Chapter 3: School Time!
We continue to where we left off last time. They sat there in the classroom, waiting for Prof. Port to arrive.
"This is taking forever…" Ruby groaned, almost falling asleep.
"Chill out Rubes, it's only been 30 minutes, I'm sure he just forgot something." Jaymie said from behind her with his feet kicked up while he ate more cheesy popcorn.
A few more minutes of waiting…
After the professor set up everything, he introduced himself then began to speak.
"Monsters! Deeeemons... Prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey! Ha-ha!" He joked, getting only cricket sounds from outside.
The members of Team RWBY are seated on the front row, while Jaymie was a row behind them. they varied in stages of interest; Blake and Yang are sitting up and paying attention, Weiss is taking notes, and Ruby has her head propped in her hand as she takes a quick nap until she is woken back up by Port's bad joke.
"Uhhhh... And you shall too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy! Now, as I was saying: Vale, as well as the other three kingdoms, are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world!
Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces! And that's where we come in. Huntsmen! Huntresses…" He winked at Yang, making her slightly uncomfortable while Jaymie was trying to hide his inner clown. Then Port continued.
"Individuals who have sworn to protect those who cannot protect themselves! From what, you ask? Why, the very world!"
One student stood up, then after 5 seconds, he sat down embarrassed.
"That is what you are training to become. But first: A story. A tale of a young, handsome man... Me! When I was a boy…" He continued. Turning his lecture into a story, as his words fade into blahs.
And a long while later, his story ended.
"The moral of this story? A true Huntsman must be honorable!" He said as some students already fell asleep at the very back.
"A true Huntsman must be dependable!" He continued.
Ruby was balancing an apple on her book
"A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!"
One pause later, he spoke.
"So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?" He asked, looking left and right for a student.
Weiss was about to raise her hand when Jaymie beat her to it.
"I do, sir." he blankly said, getting up from his seat.
"Well, then, Mr. Jazzberry. Let's find out!" He said as he turned to gesture to the cage behind him.
"Step forward, and face your opponent!" He exclaimed as he readied to break the cage, Ruby and the rest cheered him on except Weiss, who was still pouting in the corner.
{ Ready to do this lad? } The mask in his pocket spoke, confusing the rest of the class. He took it out and spoke to it.
"Always, Jarred." He said, putting it on and turning into his alter ego, Jarred.
"Alright! Let the match... begin!" The professor swings down and breaks the lock, dropping the cage door and revealing the Boarbatusk inside, which immediately charges at Jarred. He calms himself down and stands still, readying his Katana.
{ You're Already Dead, Grimm… } Jarred spoke in a Monotone voice.
Then he disappeared, making the Grimm step back a few steps before being annihilated by a slash from the sides, behind and in all kinds of directions, leaving a line where he once cut.
Disappearing and re-appearing in the blink of an eye.
This confuses the Grimm, unable to process the situation.
After he returned to the place where he once stood, sheathing the blade. A three second pause later, the Boarbatusk dissipated into thin air.
Everyone gave him a round of applause.
"Thank you, thank you." He said, bowing down.
"Bravo! Bra-vo! Mr. Jazzberry. It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Hunter-in-training!" Professor Port commended him.
"Thanks prof, well. Works done mate, cya." He said as he took off the mask, returning back to normal.
"But I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!" Port said before taking his belongings and heading out the door.
Weiss just glares at them and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates.
"What's with her?" Jaune asks while watching Weiss leave the room.
"It's about her not being a leader apparently." Jaymie shrugged, leaving the room and catching up to Weiss.
"You think he can calm her down?" Ruby asked them.
"Maybe, but we should go check on them, you guys can go on to the next class." Yang said, running down the hallway with Ruby and Blake.
Back to Jaymie and Weiss…
"Weiss c'mon, stop the pouting already, let's have a talk ok?" Jaymie said, putting a hand on her shoulder and pulling her to the balcony, luckily they were all alone.
"What's the big de-" She yelped, trying to break free from his grasp.
"Look at me, do you really think you can be a leader with that attitude? I've seen all your mind has to offer Weiss, you've been spoiled your entire life, and you got what you wanted but here is different. " Jaymie said, holding onto both of her shoulders.
"I-" she stuttered, unable to speak or move.
"I'm not good with advice but please, just give Ruby a chance. You might just open up to her." He said softly, calming the ice princess down.
Then he leaned closer to her, he can feel her heart moving faster, and her breathing was erratic. She unknowingly wrapped her arms around him as she did the same as him.
"Uhh, guys?" Yang asked, right on time before they were about to… Y'know.
Weiss immediately opened her eyes and backed away. "YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS YOU INSUFFERABLE DOLT!" She shouted, storming off into the dorms.
"Yeah… Anyways, let's get to class." He said, hurriedly walk-running to the next class. The three of them looked at him then at each other, They laughed for a bit before following him.
A few 'uneventful' days later…
Jaymie was starting to like it here, he was getting along with the others quite well but after what happened a few days back, Weiss was completely ignoring him. When she sees him, she immediately hides somewhere and stuff like that.
After Cardin and Jaune's Duel, and Glynda's announcements came to a close, It was Yang and Jaymie's turn to fight.
Team JNPR and Team R(W)B(Y) cheered them on along with the other students.
"Hope you're ready for this." Jaymie grinned as he walked forward and got out the katana.
"This is about That right?" She smiled and got ready to strike.
"Wow, you still remember." He said, doing some breathing exercises before doing the same as Yang.
Glynda walked to the middle of the arena "Are you both ready?" She asked them.
"What's with the look? Scared?" She asked while staring at him.
"Not tellin' ya." He winked, looking at the bleachers for a while.
After observing both of them, Glynda said aloud "Now let the duel.. Begin!" A buzzer sounds, signaling the beginning of the match.
Yang immediately charged towards Jaymie.
He scoffed and disappeared into thin air.
Yang stopped in her tracks and looked around to find him, she closed her eyes and instinctively turned around and threw a punch to his chest.
He slammed into a wall. However he was still breathing. He jumped down and brushed himself off, then he slowly walked back to the arena.
"That hurt y'know?" He said while a trail of blood flowed down his head.
Ruby was now worried along with Blake, and Team JNPR. except Weiss but, she did worry a little bit.
"You're bleeding, you alright?" Yang asked, and in a split second, she saw that a strand of her hair was cut.
"First off, I'm fine. Second, you shouldn't talk to an opponent like that." He smirked, as he knew what was coming.
"You. Are. Dead. Meat." Her eyes turned scarlet and her hair glowed like the sun as she walked slowly towards him, gradually going faster.
"That's the neat part, I'm not going to be." He said, doing the same thing as her.
When they met in the middle, he jumped and took out the MG while in the air, he fired a storm of bullets and landed using the skateboard.
"That oughta do it." He said as he dusted his hands off, then he noticed Yang 0.02 milliseconds before her fist connected with his face.
Luckily, he dodged it just in time but didn't notice her other fist going for his left rib.
He blocked it but was still sent flying to the side.
He fell down to the ground, alive but almost unconscious. Yang calmed down after she saw him like this and rushed to help him. Little does she know, he was just faking it…
"Checkmate."
He teleported behind and sent her launching to the air, in a split second he took out the bow and started firing tons of arrows from all directions.
Then he took out his Gauntlets and started barraging her with a combination of kicks, and punches, all while in mid-air.
Then he took out the Katana and started doing the same as last time, he stopped when her Aura reached the red.
When he gracefully landed, the buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the duel…
A few minutes later…
After class, they went to the cafeteria and when they sat down, Nora told a story.
"So! There we were, in the middle of the night…" She said, trying to sound dramatic.
"It was day." Ren interrupted.
She didn't mind him and continued on.
"We were surrounded by Ursai…"
"They were Beowolves." Ren said while taking a sip of his coffee.
"Dozens of them!" she screams, as she stands at the table of both Team RWBY and JNPR, where Weiss is ignoring her and filing her nails, Ruby and Pyrrha are listening politely, Jaune is messing with his food, and Jaymie listening intently while eating popcorn.
"Two of 'em."
While Ruby and Pyrrha now look at a distant Jaune with concern, Nora continued.
"But they were no match... And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!"
Ren lets out a sigh before he spoke.
"She's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now."
"Hey, have you guys heard of Inscryption?"
Jaymie chimed in, holding a box of said card game.
"No? Why?" They ask as the lights go out, (imaginatively) Jaymie's eyes are the only thing visible.
"Now this is how you should tell a story Nora, Ahem…" He said as he set down the items included in the box. Then he takes on Leshy's role at the beginning of Act One, Nora was now in the shoes of the protagonist. And while they were doing that, the others talked about something else.
"Jaune? Are you okay?" Pyrrha asks her leader with concern. (obviously) Making Jaune break out of his trance.
"Huh? Oh, yeah! Why?" He nervously replied, getting stares from the rest.
"Guys, I'm fine. Seriously! Look!" he holds up a thumb while laughing nervously until his attention is focused on the members of Team CRDL, standing around a girl with brown rabbit ears jutting from her hair as Cardin laughs at her and Sky Lark holds up his hands to his head in a mock interpretation of her unusual features.
"Jaune, Cardin's been picking on you since the first week of school!" Pyrrha said.
"Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah... He just likes to mess around! You know, practical jokes!" He says nervously once again.
"He's a bully." Ruby outright said to him. Jaune scoffs and tells them,
"Oh, please! Name one time he's 'bullied' me." Then they replied one by one.
"He 'accidentally' dropped your book."
"He stuck you to a door."
"And he shoved you into your locker."
Jaune attempted to laugh it off.
"I didn't land far from the school!"
"Jaune, you know if you ever need help, you can just ask." Pyrrha comforts him putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Ooooh!" Nora gets up from the table and presents her diabolical plan with a not-entirely-sane grin.
"We'll break his legs!" She finished, then returned back to playing cards with Jaymie.
"Guys, really, it's fine! Besides, it's not like he's only a jerk to me; he's a jerk to everyone." He said, putting a hand behind his head and smiling sheepishly.
They all look behind them as the laughing grew louder, mixed in with cries of pain from the rabbit girl when one of her ears are tugged on by Cardin.
Jaymie hears this and stops playing for a moment. "Oh hell no! Nobody fuckin' bullies anyone on my watch." He said as he cracked his knuckles and walked towards Cardin and his crew.
"Let go of the girl dude." He said, standing in front of her.
"And who are you-" But before he could speak more, Jaymie cuts him off.
"If you don't let go of her in three to four seconds, I'm personally sending you to the nurses office." He said in a monotone voice as his hair turned fiery red.
His friends were bedazzled at the spectacle in front of them.
Cardin. Not wanting to be bossed around, threw a right hook to Jaymie's face but he dodged it and in a millisecond, using a lot of pressure. His hand broke through his Aura, hitting Cardin's vagus nerve. Knocking him out in the process.
"Well, you want that to happen to you three?" He turned and asked them, then they took their leader with them, not wanting to mess with Jaymie.
He then turned around to help the girl up, while he was doing that, his eyes turned clockwork. Again.

Trivia: Someone pointed out somewhere that Velvet is one of the first whose weapon is extremely complementary to her Semblance.
After talking for a bit with the girl, Jaymie returned back to his Team's table.
"Now where were we?" Jaymie said as he sat down, getting no response.
Then the Bell rang, the end of lunch has come.
"Well we should get going." Pyrrha said, Everyone nodded in agreement.
And that's done, this was also kinda easy. But for some reason, when i want to add a song, i can't bring myself to do it. XDD Anyways, I'll see ya in the next one. BYE!
