Regulus POV
November 18, 1978, Friday.
I am eating breakfast in the Great Hall. Or was going to eat when suddenly any food that students pick up turns into sand. Everyone is shocked and angry about it. I am going to kill my brother and stupid friends for this one. WE HAD BACON FOR BREAKFAST! I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING IT BUT NO! SIRIUS AND HIS STUPID FRIENDS JUST HAD TO RUIN IT! THE ONLY THING I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO! WHAT IF I WAS SUICIDAL? WHAT IF THAT WAS MY LAST STRAW?
I go about my day just a little more ticked off than normal.
Skip to when he meets with James.
James was shockingly there before me today. Then again, everything is 10 times harder now with my day going so badly.
"Hey, lion heart, how did you like the prank?" James said, looking chipper than he should be. 'What if I give him the silent treatment? Cause I think if I said anything to him, I would either yell until I lose my voice or have a mental breakdown over the bacon I didn't have today. Or both. Wait, did he just call me lion's heart?' My heart sped up a bit at the thought, yes he did exactly that. 'Stupid fucking Gryffindor, boy. I hate him. Do I actually. . .REMEMBER THE LOST BACON! THIS MAN DOES NOT DESERVE TO BREATHE WITH A STUPID CUTE SMIRK AND GLASSES THAT FALL OFF HIS NOSE WHEN HE IS CONCENTRATED ON SOMETHING! OR HOW HIS TONGUE SLIDES IN BETWEEN HIS LIPS WHEN HE IS TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING! Wait. Fuck, I am in love, aren't I? Of course, it took a stupid prank for me to realize. It wouldn't be James Potter if it wasn't.
"If you don't like the nickname I ca-" Fuck I was quiet too long. Damn your thoughts.
"NO! No. I like it. I was just thinking about what I should say about the dumb prank that you pulled today. You ruined the bacon I was looking forward to."
"There is bacon every day for breakfast."
"Yes, but today in particular I was looking forward to having some Potter."
"Okay, okay, what if next time we meet up, I bring you bacon as an apology for ruining your bacon?"
"I guess that will do."
We stare at each other for a few seconds and we just start laughing.
I stop my laughter sooner than James, just giggling a bit. 'He looks really pretty when he laughs. Yup, I definitely have a crush, don't I?'
December 15th, 1978, Wednesday, After dinner
James POV
'Ugh, Peter, Remus, and Sirius have been bugging me for a while now about meeting him.'
"Okay, Gryffindor boy, what has got you so quiet?" Regulus asks me, looking at my eyes, one of his eyebrows cocked up in questioning. "You are never this quiet when you work. You are always talking about random stuff while you do it. Like how you and Sirius put all those pictures up in his old room. So, what is up?"
'Well, it is now or never.'
"Sirius, Remus, and Peter want to know about you." Regulus is silent, expression blank. James has learned by now that means he is hiding it on purpose so he won't get hurt.
"Hm, is that so?"
"Regulus, I know you don't know most of them that well, but I promise they won't tell. You just gotta trust me. Okay, lion's heart?"
Regulus looks at me, holding an emotion back. I am ready to say that it was a joke or something when he speaks.
"Okay, I guess I trust you guys." His voice is raw with emotions that feel like they will slip out the second the walls fall.
"Okay. Thank you for trusting me. You don't have to do it soon-"
"Get them now before I regret doing this."
"Are- are you sure? You don't have to do this-"
"James. Get them now."
"Okay? OKAY! Okay! I am going! Stay right here, don't move!"
I could hear Regulus laughing as I ran to get my friends.
Regulus POV
'Merlin, I am really doing this, aren't I? I trust the stupid git with my life now.'
James POV
I find the boys in the dorms.
"Hey James, how was your secret friend? Oh. Wait. You won't tell us anything-"
"He wants to meet you guys." Sirius blinks. He was not expecting that response from James.
"Really?" Remus asks.
"Really Remus. Like right now."
"WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR! WORMTAIL GET OUT OF YOUR BED! MOONY GET THE CHOCOLATE! LET'S GO RIGHT NOW!"
And somehow, in 30 seconds, they had everything they needed.
"Okay, just a warning. You guys are. . .aware of this person already. And I am going to need everyone to stay calm and collected, okay Sirius?"
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever, it can't be like Snape." Sirius says jokingly, then becomes serious. "It's not Snape right?"
"No Sirius it is not Snape let's go."
'Let's hope it goes well.'
I bring them to the secret part of the library.
"Wow, I have never been here somehow. We need to add it to the map." Remus says.
"Okay guys, you can tell no one that we are friends with this person. That is his one rule, and you guys better respect it. Okay?"
"We will." They all somehow say in unison. Fucking creepy.
I take a deep breath and lead them to Regulus.
"REGULUS!"
