After thirty minutes of walking, I started to see some cabins and the odd person or two walking on the same path as me. They looked like they didn't want to be bothered, and didn't care to look at the man covered in bruises and dried blood.

That man was me, the bruises were painful and the bullet felt like it was slowly slipping out of my back. I now realised I had rapid regeneration and my health was now at 52/100.

I decided to try and remedy the situation so once I was completely sure no one was nearby, I pulled out a carrot from my [Inventory] and washed it in a nearby stream which I made sure was potable.

I took a big bite out of it and saw my HP ticked up from 52 to 53, so I gnawed the rest of it down and in total one carrot gave me three HP.

I took out the other ten carrots from my inventory and stuffed them down my throat as quickly as I could, with my stomach hurting in the end. On top of my passive regeneration I was now at 88. The bullet slipped out of my back and now my bruises started to heal up.

I saw the town in the distance and started jogging over. After miles and miles of walking I finally reached a proper settlement. I passed a sign that read 'Burula' and looked at my surroundings.

There was a butcher's shop to my left, a tailor to my right, some food stalls just up ahead and some houses further on. I patted my pockets just in case and looked through my inventory to find out I was flat broke.

How is someone who isn't from here supposed to find a job? I shrugged and walked on, only for some words to catch my ear.

"Who wants to work in Bata's legendary butchery? You can have all the meat you want, just come on down and experience the taste of the Fumi Fumi no mi." A barker said enthusiastically, to no one in particular, I turned my head and we locked eyes.

"Hey! Are you interested in working for Bata's legendary butchery?" Fuck yes I was. I had nothing to do here and I was gonna starve if I didn't raid the farm a second time, so I walked over with a spring in my step.

"Hey man, how's it going?" I held my fist out and he just looked at it confused. "It's a fist bump." I simply said, scratching my neck.

"Alright whatever." The man said. "Let's go inside and meet Bata." He dragged me along and I just followed along, not saying a word.

I entered a room and I saw a taller man who looked to be of middle eastern descent sitting down on an office chair, he smiled up to his ears and started to talk.

"Welcome friend, are you here for the job openings?" I nodded and he held a hand out, I shook it and sat down on one of the seats. I felt a little curious about this man so I used [Observe] on him.

[Flavour Human]

Age: 20-35

Sex: Possibly Male

Well, I definitely needed to level this skill up some more, but this was useful. It seemed this man was the one who ate the Fumi Fumi no mi as the barker was saying.

"Well, let's have a little look-see about what positions are available." He took out a binder and quickly sorted through the pages with movements that seemed practiced and etched into his muscle memory.

"Meatcutter- no, Inspector- no," he said, before flicking to the third page. "Hunter's available, you have a gun, right?" I nodded.

"I don't have many bullets left if that's gonna be a problem." I said, leaning back and making myself comfortable.

"Don't worry, our other hunter can spot you some bullets." Bata said. "We'll send you out and see if you can do the job, the other hunter will just be watching over you, making sure you don't die." I nodded and crossed my arms.

"So when will we start?" I asked, feeling a little bored.

"Well, whenever he arrives." He said, as his eyes widened and a door opened. "Speak of the devil."

I turned around and a tall man in casual attire walked in. He seemed pretty normal aside from the giant shotgun slung across his back.

"Alright, you two, head up the forest, get ready and get enough meat for today, we've got a special guest." He said, shortly standing up and making his way to the butchery.

I decided to take a look and see what he did, maybe get a glimpse of his devil fruit. He extended his hand out and a purple glow enveloped a large steak stuck on a hook, it seemed to add a subtle glow to it, and it definitely was more appetizing.

"Oi, whatcha' starin' at mate, we gotta kill some hogs." He said in an Australian accent. I turned and followed the other man, albeit hesitantly, as I wanted to sneak in a few more peeks before we went, after all, I had never seen a devil fruit in action before.

-

I spotted an elk in the distance and raised my rifle, the other man just loitered by a tree and kept close watch of me. It seemed like he was annoyed to be here, and I suppose I would be too if I had to watch someone hunt for an hour without any results.

I looked between the iron sights and adjusted the gun so that the bullet would hit the head. While I had played airsoft before and was pretty decent, I felt like my accuracy increased by a large margin. It must've been my starter points in dexterity working as I almost perfectly adjusted my aim back to its head whenever it moved.

I held my breath for a few moments, exhaled and let loose a shot.

Bullseye. It collapsed straight away and I fist pumped, I looked back at the other man and I swear to god he had a smirk plastered on his face, but it changed the moment I looked at him.

"Oi, whatcha starin' at? You need to drag it back or the bears'll take it." He said and I quickly ran up to the elk, pulling it across the dirt by the legs, the animal was incredibly heavy and the other man just smirked.

"Do you at least have a goddamn wagon?" I said, already starting to breathe heavily, but eventually I made my way to the dirt path.

"Didn't come with one, won't come out with one." He said, matter of factly.

I groaned and prepared myself mentally, grabbing it tight and pushing off my legs. While my power didn't exactly double, I noticed that the increase in brawn with my starter stats definitely helped out in this situation, not as much as I would've liked, but that's just how life goes.

The next few miles back to the butchery was hell, by the end of it my legs were aching, I could barely breathe and I was sweating all over. I got lightheaded many times and almost fainted once without the help of the other man, I was done.

On the way, I figured out his name was in-fact Hunter, which was quite fitting, though it looked like he

preferred to sit on his ass more than actually hunting.

Right now, I was just relaxing by the side of the building, waiting for Bata to invite me in, he was apparently 'grading' the meat right now and wouldn't allow any distractions.

I quickly recovered my energy, and I stood up, feeling as if I hadn't dragged an elk for miles, which was pretty nice of the system, though I couldn't really trust it that much. The quick regeneration was probably so I could go in and out of action quicker so that they could keep themselves entertained, fuckin' bastards.

Bata opened up the door and gestured for me to get inside his office, and I obliged, walking up to him.

We continued on until we got to the butchery, where men were cutting up various types of meat and throwing the bones into a compost bin, others were selling slabs of meat at the till and Bata held out his hand and enhanced pieces of meat that weren't affected by his abilities.

"After a meticulous checkover I have determined that you are fit to be a hunter and work for us. The delivery time could be quicker yet I or Hunter had failed to provide a wagon, for that I will apologise." He said, taking a moment to breathe.

"We get most of our meat from farms but you guys are a good help. I'll give you 10,000 Beri for your work today, you're free to go now." He slipped some cash into my palm and quickly made my way out.

I was directionless, and I didn't plan on staying a hunter long, I didn't want to get smited by the people who sent me here for being boring. I needed action, or at least, that was a precaution, I didn't know anything for certain and it was better to be safe than sorry.
