"Your lucky Shoto." Kuri complained. "Weaving thread is easy. Weaving a broom is haaaard."
"That's so you'll have one more chance to back out." Mana grinned and winked.
"No, I think its so the bride and groom will understand the difficulties of a life together." Shoto said, not getting the joke.
"Aw Shoto!" Reiko patted his back. "Loosen up."
Kuri struggled, weaving in her charms and talismans. "Leave him alone you two. This must be hard for him too."
"No I've been done for hours."
"WHAT?!" Kuri jumped up but her sisters pushed her back down. "You could offer to help!"
"That is against the custom, is it not?"
Kuri grumbled, grabbing his hand and continuing her work with her other hand.
"Don't you need this hand?"
"Nope." Kuri didn't turn around. "I need my hand to be in yours."
Shoto stared at her for a long while, still having a hard time believing that she had chosen HIM. He sat down nearby, hand in hers, watching her work as she wove their lives together.
As he did, he played with the thread he had woven, touching the bits of crystal and gems he'd woven again. He'd wanted it to be beautiful, valuable, and strong, like his bride.
But he didn't want her to see it yet. He was more than a little embarrassed, and he knew Mana would laugh at him.
Besides. It was for Kuri's eyes only.
He squeezed her hand. These were the things that would make up their marriage.
