"My whole life...it's been only misery. My former best friend got everything I wanted, the woman I loved, got caught in some sort of accident, and I ended up turning to a life of crime. I thought that meant my life could change; that if I couldn't get what I wanted, I just take it. However, that rotten Spider-Man got in my way again and again. No matter what I did, it's only been misery for me. Now, I don't even have my humanity left."

Paul and his team attempted to bring Goldberg and Master down. Master made another failed attempt to persuade Spider-Man to join forces seeing as how Paul doesn't trust them or approve of their methods. Before they could do anything, Master pulled a fast one and unleashed something upon the city. That something was Glacier, but something has happened to him. Something was crossing New York's waters, the water instantly freezing. That thing was able to reach the coast and the ice was spreading into the city. Once Paul and the others were alerted of what happened, they tried to track him down.

"How did he make twenty miles out here?" Thomas said as he and Paul swung up on the bridge.

"Blite is lucky she's not seeing this. Perhaps it's a good thing she's driving back here." Paul said. They saw the ice was spreading and reaching the city. They needed to do something fast or else New York could end up becoming a frozen wasteland.

"How is Glacier doing this?" Thomas said.

"I don't know, but let's go find out." Paul said as they were about to get answers soon. The two of them swung over to see where the ice was originating from. It was easy when they followed the screams of terror. The two of them kept moving and soon made it to the front of the ice.

"Here we are, but where's Glacier?" Thomas questioned as he didn't quite see him.

"Someone say my name?" The two of them looked at was right in front of them and was horrified at what they saw. It was like something out of a nightmare.

"What the hell...?" Thomas said as he couldn't believe it. Standing before them was a large piece of ice, a creature made out of it. Inside that ice was a skeleton with some inner organs inside the ribcage. It was like a monster was standing before, a monster they've never seen before.

"Oh my god!" Paul said. There was no doubt as to who this was seeing as how he responded, but Paul needed to hear it. "Glacier? Is that really you?"

"Were you expecting Santa?" Glacier said.

"What the hell happened to you?!" Thomas questioned.

"You two are what happened to me." Glacier accused as he blamed it all on them. "You are the ones who did this to me, turned me into this freak."

"What are you talking about? How is this our fault?" Thomas continued with the questions. Paul soon figured it out from remembering the last time they faced Glacier.

"The chemicals!" Paul said. "Back at the docks when we were trying to stop you from stealing those chemicals. One of the barrels burst and splashed on you. You were in pain... We saw you fall into the water and thought you were dead. How did you manage to survive?"

"Survive? Look at me!" Glacier shouted. "I might be alive, but I can hardly call this living! I turned into a monster!"

"Try to calm down and just tell us what happened to you." Paul said.

"When those chemicals fell on me, it caused my equipment to malfunction." Glacier explained. "I fell into the water and it caused some sort of reaction. My skin and flesh turned into ice, probably from the cold water, my altered body temperature being colder than normal, and the cold producing blasters I held. It turned me into this monster." Just remembering all of it caused him great unsettling pain. He remembered the chemicals feeling like acid, the coldness getting the better of him, and how his body hardened to ice. When he finally emerged in the water, he became aware of what he was and horrified from it.

"I can't imagine what you must have just went through." Thomas said.

"Can't imagine? You have no idea what I'm going through! I don't even look human anymore! I was lucky to find someone to help me with this!" Glacier shouted. That very night, he was found by Master and Master shielded him, protected him, and comforted him. Master hid Glacier away, but Glacier blames it all on one person. "You did this to me!"

"It's not our fault!" Thomas claimed.

"If you would have just stayed away, this wouldn't have happened to me!" Glacier shouted.

"We couldn't let Goldberg get those chemicals, but it was an accident." Paul said. "We tried to help you, but we couldn't make it to you before you fell in."

"None of this would have happened to me if you would have just stayed away! I have nothing, and now because of you, I don't even have my humanity!" Glacier cried. "One GOOD thing about this is that I have stronger power to kill you!" Glacier began to unleash his rage as he held out his icy arms and fired shards of ice at them like a shotgun. Both of them jumped out of the way.

"Someone is loosing it!" Thomas called as they both took cover behind some walls.

"Handle this carefully, Venom!" Paul called. "He's in a fragile state right now, and we don't know what he's capable of now!"

"No problem." Thomas claimed as he shot a web at the ground and pulled out a piece of the ice. "Have a taste of your own medicine, Glaicer!" He called as he threw it at him, but the piece of ice just shattered upon impact when it hit him. It was like he didn't even feel that. "That wasn't ICE at all."

"Okay, even I wouldn't make a bad joke like that. That was just bad." Paul complained.

"You made your last joke!" Glacier said as he kept shooting shards of ice at them again. Paul moved fast as he climbed up a building and jumped out as he swung around. He went at Glacier and kicked him back with him getting knocked down, but Paul felt an uncomfortable feeling in his legs as he held them.

"You okay?" Thomas questioned.

"I could feel the cold right through my boots. His body really is compose of ice." Paul said.

"Of course it's made of ice!" Glacier claimed as he stood back up. "Everything I touch now will turn to ice. It's all because of you that I am, and I'll make you pay for it!" Glacier just charged right at the two of them and attempted to freeze and shatter them.

"Don't touch him!" Paul said as he knew it was a bad idea. The two of them tried keeping their distance as he tried to freeze them. Paul shot a line at him and tried to coil him, but he saw the webbing beginning to freeze. Letting go quickly, Glacier was able to break out of it. Anything touching Glacier now could freeze in ice. Thomas tried as he shot a couple lines at him and connected to him. Thomas used his great strength and tried twirling him around before he threw him away just before the ice reached him. Glacier crashed right into a wall and it looked like some damage was dealt. It was done literally as they could see cracks forming over him.

"Yikes. I know you said he was in a fragile state, but I thought you meant mentally." Thomas said.

"So did I." Paul said as he didn't like the looks of this at all. It would seem Glacier is as fragile as ice now. That means he could break as easily, and that could mean he could actually die. Glacier looked at himself and saw the cracks that formed over him.

"You just won't stop until I'm ruined, will you?" Glacier said as more and more of his misery and despair was getting the better of him.

"It's not like that, Glacier." Paul said. Fighting only seemed to make things worse. That's why Paul had to try and reason with him. "Glacier, try to keep calm. I know it doesn't look good, but there might be a way to help you."

"Look at me!" Glacier screamed. "Everything I have, ever could have wanted, and whatever the hell else is gone! I have nothing! It's all because of you!" Glacier kept trying to attack them as he shot shards of ice at them. Not wanting to kill him, all they could do was just keep dodging his attacks. Glacier's knew powers appeared to be growing stronger. The ice kept spreading, climbing up buildings, even digging through walls and freezing the inside. That could cause problems for structure.

"Glacier, please try to calm down!" Paul said as reasoning with him might be the only way to end this as well as Glacier getting out of this alive. "Glacier, I know it seems hopeless, but it probably isn't."

"Seems hopeless? It is hopeless!" Glacier claimed.

"Maybe not. I know you didn't ask for these powers or anything, but it's your choice on what you do with him." Paul said. "You'll have ups and downs, good times and bad, but don't let the down and the bad get to you so much."

"Will you just shut up!" Glacier shouted. "Look at what has happened to me! You don't understand, not even the smallest idea of what I'm going through now!"

"I have more than an idea than you might think!" Paul claimed.

"Spidey, what are you doing?" Thomas questioned. "The guy is going completely insane."

"He's just scared. If this fight goes on, it could be the end of him." Paul said. "Reasoning with him might be his only chance."

"I hope so." Thomas said as he didn't like how this was going at all.

"Glacier, listen to me. I do understand that it's hard. Take me for example." Paul said. "You think I have it easy? You think being Spider-Man is a walk in the park for me? I didn't ask for these powers. It was by chance, an accident, or however you want to call it that I ended up getting them. They aren't all that great myself. My personal life is difficult because of them. I've had to make so many sacrifices and I'm having a hard time making a personal life work. It might seem hopeless, but there were some good qualities. I saved lives, I found people who help me make my life easier."

"That all sounds nice, but this isn't about you." Glacier said like he wasn't really listening.

"I'm trying to tell you that I can relate, I can empathize with what you're going through." Paul claimed. "Still, you don't need to give up hope. Don't let this define who you are, Zach Stemen." Hearing the sound of his old name really got to him.

"I... I haven't been called by my real name in so long... I almost forgot what it sounded like." Glacier said.

"Despite the circumstances, this doesn't define who you are, Zach." Paul said. "You're not a monster. You're not Glacier either. You are Zach Stemen, a man who has been dealt a bad hand in life. You hate the way things went in your life, but that doesn't mean you should give up on hope. There's always a way to change things around for you for the better. All you have to do is find it and don't give up."

"You really think there's hope for me? Even when I'm like this?" Glacier questioned.

"I do, but that doesn't matter as much as what you think." Paul said. He's hoping he got through to him.

"Perhaps you're right, but I just don't see how. Life just keeps bringing me down." Glacier claimed as it seems like he's just giving up. At least he stopped fighting, but maybe there's still a way. It was about to get worse for him. The ice that froze a building damaged the inner structure. That's what caused a piece of the wall to fall off it and was going to crush down on him.

"Zach, move!" Paul shouted, but Glacier just wouldn't. He's given up too easily and that's why the debris fell right on him and smashed Glacier to pieces. There was no mistaking it this time: Glacier's dead now. Life is filled with ups and downs, and sometimes that can cause people to feel depressed. It's a hard struggle, a lasting battle that many people have lost, and another victim has just been claimed.

...

Sabella's Apartment

After everything that has happened, Paul and the others needed some time. That makes another villain they just couldn't save. Paul washed himself in the shower at Sabella's apartment since he said he would stop by earlier, but he feels like he failed. Glacier didn't deserve to die, especially with how he was feeling. Paul tried to convince him that things could change for the better, but he ended up getting the opposite of what he was going for. Once Paul was done in the shower, he just slipped on his underwear and went to bed.

"Thanks for letting me use that shower. I needed that to get the smell out, and to help me relax." Paul said as Sabella got in next to him.

"Are you going to be okay after what just happened?" Sabella said.

"Yeah... I just wish it didn't have to be that way." Paul said. "I tried to convince Glacier that things could get better, but look what just happened."

"You did what you could, but not everyone as strong as you." Sabella said to comfort him.

"Perhaps, but I can sympathize with him. Life surely has dealt me some serious ups and downs." Paul said. "Gave me these powers, I lost my father, Peter died protecting me, and more."

"But you had good things as well, like you have me for example." Sabella said.

"That's true." Paul said. "Still, it ain't easy. Today for example, I'm about to get evicted from my apartment and I have nowhere else to go. My mother would hate to see me in the homeless shelter she runs." Paul knows his stuff as he had some hard hits himself, but whenever something bad happens, sometimes something equally good happens.

"Well, you could stay here...with me." Sabella said. That was something Paul certainly didn't expect.

"You're asking me to move in?" Paul said as no one has ever asked that before.

"I don't see why we can't live together. We might have only been together for a while, but I think it works for best of us." Sabella said. No one has ever asked him to move in with them before.

"If you're sure about this, I think it would be great." Paul said as he pulled her in and kissed her. There's always going to be ups and downs in life. It's how we handle him that matters; but as Paul gets an up, a major down is coming his way.
