Night has come over, but Paul was still awake. He has hardly ever moved as he was wide awake in bed with Sabella sleeping right next to him and still held his arm. This time, it wasn't really his troubles that's keeping him up. Rather, it's how things have been going between him and her that keeps her up. Paul feels so close to her and hasn't really felt such a feeling in a long time. Paul was feeling relaxed being here with her until a phone went off and woke her up.
"Sorry about that." Sabella said as she pushed through the exhaustion.
"It's fine." Paul said. Sabella reached for her phone and still answered it.
"What is it?" Sabella questioned as she still felt tired, and a little upset that someone ruined her blissful moment. However, what she just heard caused her to fully wake up. "What?! No!"
"What is it?" Paul questioned.
"How long ago?" Sabella said as she ignored Paul's question. "I'll be there as soon as I can!" She ended the call and tried getting dressed as fast as she could.
"What happened?!" Paul said as he didn't like this.
"The meteor has been stolen! Someone broke into the research lab and stole it!" Sabella explained. Paul knew this wasn't good at all and had to go with her.
"I'm letting the others know." Paul said. With that meteor stolen, they need to move fast and get it back.
...
The Research Lab
Once Paul and Sabella were alerted that someone broke into the lab that the meteor was being held, they both changed and hurried there. Paul also alerted Lindsay and Thomas of what was going on. Christoph was already at the lab and saw all the damage that was done. Paul and Sabella had a look and saw the place was a wreck with one scientist webbed down and the other dead.
"Craze Killer... This is all his doing." Paul said.
"No doubt about it. None of the data and research was stolen. The meteor is the only thing gone." Christoph claimed.
"This is all my fault. I never should have left the lab." Sabella said as she blamed herself for the whole thing. "I knew I should have stayed, but I foolishly believed everything was secured."
"It's not your fault." Paul claimed as he look at look at the damage. "This place was hidden. No one was suppose to find this place."
"Somehow, Craze Killer did." Christoph said. "The security details we've been put in, such as sonic speakers and flame defenses, have been activated. However, it looks he was able to get around them. You said vibrations and heat were his weaknesses, Spider-Man."
"They are, but he's a tough one." Paul said. "I'm going to see if I can find it. He couldn't have gotten too far with it. Venom and Blite should be here soon. Just try to handle things here." Paul hurried out of the lab and made his way outside. Now that Craze Killer has the meteor he wanted so badly, Paul's got to find him before he does whatever he's planning with it. When he got out there, Venom and Blite were there and waiting for him. "You both made it."
"Like we're going to miss this." Thomas said.
"So Craze Killer actually managed to get the stupid space rock?" Lindsay said. "I thought the idea was to make sure he would never find it."
"Well, he somehow did. We've got to get it back." Paul said as this was serious.
"Indeed we must." They looked and saw Sabella was joining them in as she had her weapons ready to go.
"What are you doing?" Paul questioned as he didn't like where this was going.
"I'm going with you, of course." Sabella said.
"No way. Craze Killer is deranged." Paul said as he grabbed her by the shoulders. "I'm not going to risk you getting near him." Sabella did not like what Paul might be implying. That's why she grabbed her boyfriend and he ended up getting tossed around and thrown to the ground. An example that Sabella can bring great pleasure and pain to him if she wants. "Good point." He said as he could see Sabella can handle herself just fine, as well as not annoy her.
"Okay, but what are we going to do?" Lindsay questioned. "That psycho could be anywhere in New York now. How are we suppose to find him?"
"There must be a way to..." Paul said as he got up, but soon realized something when he looked at Venom. "Wait a minute. We know the symbiotes are connected to the meteor. Maybe Venom can find it."
"Me?" Thomas questioned.
"More specifically, your symbiote might be able to find it." Paul explained. "Maybe your symbiote can sense where it is. That might also be how Craze Killer was able to find it in the first place."
"Sort of like how animals can use scent to track their food, even it would be so far away from them. Maybe even like radar." Sabella said as that made sense.
"You think you can do it?" Lindsay questioned.
"Let me try." Thomas said. He tried to relax and tried to let his symbiote take control for a moment. He tried to feel what the symbiote feel. Suddenly, he felt a faint feeling. It was almost like something was calling to him. "It's working! I actually can sense where it is!"
"Where?" Sabella said as she was eager to corrected her mistake.
"It's moving... I think... Got it! It's heading for the Empire State Building!" Thomas claimed.
...
The Empire State Building
Thomas being able to sense where the meteor was turned out to be a big help. They went to where Thomas could sense it and soon found themselves at the Empire State Building, the tallest building in all of New York. Paul carried Sabella and Thomas carried Lindsay as they swung through the buildings and landed down on a roof near the building.
"Are you sure it's here?" Sabella asked.
"Yeah. I can still sense it, and it's there." Thomas said. "It looks like it's getting further and further up."
"Why would it be here?" Lindsay questioned.
"Look there!" Sabella said as she pointed high up on the building and they could see something moving. "That must be him."
"Everyone, be careful. There's not going to be a lot of room up there and it's a long way down." Paul warned. The four of them hurried on up there. Everything was just as all of them said. Craze Killer had the meteor and was climbing his way up. He kept on going up and up, aiming right for the spire that rested on the top. He seemed rather excited about something as he jumped up and was at the base of the spire.
"It will soon be time." Craze Killer claimed. He jumped up again, but something latched on to his back and pulled him straight down. He was thrown against a ledge and soon found him surrounded. "Why am I not surprised?"
"Did you really think you could escape from us?" Sabella said as she aimed her rifle right at him.
"Give us the meteor!" Paul demanded.
"And please hurry. All this wind isn't good for my hair." Lindsay complained.
"Sorry, but I need it." Craze Killer said.
"We'll just take it back!" Sabella said as she opened fire at him. The bullets just bounced off him.
"I got him!" Thomas said as he leaped right at him, but Craze Killer easily knocked him away. He smashed into Sabella and they both fell off the building, but Thomas was able to save both of them. Craze Killer tried heading for that top, but Paul and Lindsay wouldn't let him.
"Going up." Paul said as he grabbed Lindsay's hands and threw her straight up. Lindsay went right at Craze Killer and kicked him back. She landed on a ledge, but tried to gain her balance when she saw how long the way down was.
"Maybe this wasn't the best idea." Lindsay complained.
"Afraid of heights? Let me help you down!" Craze Killer said as he shot a tendril at her. It whipped against her and knocked her down, but Paul was able to catch her. Craze Killer just kept on going up and up, but Paul and his friends chased after him. Thomas and Sabella shot themselves straight up and went at him again, but he jumped straight up and they both missed him and landed right on the roof. Craze Killer landed right on the spire and continued climbing.
"Hurry! Whatever it is he's about to do, he's going to do it!" Paul said as they hurried after him.
"I got him!" Thomas said as he hurried after him.
"It begins!" Craze Killer claimed as he placed the meteor right on the spire. When he did that, a red light just shot out of the rock and into the sky. None of them knew what was happening, but it didn't look good. As Thomas tried getting closer to him, the symbiote started to react to the light and it was acting like it was in pain. That caused Thomas to be in pain.
"Argh! ARRRRAAAAAWWWW!" Thomas shouted in pain as he fell right off.
"Venom!" Paul called. He crashed right on the roof and appeared to be in pain.
"What's happening?!" Lindsay questioned as they all tried to help him, but didn't know what to do.
"I don't know, but I'm stopping it." Paul said as he looked straight at the cause. He took Sabella's rifle and got ready to use it.
"Wait! It won't work on him!" Sabella said.
"It will when I use it." Paul said as he had a different idea. As Craze Killer laughed at what was happening, Paul jumped up as high as he could and reached their level. When he got up there, he smashed the rifle against him like a club and knocked him and the meteor right off the building. When he knocked them out of the place, the light faded away. When that happened, Venom's symbiote began to settle down and he was feeling more at eased.
"Venom, are you okay?" Lindsay asked.
"I think so... What was that? My symbiote went right out of control." Thomas said as he doesn't understand what happened. None of them did
"Venom, are you sure you're good?" Paul asked.
"Yeah. What about Craze?" Thomas questioned.
"And the meteor!" Sabella said.
"I'll get them!" Paul said as he dived right off the building. He jumped right off the Empire State Building until he reached the other rooftops and was able to safely land down on the streets. When he did land down, he could see Craze Killer was already long gone and the meteor shattered to pieces upon hitting the ground. The meteor is destroyed, but he was a little more concerned that Craze Killer is gone. This is only a hollow victory.
...
Christoph
"I'm sorry, sir. The meteor is destroyed." Sabella said as she placed a trey of the pieces on Christoph's desk. All four of them reported back to him and shared what happened. Sabella felt like she failed for not saving the meteor. "The energy it had seems to be gone as well. Venom cannot feel it anymore." Christoph was disappointed in that, but he handled it well.
"It's probably for the best." Christoph said. "This rock seems to have cause a lot of trouble."
"But what did Craze Killer want with it in the first place? What happened back on that tower?" Lindsay questioned.
"I'm not sure, but I don't think he's done." Paul said as he knew this wasn't over. "Craze Killer is up to something, and New York is a lot more dangerous with him out there. We still need to find him." All of them certainly agreed with that. This wasn't over at all. What none of them know was that what happened on the Empire State Building set in motion something that could have global-sized results.
