She reads books to escape, and to give her ideas for her powers. When a man from Brockton Bay adopts her, bringing her into that cesspit, how will she survive? Will she drown, or will she be able to burn a beacon of heroism?

On her sixteenth birthday, Taylor doesn't trigger. Instead, she is offered a simple transaction: she'll get the power to achieve her ambitions - to rival any parahuman - if she takes on a curse. Now her dreams take her to a dreary pre-industrial world where vampires, werewolves, and the living dead stalk the land. The question is: is it any worse than Brockton Bay?

Taylor died in the locker and was buried. It's a real shame she didn't stay in her grave. A shame for the city that is. Lisa on the other hand is certainly happy to have stumbled across a vampire bodyguard. A bodyguard who needs a friend and protector just as badly as Lisa herself does.
