Pastymasty123, they loosely control all of the fallout 4 map, Nuka-World, and some smaller settlements not on the map.

Welcome back Mandalore! Yeah the grammar bits are on me for not checking how Grammarly proofs sentences. It will move punctuation and not correct those mistakes.

The Next one is about the UN.

Here's the fun thing about the Blue Berets/Helmets of the UN peacekeeping forces and their missions.

They operate on the consent of both parties, which I waved as having Pina give it, and are a defensive group only. The UN charter for peacekeepers is strict, they cannot open fire in hostility unless directly attacked.

There's a 'great' movie on the Rwanden Genocide, called shake hands with the devel that I encourage you to watch if you want to see how they usually act in stressful situations. But if you look it up, Rwanda, Bosnia, and more there are a lot of cases of this happening.

But the long story short is that, at this stage, the UN charter demands that they sit by and watch, they may provide food and non-military aid if the local government is willing but those who don the mantle of UN peacekeepers take on one of the hardest jobs. Having to stand by as injustice is done and being told they can't do anything. If they act out, it breaks the charter of the UN which has them as a non-intervention neutral peacekeeping force. They ensure peace, not enforce it.

In many ways the UN is incompetant, but I have respect for the blue berets who risk their lives in forign countries so that others might have a light in the black. They are not perfect, by far they lack anything to properly help them do their mandate, but they try and put in effort.

So no sadly they cannot help, they can call for a diplomatic discussion, can offer aid to the people affected, but they cannot go in guns first. If they are targeted, by an arrow or sword, they may fire in self defence if their lives are in danger.

This doesn't stop some combattants from seeing them as an occupation force, or a military one, but as they march in they bring with them the hope for peace, the hope for a better future.

Nate

He was a little upset. He didn't blame Darek or anyone else; it wasn't their fault the diplomats didn't want to assist. He couldn't and probably would never be able to fathom why they acted that way. When the JSDF calls in to help, they run in but don't want to risk beating the underbrush finding bandits when others ask.

He was lying in his cot, staring at the ceiling, wondering if he could've said anything different that would change their perspective. He was finding that no matter what, they seemed to have already decided they couldn't or wouldn't help.

It frustrated him to no end but based on how Darek reacted, he probably was just as frustrated. They stalled, redirected, and were stubborn for hours.

Hitting the bed with a closed fist, he stands up and decides to go for a walk.

Pulling on just an undershirt and his combat armour, he walks the perimeter, looking at the clear night sky, stars twinkling in the darkness. He hears the sound of heavy approaching footsteps and looks over at the suit of power armour approach.

*ker-shink ker-shink*

"Hey, General"

"Hey, Brayan," he responds.

"Going for a walk?"

"Yeah, I couldn't sleep much. Why are you awake?"

"Doing my last patrol before passing it off to the night guards."

Nodding in understanding, they stand in silence for a moment.

"Did you hear what happened in the meeting?"

"Yeah, Mike told me. Sounds like a bunch of BS."

"This is their issue, yet they so firmly and quickly refused. If their men or interests aren't in danger, then they don't care."

"It seems a bit harsh to judge them on just two interactions. Even if they were negative ones," Brayan retorts

"Maybe," he responds as they start to walk side by side in silence. After a couple of minutes, he looks up, and Brayan starts to talk.

"Regardless of if the choice is good or bad, always do what you think is best. You often don't see the correct answer till it's already past you. That's the pain of hindsight. Stick to your morals, and you will be able to beat these bandits and show the Japanese just what for.

"Maybe you're right."

"Good, this comfort thing isn't my strong suit."

"No, it isn't," he agrees with a chuckle.

A cool breeze ruffles his hair, and he looks off into the fields and trees and wonders if his home will ever get to look like that.

Maybe soon, maybe never in his lifetime

"Keep to your morals," huh? he thinks to himself.

As he stares at the trees illuminated in the night sky, his thoughts drift back to the war with the Institute, Anchorage, and his family.

Itami

He didn't have the same insomnia that the Commonwealth General seemed; he was awake because a new LN had dropped from Enterbrain about a skeleton Mage that unintentionally started taking over the world. He was in his tent with the phone light on low, reading it while hiding under the blanket.

He had heard of the events in the meeting, and while he disagreed with it. He also would've made the same call if it was the squad that would have been put in danger.

Swiping to the next page, he continues reading.

"Turn off your phone. Your light is blinding."

Getting caught, he quickly hit the power button and layed down. Exhaustion washed over him, and he drifted into a quiet and quick sleep.

He sat up groggily and prepared himself to get up from the tent, the sun was starting to pique the horizon, and the sky was filled with streaks of red and gold light as day broke.

It takes them an hour to break camp, and when they finally finish, they load into their cars. At the gate, watching them leave, with a sour expression on his face, General Nate of the Commonwealth army is looking on.

He feels a ping of guilt as they drive off. It feels like something is happening that is beyond his understanding.

Imperial Capital

A Legate cries out to his men

"Legionnaires, the farmland of the southern states are threatened. Bandits and invaders plague the land! If they fall, famine will follow. March, my soldiers! For the Senate and People!

A thousand voices cry out.

"For the Senate and people!"

The Emperor looks down at the legionnaires standing in formation.

"We will have victory, sire. The legion stands for the plebeians; they will push the threats out."

"Good, make sure they do."

The army wasn't the biggest, but with the legions' losses, the number of men to keep the territories in check decreased dramatically. This legion is the largest sent to the southern lands since the united armies fell against the JSDF forces in the gate.

"Make sure the rambunctious princess is kept in the palace. This will be won without her interference. Now isn't the time for inexperienced people to make decisions they know little about." the Emperor states flatly to his advisor.

"As you say," they say with a bow before slipping out of the room.

The princess has made treaties and diplomatic discussions without the consent of the Senate or the Emperor. At their worst, they could've lost the land connection to the allied kingdoms. Thankfully, they hadn't, and only minor concessions were made, but the point is that even those made were made without consent.

She is now confined to the Imperial Palace, where she will face isolation from her knight order and anyone who isn't a personal maid to the Emperor. He will take no chances that she won't worsen the Empire's situation by signing away rights in unequal treaties.

Standing on the balcony, he looks down at the legion as they parade out of muster and start their parade down the roads to the assembled crowd, cheering them on as they do.

The dogs of war have been loosed, and they howl for vengeance. The gods are his witness.

Yet watching them go, he laments to himself that he didn't have much of a choice.

If he doesn't crush the bandits, the Empire is weak and under threat of collapsing in on itself. He needs a show of force that proves that the Empire can still hold on. This was his only option, and the senate agreed with the assessment.

He felt like this was all slipping out from under him and that he would be under threat of drowning in a sea of pain and suffering caused by the gate opening.

The last legionnaires exited the plaza; he straightened himself and turned back indoors.

There was still much to do before there could be any peace in the capital again.

Hello! I forgot to release it on monday, i slept in and then played SWTOR all day before i realized my mistake. I'm happy with the questions of the UN because it's one of those groups that isn't commonly known about. The UN forces are military units from different countries and oftentimes are not white. This case holds a military force from every continent, but none from a major power yet.

Yeah Nate and Derek are upset, I originally wrote the Nate section to be Derek but it didn't feel like his character so I switched it with Nate in the end.

I also wanted to expand a little bit on some lines in the original story where Pina states that the diplomats would be angry at her for signing away rights like she did in italica then immediately leaves for another world.

She's not an expert on politics, she admits that (I think in the first or second LN) I also wanted to humanize the Empire a little bit. The big bad roman stand-in that is puffed up in its own hubris works for a half baked story where Japan needs someone to pound into the ground every other chapter but makes no realistic sense if that's their only trait.

At this stage, right after Italica they have no real choice left. They can either sit by and let the empire crumble, or try and piece it together.

The JSDF may be slowed down, but they will keep on trying to push for their interests. And the Empire, like Qing China in our own time, will have little to stop them.

This should be one of the last short chapters now that I have some semblance of free time.
