did I miss?"
"Well, nothing much." Aphrodite answered as she took a sip of her wine before telling him, widening her eyes a bit as if she suddenly remembered something "Oh by the way, Brok and Sindri are expanding their business. Their advertising campaign apparently paid off, and they have been having a lot of customers."
"That's so good to hear." Atreus grinned, feeling happy for the Hulda brothers. "So after dinner, can you bring me to Olympus to see them? There are a few things related to their area of expertise I want to ask them as well."
"Sure, as long as you stay the night in my bedroom as well." Aphrodite answered while smiling seductively, making Atreus roll his eyes before nodding his head. It's not like he had anything to do for the rest of the night, besides spending his time with Mimir – mostly watching rom – com movies with him, something that he secretly found to be quite boring. "Very well."
"Anything else?" Atreus then asked, making Aphrodite tap her chin in a thoughtful manner before telling him.
"Oh, the son of Hades is here in the human world."
"Wait… he escaped?" Atreus asked in surprise and amazement, stopping mid-bite to look at Aphrodite who then shook her head.
"No, more like he's allowed by his father to go to the human world for a set amount of time. Once his time is over, he will be dragged back to the Underworld." Aphrodite explained, making Atreus nod his head in understanding before turning back to his meal "And in case you want to know why Hades let his son go to the human world after having been stopping him from doing it for so long, I heard that it was because the man lost his dog, so he sent…"
"Wait." Hearing that, Atreus instantly stopped eating to turn his head up and look at Aphrodite, his eyes widening in slight shock " Hades lost his dog?"
"Yeah, Cerberus. The three headed dog guarding the gate…"
"I know what it does, Aphrodite, I am half Greek as well." Atreus interrupted her, grabbing a tissue from the tissue box on the table to wipe his mouth clean before continuing, fully turning to Aphrodite to ask her "So you're telling me that the son of Hades is here in the human world, trying to look for his dog Cerberus?"
"Yes. Why do you look so surprised though?" Aphrodite couldn't help but ask.
"Because I just met a guy at a local grocery store not too far from here on my way back trying to look for his dog as well." Atreus answered, making it the goddess of love's turn to widen her eyes in surprise. It was too much of a coincidence for Atreus to overlook.
"It might not be him. Mortals lost their pets almost all the time, you know." Aphrodite reasoned, but Atreus only shook his head at her before continuing.
"I also met him with Rias, and she said there was something off about him." Atreus pointed out before looking to the side, recalling something before he turned back to Aphrodite and asked her "The spell that you use to hide me from the other gods of your world, do they work specifically on other deities only?"
"Yes, I think so. I will have to look into it with my friend Circe to know for sure though." Aphrodite nodded her head before she leaned forward and asked "You didn't feel anything strange about him, did you? You are thinking he used the same type of spell to cover his track and identity as well?"
"No, I didn't and yes." Atreus said, before reaching for his backpack and bringing out the leaflet he got from the young man earlier, giving it to Aphrodite to ask her "I know that he couldn't use a photo of a three headed dog and asked mortals about it, but do you think that this dog is Cerberus?"
"Hmmm… I am not sure." Aphrodite shook her head and answered his question while looking at the photo of the dog on the leaflet "I mean… the Mist makes mortals and their equipment, including cameras, see the dog differently… kinda like how mortals see me accordingly in the form that they deem to be the perceptions of female beauty. If this dog is really Cerberus, then they must have taken this photo using a mortal camera."
"Why is he looking for it here though? Don't tell me that dog is here." Atreus couldn't help but ask, feeling slightly anxious as he remembered the tales of the terrible beast that guarded the gate of hell his father and Mimir had told him.
"Well, if he's here then I am sure you would have seen him by now, you know. Kuoh is not a big town, and Cerberus is almost the size of a three story house." Aphrodite explained, though Atreus did not look convinced, making Aphrodite "Enough about the members of the boring House of Hades already, finish your dinner quickly so I can take you to Olympus to see the dwarves."
"Whatever."
End of Chapter 15
Note: And that's the end of this chapter! Sorry for the long wait guys!
And that concluded Atreus' first encounter with Zagreus, who will slowly turn into a rival of sorts to him in this story. Of course we will only focus on Atreus and Zagreus will be more or less a side character, but he's an important character, one that will affect Atreus' growth as a God greatly in this story.
Not much I want to say in this chapter, other than that I wonder if it would be okay for me to skip through this Excalibur arc so we can get to some original arcs for Atreus as he adventure with his father in the world of DxD. There's honestly not much for Atreus and Kratos to get involved until… well, Kokobiel decided to blow up the entire town, and let's all be honest here, we all want a certain nine tailed fox to return, don't we?
Well, that will be all. I hope that everyone has had a good time reading this chapter! As always, make sure to leave a review once you have finished reading! Don't forget to check out my P/atreon for the earliest access to all of my works/contents if you can, and feel free to join my discord community as well! See you in the next chapter!
