Kaneki found Kuri training in the cellar. She looked amazing, practicing Lotis Style Martial Arts.

A lot of circular motions, twirls and kicks, and it seemed too pretty to be useful, but he had seen her take down really strong ghouls with it.

"Kuri!" Bad move. Kaneki was sent spinning into the wall, but practice had paid off, and he rotated in the air, kicked off the wall, and landed on his feet.

"Nice." Kuri grinned. "Becoming more agile, young pupil.

"Thanks to you, sensei.

"Ok ok, why are you here?" Kuri laughed. "No way you're here just to take a beating. You can do that all on your own."

Kaneki grimaced. "Your not wrong." He looked at her. "I'm here to ask if you can turn me back into a human."

Kuri paused. "Th-Theoretically."

"Mr Yoshimura said that too." Kaneki said. "What does that mean?"

"It means I can, but it's inadvisable." She looked up at him. "And almost certain to backfire. Do you still wish to try?"

"I'll try anything." Kaneki breathed, forgetting the danger to her.

"Very well."

Kuri came to him and took both his hands.

"The bond which was not to be done,

Give us the power to see it undone,

And turn it back to whence it was begun."

And then all hell broke loose.

Xxx

The next thing Kuri knew, she and Kaneki were spinning thru the air. They both smashed into opposite walls, and then slid down them.

Kuri looked at Kaneki. There was a gold ring encircling him, and when she looked down, there was one around her too.

"Shit."

Kaneki ran over and helped her up. "I take it this is the backfire."

"Yup." Kuri stood. "It's called an ensorcellment."

"That sounds bad." Kaneki said, inviting an explanation.

"It means that we are bonded." Kuri sighed. "It's similar to what happens when I seal kagune. I temporarily see into their hearts, become them, as I bind their kakuho. But this bond…is permanent."

"How strong is it?" Kaneki asked. "Can you read my mind?"

"Nah." Kuri laughed. "It's a feeling thing. And only if you or I feel strongly. Anger, Lust, that sort of thing. Oh. And Pain. We're fine."

"As long as neither of us feels extreme pain."
