"What!?"

"Wait what!?"

"What did you just say!?"

"How could you!?"

There's a moment in everybody's life where they learn that the world is not all sunshine and rainbows, a moment where people understand that not everyone is going to be as kind as you think. For many it could be a scammer online, or the friend that you thought you could trust, it could even be as simple as your parents warning you about taking candy from strangers.

But unfortunately all those memories were wiped from Izuku's mind.

So when the strange blond haired boy told him, "Don't worry Midoriya-san, this meal is on me." Midoriya Izuku foolishly accepted, thinking that he might have been a former friend of his.

But after he paid for the meal he just had to say, "Since I was kind enough to pay for that meal, would you mind doing me a favour?" And in that shabby chair by the even shabbier ramen cart, Izuku's misfortune senses started to tingle.

But being unfortunately in the boy's debt, and forgetting the wallet that got him in this mess in the first place Izuku relented. 'What could be the worst that could happen?' He thought, 'He could just refuse the request if it went too far.' The naive boy thought.

"ATTENTION CLASS 1A!"

What he didn't expect was the favour being coming to the Class 1A dorms with him.

"I HAVE COME TO PROUDLY INFORM YOU THAT YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST!"

"Just play along…" Was all he told Izuku.

"Monoma what the hell are you on about?" Kaminari questioned.

"…and I won't charge you a single cent." Is what he said after that.

Monoma gave him the smuggest grin he had ever seen. "I'll have you know that Midoriya-kun here has decided to join Class 1B!"

"EHHHH!?" The whole dorm yelled out.

"HAHAHAHAHA! YES! With the power that defeated Todoroki Shoto along with my own copy ability, Class 1A will finally come to an undeniable defeat!"

"What!?"

"Wait what!?"

"What did you just say!?"

"How could you!?"

With the entire classes attention suddenly on him, Midoriya Izuku could only say one thing.

"I'm sorry?"

That was unfortunately the wrong thing to say.

A sobbing Kaminari and Mineta suddenly knelt before him, the meaning of distraught writen all over their salt filled, pathetically pleading eyes. "M-Midoriya-sama… I-I…"

"We-we…"

*SLAM*

The duo slammed their heads down onto the dusty floorboards. "We will follow you, no matter what path you choose. For that is the path of the sigma!"

"The path of the what?" Izuku silently regretted agreeing to this, no amount of chemically laden back alley ramen would ever make up for this.

"YOU IDIOT!" / "YOU IDIOTS!"

*BOP* *BZZT* *SCREECH*

A giant fist and a pair of earphone jacks reached out and attacked the idiot trio.

"Uhhhh ehehehehe…" Izuku slowly crept away.

"Oh! Midoriya-san! I'm so sorry for whatever this idiot tried to pull." The orange haired girl apologised.

"Oh no no no, you don't have to apologise for anything!" If anything, Izuku wanted to apologise for basically getting a free lunch. "Here, let me help carry him back."

"It's fine I can carry his sorry butt with just one hand."

"Please I insist…" Izuku awkwardly glanced over at the still expectant Class 1A, and the two being buzzed to oblivion by Jirou Kyoka.

"Sure, I guess?"

With one arm over the girl and the other over Midoriya, the pair quickly left the dorm.

"So how have you been? I haven't seen you in action since the sports festival."

'URP!' Izuku realised that he didn't remember this girl, he didn't even remember her name!

"I-I'm doing fine. Well, as fine as I can be…"

"Oh right, sorry about digging up old wounds."

"What? Old wounds?"

"I-I mean, you know… not being in the hero course and all."

"Oh that." Honestly Izuku still hadn't figured it all out yet. "That parts fine really, I'm happy where I am."

"Oh, that's good I guess. But still everyone thought you were going to win after you beat Todoroki, I mean you practically did if it weren't for… Never mind."

Wait, what never mind? This could be a big key in restoring his lost memories!

"But still, there's no way I could have won anyway right?" Izuku attempted to steer the flow of the conversation.

"Right…" The girl's voice slowly petered away, but was obviously full of doubt. "But just so you know, I would gladly have you in our class than this buffoon over here. If only Vlad-sensei did that expulsion thing on Day 1 too." Nudging at the unconscious blonde.

"Eh, everyone keeps saying that but honestly I'm not that great of a guy. I can't even keep up with my normal studies, throwing me into the hero course is like throwing a penguin out of a plane. I'm probably put in the place I belong, because I'm not meant to fly that high."

"I disagree, academic studies doesn't equate to heroics. I mean sure we do have our share of studies, but being a hero is so much more than that fundamentally. I know many people in my class who aren't the best academically, but when it comes to being out in the field, they can and will deliver."

"You're just saying that because I beat Todoroki-san right? Because this right hand of mine can negate any quirk, I could theoretically beat anyone in a one on one unarmed battle. But that doesn't make me a good hero, that just makes me a good fighter, and a very situational fighter at that. Pull a gun and I'm dead, pull a sword and I'm gone, heck just have some decent hand to hand skill and you win! Literally anyone in your class could probably defeat me."

"So you think that Endeavour is the epitome of a hero?"

"Huh?"

"Sorry that came out of left field. What I'm trying to say is do you think that being able to beat any enemy without a scratch, and solve every case without a hitch is what it means to be a hero?"

"It certainly is the foundation of being a hero. You know? Being a peace keeper."

The orange haired girl shook her head. "Keeping the peace and being a peace keeper are two different things Midoriya-san. Sure it's the job of a professional hero to stop crime and defeat villains, but that's not what a true hero is."

The words of a crazy serial killer suddenly came to Izuku's mind.

"Then what is? Are you gonna say something like having heart? Because I hate to break it to you, having all the kindness in the world doesn't save lives, actually rescuing people does. This Midoriya-san learned that the hard way more times than he like to admit."

"But that isn't what Midoriya-san truly believes isn't it? Why else would you have done that during the race."

'Done what?'

"Oh! Here we are!" The pair walked up to the entrance of the dorms.

"Just let him down here."

"Right here?" Izuku slowly moved Monoma's arm off his shoulder.

"Yep!"

*THUD*

"Owwww…" Monoma groaned, landing face first into the concrete was quite the wake up call.

The doors opened and a short, brown haired girl peeked through. "Kendo-chan? Did you manage to find Monoma-san an- AHH! M-Midoriya-san!?"

"Umm, hi?" Izuku waved.

"Ah perfect timing Komori-chan!" Kendo smiled. "Midoriya-san here was kind enough to help us drag Monoma back after the embarrassing stunt he made him pull."

Komori's eyes became very visible behind her bangs as they gleamed a furious red. "He made him do what?"

"GEIK!" Monoma felt a strong grip pull on his collar.

"We're going to have a nice long chat over some mushrooms, Monoma-san…"

A loud scream could be heard as the petite girl single handedly dragged the blonde through the doors.

"A-Anyway, thanks for the help Midoriya-san!" Kendo smiled a little too happily.

"N-No problem Kendo-san…"

"Try to remember what I said alright? And if you have any doubts, just rewatch the sports festival feed. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to see the hero that I saw there."

Rewatch the sports festival feed? Why didn't he think of that before!?

"I'll make sure to take note of that!" Izuku said a final farewell before rushing back to his dorm room.

It looks like Izuku just saved 500 yen filling his stomach, and now he was going to fill his mind with what hopefully was old memories.

But unfortunately they would not all be good ones…
