Revy ground her teeth as she hid behind the gravestones, listening to the sounds of the Death Eater's sick laughter as Voldemort tried to hunt her down, jeering at her, mocking her. It was all "surrender to death, Rose," or "hide and seek, Rose? I thought you were more mature than that." The mocking tone infuriated her even more, but she needed time to fix her injuries and get herself ready.

It never failed to amaze her, but Voldemort was just bone-dead stupid. Revy's investment in magical mirrors being used to open up doors into a whole new means of entertainment had seemingly gone unnoticed, and the Dark Wizard had no idea one of the mirrors monitoring the Tournament had come with Revy when she had picked up the Tournament trophy, after Krum, Delacour, and Diggory had failed to get to the maze.

Okay, she'd cheated, so sue her.

But the point was, she had won by casting spells on her feet so she could race along the top of the maze, and she was glad the whole thing was being broadcasted to the whole world of magic, otherwise, everyone would have been watching four teenagers, one younger than the rest (her) walk into a maze without even knowing what was happening. The maze would have blocked everyone's view of what was going on, and if one of them was hurt quietly, the idiots wouldn't have even been aware something was going on until it was too late, thanks to the mirrors Rose had invested in, everyone at Hogwarts knew what was happening.

Revy had invested in a muggle-born witch's business idea to create mirrors that could be used like televisions, and she had snapped it up at once because she felt the magical world needed a bit more entertainment, and the magical equivalent of sitcoms, documentaries, and dramas had sprung out of nowhere to take advantage of the new innovation.

She just sat there, thinking and waiting for the right moment when she could hit Voldemort with the spell she had discovered.

She was just…so tired, of everything. She had spent so much of her life fighting for her life, and even now while she was positive Dumbledore had some suspicions she was behind the murders of the Dursleys, the old wizard hadn't called her out for her, and she was hoping it stayed that way, but she had reached the point where she was just so exhausted from fighting her way out of life, and right now she was tired of this whole situation.

After she had spent a few years robbing in the muggle world, using what she stole to put food and water into her stomach, clothes on her back, and fighting to make sure she lived for another few days….and then going through the same cycle over and over again, Revy had received her Hogwarts letter, delivered by Hagrid.

The Hogwarts groundskeeper's presence had sent red flags up in Revy's mind when it occurred to her later that Hagrid was just not a teacher, and he lacked the skills to properly introduce someone unaware into the magical world. Hagrid had been extremely puzzled when Revy had shown no familiarity with the magical world; he had assumed that before the Dursleys had died, they had told her and that she was part of the family. Revy hadn't bothered to change his opinion, although he was surprised when she didn't know anything about the magical world.

But Hagrid had pissed her off.

He didn't tell her too much about the magical world. He didn't show her the muggle-born handbooks, which contained advice meant to protect muggle-borns and tell them about magical culture. At first, Rose was certain that Hagrid had forgotten, but later when she saw how Dumbledore had meddled in her life, starting from her first visit to Gringotts, Rose realised Dumbledore had told Hagrid what she should buy and what she shouldn't. The old bastard wanted her ignorant of the magical world and its customs, but when she had learnt of her key to her vault, Rose had nearly exploded with violent rage.

She had already been angry with the magical world from the moment she'd been pawed and touched by the idiots in the Leaky Cauldron; learning Dumbledore had her key was the last straw, on top of learning he was the one who'd left her with the Dursleys in the first place made her snap, much to the surprise - and horror - of many when they saw the extent of her temper.

Rose went to Hogwarts and she was immediately sorted into Ravenclaw, and not Gryffindor. She had always been interested in books, learning and reading, and she had a street smart while she always fought her battles, her way of doing it was to go back and look for a better means of fighting them off. It might not be seen as especially brave, but who cared?

But she was tired of all the increasingly dangerous things that happened to her at Hogwarts, where Dumbledore had this seeming desire to kill her indirectly; it was bad enough with the Stone, but the basilisk and the Dementors when she had rescued her useless godfather and now this Tournament had pushed her survival skills to their very limit.

She had needed to cast an oath she hadn't put her name in the Goblet of Fucking Fire, she had nearly been roasted to a crisp by a motherfucking dragon, and she was now involved with this. Rose had known for a long time Voldemort was still out there, waiting and preparing for a comeback where he and his pathetic cult would be trying to kill every muggle-born out there. What she couldn't grasp was why the fuck he hadn't tried to get her blood secretly and then return when she least expected it. Okay, so Rose could understand the need for Voldemort to prove himself; losing to a baby was bad enough, although she had a feeling Lily had done something (to this day, Rose found it hard to refer to her parents as anything other strangers; she didn't know them, and from what she had learnt, they were not compatible, and some of their actions had haunted Rose since; the bullying of Snape, discovering her 'mother's' journals in Gringotts and seeing her tone and personality change further down the line, going from an independent young girl, and transforming into a Dumbledore lackey without any kind of thought- it was disconcerting that Lily had once been a highly ambitious and brilliant girl with dreams and being turned into someone who approved of bullying and how she saw Petunia give up on getting their parent's love and respect) instead.

The problem with Voldemort in this case was the Dark Lord was so melodramatic. He just had to prove to people that he hadn't been beaten, the only way to do that was to kill her. But it was obvious he had planned to rebuild his forces - in secret - and then unleash them across the magical world, taking everyone by surprise, and the Ministry's incompetence would likely see them collapse within days without much of a decent fight to stop him, making it token resistance at best, but the disappearance of the Girl Who Lived would be a red flag.

Okay, there were several flaws with Voldemort's reasoning here. Not only had he forced her into the Tournament with everyone knowing about it, but he had drawn attention to the fact someone else had put her in. He had planned to steal her blood, why not get a spy to knock her unconscious and steal her blood from there and make sure she lived so nobody was suspicious? The Tournament was lethal, so why the hell did he not take into account that she might have lost patience with the wizarding world and walked away, or she might die? Surely he wasn't stupid enough to put all of his eggs in one basket?

Clearly, he was.

Rose glared upwards at the mirror orbiting overhead nearby, wondering why nobody was coming to do anything about this; they could see Voldemort, but Rose was anything but a damsel in distress. She slipped out her wands - custom made - Rose righted herself and she lifted her gaze up over the headstone she was crouched behind. Voldemort was coming closer to where she was, his eyes gleaming in the darkness of the graveyard, and the Death Eaters were not far behind.

Rose knelt down, and she took out the small amulet she'd been carrying around and checked it. Four soul fragments, good that meant she could begin the ritual now.

Many people were not aware of this, but Hogwarts truly did have a treasure trove within the Room of Requirement. Rose had discovered it in her second year after she had asked the House Elves if there was a place where she could practice her magic without Dumbledore knowing about it (not the words she'd used, but you got the gist) and she had discovered if you wanted a specific book on a subject, thousands would appear.

One of the topics she had researched was Voldemort following her discovery of his name. She had learnt everything about him from his upbringing, details of his Hogwarts years, and many of his earlier crimes before he took it so far that nobody would recognise Voldemort as the Slytherin top student. And she had discovered that Voldemort had created Horcruxes, and one was hidden inside Hogwarts, but at the same time while she could have destroyed the things from there after discovering they didn't work, they just shortened the human life span into little bits, and because Voldemort had been stupidly siphoning off the magic from his followers, Rose knew if she drained one Horcrux then she would drain all of them, and the Death Easters, Rose had wanted Voldemort to witness his own destruction. He wasn't the only one who was melodramatic. She was only much better.

She had known she would meet Voldemort tonight, that was why she had gone out of her way to reach the trophy first.

Rose stepped out of hiding, pulling the Ravenclaw diadem out of her dimensional trunk after she'd put it there earlier, and she held it up and she began chanting, pointing her wands at it. Voldemort realised too late what was happening, but it was too late when he began screaming, followed closely by the Death Eaters, as their magic and their souls were being torn out of their skins.

Rose felt a blinding pain in her forehead, and the pain took her aback before it went black, but before she fell unconscious she muttered the codeword to her portkey.

A year later…

Rose Potter smiled as she walked through the gates of her new muggle school. After she had cast the ancient Egyptian spell to destroy the Horcruxes, she used a portkey which sent her away from Hogwarts and the magical world. She had made it before the final task, and she had planned on using it as a means of escape from the wizarding world after she had done her bit for them, one last time.

She hadn't completely gotten away from the wizarding world. She was still studying for her OWLs and her NEWTS, but she couldn't and wouldn't do it at Hogwarts. She was doing them under a different name. She just wanted the myth of the Girl Who Lived to vanish, and she didn't care what others thought, not anymore. She hadn't had a temper tantrum for a long time, it was as if the Horcrux in her head had been feeding her aggression, and while Rose was regretting everything she had done under the soul fragment's influence, she was glad of what it had done for her over the years.

And now she was free.
