Chapter 4: Fiery trial

Disclaimer: Don't own Pokémon

We can see the trio walking on a mountain road, leading to a more arid path. Blanche tells them that they should camp here, where the area is more comfortable than the canyon.

"A canyon just after a mountain?" asked Erpeojnel.

"Well, our world is abrupt like that, like in this instance. Or, another example, you can have a snowy forest directly after a green one," the furry mon replied. The angel wonders if abnormalities are common in this world. But mysteries dungeons are considered abnormal, so they have different normality maybe.

"I shall findeth some woods," Cynane said.

"I will prepare dinner then," the clean mon said. "Can you prepare the bed please, Lord Erpoejnel?"

"I will," he simply said. He goes into the mini forest only to come back a minute later with three logs on his shoulder. The grey mon sweatdrops at the scene.

"I'm still did impress by thy strength, mine own l'rd," she said honestly.

"And I wonder when you will call me simply by my name," he said, placing the logs on the floor.

"Oh, I'm just doing mine own duty, mine own l'rd," she said, smiling, a little smugly even.

"You…" he sweatdropped at that.

"And I don't want Cynane on me," she said sighing, shrugging her shoulder while she continues taking ingredients from her bag.

"I see, I agree she is too tense," he said, knowing her implication.

"Yeah, but this is nothing compared to when she began to be a knight. She was so tense and embarrassed in front of sister Arya," she began to giggle only to stop after receiving a chop on her hand from her female friend.

"Thee shouldst not speak of oth'r mon behind their backeth," the knight said sternly to her friend. She turns to the savior while the chinchilla is rubbing her head.

"And what do you mean too tense, my lord?" she said, placing a hand on her hips.

"You prevent your body to have fluidity in battle. It creates lags between actions. And outside of battle, you need to relax to let your body so you can be able to act when necessary," he said from his experience. She is taken by surprise.

"I wond'r how thee can beest so halcyon, mine own l'rd," she said softly

"Even if our trials are unknown, I prepare myself mentally, simulating different scenarios in my head. This makes you act quicker and prevent you to be on guard all the time. Now relax and rest your body," he explained, softly at the end. Her shoulders fall a little before she sits next to him. They have as dinner a bowl of berries and gummies. After dinner, they go directly to sleep. But before that, the grey mon wants to ask something.

"Did you go in a higher dimensional form before?" she asked. He takes sometimes finding his memories.

"Yes, and I didn't know about it at that time. It was one of my friends that came up with the theory. It made a purge to fight the demon lord because of it, he knew how to use them. I don't know if my friend develop his theory because I die in the fight. But like I said, it is promising," he looks back at the mountain. "I recognized it thank the theory I received from Arya," he looks back at her. "But now, I have an idea about them."

"I see, your friend must be really smart to come up with something so complex," she said in awe. He giggles at that.

"Yes, the best mage he is," she is confused at that. "Sorry, this is a story for another time. We should go to sleep," she agrees with him. They join their third companion to sleep.

Time skip: Morning

It is mid-morning, and our heroes are in front of their next dungeon. They decided to wake up early so they can use the maximum light to finish their travel.

It is a canyon with bright red stones and curving crevasses. Erpoejnel thinks of different plans, as he fears there will be fire mons, one of his weaknesses.

"Fiery Canyon, the place that will determine your determination before the guild. I wonder if it is the guild that places them," the chinchilla said, reading the sign.

"This is a possibility. Anon we knoweth yond t is our lasteth dungeon bef're the guild," said the knight, grimacing.

"Okay, but how will we do it? I certainly will have some fire mon," asked the furry mon.

"You will lead this time, Blanche," the savior said.

"EH?!" she exclaimed in shock. "Wait, I can't do that!"

"We putteth our faith in thee, Blanche," the armored mon said.

"Yes, I will follow while Cynane takes the rear. Remember, I'm the most disadvantaged in this situation," he said remembering his steel type.

"And mine own ice shall not doth so much damageth. And you're the guideth, it's a chance to doth t, " the blue mon. The grey mon looks back at her friends, not knowing what to say. She doesn't have a lot of mon saying they put their faith in her. She takes a big breath before putting on a determined face.

"Okay, I do it!" she said with conviction. "But before that…" she takes the blue stones with the stars from the bag before activating it. "There! We will not have to fear some higher dimension shenanigans now!" she said, happy about her thinking. Cynane smile proudly at her while Erpoejnel cross his arm, nodding with his eyes closed.

"Well… let's go," the grey mon said with some hesitations before entering the dungeons, the other two follow.

When they're in the first room, the first thing they feel is the dungeon shaking before the room glow. They close their eyes just in time not to be blinded. The pure being opens his eyes, noting the red walls and floors with some orange in them and the curving hallways. But he notices the presence of less dark wisps, feeling less distortion in the air.

"It seems our stone works," he said as the others open their eyes. The girls observe the area before noticing his same assessment.

"It really works!" the cleaner mon exclaimed, knowing they will not lose their way now.

"Yes, let's go," the knight said to Blanche. She nodded before taking the lead.

As they travel, they noticed that, while the hallways are curving, the rooms staid cubic. The hallways are big enough for the trio to cross them in line. They found again materials like the brilliant red stones or the red jelly on the ground. They passed next to items and met a Darumaka.

This is where Blanche shined, as she has the lesser disadvantage, she is the one doing the close combat. Well… even if she only managed to hit it thanks to the distraction the other two created with their light projectiles and icicle.

"Thee seeth, thee can doth t," the knight said. The chinchilla only rubs her head back, smiling embarrassedly.

'She really has no training. Is it because she doesn't want to hurt others or does she never imagine herself now?' thought the pure mon. 'I will need to help her to train. She will endanger herself if not.'

After this thought, they continue, passing another darumaka which the grey mon managed to do better, even if a little better. But she found the stairs, making them travel to the next floor.

As they continue going up, they noticed at the beginning of each floor that the dungeon glowed for a moment.

"It seems our stone doesn't act on the dungeon but on the floor," the angel said.

"Maybe because the dungeon isn't just a space but contains multiple different spaces?" the cleaner hypothesized.

"Is that a problem, my lord?" the armored mon asked.

"It will be one if it loses its energy in the middle of the dungeon," the otherworlder stated.

"Does that mean…" the furry mon began but didn't know how to finish.

"We have a guaranty until our stone loses all energy," the knight finished. The grey mon begins to panic.

"Yes, let's pray that it has enough to finish the dungeon," the pure being said, the girls agree.

As they travel inside the dungeon, they never see higher dimension shenanigans, meaning the stone does its job. But they know where the dungeon got its name, not just from the fire but from the numerous broken mon inhabiting it. It is a fiery journey indeed. They met darumaka, torchic, region variant Nosepass, yanma, and sometimes a skarmory. However, they found many items, and above all red gummies.

"Blanche, I will carry for now," the angel suddenly. The chinchilla gasps.

"No, I can't let you do it! This is below you!" she exclaimed.

"I concur with Blanche, mine own l'rd. This is below thee," the knight said. The angel frowns at that. "Blanche, I shall carryeth this container, thee needeth all mobility f'r fighting," the chinchilla wonders why. She can move alright.

"Your bag will become heavier and heavier the more items we find. That's why I propose myself to carry as I am the most disadvantaged here," he explains.

"But…" the grey mon tried to find a counter. The knight takes softly the bag.

"Don't w'rry, we just bethink even but now thee needeth to moveth bett'r. I shall giveth t backeth at which hour we shall exit this dungeon," the blue mon said softly. The grey still tries to have a comeback but sighs in the end.

"I understand," she said smiling sadly. The knight put her hand on her friend's shoulder for a moment before she puts the bag on her shoulder.

"Are you sure, Cynane?" Erpoejnel asked.

"Aye, because I'm sure thee strength shall beest did need at the endeth," she said smiling. He just nods, knowing what she refers to.

A boss.

A pokemon that is stronger than others and can be found only at the end. He is not worried because he has already fought some in his old world. But the question is: How much stronger compare to others? While he tries to find an answer, the group finds the stairs, continuing their ascend.

Canyon End

They enter a new room with an exit on the other side, the colors of the room are more reddish.

"Do you think this is it?" asked the furry mon

"I don't bethink so Blanche, this cubiculo might not but has't a purpose oth'r than a passing cubiculo," reasoned the knight.

"Yes, there is tension in the air," said the angel, taking a defending stance. "Prepare yourself, a fight will come." Taking his advice, the girls take fighting stances, well mainly the squost. They look around, not finding anything but Erpoejnel has a suspicion and then looks up. His eyes widen.

"SCATTER!" he ordered quickly, doing it too. His companion reacts fast enough to not be crushed by the falling object. Say object creates a crater and a dust cloud in his wake. After the cloud lift, it reveals to be a pokémon.

It is a mostly brown, rock-like Pokémon. It has small round eyes, a red crystal nose that is large in proportion to its body, and a bushy black mustache that consists of obsidian, which appears to be fused to its nose. It has three small objects on its sides and back, which appeared to be mini noses. It has a big black hat-like stone on top of its head and exudes strong heat from all over its body. What worries the angel is his height, this mon is huge, probably ten feet tall. And the reddish aura leaving its eyes.

"A Probopass!" exclaimed Blanche, worried. "Not just that, an alpha too!"

"T seemeth thee w're right, mine own l'rd," the armored mon said, lowering her stance, draconic power forming claw.

"…" the white being analyzed their situation. It isn't good, being a rock/fire type pokémon means it has an advantage over Cynane and him, and Blanche's attack will be weak. Only Cynane's draconic power and his light and metal power will do damage. We just need to coordinate-

Porbopass put his eyes on him, making his eyes widen. It let out a fire beam, but the white being used his flying power to dodge. Meanwhile, the armored pokémon rushes her foe, dodging at the same time a Stone edge attack. Her Dragon claw hits, sending it away but not enough to make it flinch. It recovers fast as it fires a fire beam at a sent Blast seed, destroying it in mid-air. The chinchilla is shocked, too shocked to dodge the next attack but she is saved by her scaly friend as she was the nearer.

The stone mon is about to continue with Stone edge but is stopped by a Flash Canon. As the angel flies toward it, it raises an Iron Wall to protect it from a powerful punch. However, it is surprised by the wings as they whip it. He finishes by sending a light beam, but it is countered by a fire beam, creating a dust cloud. A Stone Edge is sent, making the pure being dodge at his best. He is saved by a Protect attack from Blanche, but when their foe rushes with Giga attack, he takes her in the air. The attack's end result is a big crater in the wall.

"Is it that powerful?!" exclaimed Blanche loudly. They land on the floor.

"It seems so," but now he sees closely, it seems their foe can't move.

"Giga attack's backslash took effect," said the grey mon. The angel looks at her confused. "Giga attack is the most powerful normal attack, but after using it, you can't move for a moment." So this is the reason.

While they were talking, Cynane rushed again, hitting again and again with a Dragon Claw.

'I can use this move, but I still didn't master it,' she thought. Her attack becomes less and less strong. 'It is now or never.' She let the draconic energy dissipate and forms a glowing karate shop. The attack hits true, but the energy dissipates quickly after the hit.

'Dang it!' she swear in her mind, as she didn't manage to use a full attack. But her move has done heavy damage. Unfortunately, the Probopass recover enough to send a fire beam. At this distance, she can't dodge, taking the full brunt of the attack. She is blown away, by her friend.

"Cynane?!" screamed the grey mon. The white being placed himself in front of his friend, his rainbow wings glow with power, sending a barrage of light lasers, destroying the Stone edge move and hitting his foe. He prays he buys enough time. As he looks behind, he sees the armored mon eating an Oran berry from her friend.

"Are you alright?" the white being said. The scaly mon stands up, panting heavily.

"I'm good now, mine own l'rd," she replied back. Looking back at their foe, he sees it analyzing them, and trying to recover.

'I see, another Brick break and it will be finished,' he thought, thinking of a plan. He turns toward Blanche.

"Blanche, do you have a move that lowers defense?" he asked his shy companion.

"Yes, I have my Tail Whip. Why?" she asked him. He looks back at their opponent. It still is recovering. They must be quick.

"I have a plan, I will the distraction," he said. Cynane was ready to interrupt but he won't let her. "When it is on me, Blanche will use Tail Whip again and again. When his defense is low enough and there is an opening, Cynane will use Brick Break again," he looks at the armored mon. "Recover while you can, you're our main point in this plan," he said. They look at each other, seconds feeling like hours but the blue mon nods. He readies his stance again.

"Blanche, let's go!" he said before rushing, and she follows behind. While running, the winged being fires many beams at his foe, all dodging it, managing to move out of the way. However, it was surprised by Erpoejnel's acceleration, taking a punch at its lower side. He engages in hand-in-hand combat, each hit doing damage but hurting himself.

'His body is hard, I really need to train my strength to prevent this moment,' he thought. His opponent tries to hit him with its mini noses or fire beam, but they are dodged gracefully by our hero. At the same time, a green aura with down arrows appears on its body. The next savior's hit does more damage.

'It works,' he thought, hitting with more vigor. It continues like that, the angel attacking while the furry mon lowering its defense. Enough of this, the rock pokémon send a red aura dome, blowing away its enemies, but forget that the white being can fly. In this instance, flying in the middle of the room, in the air, he decides to use his strongest attack available: Flash Canon. The attack hits, doing quite some damage, and, what he was waiting, flinching his opponent enough.

"NOW!" he screamed. At this moment, the dragon runs, with a prepared Brick Break, at her maximum speed. The nose pokémon sees her, firing a fire beam, but focused on her objective, she managed to dodge. It tries to stand up but was too late, as the fighting move hit in full force on its lower side, cracking its body a little. Like before, the energy disappears quickly after hitting. However, the pain is too much for it. It falls unconscious.

A tense silence falls in the room until they see their opponent not standing up.

"We did it…" a stunned grey mon said before being more delighted. "WE DID IT!" she hugs her friend. The angel nods to himself before flying toward his companion.

"Good job you two," he said. Blanche scratches behind her head, while Cynane nods with a smile.

"Thy planeth w'rked, mine own l'rd," she said. He closes his eyes.

"Yes, I'm happy that it worked," he said. Opening his eyes, he takes a more relaxed pose. "Now, we should exit this dungeon before other surprises fall on us,"

"Yes we should," the furry mon said, happy to finally get out of the dungeon. The armored mon simply nods.

Outside, they arrived above ground with green plains, with flowers, in front of them. Well, there still are dark wisps floating but it is still a beautiful view.

"Now, if we continue walking, we will arrive at Illumine tonight," said the cleaner mon.

"Aye, those gents shouldst beest nay m're obstacle f'r anon," said the armored mon.

"Then let's go, there is a guild waiting for us," said the angel.

They take the road again, all thinking. Blanches wonders what the city looks like while Cynane wonders about the guild. Erpoejnel wonders if they will meet the manager of the city, to inform them about his purpose. Well, they will all have their curiosity satisfied. But they don't know the shocks and the hopes they will bring.
