Prompt: Shopping Date
Hikari got dressed quickly. Today was the day of their date, and hopefully the day that Hikari would build up the courage to confess to Takeru. It seemed like an intimidating idea, but Tailmon had encouraged her these past few days. Tailmon was going with her to the date for reasons Hikari couldn't fathom, but she was glad that she would have her partner with her.
Reaching the shopping mall where the two would have their date, Hikari noticed that Takeru had brought Patamon along as well. She smiled slightly. Good, Tailmon wouldn't be completely bored after all.
"Hikari-chan!" Takeru called out, waving her over, and Hikari grinned and ran towards him. She enveloped him in a hug, which he reciprocated. "Missed me?"
"A bit," Hikari admitted. "I'm just really happy about this date."
Takeru smiled. "Me too."
Patamon and Tailmon were whispering excitedly to each other, making Hikari shoot them a confused glance, but they ignored her. Hikari wondered what they could be talking about, then her face flamed up as she realized Tailmon could be telling Patamon about her planned love confession. I hope not… that would be embarrassing.
"Where should we go first?" Takeru asked.
Hikari thought about it. "Maybe we should go get lunch first? I know that this mall has some good restaurants in it."
"Lunch it is," Takeru agreed. The two began heading towards the restaurants, and after a few moments, Patamon and Tailmon seemed to realize they were leaving and hurried after them.
Hikari hoped the confession would go well.
Takeru was nervous about the confession. Patamon had talked with him the previous night and convinced him once again to do it, as he had felt just about ready to pull out, but it was still scary. Seeing Hikari's smile, getting to stay with her while she smiled… those seemed unrealistic already. He didn't want to ruin their friendship if he confessed and she didn't return those feelings. But he promised Patamon he would try, and it was too late to give up.
They chose a ramen restaurant, one that made Takeru wonder how Daisuke was doing with his own goal to create a ramen restaurant. Tasting the ramen, Takeru decided Daisuke may do better. He had tasted Daisuke's ramen before and it was great, this one was a bit lacking on the soup. People make mistakes, though. Maybe this place really is better than Daisuke-kun's future place.
Takeru threw those thoughts away. He was procrastinating and he knew it.
The four of them finished up their ramen quickly before leaving the restaurant. "Where do you want to go next?" Takeru asked Hikari.
She thought about it for a moment. "Well, is there anywhere you want to go?"
Takeru blinked in surprise. "I asked about you, not me."
"I know," Hikari said. "I just don't want to make all the decisions."
Takeru smiled a bit. "Ah. Well, there's this bookstore I want to check out…"
Hikari grinned. "Then let's go there!" She took Takeru's hand and they went to the bookstore, hands linked just like that. Patamon and Tailmon followed them, so suspiciously quiet that Takeru had almost forgotten about their presence.
They sat in the bookstore for a while, and that was when the two Digimon seemed to get bored. "Patamon and I are going to do our own shopping!" Tailmon announced.
Hikari blinked in surprise. "Oh, alright. Do you want some money?"
Tailmon shook her head. "No thanks." She walked away, Patamon gliding behind her.
"How do they plan to shop… without money?" Hikari asked slowly, and Takeru chuckled.
"They're probably just going to browse and come find us if there's anything they actually want," he suggested.
Hikari nodded. "Yup, that makes sense! Anywhere else you want to go?"
Takeru shook his head. "You first."
Hikari grinned. "Great! Well, there's this clothing store I like…"
Hikari was procrastinating, and she knew it.
The two of them went from store to store, and Hikari still couldn't force the words out of her mouth. But to her surprise, Takeru paused in the halls of the mall and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Takeru-kun?" she questioned. "What is it?"
Takeru coughed awkwardly. "I, uh… want to tell you something."
Hikari watched him curiously. "Okay…?"
Takeru glanced away, then muttered, "Why is this so hard?"
Hikari felt a spark of hope glimmer in her chest. Could it be…? "I have something I want to tell you as well."
Takeru's head whipped towards her. "What?"
She blushed. "Should we do this at the same time maybe?"
Takeru blushed as well, seeming to come to the same realization she had. "S-sure."
"Three…" Hikari murmured. "Two… One…"
"I love you."
The two spoke at the same time, and their faces flushed more than Hikari thought possible. Still, she got closer to Takeru, and he got closer to her, and their lips brushed together in a kiss.
He loves me, just like I love him.
"Oh, finally!"
The two of them whipped to the side to see Patamon and Tailmon watching them. "You guys took too long," Tailmon said, yawning.
Hikari laughed. "Sorry, Tailmon."
"Did you get it on tape?" Patamon asked Tailmon.
She whipped towards him, eyes wide. "You were supposed to be the one recording!"
"Huh?!"
Takeru and Hikari burst into laughter, then exchanged a look. They loved each other.
