Final chapter! Hope you guys enjoyed this work~!

It had been a year since that day at the mall, where they first confessed and kissed each other. Since then, their love for each other had only grown.

The two sat in Daisuke's new ramen restaurant with the rest of their friend group, listening to Miyako's latest breakup. Hikari frowned. Shame, she actually had hope with this one. She reached towards Takeru and took his hand, and he squeezed it slightly. Hikari smiled a bit.

"How did you guys manage to stay together so long?" Miyako's voice broke through the silence as she directed the question at Takeru and Hikari. The two blushed and looked at each other.

"I guess we just really love each other," Hikari offered.

Miyako heaved a great sigh. "Oh, how I wish I had someone who loved me like that."

"You'll find someone," Takeru said comfortingly.

"I hope so!"

Hikari saw Daisuke and Ken shooting each other a glance. Hikari hid her smile at that. She was pretty sure the two were secretly dating, just unsure how to tell the others about it. Hikari wasn't going to pressure them into doing so, but she did hope it was soon…

Daisuke coughed. "Actually…"

…or maybe now.

Daisuke reached over to Ken and took his hand. "Ken and I have been dating for a few months now."

"I knew it," Iori said, still eating his ramen. When Miyako looked at him in surprise, Iori responded, "What? It was obvious."

"No offense, but you were probably the only one who didn't know," Takeru told Miyako.

"I knew Daisuke-kun liked him, I just never thought he'd have the guts to ask him out!" Miyako defended herself.

"Hey!" Daisuke cried out, outraged.

Hikari laughed a little. Soon the dinner was finished and the group separated. Hikari and Takeru began to head towards his apartment. That was where they were planning to stay for the night, after all.

"...what do you think our future will be like?" Takeru wondered all of a sudden.

Hikari looked at him, surprised. "Well, I'm not sure…"

Takeru fidgeted a bit. "Will we still be together?"

Hikari smiled. "Of course."

Takeru managed a smile back. "I hope so."

"Are you worried because of Miyako-san's most recent breakup?"

Takeru looked away. "...maybe."

Hikari sighed softly. "Takeru…"

"I know I shouldn't be," Takeru admitted. "But still… I worry, I guess."

"Makes sense," Hikari whispered. "Isn't it a bit too early to be talking about our future, though?"

"I guess so," Takeru murmured.

"But you know…" Hikari said slowly, an idea coming to mind. "Maybe we could move into the same apartment. It's a new step in our relationship, but not too big yet, right?"

Takeru smiled. "That works." As the two reached his apartment, he asked, "Whose apartment are we sharing?"

Hikari hummed lightly. "How about yours? You have a lot more things, after all."

Takeru laughed a bit awkwardly. "I guess I do," he admitted. "But if you'd prefer to keep yours…"

Hikari waved off his concerns. "No, no, it's fine. Yours works."

"Good," Takeru grinned.

"What are you talking about?" Patamon's voice broke into their conversation. He and Tailmon walked into the front entrance to greet them.

"Tailmon, are you fine if we move into this apartment?" Hikari asked her partner.

Tailmon thought about it for a moment. "I guess it'll be fine," she said at last.

Hikari nodded. "I guess I'll start packing in a few days?"

"I'll help," Takeru said immediately.

"Thank you," Hikari said, smiling gently. She couldn't wait.

A few days later, Hikari set down one of her boxes in front of Takeru's apartment door, panting as Takeru rushed over with the keys. The door unlocked, Hikari forced herself to pick up the box again and bring it inside, where she once again set it down in favor of panting.

"If you want, I can bring the rest inside," Takeru offered, seeing her condition.

Hikari shook her head. "No, no, I can still help. I think this is one of the heaviest boxes, after all."

Takeru still looked a bit concerned, but he shrugged and said, "If you say so."

The two headed out again to bring in more boxes. Patamon and Tailmon sat nearby and talked. Hikari wondered briefly if she and Takeru should evolve them so they could also help with the boxes, but she shook the thought out of her mind. They were happy the way they were. No need to ruin that.

It took a while, but soon, the boxes were all inside the house. Hikari let out a breath of relief and flopped down onto a chair. "Finally," she breathed out.

"We still have to unpack," Takeru pointed out, amused.

Hikari shook her head. "I say we procrastinate on that," she murmured.

Takeru let out a laugh. "Wise choice. I don't really want to do that either."

Hikari smiled at him. "Let's lie down on your bed?"

Takeru smiled back. "Alright."

Lying down on his bed, a sleeping Hikari at his side, Takeru gazed up at the ceiling and thought about how far he had come.

He smiled as he looked at the woman next to him. He truly loved her, and hoped they would get to spend the rest of their lives together.
