Weeks after the war, the reconstruction efforts continued, from sunup to sundown, everyone came together restoring what the Daleks destroyed.

UNIT used whatever was left of the Daleks destroyed during the war for their own uses, trickling down to the average joe, using the technology taken from them to lift beams up to waiting workers without using a crane.

An ironic end for the Daleks, their technology stolen from others, now stolen from them, and instead of being used to cause further destruction, restoring what was destroyed by them.

True to their word, the Cybermen hadn't found their way back to Earth, and whatever left of them was also used to help further technology on Earth, all under the watchful eye of UNIT, ensuring that another war wouldn't breakout under their nose.

Despite the destruction and deaths, humanity came through in a big way, and now better than it was, then, now understanding what lives among them and what May live among the stars.

Openly, aliens walked among people, and they worked together to rebuild what the Daleks destroyed.

Efforts went underway reuniting people with their loved ones, aliens like Dom helped find them among the rubble without issue, and Dom became something of an icon among the children, some wishing they grew up to be like him.

Experts believe that it'll take roughly three-four years of nonstop contributions before they see signs of progress, but there's hope with continued outpouring support from both sides, humans, and aliens, that they'll meet their goals in time.

Meanwhile…

After spending weeks tending to the burns on their hands, the men slowly recovered, David recovered sooner than William and Pete, but even then, he couldn't escape the infamous peeling that comes with burning.

He joked that he's just shedding skin, but it didn't land, unfortunately.

Theodore woke up from his medically induced coma, finally, though his wounds continued to heal slowly, the pain's in a manageable state, now, and he's been getting around easily in a wheelchair until his wounds fully healed and the pain gone completely.

His ferrets showed up, smuggled via a handbag with the help of Lila and Odette, and the kisses from them further helped the healing process, but it's not as easily as ridding the flu, they can only do so much, since their age, they're not as effective as they were when he was a small boy.

Still, the efforts were commendable and it helped Theodore feel better stuck in the medical centre, unable to leave it until his doctors tell him otherwise, and Lila made sure he couldn't sneak out by other means, due to their melding, whatever whims he had in mind, Lila stopped him.

Hammond's been at his side when Lila's with her family, helping them with finding their belongings in the rubble, their home suffering considerable damages from the war, that there's structural integrity concerns with the remaining parts.

With his share of the inherited money, Hammond gave Lila and her family enough money to rebuild their family home from the ground up and able to repurchase or restore anything the Daleks destroyed.

Checking his and his sibling's family home when Lila watched Theodore on some days, it's no worse for wear, somehow surviving the war, but there's a noticeable sense of emptiness as he walked around.

Having lost their parents, now their uncle, it's a terrible feeling, but as he walked among the Smith home, Hammond came across a photograph of him and his siblings with their beloved uncle on Gallifrey.

Wearing traditional robes that children wore, the Smith siblings stood with their cheerful uncle, seeing him, again, brought a smile to the usually serious Hammond, and as he continued his walk, lightly touching his uncle's favourite hat, now gone to him, he noticed something unusual in the corner of his eye.

Turning his head completely, Hammond's taken aback at the sight.

It's the TARDIS!

It appeared in his old bedroom…?

"Why on earth are you here?" Hammond raised a brow at the sight, curious as he entered his old bedroom, seeing the TARDIS in the middle.

Lila didn't bring it, she wouldn't leave Theodore's side for anything, only when the nurses threatened to arrest her for staying past the visiting hours, maybe.

He's alarmed when the door opened on its own and he sees…

"Dorothy?" Hammond's shocked at the sight of his star pupil coming out of the TARDIS, pulling on her jacket covered in pins, as she looked at him.

A mischievous smile, Dorothy greets Hammond, "Hey, professor!"

Pointing at her, Hammond asks, "Wh-how are you piloting that, where's Lila?"

A shrug, Dorothy tells him that no one's inside the TARDIS, that it just showed up in front of her, insistent that she enter it.

Trust her, she didn't steal it, it wouldn't leave her alone until she gave up and entered it, then it brought her here.

"Why'd it do that?" Dorothy asks Hammond as he studied the TARDIS from the outside, curiosity in his dark eyes.

Blinking, Hammond reached into his mind, thinking about what his late father told them growing up, what happened, and it clicked in his mind.

"Dorothy, what would you say to a… more… hands-on approach for learning?" Hammond inquired Dorothy's position on changing up her studies for something more active, causing a twinkle in her eye as she giddily nodded.

Jumping up, her purple vanes thudding against the floor, Dorothy exclaimed, "Ace, professor!"

In her own way, Dorothy excitedly agreed to the prospect of traveling with her favourite professor in the whole wide world!

Her mind caught up to her and she finally stopped jumping up, before asking her professor, "What about mum?"

No doubt discussing taking a preteen on an adventure of a lifetime wouldn't go over well, but Hammond assures her that he'll discuss it with her mother, he promises.

There's another question from Dorothy, "Er, professor, what about your brother?"

It's his TARDIS and all that…

A frown on his face, Hammond tells her, "Not anymore, my fine student, I believe there's been a development, a change. It decided that his time has come to an end and with that, it's my turn."

Despite his brother slowly healing in the medical centre, the TARDIS has chosen Hammond to helm it, no longer seeking Theodore.

It sought Hammond, instead.

"What does that mean?" Dorothy asked him as she joined his side, both looking at the TARDIS.

A sigh, Hammond tells her, "I am the Doctor."

When asked about his job at the library and his teachings, Hammond says he'll work out the details, but from now on, until otherwise, he is the new Doctor.

"Your brother won't like that," Dorothy commented as she tilted her head towards Hammond.

A smile, Hammond chuckles, "He'll get over it."

Complain, pout, despite his disappointment, Theodore will get over Hammond becoming the new Doctor, instead he'll find amusement in it, and become just like Hammond, always concerned about his adventures.

Now, isn't that a laugh?

Excitedly, Dorothy spun Hammond around, pushing him towards the opened TARDIS, seemingly waiting for them, when they went through the doorway, the door closed on its own, and the TARDIS disappeared from the bedroom.
