Chapter .3
Artemis was pacing outside the tent Hestia and Percy were in. She couldn't just stand there waiting for something to happen.
What if Hestia took him away from them?
Suddenly a hand went on her shoulder and she jumped to find Apollo looking at her seriously.
"Calm down Arty your Hunters need you. Percy needs you", Apollo tells her, "No matter what happens after this. There still is a war to fight. And even if he doesn't know it yet, Percy is right in the middle of it"
Artemis hated to admit it but her idiot brother was right. Losing her composure wasn't going to help anyone. Thinking on the what ifs wasn't going to help any of them. And it wouldn't help Perseus. But she knew he needed to know about the prophecy.
"Should we tell him about the prophecy?" Reyna asks.
Thalia snorts and shakes her head, "Not the right moment. After all the last two Great Prophecies have been about him. I don't think in his state of mind at the moment that he would handle this well"
"I agree. His mental health needs to be our priority", Apollo agrees, "Followed by his physical health"
"When do you think Lady Hestia became his Mum?" Reyna asks them, "Did she give any hints that she had a son? Even an adopted one?"
Artemis and Apollo shake their heads.
"No, she didn't give anything away", Artemis replies.
"Damn our Aunt is sneakier then Hermes", Apollo grumbles.
"I wonder why she didn't ease our worry about him. After all some of us have been going out of our minds with worry. Especially Poseidon", Thalia comments.
"I wonder also why Percy never got in contact with us. Even if it was never face to face. Why didn't he at least just send us a letter?" Reyna asks, "Or give Hestia a letter to pass on to us?"
"Those questions can only be answered by Hestia or even Percy themselves", Apollo replies.
They were broken out of their conversation by Hestia coming out of the tent.
"You can all go in, in a minute. He is getting dressed", Hestia tells them calmly.
"He shouldn't be getting up!" Apollo exclaims and moves to go in but Hestia blocks him with her arm.
"Don't nephew. Give him a few minutes to collect himself. Then you can see him. Well only Artemis, Apollo, Thalia and Reyna. You shouldn't overwhelm him just yet", Hestia advises them.
They really wanted to argue but the look in Hestia's eyes told them it would be a lost battle.
"How did he become your son?" Artemis asks one of the nagging questions that was on her mind.
"I believe Perseus and I should tell this story together. Now can I assume you won't be telling anyone BUT the Hunters about Percy being here?" Hestia asks them.
"That is correct. We believe that is the best course of action. But if you disagree…", Artemis starts.
Hestia quickly cuts her off, "No I agree completely. I was merely saying it so I can make sure the other Gods won't be flashing down here and bombarding my son"
"We have agreed to keep the knowledge of Nomad Blofson's reveal identity a secret and the fact he is staying with the Hunt. No need for others to sneak into camp and see who he is", Artemis replies.
Hestia chuckles, "I doubt that anyone can sneak up on Perseus. Unless on a really, really bad day"
"Why do you say that?" Thalia asks.
Hestia just smiles secretively, "Come. Perseus is ready"
She moves to let them into the tent but turns around.
"Oh, and if Perseus doesn't want to answer a question, please respect his wishes. He will tell you in his own time", Hestia advises them.
'Not very likely Mum', Hestia hears in her head.
Hestia shakes her head internally. Only she knew that Percy could hear them. As it probably didn't occur to them that Percy's robotic ear was very good. Or that it was on. Or that he might be listening.
She leads the Twin Archers, Thalia and Reyna inside and they see Percy had put on fresh clothes that once again covered him all over. Even his hood and mouth covering were on. He was leaning against that bed tensely.
A few of his weapons seemed to be back in place on his body like nothing had happened.
"Perseus…", Artemis states, "It is good to see you alive"
"Percy it is a relief to see you", Reyna says with a smile.
"Where the HADES'S have you been?" Thalia growls.
Artemis, Apollo and Reyna send her warning looks to watch her temper.
Apollo goes over to Percy, "You shouldn't be up yet. You just have undergone major trauma and your body needs more rest"
"Can I speak yet?" his raspy voice comes out from behind the cloth covering his mouth.
Each look at each other sheepishly. Hestia has to hide a smile.
"Sorry", they say sheepishly.
"Is anyone hurt?" Percy asks them.
"What?" Artemis asks confused.
Percy sighs in frustration, "Was anyone seriously hurt in the attack?"
"Well, you were…", Thalia starts.
"Not me. I am not worried about that. I meant were any of the Hunters hurt? And are they ok?" Percy asks them.
The four share a look. They could tell Percy really had no concern for his own welfare. That was something they were going to have to watch.
"Everyone is fine Percy. You certainly saved all my Hunters lives", Artemis assures him.
They see some of the tension leave his body.
"That's good", he sighs.
"Shall we make some seats?" Hestia asks everyone.
"As I see a long conversation going to happen here no matter how much I don't want it to be", Percy adds with a frustrated sigh.
He waves his hand and five chairs appear. One for everyone but himself. Artemis, Apollo, Thalia and Reyna's eyes widen at the display of what HAD to be magic.
"What about you Kelp Head?" Thalia asks getting over her shock.
"I am fine leaning on the bed", Percy replies.
"Percy you shouldn't be overtaxing yourself. You NEED to rest", Apollo tells him firmly.
Hestia knew why her son didn't want to sit. He always needed a way out if a situation came alone. Something he wasn't comfortable with or if an unexpected attack. Even when he camped, he was sure to have serval planned escapes.
Hestia knew it was because of his kidnapping and torture. No matter how much time past she knew her son would always be haunted by the kidnapping and torture in some way.
"We will sit and as long as you take some more ambrosia, nectar and have a hot meal you can stay standing you. For now", Hestia negotiates.
Everyone looked between the two. Not knowing what was going on as Percy seemed to be in a starting contest with Hestia. It looked like a battle of wills.
"Ambrosia and Nectar and I can stay standing up", Percy negotiates.
"Very well", Hestia gives, "Apollo can Percy have some ambrosia and nectar?"
"Of course! And I need to scan him to see all of his injuries have healed", Apollo replies.
"No Lord Apollo. My injuries are fine and I am sure you can agree I have had worse than this. And Mum can tell you I am getting better by the second. So, I will not have a scan or a physical scan", Percy replies firmly.
"Let it go Nephew", Hestia says softly to Apollo.
Apollo frowns at the pair then sighs he would have to put his faith in Hestia to make sure Percy was actually ok. But maybe Hestia could at least convince Percy to allow him to check the fresh wounds.
He summons some ambrosia and nectar and hands it to Percy.
They notice Percy hesitates at taking the two slices of ambrosia and the glass of nectar.
"Perseus", Hestia warns him in her 'Mums' voice.
Percy sighs, waves his hands and the ambrosia and nectar glow but nothing obvious happens and then he takes the ambrosia and moves the cloth away from his mouth and quickly pops them in. Eating both within seconds and then takes the glass of nectar and downs it in one gulp.
He glows and he shivers and then he puts the glass on the table.
"Happy know?" he asks them.
"Not really", Apollo mutters.
Hestia gives him a look.
"Yes, we are", Hestia smooths, "Shall we?" she asks them motioning to the chairs.
They hesitate but after another look from Hestia, Artemis drags Apollo and Thalia to a chair on either side of her. Reyna takes on next to Thalia and Hestia takes the closet one to Percy.
Percy leans on the bed trying to look casual. But he wasn't fooling them very well. Percy REALLY didn't want to be here. He would have prepared to disappear with Mist, Vapour or Shadow Travel. But his Mum could find him anywhere and would likely have flashed the others to wherever he ended up trying to hide.
Plus, his Mum did have a point. This threat the Gods were facing was big and they could need his help to win and with the way monster attacks have been lately they needed his help sooner rather than later.
"So, want would you like to know?" Percy asks tensely.
They could tell he was tense and lick their lips. They needed to think of their questions carefully.
"The name you go by how did you come up with it?" Reyna asks first.
Hopefully that wasn't a question Percy would dismiss or get tense over.
Percy looks at Reyna, "I travel like a nomad. So, nomad seemed appropriate and as for the last name. I am surprised people haven't put it together"
"Put what together?" Thalia asks.
Percy sighs, "Blof was the start of my Stepfathers last name and 'son' is the end of my mothers last name. Hence Blofson"
That really made them feel stupid. It seemed so obvious now.
"How did you hide your tracks and scent so nobody could find you?" Artemis asks him.
"Hestia helped me with my scent. Getting one of Medea's potions. And then it was more to do with powers and practice", Percy replies.
"Perce where do you stay when you're not saving us Hunters?" Thalia asks hesitantly.
"I have a tent. I camp", Percy replies shortly.
"You don't go to hotels?" Artemis asks curiously.
"No. I don't go into cities unless I am rescuing a demigod or legacy. Otherwise, I pitch my tent in a forest", Percy replies.
He didn't want to tell them he was slightly paranoid about sleeping in the city. Can you blame him after everything that happened?
"He used to sleep in trees. When I found out I put my foot down and got him a magical tent so he could be safe and dry while he rests", Hestia tells them.
Percy rolls his flesh eye at Hestia's comment. That wasn't unusual of her commenting on that. As sometimes he still did sleep high up in trees and have his tent as bait.
"Percy I would like to thank you for saving my Hunters a number of times and thank you for helping the girls you have bought here. I am truly in your debt", Artemis replies bowing her head at him her eyes shinning in sincerity.
Percy was a bit surprised by that. But they couldn't tell he was.
"I don't need to be thanked Lady Artemis. It is my job and my honour to protect the Hunters and Demigods and Legacies", Percy replies evenly.
"Please Percy enough with the titles. Artemis will do just fine", Artemis replies.
"And Apollo to me", Apollo adds.
"Very well", Percy replies with a nod.
"Can I ask about your bow? Because it is sweeeet! And Artemis was about to…", Apollo starts but Artemis slaps her hand over his mouth.
"If you finish that sentence, I will shove an arrow where the sun doesn't shine", Artemis warns him.
"I shine everywhere", Apollo boasts and squeaks as a hunting knife was slammed near his precious jewels.
"Your disgusting", Thalia states.
"He is a pig more like", Artemis growls, "Don't start or my knife won't miss next time. Do you understand?"
Apollo nods frantically as he flinches as Artemis pulls her knife out.
"You want to know about my bow?" Percy asks getting them back on track.
"What is it made of? Who made the bow? Who makes the arrows? What is the 'pocket' space I sensed in the quiver? What are all the arrows you use?...", Artemis rapidly asks.
They thought they heard Percy chuckle. But they couldn't be sure as his mouth was covered and they couldn't see his face.
"Slow down Artemis and I'll tell you", Percy says calmly pushing out some calm to her, "Now my bow. Is multi-metal made to be able to stand my arm", he lifts up his robotic arm, "As a normal bow would snap and crumble under the strength"
They nod that they could understand.
"The bow is made out of Imperial Gold, Adamantine and Cosmic Diamond. The last being the rarest and can withstand huge amount of pressure. It is also one of the heaviest metals. So only someone with extra strength could lift it or has an arm like I do", Percy explains his fingers ghosting along his bow of the carved symbols in the metal, "I carved the design and one of my Patrons and a dear friend had the bow forged in a spiecal forge"
Apollo, Artemis and Thalia's jaws drop. Percy carved those designs into the metal? And how did he get Cosmic Diamond?
"How did you get Cosmic Diamond?" Reyna asks him.
"Next question", Percy replies using his right to skip questions.
"The quiver?" Artemis asks quickly.
"I made the quiver and your right it is a pocket space or pocket dimension. Where all my spare arrows are stored. With a command from my mind the arrows can switch in the quiver. They can switch between each other in seconds", Percy reveals to them, "They are of my own design when I was practicing with magic"
"A side question here Perce. How do you have magic?" Thalia asks quickly.
Percy pauses for a minute debating with himself before he sighs.
"Lady Hecate is one of my Patrons. So, with her blessing among other things, I have magic", Percy reveals.
They decide not to pry on that and get back to the arrows. For now.
"What types of arrows do you have? As we have seen some of your arrows in action, we could guess what they are. But my bet is you haven't used every arrow around us", Artemis states, "You don't have to tell if you don't want to", she says quickly seeing him tense.
"I guess I can tell you I have normal arrows made out of Iron, Silver, Stygian Iron, Celestial Bronze, Imperial Gold, and Adamantine. Most of those you have seen me use. I have normal Fire and Greek Fire and Explosive Arrows. Acid Arrows are another one. I have Tranquilizer Arrows. You can guess what they do, but I have to have different ones for Mortals, Demigods, Gods, Titans, Primordials and Monsters. They have my own formula for those arrows to work on those 6 different groups. Flare Arrows are for emergency use to get the closet persons attention like a Flare Gun can. The Beacon Arrows are similar but put out a signal for people who have the code to the arrows to follow. At the moment Mum and my Patrons have the code to the beacon arrows and once planted the arrows will send out the emergency signal and then when I hear help approaching, I let off the Flare Arrows to give my exact location. The Spark Arrows are similar but let off different colours for different emergencies or situations", Percy tells them.
They were all giving him their full attention.
"Freezing Arrows can freeze someone in their tracks if hit by magic and actual Ice Arrows that freeze someone in a block of ice. I also have Hunting, Pulsing, Flash, Sonic and Sonar Arrows. Drill Head Arrows are a must sometimes to. I have also made Smoke and Black Out Arrows for a quick getaway and my Gas Arrows could work the same way. I have another 14 different types of arrows that you don't need to know about at the moment. Many of these arrows of my own design/invention. The quiver with the dimensional space to store other arrows is also my invention. The arrows are all charmed to return to me if lost or used", Percy explains.
Their eyes widen at that. When did Percy get so good with weapons, especially a bow, quiver and arrows?
When did he come so good at inventing? He had made 33 different types of arrows beside the normal ones made of the different metals.
Hestia was smiling secretively knowing just how much her son had just impressed the Twin Archers.
There was a few minutes of shocked silence at Percy's skills. Percy was starting to get agitated by the silence.
"How…?" Thalia asks speechless.
"Damn Cuz your badass! Those are some fricking awesome arrows!" Apollo exclaims.
"I hate to say this. But I agree with my brother. Those arrows sound amazing", Artemis admits blushing a bit when she feels Percy's surprise gaze.
"Where can I get some?" Apollo asks eagerly.
"What my brother means is…would you mind sharing some of them to help us in this war? The Hunters, my brother and I would be much appreciated. But they are of your own creation you don't have to give them to us and we have no right to force you too", Artemis asks carefully.
Percy eyes the Moon Goddess. His robotic eye swirling around analysing her question and the sincerity.
His gifts were telling him she was sincere. What she said wasn't a threat to take his creations. She just wanted to protect the people she was closest too.
"Some of them you could say are 'trick' arrows. But can be used when you are under attack if used correctly, they can stall attackers. Those I can in good conscious give out. The rest I will think on it Artemis", Percy says with a nod.
Artemis gives him a sincere smile, "I understand"
"So, what else would you like to know?" Percy asks them.
"How did you become so good at archery?" Thalia exclaims, "Last I saw you ended up hitting Chiron's stick instead of the target!"
A few laughs were had until they noticed Percy starting to pace slowly.
His mind working fast. Trying to decide if this question and the ones that could branch out from it were worth answering.
Could he trust them?
Could he trust them with how powerful he was?
Could he trust them with the knowledge of how many Patrons he had?
Could he trust them with how broken he was?
But most of all the question running through his mind was…could he let them in?
