The whole day Dean has been in his own head, thinking things through. "Dean?" Cas called softly bringing Dean back to reality.

"Yeah?"

"I'm going to take Henry to the park for a little bit, do you want to go?"

"No.. I think I'm going to go to mom's for a little bit. I want to talk to her about this, if that's okay?"

"Sure, just don't go announcing it everywhere." Cas told him and gave him a quick kiss. "I'll text you when we're on our way home."

"Okay. Be safe." Dean said and pulled Cas back for one more kiss. He watched his boys leave the driveway and head down the road before he grabbed his keys. He got to the impala door and decided he wanted to go for a walk. Maybe that would help clear his mind.

"Mom?" He called out as he walked in.

"Kitchen!" Mary called back. Dean kicked his boots off and hung up his jacket before making his way over.

"Hey sweetie." Mary smiled.

Dean gave a half smile back. "Hi."

"Uh oh. What's going on?"

"I don't know what to do mom." Dean said and sniffled.

"What's going on?" Mary asked coming to sit next to Dean.

"Cas has a potential lead on the guy who's torturing omegas but they want him to go undercover. He might have to leave for a month. I-I don't know if I can do that. But then that makes me selfish for keeping him off the case and this guy could get away. But I want to be selfish because I'm terrified that this guy is out there."

"Have you told Cas this?" Mary asked running her hand up and down Dean's back.

"Yes and no. We've been talking about it since last night. He has to give his answer tomorrow."

"I sorry honey I don't really know what to tell you. I don't know what to tell actually. You know that if Cas does do this you'll have all the support the support you'll need here. I know it's going to be hard to be with out him."

"What do you think he should do?"

"I think he should go." Mary said and Dean dropped his head into his hands.

"I'm sorry sweetie but if it's going to get this guy off the streets and make you and any other omega feel safe then that's the case."

"I know." Dean sighed. Just as he was about to say something his phone rang.

"That was a fast trip to the park." Dean answered.

"Dean. It's Amelia."

"What? What happened. Cas why are there sirens!?" Dean started panicking and hopped off the bar stool.

"Dean. She's dead."

"WHAT?!"

"I got to go I need you to come get Henry. We're still at at the park, I'll let them know to let you through."

"Wait! I don't have the Impala! I walked!"

"Dean you can borrow my car." Mary said handing him the keys.

"Okay mom's giving me her car, tell them to look for that."

"I will. Just hurry."

"Dean what's going on?" Mary asked.

"I-I don't know. I need to get Henry." Dean said.

"Okay, I'm driving you are not fit to drive right now." Mary said and took her keys back.

"Amelia is dead." Dean said once they were in the car.

"What, how?" Mary asked pulling out of the driveway.

"I don't know. Cas wouldn't tell me but they're at the park."

Mary pulled into a parking space and Dean ran towards the crowd. "Sir I'm sorry but you can't go in there." One of the officers stated.

"I need to get my son." Dean told him.

"Oh, you're Novak's mate. Sorry come on through."

"Thank you." Dean mumbled and ran down the hill and immediately saw Cas talking with officers and had Henry in his arms with his head buried in his papa's neck.

"Cas." Dean said slightly breathless.

"Daddy!" Henry sobbed and reached for Dean.

"I'm here baby. I'm here." Dean said and took Henry, blood running cold when he saw blood on Henry's clothes and a little on henry's cheek. He quickly calmed himself down so Henry wouldn't breath in his worried smell.

Dean surveyed the area and that's when he saw the white sheet covering Amelia's body on the sidewalk and his heart broke when he saw Claire sobbing into a social worker's shirt. He may have hated Amelia but he felt bad for the little girl.

"Dean, you can take Henry home." Cas said breaking his conversation with his fellow officers.

"You sure?" Dean asked.

"Yes, get him out of here. He's seen enough today. I'll be home shortly."

"Okay." Dean said softly and carried his son back to his mom's vehicle.

"No!" Henry cried when Dean tried to put Henry in his carseat.

"Henry you have to baby. It's only a short drive." Dean told him.

"NOOO!" Henry sobbed.

"Okay, what if I sit back here with you?" Dean asked and Henry nodded. He got Henry situated and jogged around to the other side and slid in next to his son who immediately reached for Dean's hand.

"What happened?" Mary asked.

"I don't know Cas hasn't told me anything." Dean said and held Henry's hand a little tighter.

They got home and Mary came in with Dean. "I'm going to get him cleaned up."

"Okay I'll get some food started."

Dean got the bath started and got Henry inside who was still sniffling. "Are you hurt baby?" Dean asked and Henry shook his head no.

"Okay, let's get you cleaned up and into some different clothes." Dean said softly and carefully washed the blood of his son's cheek hating the distant look in the 3 year old's eyes. "Okay, up." Dean said instructing his son to stand.

"Henry how did you get this bruise?" Dean asked noticing the small bruise/scrape forming on Henry's thigh, near his knee.

"I falled down."

"Aw I'm sorry baby. Does it hurt?" Dean asked and Henry shrugged. "Let's get some ointment on it." Dean said and gently put some antibiotic cream on it apologizing when Henry winced.

"Come on grandma's making lunch." Dean said once Henry was redressed.

"I not hungry." Henry whined into Dean's neck.

"Can you try to eat something at least. For daddy?" Dean felt Henry nod as he walked down the stairs.

"Dean when was the last time you got groceries?" Mary huffed once they were in the kitchen.

"I was planning on going today when Cas and Henry got home."

"Make me a list. I'll go for you." Mary sighed and set a plate of grilled cheese and chips in front of Henry and Dean.

"No, I can go mom it's just been hectic the past few days." Dean said taking a chip and handing it to Henry who just nibbled on it.

Dean was able to get Henry to eat half a sandwich and a few chips before he gave up on trying to feed him. "Do you want to go lay down?"

"No." Henry whined and clung closer to Dean.

"What if I lay down with you?"

"In your bed?"

"Yes in my bed." Dean agreed.

"Okay."

"Give grandma a hug and kiss goodbye and tell her thank you for lunch."

Henry let Mary pick him up and he said thank you and reached back for Dean. "Send me your shopping list." Mary said and kissed Dean's cheek before leaving.

"Fine." Dean huffed and carried his son upstairs.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom I'll be right back." Dean said once he had Henry tucked in.

"No." Henry whined.

"Henry I'll be back in just a second, I promise." Dean said gently prying his hand out of Henry's grip.

"See I'm back." Dean reassured Henry and crawled in next to him. Henry flung himself onto Dean and pressed his nose against his neck and was asleep a few minutes later.

Cas came in about half an hour later. "Hey." he whispered.

"Hey." Dean whispered back.

"I'm going to go shower, then we can talk."

Dean adjusted himself so he was sitting against the headboard but made sure not to jostle Henry too much. "He hasn't left you alone has he?" Cas asked.

"No. He freaks out if I do. What the fuck happened Cas?"

Cas sighed and crawled into the bed. "It all happened so fast. I was pushing Henry on the swing when they showed up. I grabbed Henry and we started walking down the sidewalk when Amelia yelled my name and when I turned around she had the gun… I grabbed Henry and Claire and tried talking her down but she wouldn't listen. She said that if she can't have me she has no reason to live and I tried explaining that she had Claire to think of. But she wouldn't listen. I took one step towards her that's when she shot herself in the head. The kids and I got splattered when she hit the ground."

"Oh my god Cas. I am so sorry." Dean whispered and reached out to touch his mate.

"Claire and Henry started screaming. I had to hold her back while I called 911." Cas started crying a little bit.

"God Dean. It was horrible. And I've seen some horrible things being a cop. I know we had issues with her but I still knew her when she was younger and she was so kind."

Dean put Henry down on the bed and slid over to Cas to pull him into a hug. "I'm so sorry baby." They sat in silence for a while before Dean spoke again. "I think you should take the undercover job."

"What? Are you sure?"

"No. But you need the distraction and that guy needs to be in jail. This has to stop Cas."

"I could be gone for a long time."

"I know. It's going to suck but we'll be okay." Dean kissed Cas' neck and pulled away. "You stay here with Henry and rest. I'm going to head downstairs, mom is going to be here soon with groceries."

"Okay." Cas said quietly and helped Dean crawl over him so they didn't bother Henry.

Dean sat downstairs in shock. Yes he hated Amelia for what she's done but he would never want that to happen. Especially for Claire. He of course was mad at the fact that Henry had to witness that and he'll carry that for the rest of his life. He must have dozed off because he was startled when Mary shook his shoulder.

"Sorry!" She apologized.

"It's okay. I didn't even know I fell asleep." Dean yawned and got up to help her with groceries. "Mom, this is way more than what was on the list." Dean frowned.

"I know." Mary shrugged.

"Then at least let me pay you back."

"I'm not worried about it." Mary continued to argue. "Hows Henry and Cas?" she asked as they put things away.

"Shook up. Henry is going to be scarred for life. Cas is going to carry that guilt with him as well." Dean sighed.

"They're tough boys. They'll be okay." They put the rest of the groceries away in silence. Cas and Henry came down shortly after they got everything put away and Henry was clinging to Cas refusing to be put down and Dean questioned Henry's change of clothes.

"He had a nightmare. I need you to take him so I can put the sheets in the laundry.

"Come here big guy." Dean said softly and took the 3 year old from Cas.

"I'll get out of here and let you guys be. I'll talk to you later, let me know if you need anything."

"I will. Thank you for the groceries." Dean hugged his mom as best as he could with Henry clinging to him.

"You're welcome. Bye Henry."

Henry just waved.

"Do you want to play?" Dean asked and carried Henry to the living room. Henry shook his head no, "okay do you want to watch a movie?" That got a yes so Dean sat on the couch and settled for 'Lilo and Stitch'.

"Still not talking?" Cas asked.

"No." Dean frowned.

"Give him some time." Cas sat next to his little family and they watched the movie together.

"Novak, you have an answer for me?" The captain asked as soon as he saw Cas.

"Yes sir."

"Alright come to my office after lunch."

"Yes sir." Cas repeated.

Cas was on the list to patrol so he grabbed his keys and headed to his squad car. He hit the highway and started driving around, Cas ended up pulling two people over, one for speeding and one for a broken tail light. He drove around some more and decided to drive by the house just to do a check up. As he assumed the house was quiet, the Impala parked where it always is and he could see the light on in the living room. Satisfied nothing going on in the neighborhood he took off towards the hospital to do a sweep there.

Cas' stomach started growling so he stopped at the roadhouse for some lunch. "Well, well. If it isn't officer Novak." Jo whistled. "Are we in some sort of trouble mister?" she giggled.

"Knowing you Jo, it's a good possibility." Cas chuckled.

"What can I get ya?" Jo asked.

"Uh, let's do a chicken sandwich and fries with a coke."

"Alrighty $10.50." Jo said after ringing everything up, Cas gave her a $20 and told her to keep it.

Back at the station Cas went straight for the captains office and knocked. "Come in!"

Cas opened the door and saw the captain on the phone, "uh huh. He's here now, let me call you back in like an hour."

"That was Detective Harrison. What am I telling him?"

"I'll do it." Cas told him and the captain looked shocked.

"Not going to lie Novak, I didn't think you would. I know how much your family means to you."

"That's exactly why I'm doing it. Dean and I have talked about it through great lengths and he was the one who told me to do it. You were right sir, I wasn't going to."

"Your mate understands that you'll have little to no contact with him for who knows how long?" the captain asked.

"Yes sir. It's going to be tough but we'll make it work."

"Alright then. I see that you have your cycle time already in the books so we'll obviously wait until after that. But you realize you could be gone until your next cycle?"

"Yes sir, I wanted to ask you about that. If I do happen to be undercover that long do I have permission to come back for our cycles? My mate has terrible heats if I'm not there."

"You are true mates right?" the captain asked.

"Yes sir."

"That's very rare to come by. If you're gone that long we will pull you for your cycles but you'll have to go back in."

"I understand sir. Thank you."

"Alright, finish your shift. I'll get back to you on details."

"Thank you." Cas excused himself and went back to his desk to start doing paperwork on the two pull overs he had.

He was about done with the last report when his phone buzzed.

"Is it alright if swing by home real quick? Henry is still very shaken up over the events that happened yesterday and he would like to see me." Cas asked the captain when hen happened to walk by his desk.

"That's fine just do some patrolling while you're out."

"Can do. Thank you sir." Cas shot a quick text to Dean telling him he'd be there in like 10 minutes.

Cas pulled up the driveway and saw Dean and Henry standing there waiting for him. "Papa!" Henry yelled and ran towards him.

"Hey buddy!" Cas grinned and picked him up.

"Daddy says I can make the siren go off." Henry smiled and Cas was happy to see his smile.

"Sure but only one time okay?"

"Okay papa." Henry continued to smile and crawled into Cas' lap.

"Push this button up." Cas told him and had to laugh when both Henry and Dean jumped at the loud sound. Henry quickly threw his hands over his good ear so Cas shut it off.

"That's too loud papa." Henry frowned.

"I'm sorry." Cas chuckled here push this up." Cas said and pointed to the button to make his lights start to flash.

"Oooo!" Henry giggled.

"Here talk into this." Cas said and held the button down for the PA system outside of the car.

"Hi daddy!" Henry giggled and Dean just waved. Cas helped Henry out of the car and asked Dean how he was doing.

"I'm alright. Just trying to keep him occupied so he doesn't think of things."

"I told them I'd go undercover." Cas told him.

"Oh. That's good." Dean said tears welling up.

"Hey, why are you crying. I thought you were okay with this?" Cas asked moving closer to his mate.

"I am. It's just the idea of you being gone scares me."

"I can tell them no." Cas suggested.

"No! You need to do this. I'll be okay." Dean assured him. As Cas was about to say something his radio went off. "There's an armed robbery going on at the 2010 North Case street gas station. All near by units requested."

"Gotta go." Cas said and gave Dean and Henry a kiss.

"Be careful!" Dean yelled after him and Cas threw the lights and siren on and took off towards the robbery.
