Chapter 13: U.S.J. - A Dance with Danger
There will be times where you'll have to fight… keep your light burning strong.
(Play: MHA OST - Enemy Strike)
Aizawa and Thirteen, thanks to Sora's reaction, were ready for what was happening as Aizawa glared at the portal, which was expanding.
"Stay together and don't move!" Aizawa ordered Class 1-A, causing them to gasp at their teacher's sudden change of tone, "Thirteen, protect the students!"
"Whoa!" Kirishima stepped back in shock, "What the heck is that?!"
"...Trouble." Sora responded gravely, "We've got company, and not the good type."
"Whaddya mean? Has the training started yet?"
Midoriya was about to move forward, but Sora's Keyblade in his right hand stopped him in his tracks, and Aizawa shouted, "STAY BACK!"
He flinched at the tone as Aizawa put on his yellow goggles, looking slightly worried. "This is real. Those are Villains."
Everybody took a step back in shock. Villains? At U.A.? How did they get here, and why were they here? They began to quiver slightly in fear, not knowing what to do. Sora noticed this, and the desire to protect burned stronger than ever in his heart as he gripped his Kingdom Key tighter.
This isn't good. We're gonna be outnumbered. he thought. The expanding portal had summoned more and more villains of all shapes and sizes with different types of Quirks, but the one that got Sora's attention was the person in the middle.
He was very slim, very close to skin and bones, and was slouching a bit like he had a hunchback, though it seemed more like he was more bored than anything else. He had hands all over his body, from the front and back of his head to his arms and shoulders. Something told him that like Shoto's costume, this accessory was sending a message.
But what caught Sora's attention was the darkness in his heart. It was showing clear as day to him, in a purplish dark aura. This must be the biggest threat right now, and the ringleader for this attack.
He had to be taken down first. If the darkness attracted Heartless here, he wasn't sure if everyone could survive.
"The only real Heroes that I see are Thirteen and Eraser Head," Sora heard a deep voice speak through the portal. "Intriguing. According to the schedule we retrieved from U.A., All Might should be here as well."
What? They knew?! Sora gasped with shock. The void then summoned one final villain, and suddenly, the void disappeared, shrinking into the person. It had bright yellow eyes, similarly shaped like an Unversed's eyes.
This guy was their portal. He brought them all here. Sora immediately decided to switch targets. If they wanted a chance to subdue the enemy, they had to take out their method of transportation.
"So…" Aizawa snarled, "You scumbags used the press as a cover and sneaked onto campus."
That was when it clicked for Sora. The reason for that big threat level breach. It was all a distraction for them to sneak in.
"Where is he?" the boy with hands all over him asked in a husky voice, "I went through all this trouble to bring a few 'friends' eager to meet him. They want the Great Symbol of Peace, and he doesn't even show. I don't believe it." the boy then looked up to where Sora was, "Perhaps if I kill a few of his kids, he'll come out to play."
You'll have to get past me first, you creep. Sora thought mentally, his left fist clenching as he gritted his teeth in fury, I'm not letting you kill my friends!
"Oooh… the one in front is all ready to fight, isn't he? Does he think of himself as a Hero already? Perhaps I'll start with him." the boy snickered wickedly, "He could be worth my time if All Might doesn't show up."
(Play: MHA OST - Threat Incoming)
"Real Villains?" Eijiro thought aloud, "No way. How could so many of them get into a U.A. facility this secure?"
"I agree. It should be impossible." Momo nodded, "Thirteen-sensei, why aren't the alarms going off?"
"Good question. I'm not sure." Thirteen responded.
Recalling how the late MCP hacked the defense system in Radiant Garden in his last adventure in Space Paranoids, Sora knew that there was only one logical answer: Sabotage. Somebody must have infiltrated or tampered with the security system, which was why they were able to sneak in the other Villains without any indication.
Shoto voiced his thoughts, "Is the entire campus under attack, or is this their only target? Either way, if the alarms aren't being triggered, one of these Villains must have a Quirk that's masking their presence. They chose this facility specifically as an entry point, at a time when class was in session." he narrowed his eyes, "They're fools for trespassing, but they thought this through. What is their plan?"
"They're after All Might, Shoto." Sora answered, "I overheard the hand creep talking. They want him dead, and they probably chose this time because here his guard would be down. But since he's not here, they're gonna be after us. We're their targets now."
That did not help his classmates at all, as Sora could see them tense up even more. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to say the last few phrases.
"Thirteen, get the students out of here. Alert the main campus." Aizawa told her, before stepping up front, "Wait… if they have the ability to block our sensors, they might be jamming our regular communications too." Aizawa looked to Kaminari, "Kaminari, try using your Quirk to contact the school."
"Got it sensei." Denki responded, using his Quirk on a radio strapped to his ear. Sora also put a hand to his AR Device to try and get in touch with somebody outside.
Great. His AR Device was still functional, but it couldn't get a signal. It was overall unaffected by the sensor distortion, at least for the moment. He had to get outside.
(Play MHA OST - Runaway Battle)
He overheard Midoriya worrying over Aizawa as he walked outside quickly in a burst of Flowmotion. He got out, getting a signal, and contacted the only U.A. student number he had that wasn't from Class 1-A.
"Pick up, pick up…" Sora said frantically.
10 seconds later, he made contact.
"Sora?" he heard Pony's voice over his AR Device. Her voice was there, but it was slightly distorted, "What are you doing? I had to ask to go to the bathroom because of you! Why are you calling me now?!"
"Pony, I'm sorry for this quick call." he explained, "But we're under attack. There's Villains at the USJ and their numbers are growing. It might be too much for Professor Aizawa to handle."
"What did you say? Something about Villains?"
"Listen, I need you to warn the other teachers!" Sora explained, "They're after All Might, but they've set their sights on us." He ignored Pony's comment as he looked back to the entrance at the sounds of battle, "No time to explain. I have to protect my friends! Go tell the teachers that we're under attack! Please!"
"Sora wai-!" He heard Pony shout before he heard static. Oh no. They'd finally managed to jam his signal. He hoped Pony had heard what he said. But from the looks of things, he sounded garbled on her end.
He couldn't get to the school fast enough to alert the others. If he left, he'd be leaving the others defenseless, and Thirteen could only do so much.
Nuts. he thought, Me and my bleeding heart.
With another burst of Flowmotion, he rushed back into the USJ.
He came back just in time to see Aizawa knocking down some Villains. He had just punched a four-armed villain in the face, sending him flying, before using his scarf to pull his target into another attacker, who Eraser Head had already planted a kick into, launching them towards two more, before slamming the bound villain in his scarf into them.
"Now which one of you punks is next?" Eraser Head dared.
"There he goes, trying to intimidate us." the hand-covered teen noted "He's strong and since he's hiding behind those goggles, you can't tell who's Quirk he's erasing. He's making it hard for us to work together or rely on each others' powers. How annoying."
Sora had to admit: Professor Aizawa was very skilled for a person who could fight hand to hand. If only he could say the same for himself.
"The worst thing about dealing with Pros, is when they live up to all their hype."
Eraser Head's hair suddenly went down, and Sora could barely discern the void person narrowing his yellow eyes. He then noticed that he, Meow Wow, and Izuku were the only ones standing there. The others had already made a break for the exit.
"Midoriya-kun, Sora-kun, this is no time to be analyzing!" Tenya shouted to them, "We need to go!"
Midoriya followed, but Sora noticed that the void guy was moving. He realized what was about to happen, and rushed after his classmates.
"Look out!" he called out.
Too late. The Villain had already warped himself in front of the exit, looking rather intimidating. If Sora didn't know any better, it would've been a very massive Possessor Heartless.
(Play: MHA OST - Villain Invasion)
"There is no escape for you." He began, making himself twice as big for intimidation, "It is a pleasure to meet you. We are the League of Villains. I know it's impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello."
"How very kind of you." Sora said sarcastically, getting into his stance, "Now what? You gonna sing and dance for us and hope we get along?"
"As much as I find that entertaining and useful for forging some sort of bond, we have a different goal in mind, little hero," the void man explained, "Isn't this a fitting place for All Might, the Symbol of Peace, to take his last breath? I believe he was supposed to be here today and yet I see no sign of him. There must be some sort of change in plans we did not foresee. No matter." The void man narrowed his eyes, "You still all have roles to play."
Thirteen was about to use her Quirk, but stopped as Katsuki and Eijiro lunged towards him, Eijiro swinging his fist and Katsuki following up with an explosion.
"Did you think we were just gonna stand around and let you tear this place apart?" Eijiro asked cockily, with his guard up.
"You live up to your school's reputation." The void man complimented, before revealing himself in the smoke from the explosion, a metal brace around his body, "But you should be more careful, children. Otherwise, someone might get hurt."
"You two, get out of the way, now!" Thirteen ordered, aiming her Quirk at the void man.
"Too sl-!" the void man began, before he heard a blur behind him. He turned around, seeing a clearly angry Sora in the air, his Keyblade poised and ready to strike.
"Gotcha." he said simply, and swung his blade.
The result was an explosion of light that blinded Class 1-A and Thirteen as Sora landed on the ground. It was a direct hit.
But to his surprise, he saw that the void man was still standing, but was clearly stunned from Sora's attack. He had managed to actually hurt him.
"Sora-san! Get out of here! Warn the staff!" Thirteen called out to Sora.
"But what about-?" Sora was about to ask, before he noticed the void man suddenly shift his body around.
"Impressive, young warrior. You're smarter than you look." he complimented, before his void-like body expanded, "But it's not enough!"
Sora saw the danger and slid under the void man's reach and back to his friends.
"I'll scatter you across this facility, to meet my comrades, and your deaths!"
He surrounded them in black smoke, but Sora saw Tenya managing to pull Ochaco and Mina away, and Mezo, Hanta, and Rikido were protected thanks to Mezo's arms.
"Defense!" Sora shouted, reacting quickly and summoning the translucent hexagonal barrier around the first three he could see: Momo, Kyoka, and Denki, before his vision suddenly went black.
(Play: KH Re:Chain of Memories OST - Castle Oblivion)
As Pony put her phone down, she couldn't help but worry about the situation. She had barely gotten anything that Sora had said when he called her very abruptly. She had managed to make out "Villains", and "under attack." in Sora's brief phone call before the line suddenly went dead. She had tried calling him again, but to her dismay, she got no response.
As she exited out of the bathroom, she looked around, searching for anything suspicious. Was it all a trick or a prank? She had barely known Sora, but he didn't seem like a guy who would do that. But when she walked down to where Class 1-A's room was, she found nobody there.
Where were they?
She remembered that there were many facilities here in U.A., so Sora and his class could be in any of them. Weren't they currently in Hero Studies right now?
And Sora had mentioned villains. How did Villains get past U.A.'s security in the first place?
It didn't matter. If Sora and his class were under attack from Villains, and if she couldn't get a response from her friend, she had to do something. But if she did and it turned out to be false, then she'd probably get in trouble for that in addition to missing the rest of her class.
She weighed her options for a few seconds.
"Ah, screw it," she muttered to herself.
Instead of turning back to Class 1-B, she went straight for the teacher's lounge.
And bumped straight into someone almost immediately.
"Ack!" she yelped, losing her balance.
"Oh. Sorry about that." the person said bluntly, surprisingly in English, and Pony looked up, "What are you doing out here?"
"Uhh… Looking for a teacher?" she asked, "I think a friend of mine's in trouble."
"I see." they nodded, "You must be a student here. I'm looking for someone who might be in your class."
"You are?"
"Yes." the person asked, "Do you know a guy with spiky hair?"
(Silence)
Next thing he knew, Sora was on the ground in the center of the plaza. He was quick to see a hand reaching out for him, but Sora summoned his Keyblade in reverse grip and whacked the hand away, before rolling back onto his feet a good distance away from his attacker. He saw Meow Wow appear right besides him, looking very concerned.
He looked towards his attacker, which was the kid with hands all over him.
"Not afraid to get your hands dirty, aren't you?" Sora commented.
"Which hand are you referring to, kid?" the teen asked, "I have many of them to go around."
"The ones that aren't currently being used like trophies." he spat, pointing his Keyblade to the handful of a teen, "And why me, specifically? Shouldn't you be targeting the guy that's kicking your army's butts?"
"You're the one who's so eager to die out of everyone in your class, so I figured you wouldn't mind being first," the teen replied, laughing, "Besides, I don't need to worry about Eraser Head. My friend, Nomu, can deal with him. It gives me the pleasure of dusting you and your pathetic classmates and wounding the pride of the Symbol of Peace!"
"I wouldn't underestimate them, creep." Sora retorted dangerously, "They won't go down without a fight, and neither will I."
"We'll have to see… assuming you survive." the teen's visible red eye became slits in response, "Nomu, deal with Eraser Head. Break him, but do not kill him."
On command, the big guy next to the hand-covered teen began lumbering over to the Pro Hero. That had to be Nomu, and he looked like a zombie from a horror movie with that exposed brain of his. Eraser Head knocked a villain away, and Sora gasped as he saw that his elbow was withering away, exposing the raw red skin underneath. What had happened?
He had no time to react or think as he saw Nomu grab a loose end of Aizawa's scarf, before it pulled the Pro towards him. Using his free hand, he began to pummel Eraser Head to the ground.
"No! Mr. Aizawa!" he shouted in English.
(Play: FF7 Remake OST - A Trap is Sprung)
He almost didn't see the group of villains running towards him. Almost. Sora reacted and jumped over a villain who tried to tackle him with their rock-covered hands, before whacking his Kingdom Key down on his attacker, nailing his neck and knocking him out. Two others were about to hit him from both sides with a pincer attack, but at the last minute, Sora jumped over them, letting them run into each other.
"Meow Wow, now!" he called out to his Dream Eater, and it appeared before him, before he positioned himself on top of it, before both of them fell and body slammed the two dazed villains. They did this about 6 times before the two leapt off, leaving the two villains out of breath and out of commission.
Sora dismounted from Meow Wow, but then was suddenly grabbed by a big villain from behind, who attempted to squeeze the life out of him. The Keyblade wielder headbutted the guy with all his might, causing him to let go and cover his face, yelping in pain. Rolling under the guy's legs, he spun around as he got up and slammed the blade right into the villain's back, sending him staggering right into Meow Wow's direction. In response, the Dream Eater rammed itself into the villain, knocking him back to Sora, who finished it with a downward strike, sending his face to the floor and knocking him out cold.
Sora looked around as another came at him from the left, creating blades from his body to throw at the Hero of Light. Sora responded by repelling them with relative ease, before blocking three more strikes from the villain. This was surprisingly easy, given the guy had no real fighting style, which left a bunch of openings for Sora to exploit. When he got one he could use without hesitation, Sora slipped between them and whacked him with an upward strike. A sickly crunch was heard as teeth fell out of the poor fella as he fell to the ground unceremoniously.
Welp. There's my limit with that guy, Sora thought dryly.
He saw two more coming towards him, and looking back to the big guy, he had a big idea. He grabbed the big Villain, spun him around and flung him towards the final two. One of them was too slow to react and was crushed under the big guy's weight, while the other, leapt into the air in an attempt to attack Sora. But the warrior of light was faster, reacting and using Flowmotion to catch the dude by surprise, whacking him 6 times before performing a downward strike to knock him down into the ground once again, sending him crashing down into the floor, with no signs of getting up.
As Sora turned, he saw that several others were trying to attack him as well, and he turned to Meow Wow, "Ready?"
At that, the Dream Eater yipped and started to inhale air, and with the more air it had, to the villains' shock, the bigger it got. Sora then leapt on Meow Wow, now 4 times larger than before, and called out, "Dual Attack: Whomperstomp!"
At that, Meow Wow began leaping into the air, crashing onto the hapless villains again and again, making a shockwave each time it did so that sent those lucky enough to escape the giant Dream Eater flying away. After 7 slams, Meow Wow deflated like a balloon, before landing back where it started, surrounded by the dazed bodies of the villains it stomped on.
Sora landed on the ground, looking around. Other than the bladed dude with broken teeth, no broken bones and fatalities were dealt with in Sora's defensive stand.
Out of the corner of his eye, Meow Wow whimpered, before suddenly disappearing in a flash of light. Looks like he ran out of magic to keep him here. He frowned slightly, before pulling out an Ether from his pocket, popping it into his mouth to help his magic pool recharge.
(Silence)
He looked over and found Eraser Head being pinned by Nomu, his other arm twisted in a sick angle. No! Sora thought, but before he could act, he saw the void man appear again with his metal brace now visible.
"Tomura Shigaraki." The void man greeted the teen covered in hands.
"Kurogiri." the teen called Tomura replied, turning to the new arrival, "Did you manage to kill Thirteen?"
"The Space Hero is out of commission." the man called Kurogiri responded, "But there were students that, unfortunately, I couldn't dispose of, and they stopped me before I could kill Thirteen. One of them managed to get outside the facility."
(Play: MHA OST - Villain's Theme)
Thank goodness. Sora thought. If somebody managed to get out, then they'd be able to warn the staff, and hopefully come back with backup. He figured Tenya had been the one to escape. He was the second fastest of them.
"See?" he told Tomura, who turned at his voice, seeing his companions out of commission, and the kid putting his key sword over his shoulder, "I told you not to underestimate us, and look where that's getting you."
To add insult to injury to his opponent, Tomura began to scratch his neck irritably at Kurogiri's report and Sora's jab. "Escaped?" he hissed, "Kurogiri you fool! If you weren't our warp gate, I'd tear every last atom on your body apart!"
He relaxed, suddenly, before saying, "Fine. There's no way we can win if dozens of Pros show up and ruin our game. It's game over, now, Kurogiri, and back to the title screen. Damn it," he scratched his neck yet again, "I was looking forward to putting an end to the Symbol of Peace. But it looks like I won't be able to this time. Let's go home."
Sora raised a brow. Was this guy kidding? Did he actually expect this to go smoothly? Some leader this guy was. Every plan was bound to run into flaws, and a team had to be ready for things like that. Not to mention how the heck Kurogiri was going to warp everybody out, or if they would leave the others for dead.
And Shigaraki using video game logic? It reminded Sora a bit of Present Mic's explanation of the Entrance Exam's practical test. Still, it was a bit weird. What kind of life did this guy live?
"But first…" Shigaraki began, looking over to the side, "We should ensure the Symbol of Peace is broken upon his arrival. Let's wreck his pride!"
With that, he lunged, but not towards Sora. Sora turned to where he was lunging, and his heart stopped: Izuku, Tsuyu, and Minoru were floating above the water in the Shipwreck area close by, and Shigaraki was heading right towards them and aiming for Tsu with a hand outstretched!
"No!" Sora shouted, but before he could move, he began to feel something cold all around him. He looked around, and saw that the villains he had knocked out earlier suddenly pushed themselves back to their feet, and to make matters worse, they were emitting a slight dark aura around their bodies.
They were yielding to their darkness to give them strength. To kill the little shrimp that in their minds, humiliated them. Sora noticed that many other Villains Eraser Head had knocked out earlier were rising and in the same condition as the others.
And they were all focused on him.
Not good. He was surrounded by this small army. He wouldn't be able to get to them in time! Sora watched helplessly as Shigaraki grabbed Asui's face, only to see that nothing had happened. Sora was initially confused, and to his surprise, so did Tomura, before the Villain looked behind him.
"You really are so cool…"
(Silence)
Sora then looked over to where Tomura was watching, and saw that Eraser Head had opened his eyes, straining under Nomu's grip. His face was dripping in blood, but he kept his eyes open for as long as he could. Sora realized that he had erased Tomura's Quirk, whatever it was, and prevented him from harming Tsuyu.
However, the relief was short-lived, as Nomu finally slammed Eraser Head back to the ground. Sora was about to react, but the blade guy from before nearly cut across his back, and Sora had to roll away again to prevent himself from getting hit.
He looked around at the villains, growling in frustration. What could he do?
"SMAAAAASSSSHH!"
He heard Izuku roar as he turned around, seeing that Izuku had thrown a punch towards Shigaraki, who was then covered by the surrounding winds. Many of the villains were blown away by the force of this attack, but Sora and the ones corrupted by darkness managed to stay on their feet as the glass containing the lights above the USJ were shattered from the force of Izuku's attack.
Did he get him? Sora thought as the winds subsided. Izuku was wondering the same, while also looking astonished by his arm's good condition, despite launching a very powerful attack that could've broken his bones yet again.
(Play: FF7 Remake OST - Escape From the Shinra Building - Timestamp 1:49)
However, his blood ran cold as he saw that Izuku's fist was met with Nomu's six-pack stomach, and to make matters worse, the big zombie was unharmed. Oh no... It didn't work?! Sora thought with dread, and that's when it clicked.
This was supposed to be All Might's planned killer. This large, zombie-like Villain that had just taken Midoriya's punch like it was nothing, was the one Tomura had brought along to kill the Symbol of Peace. If Izuku's Quirk was similar to All Might's, then unless the Symbol of Peace's Quirk was stronger than his green-haired friend, then All Might was in big trouble when he arrived.
Sora had to duck under the big guy's arms again, before blasting him away with a fireball from his Keyblade. He looked around at the surrounding villains. There was no way he could take them all in his weakened state unless he pulled out an Attraction. But if he did that, he'd have barely any energy to continue fighting.
"You're pretty powerful, just like the prodigy over there," he heard Shigaraki say to Izuku, "This 'Smash' of yours… are you a fan of All Might?" He relaxed a bit, "It doesn't matter. I'm done with you now."
"Hey, boss," he heard one of the villains surrounding him say to Shigaraki, "What do you want to do with this Key Boy here?"
"Kill him. Leave him rotting where he stands." was the reply.
Sora saw Nomu look from Tomura to Izuku, grabbing the terrified boy's arm firmly before raising its free arm to crush him. Tsuyu reacted quickly, knocking Tomura's arm away and sending her tongue out to Izuku in hopes of getting him away. But Shigaraki was about to get a hand on Tsuyu as well.
Sora found himself in a dilemma. He had to get past this legion of villains to get to his friends, but he wasn't sure if he could get there in time. There were too many enemies for him to focus properly on Shigaraki or Nomu and use Airstep. He found the other villains beginning to run towards him, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Shigaraki getting his hands close to Tsuyu and a terrified Minoru, while Nomu was about to crush Izuku's head like a watermelon.
I won't make it in time…! he thought horrified. Deep down, he prayed for a miracle as he watched the terror unfold.
BOOM!
And it did. The sound of doors breaking open stopped everybody in their tracks. Sora looked up to see smoke coming from the entrance. Someone had arrived.
"FEAR NOT, STUDENTS." he heard a booming voice behind him, and saw that back at the entrance, a muscular figure was standing, wearing a suit and a look of fury on his face as he ripped his blue tie off, "FOR WE ARE HERE!"
"Ah," Shigaraki said excitedly, "Looks like our game's got a 'Continue.'"
Wait a minute, Sora thought. We are here?
VROOOOOOOM!
And then just like that, a motorcycle came into view, leaping into the air from the entrance towards the Villains surrounding Sora. It landed on the ground level, skidding as it sent several of the villains flying away and giving Sora room, stopping right in front of him. When he removed his arm covering his face, he had a good look at the driver.
What?! No way…!
There was no mistaking it. Right in front of him, wearing the outfit he had worn the last time Sora had seen him, minus the sleeve on his left arm, which now held a red ribbon on his bicep, was a very familiar face with blonde, spiky hair to rival his own.
"What the?!" Shigaraki shouted, "Who the hell are you?!"
"Cloud?!" Sora exclaimed in shock and joy.
The 1st Class SOLDIER looked around, before revving his bike's engine, spinning around before rushing off towards Villains behind Sora. Sora reacted and rolled away as Cloud drove past the villains behind Sora, catching them off guard.
With the villains distracted, Sora quickly sprung into action, dilating his eyes and using Airstep to strike three Villains down quickly with his blade, before ducking under a fourth and grabbing him by the legs and swinging him around and using his steel-like appendages to his advantage, knocking any who were foolish enough to try and get too close.
Meanwhile, Cloud had driven to the edge of the circle of the villains surrounding the Key Bearer, looking to where he was currently swinging a bad guy around, keeping others at bay. Ducking under several sharp projectiles, the SOLDIER then looked to his left, and decided to drive around the small circle of villains, running into them using the backside of his motorcycle to knock them into the air, one by one, lowering a hand to the ground to balance himself while turning.
Seeing this, Sora swung the villain around again, before launching him into Cloud's direction, where the villain's face painfully met the side of the motorcycle before twirling around and falling flat on his face as Cloud continued to drive away, a compartment near his bike's front wheel opened, which to Sora's surprise, revealed a unbandaged Buster Sword that Cloud pulled out with ease as the compartment then closed.
Cloud then held his sword out in front, blocking the projectiles aimed for him before swinging his blade and struck one of the villains with ease. The others began to rear back as he rushed towards them and swung his blade again, taking down two more.
"Oi, oi, oi," Shigaraki moaned, "Who is this bastard?!"
Sora still couldn't believe it. How in the world was Cloud here? He was so focused on his old comrade that he didn't even see the big villain from earlier lunging towards him with arms outstretched.
"Not today, villain!" he heard All Might rush down, and he turned around just to see the number one Hero land a punch to the villain's gut, taking him down in one blow and sending him flying away into the ground.
"Need some assistance, Young Sora?" he asked him
"A lot, actually." Sora responded, "I take it you're our backup?"
"Indeed." he nodded, "You can thank Young Iida for that."
"No time for chatter, you two!" he heard Cloud shout as he drove the side of his motorcycle into a couple of villains, sending them flying. He had halted his motorcycle rampage and had left many of the villains that had surrounded Sora initially on the ground dazed and broken. Cloud stopped right in front of Sora and All Might, a look of slight annoyance on his face as he placed his broadsword on his back.
"Dammit. First time seeing you in a while and you've already thrown yourself in a tight situation again." he replied, exasperated, "Honestly, you're lucky you've survived all the shit you've been through with that mindset of yours, Sora."
"Sorry. I can't always help it." Sora replied, shrugging, "But shouldn't we focus on the other villains?"
"No worries," Cloud dismounted his bike, "Big guy's got it covered already."
He pointed past the Keyblade wielder, and Sora saw that where All Might had been next to him, was now an empty spot. He then was just able to see the Symbol of Peace suddenly pummel all the remaining Villains one by one in a massive burst of speed, using a single punch each time to knock every villain out.
It was like watching it all in slow motion as the villains were sent into the air from All Might's assault. Sora had to admit, this was very impressive for the Symbol of Peace. He lived up to his hype.
(Play: MHA OST - PLUS ULTRA)
As the villains collapsed to the ground, All Might now had a bloodied Aizawa in his arms, standing in front of Sora and Cloud.
"I'm glad to see you in one piece, Young Sora," All Might told the young Guardian of Light, "I suspected something was wrong when Aizawa and Thirteen didn't answer my calls, so I came with Cloud and his friend over to the USJ. We ran into Young Iida, who told us of the situation. And here we are. I'm sorry we didn't come sooner."
"It's fine. What matters is you're all here." Sora looked over to the other individual, "But what about you?"
"We already knew something was off before we grouped up with All Might," Cloud told Sora, "Got the memo when I bumped into a friend of yours while I was wandering U.A.…"
(Flashback)
Cloud couldn't believe it.
He had flown here just last night all the way from the other side of the world, and when he got over to U.A. the next morning, he and his friend met up with Nezu to let him know they had arrived, and were also notified that Sora was currently in class.
Now the only thing left was to find him. No luck so far.
"Try asking some people." Cloud's companion had advised him, "Maybe they know where he is."
"I'll do what I can." he simply said.
And he did, though he wouldn't deny it was kind of awkward. Talking to others even now was still very difficult for him. He simply asked for a guy with spiky hair like him to a couple of the students, but they merely shook their heads, leaving the two to stand there awkwardly before Cloud took his leave seconds later without saying good day. So much for forging connections here to boost good business.
Now he was face to face with a blonde-haired girl who had horns on her head.
"Spiky hair?" she asked aloud.
"Yeah. Have you seen or know anybody like that?" Cloud asked her.
"Wait…" she processed his information, before perking up, "Are you looking for Sora?"
Finally, a lead. Cloud nodded, "I'm an old friend of his. Haven't seen him in a while, so I came around here when I heard he was applying for U.A.. Any sightings?"
"Uhh…" the girl said nervously, "No… but I-I think he might be in trouble…"
"Really?" Cloud asked, not all that surprised.
"Y-Yeah. He called me earlier, but I could barely hear anything he was saying… it was like the connection was fractured. I was able to get 'Villains', and 'under attack', but then the line went dead." she looked down in worry, "I dunno what happened to him, or where he is, but he sounded so worried."
"I wouldn't be too concerned about him, though," Cloud smirked, "I know the kid well enough… and he's a pretty lucky guy."
"Huh?"
"Still… we should still figure out where he and his classmates are. If there are villains attacking, the least we can do is get over there and help." Cloud frowned a bit, before looking back over his shoulder, calling out, "Tifa, over here!"
"You found him?" The brawler's voice came across the hall, before she ran up to the two of them, looking over to the girl he was talking to, "Wait… that's not-"
"I know. It isn't him," Cloud grunted, "But this kid's a friend of his. She thinks he might be in trouble."
"Really?" Tifa looked concerned, before looking over to her, "And you're sure about this?"
"Honestly… I don't know… and that's what worries me." she clenched her fists, before telling Tifa what she already told Cloud.
"...Alright. We should head over to see Principal Nezu. He'll know what to do." Tifa concluded as the student finished her story. She looked over to Cloud.
"Right now?" Cloud asked.
"Right now." was her answer.
(End of Flashback)
"...So we went over to the lounge to tell Nezu, only to find All Might getting ready to move out. Gotta say, kid, you're pretty damn lucky to have made friends like her here."
Sora sighed in relief. So Pony had pulled through and gotten his message. And who would have thought she would've run into the ex-SOLDIER Cloud himself? Thanks a lot, Pony. Sora thought gratefully, We all owe you and Tenya big time.
But that did beg the question. What was Cloud doing here in this world?
"I'll explain later," Cloud replied, seeing the question nearly escape from Sora's lips.
"We came as fast as we could," All Might said worriedly, "I hope we aren't too late."
"Quite the opposite. You came just in time." Sora grinned, "But we need to help the others. They're scattered around the USJ no thanks to that foggy villain. We need to find them fast before they get seriously hurt."
"Got it. We should get going then?"
"Yeah."
The two otherworldly warriors look at one another and nod their heads in agreement with the plan. They then look over to All Might.

He wasn't listening, however, and looked at Aizawa's bloody form. He cursed himself for not realizing what was wrong.
"I'm sorry, Aizawa-kun," he muttered in Japanese, "I should've been here sooner,"
He then turned around to where Shigaraki, Kurogiri, and Nomu were. In a burst of speed, he lifted Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta out of the water with his free hand and sped away from the danger, landing right back to where Sora and Cloud were.
Shigaraki found himself pushed back by the sheer speed of the Symbol of Peace. Almost like a punch to the gut as the hand covering his face fell off.
Minoru did a double take before realizing they had been moved. "What the heck?"
All Might was already giving orders, "Young Sora, Cloud. Get to those zones and find the other students as soon as you can. Bring them back safely and lead them to the entrance."
"Copy that," Cloud said, turning to Sora, "Sora, you're with me."
"Got it," Sora nodded, "We should get to the fire zone first. I saw some villains going over there, so I'm guessing one of my classmates is there too. We need to move quickly."
"Then it's a good thing I brought this along." Cloud glanced to his motorbike.
"Wait." Sora perked up, "You said something about a friend being with you."
"Oh, you mean Tifa?" Cloud said, "She's here. Dunno where, though."
"...You left her behind again?"
"...Yeah…"
They took the time to process that. Cloud's friend, Tifa, had been searching for the SOLDIER the last time Sora had seen her, and man, she made a very direct first impression on Sora after she wiped the floor with Leon physically and mentally back in Radiant Garden.
She might act polite and kind around Sora and the rest of the crew later on, but he would never forget the day they first met, when she was looking for Cloud during Sora's second journey.
"She's… not gonna be angry at you, is she?" he whispered to Cloud.
"I'd rather not think about it…" he muttered back, before looking up to All Might, "So… what about you, big guy?"
"These villains are mine to subdue," he responded sternly. The ex-SOLDIER looked at him a moment and shrugged.
"Fine by me. Good luck,"
"Same goes to you, Cloud. Bring my students back alive."
With a rumble of an engine, Cloud, with Sora on the back, drove over to the Conflagration Zone.
All Might watched them disappear, before looking over to the other students, switching to Japanese, "Everyone, go over to the entrance, and take Aizawa-kun with you. He doesn't have much time."
"Y-Yes sir!" Minoru nodded quickly, while Tsuyu got out an affirming ribbit. Midoriya was simply looking at his idol with worry.
Sure, he was grateful the Symbol of Peace was here along with that other person. Izuku and the others barely got a proper view of him, but Sora seemed to know who that person was, based on his reaction. However, he still felt very worried.
They noticed the villain with hands all over getting himself back up, shaking. At that moment, Izuku remembered something.
"All Might, you can't fight him!" he warned his teacher, "That brain villain took One fo-" he paused, looking over to a confused Tsuyu and Mineta, and he hastily corrected himself, "I-I Smashed him and didn't break my arm this time, but it didn't do anything at all! He's too strong!"
"Midoriya-shounen," All Might simply raised a hand back, before turning over to the teens with a smile, "It's alright! I've got this!"
Izuku hesitated for a bit, before looking up with determination. With a nod to Tsuyu, they supported Aizawa and carried him over to safety. While they did that, All Might then looked towards Shigaraki and Nomu dangerously.
"Now, then." he began, "Where were we?"
Shigaraki only stood there.
"Not one to talk, huh? Very well, then…" All Might smirked, before rushing in with hands crossed, "CAROLINA…"
"Nomu," Tomura responded, as the zombie like villain rushed towards the Symbol of Peace in kind with a guttural roar.
"SMAAAASSHH!"
With a gust of powerful wind, the climactic battle between two mighty warriors began.

How'd you like that? Chapter 13 is done and it seems things aren't looking good for Class A. They're separated, outnumbered, and with no way to communicate for backup. Well, except for Sora briefly due to the magical properties of AR Device Copy. But even magic has its limits.
But thanks to those precious seconds on the phone, we finally reveal new players on the board that have arrived as backup. You thought the surprises were over? Think again!
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for everyone's favorite socially awkward edgy ex-SOLDIER, Cloud!
...
Wait. How did he get here?!
Anyways, for those of you who guessed that it was them all the way back in Chapter 7, congrats, for you are correct! Cloud has entered the scene and is in U.S.J. assisting the others alongside All Might. How this will change things, you'll have to see. And based on his own words and the flashback, Tifa's here too! But where in the world is she right now, if Cloud left her behind?
Well, to put it shortly, he's in for it when all of this is over.
Onto Reviews!
PUBLISH: Thank you! Funny, that could be a good idea for a future blooper. Thanks Publish!
PokeKing Charizard: Good to see you're happy to see the Dream Eaters here!
Gamelover41592: Well, that is the purpose of the Heartbinder and summon. To call upon the friends from far away and bring them to your aid. This way, Sora isn't completely alone in this new world.
Wizardwolf 1020: Very perceptive, Wolf. And it would be interesting for Sora to bring that up to Izuku, though the question is when that will happen, since their first meeting has come and passed.
Guest365: I can see why you think that way. Sora didn't seem to care much about not passing, rather he was elated when Riku passed, and that was genuine happiness Sora was showing in Dream Drop Distance. But when Yen Sid brought that up again once Sora began his third great journey, and when Pete pretty much called Sora out on being weaker than before in Olympus, he looked pretty down about it on both occasions (though he almost immediately tries to cover it up both times). And I agree that titles like "Keyblade Master" Sora doesn't really care about, and passing it didn't really mean much to him, but the fact that he fell into Xehanort's trap so easily during the test and lost most of his powers in the process is bound to hit Sora like a truck confidence-wise, and I think that is the thing he feels the most shame for regarding the Mark of Mastery. I feel like KH3 has many blink-and-you-miss-it moments like that when it comes to Sora. But that's just my opinion. I totally understand yours, though, and appreciate your feedback and concern. And just to make sure we're both on the right track, Sora himself never stated he was a great leader at any point in KH3. In Chapter 12 specifically, he states that he doesn't see himself as leader material, which is why he passes on the role of class rep to Tenya. That belief will remain for the rest of the story.
Guest: Thanks for the feedback! And regarding the dark voice, you'll find out very soon. Stay safe!
blueassassin996: Sora does trump everyone in 1-A when it comes to battle experience and adaptability. I hope I can show that in the upcoming chapters.
The OC Maniac: Considering what just happened this chapter, I'd say you'd have already found out, OC. Though that wasn't exactly my intention, I'm happy you found the previous chapter funny. And regarding a "Figure"... hmm...
XxSoulMasterXx: I did state beforehand that the other Heartbinders Sora still has in his arsenal. Who knows. Maybe he has other summon charms from previous games as well. And regarding them being shocked, I guess that depends, considering there are Mutant Quirks in MHA, but an actual lion talking would make them surprised.
Gry26: Wait and see, Gry. Wait and see...
Kirisuma: I think you just about found out... and don't worry. Sora will answer those questions in due time.
What did you think of this chapter? I'm happy if you enjoyed it, and I'm sorry for not meeting expectations if you didn't.
Thanks for reading this chapter, and until our paths cross again!

At the base of the steps, Tsuyu and Minoru looked back as the mysterious swordsman and Sora drove off towards the other zones. They themselves were amazed at how the man simply made an entrance and took down the majority of the villains with All Might.
"I wonder who the guy is. He's so cool!" Minoru gushed, "And where the heck can I get a sick bike like that?!"
"Ribbit. We've still got Aizawa-sensei to bring up to the top, Mineta." Tsuyu croaked.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go!" Mineta said, shaking himself back to reality.
It was tedious work, getting up to the top considering how many flights of stairs were and the fact they were carrying an unconscious teacher in the process. But eventually, they were able to make it to the top.
From there, they found Ochaco, Mina, Rikido, Mezo, and Hanta there with a downed Thirteen, their costume ripped from the back.
"Tsu-chan!" Mina and Ochaco called, before gasping.
"We're here, kero," she croaked.
Hanta grimaced at his teacher's condition, "Aw man. He's hurt pretty bad."
"L-Leave... the rest to All Might..." Thirteen rasped to Mina, "Please... get somewhere safe before the Pros arrive..."
"G-Got it." Mina nodded.
"Did you guys see that cyclist?" Mineta asked.
"For a brief second." Rikido answered, "He came and went so fast we couldn't get a good look on him. It was a guy, right?"
"It was." Tsuyu confirmed as she, Ochaco, and Mezo hauled Aizawa to a safer spot next to Thirteen.
"What now, though?" Ochaco asked worried, "All Might-sensei can handle it, right?"
"Of course he will! He's the best Hero out there!" Minoru replied.
Suddenly, they heard somebody sprint into the facility, panting, and they all turned to see who it was, and Mineta was instantly entranced.
"Whew... I made it..." the person muttered, "Darn it, Cloud... Leaving me in the dust again, huh?"
She then noticed the students in front of her, and gasped as her gaze found Aizawa and Thirteen.
"Oh gosh..." she whispered, "Is it that bad?"
"Uhh... who are you?" Rikido asked her, causing the woman to turn back to him.
"Oh!" she perked up, before saying, "I'm sorry. I'm here to help. How hurt are these two?"
"Not too good." Mina told her, relaxing at the person's tone.
"Let me see them." the woman went over to cautiously examine the two, but not before looking to Ochaco and Mina for permission. They seemed to get the message and nodded. "Stay back."
The woman extended her hand out, and yellow aura pulsed from it and covered Aizawa. Though his wounds didn't disappear, his body seemed to relax a bit.
"Whoa..." Ochaco said amazed, "What did you do?"
"I'll tell you later." the woman said, moving to Thirteen and doing the same thing, before looking up to the facility at large. She then turned to the group behind her, "Is there anybody else you know that's still out there?"
"Way too many," Mezo said, "What are you going to do?"
She turned her gaze back to the facility, fists clenching in determination, "Whatever I can."
(Silence)
