A/N: Same old same old- Hatori in black, Mayu not, Shigure in his own box.
I do not own Fruits Basket or the characters therein.
House Room: Redux
During the next few days, I packed up what was left in my rooms at the compound. I hadn't been back in a while, and I found that the sheets on my old bed were strangely rumpled, which was uncharacteristic of me. But put it aside, figuring that I had left the bed unmade in my haste to leave the compound. I came across the box with the mementos of my relationship with Kana. I finally knew what to do with them. Calling Mayu, I made my way to my new apartment. She arrived with the drawing Gure did of her. Holding her hand, I said a brief prayer of thanksgiving for the time I shared with Kana, and I put my box into the fireplace. Mayu gave her thanks for her time with Shigure and placed the drawing there as well. We held each other while we watched as they went up in smoke, wending their way out of the house, giving us room to grow. I then ceremonially gifted Mayu a drawer. Kissing her, I said,
"I'm finally giving you house room Mayu."
As I ceremonially put a pair of socks into the drawer offered to me by Hatori, I felt the world turn on its axis. Perhaps I was flying high on my love for Tori, or perhaps one of the Sohma's unexplainable moments occurred, but I thought I heard a spinning wheel turning quietly in the background. I was a bit faint, but as the world righted itself all I felt were Tori's strong arms around me. He had felt the motion too as he smiled and said,
"Earthquake, or perhaps a Sohma moment."
Walking into our bedroom, we found a beautiful picture of us taken during Shigure's photo shoot. He had woven two red ribbons together into an intricate knot and bound the framed picture with it as if to say we belonged together. I felt completely at home.
Shigure's final words
So the Dragon Wizard and the Koi Princess found themselves completely happy ever after. The Fates had spun their ribbons together, and that thread stretched far into the distance beyond anyone's ken. But Shigure, you may ask, what of the Dog Headed Knight? Did he find love? Or was he relegated to the snowy plains for the rest of his life? Well, that's an entirely different story altogether, a story that weaves in and out with those of the happy couple and their faithful tailor, the cat boy and his mate, and a whole pantheon of other fates, all woven together to craft a luxurious tapestry filled with happiness and sadness, twists and turns, and happily n/ever afters. It is just possible that his tale is already being strung onto the loom just waiting to be woven. But I cannot tell you as the fates are no longer on speaking terms with me as I've said. Oh, I hear whisperings of their songs sometimes. Yet all I can do is begin moving furniture in my memory house to give whatever comes next some space to call home.
A/N: So that's the end of this story. I hope you liked it. As always r/r
As another note I MAY have another story pretty much finished, but I've paired Shigure with an OC. And it's a Yaoi relationship. However, Hatori and Mayu are very much involved! So, they haven't gone off to live their happy ever after in the distance. You'll actually hear a lot about their vacation in their little side bars, and they will make an appearance at the end. And Aya is central to the plot. Come on, who could break up the Mabaduchi trio plus 1! I hope you'll take this journey with me. But I understand that that might not be your thing. Just no flames please, this is just a what if. Time is a funny thing, and it's possible that there are many timelines that exist out there and our actions influence the paths of those ribbons of fate.
I'll return to Hatori and Mayu's main story soon. You'll find I tend to write in three-part story arcs. And the counting will be three in this case. I will give my rationale for my choice at the beginning of the next tale. As always, I remain—Acta!
