Chapter 52 Friendship Finale Part 2
After Yuya summoned his Synchro Pendulum Monster: Nirvana High Paladin, Melissa says, "Yuya not only completes a Pendulum Summon, he also performs a Synchro Summon without a Tuner!"
"Interesting... You truly are interesting, Sakaki Yuya!" Jack says with a smile.
"Battle! I attack Red Demon's Dragon Scarlight with Nirvana High Paladin! Truth Sukhavati!"
The new monster shoots out a green and purple beam, which manages to hit Jack. (Jack:4100-3800)
"I activate the Continuous Trap: King Scarlet! Along with negating Red Demon's Dragon Scarlight's destruction, I Special Summon King Scarlet, which can be used as a Tuner Monster!" (ATK:0/DEF:0 LV:1)
"This is another surprise! Jack manages to negate the destruction and Special Summon a Trap Card as a Tuner Monster!" Melissa says.
Yuya says, "I end my turn here."
"Yuya and Jack..." Frank says.
"...are kinda amazing!" Amanda finishes.
"They take a hit and send another one back!" Tanner says.
Kiryu says, "It's a fierce clashing of their strongest weapons."
"As expected from the finals!" "I can't stop watching this!" The Tops and Commons are cheering for both of them.
"Looks like you've finally truly started speaking with your own words!" Jack takes a blocked road, separating from Yuya. "Then I will answer to you with my Dueling!"
"My turn!" He draws the card and says, "I Summon Tuner Monster, Mirror Resonator!" (ATK:0/DEF:0 LV:1)
Yuya looks at the field and says, "He has two Tuner Monsters...I guess the Double Tuning is about to come..."
"Now what will the King...!" But then she sees that Jack's path ends in a sheer drop and she cries, "Oh no! There isn't anywhere left to go for the King!"
Yuya says, "This scene...it just like Yusei..."
Flames glow in his eyes as Jack declares, "I will make my own path! Listen to the roar of my soul! Can you feel it? My life's energy! Bear witness, this is my Dueling! The cry of a King who searches for a challenge without end!"
He extends his Duel Runner control handles similarly to how Crow did when flying on the Blackbird. Slats open on the side of his D-Wheel. "He's flying!"
"I double Tune my Level 8 Scarlight with Level 1 Mirror Resonator and King Scarlet!" Jack declares.
"I knew it..." Yuya says.
"No way!" The children gasp in shock.
"The King and devil now cross here! Call upon the soul of the Crimson Dragon, and raise the roar of creation itself! Synchro Summon! Come forth! Level 10! Red Daemon's Dragon Tyrant (ATK:3500/DEF:3000 LV:10)!"
Jack lands on the other side of the gap. "Jack's symbol has been powered up with Double Tuning!" Melissa comments as the whole audience are cheering for the Duel King.
"That's amazing, Jack!" "This is the power of the King!"
"Jack is still evolving..." Sam comments.
"I bet being the Duel King isn't the top to him." Aki says. "What comes off as him being arrogant is probably because there wasn't an opponent that could push him higher. And that guy has finally appeared."
Jack accelerates ahead of Yuya and he swivels around. "I activate Red Daemon's Dragon Tyrant's Effect! Once per Turn, it destroys cards beside itself! Absolute Power Inferno!"
Yuya says, "I use Stardust's Neo Dragon's effect! By banishing this card, I can negate that effect! Victim Sanctuary!"
As the dragon disappeared, Jack says, "Then battle! I attack Nirvana Paladin with Tyrant! Crimson Hell Tide Inferno!" The Red dragon's body was covered by crimson flames, and then the dragon blasts a flame from its mouth.
"By using Gumgumouton's Pendulum Effect! Once per Turn, I negate destruction by Battle!" Yuya says.
"When Tyrant attacks, it can negate the activation of any Magic cards and destroy them! And it then increases its own ATK by 500! Pendulum Cards are treated as Magic Cards." (ATK:3500-4000)
Yuya gets hit by the damage once the monster is destroyed. (Yuya:3400-2700)
"Now, I activate Nirvana High Paladin's Effect! When this card is destroyed, I can set it in Pendulum Zone!" Nirvana High Paladin appears from a Magic circle and enters the left Pendulum Zone.
Jack says, "So you were even prepared for that much? I set one card and end my turn."
Yuya says, "No, I didn't plan it at all. I only did all that was I capable of."
"Then that's even more interesting. You've just now started to communicate with your own will!" Jack says.
"My own will?" Yuya asks.
"That's right! Dueling is a conversation with your opponent! The words you use there can be ones learned from someone else. What's important is if you can use those properly to convey your will to your opponent! That is the true meaning of Duel!"
"It doesn't matter who you learn your words from..." Yuya gasps. "That is true, the first person who taught me the words I use in Dueling was my Father. But I didn't learn just from my father...The Principal, Mom, Gongenzaka, Yuzu, Yuni, Zarc, Zarine, Katrina, Vivian, Ryu, from everyone I've fought this far! That's it! Whether I lost or won, Dueling has been what made me who I am! The Dueling I've had up until now isn't something I made alone!"
At the same time, everyone has been trying to stop the riot, Yuni, Reisho, Ron, Jean, Ryu, Sawatari, Gongenzaka, and other Lancers are stopping the riot. Yuya continues, "Everyone...I was able to make it this far! Even though I did the first Pendulum Summon, it wouldn't have evolved this much on my power alone! I get it now, Jack! A dueling that isn't borrowed...! Dueling that isn't conceited! What that truly is! At this time, Stardust Dragon returns to my field!"
After the dragon is back, Yuya says, "My turn!" He draws a card and says, "I use Magic Card! Entermate Level Draw! I have Stardust Dragon who is Level 8, so I release it and I can draw 8 cards!"
As he did, he draws the 8 cards and smiles, "I use Magic Card: Pendulum Exchange! I target my Anthesis Magician in my Pendulum Zone! I return it to my hand and set another monster from my hand on it. I set Scale 2 Acrobat Magician!"
After the monster is destroyed while Yuya sets the Acrobat Magician, he says, "With this, I can simultaneously Summon Monsters from Levels 3 to 7! Sway, Pendulum of the Soul! Draw an arc of light across the aether! Pendulum Summon! Come forth! My Monsters!"
5 beams of lights are shooting everywhere until Timesword Magician (ATK:1400/DEF:0 LV:3 PS:2), Entermate Radish Horse (ATK:500/DEF:2000 LV:4 PS:3), Entermate Gumgumouton (ATK:900/DEF:2400 LV:5 PS:1), Entermate Bubble Dog (ATK:2300/DEF:1000 LV:6 PS:5), and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (ATK:2500/DEF:2000 LV:7 PS:4) appear on the field.
"Simultaneously Summoning 5 Monsters…?" Jack muses.
"Really?" Melissa says.
"What a feat!" Choujiro says.
And both the Tops and Commons are shocked at the sight. Yuya says, "I'm fighting alongside everyone!"
Then Yuya looks at the Smile World card, "I activate the Magic Card: Smile World from my hand!"
Smiles appear on the field and Yuya says, "This card increases the ATK of all monsters by 100 for each monster on the field! There are 6 monsters on the field! So their ATK is increased by 600! (ATK:4000-4600)(ATK:1400-2000)(ATK:500-1100)(ATK:900-1500)(ATK:2300-2900)(ATK:2500-3100) Next, I activate the effect of the now 1100 ATK Radish Horse! It lowers Red Demon's Dragon Tyrant's ATK by 1100 this turn, and I increase Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's the same amount!" (ATK:4600-3500)(ATK:3100-4200)
"Odd-Eyes' ATK is higher than Jack's Dragon's ATK!" Rua says.
"And Yuya has five monsters on his Field!" Ruka nods.
"C-could this be...?!" Choujiro asks.
"Is the King going to lose?" A Tops wonders
"That unrivaled King?" A Commons looks in disbelief.
"I activate Trap Card: Over the Red! When a Red Synchro Monster's ATK is lowered, its ATK has doubled this turn, and by banishing Red Daemon's Dragon Scarlight in my Graveyard, I can add its ATK to Tyrant!" Jack opens one of his two Reverse Cards that significantly increases Tyrant's ATK to higher than any of Yuya's monsters. (3500-10000)
The rioting Commons dropped whatever they were holding the moment they saw Jack has increased his dragon's ATK to 10000. Melissa says, "What?! You're kidding me!"
"An ATK of 10000..." Yuni says, "He is really good."
Hana says, "I agree. He's on an entirely different level now!"
"Just like the past, Jack Atlas truly is a fearsome opponent!" Mark says.
"This is my Dueling, a King's Dueling!" Jack says. "Now, follow me, Sakaki Yuya! With your Dueling, your words, and the cry of your soul, face me!"
Yuya says, "Just as my father fought with the pride of being the founder of Entertainment Dueling, as the founder of Pendulum Summoning, I will fight you with pride in my own words!"
Yuya also jumps off the track as Melissa yells in horror, "Woah! Yuya, what are you doing?!"
He raises his hand and says, "I activate Nirvana High Paladin's Pendulum Effect with Timesword Magician as its target! This Turn, Timesword Magician cannot be destroyed in the battle and negates all battle damage dealt with me! Go! Timsword Magician! Attack Red Demon's Dragon Tyrant!"
"Wait! Even if it can't be destroyed, there's no point in attacking a 10000 ATK with a 2000 ATK one!" Melissa says.
Yuya lands back on the ground and says, "The monster targeted by Nirvana High Paladin's monster effect lowers the ATK of all monsters my opponent controls by its own amount after it battles!"
As Nirvana High Paladin placed its spell on Timesword Magician, the small Magician attacks with its sword, slashing at Tyrant who blocks it. (ATK:10000-8000)
"It brought it down by 2000 ATK!" The children say.
"But that alone won't bother Jack in the slightest." Kiryu says.
"Is this what your cry amounts to?! It didn't resonate with my soul for even a second!" Jack questions.
"Each of our voices alone may be small, but I will make sure that they resonate with your heart! All of their voices!" Yuya answers confidently.
"That's the spirit Yuya!" Crow cheers, riding with several Commons behind them. "Everyone in the City is watching your Duel! Now is the time to tell them your words!"
"Now that it's come this far, I'll bet it all on you!" Shinji adds. "Give it your all, Yuya!"
"Crow, Shinji…" Yuya stares hard at his friends before smiling in return. He opened his arms wide as he stated his usual catchphrase. "The fun has just begun! When the battle ends, Nirvana High Paladin's Pendulum Effect target switches to a Monster one Level higher than the previous target! It switches from Level 3 Timesword Magician to Level 4 Entermate Radish Horse! Go, Radish Horse! Attack Red Demon Dragon Tyrant!"
The horse charges at the dragon as it hits the target. (ATK:8000-6900)
"It went down again!" Tanner says.
"This time it went down Radish Horse's ATK, 1100!" Frank says.
A group of Duel Chasers led by Ushio and Kazama also joins by riding on the course beside Jack. The Duel Chaser that had been defeated by Yuya cheers for the two Duelists.
"You lot, let's drive with our hearts at full speed alongside this Duel!" Ushio orders the other Duel Chasers behind him, who all agree, including the Duel Chaser 227.
"After the battle, Nirvana High Paladin's effect shifts to the Level 5 Gumgumouton!" Yuya says.
"It's like the monsters are holding hands while fighting!" Amanda says.
Yuya says, "You're next! Gumgumouton, attack Red Demon Dragon Tyrant!" (ATK:6900-5400)
"He lowered it again!" A man in the Commons comments, continuing to be amazed together with everyone. "Tyrant's ATK is at 5400!"
"I get it! He Summoned those five Monsters, all of one different Level to use Nirvana High Paladin's Effect repeatedly!" Mark says.
Sawatari excitedly brings Gongenzaka into his right arm while his left arm is on Mark. "Well done, Yuya! I hate to admit it, but you're doing great! As a reward, I'll give a name to this move just for you. I'll call it–" Unfortunately for Sawatari, Gongenzaka has beaten him to it as he brought a Duel Chaser beside him into his arm.
"Straight Pendulum!" Gongenzaka exclaims, much to Sawatari's dismay.
"Next up is Level 6 Bubble Dog! Go, attack Red Demon's Dragon Tyrant!" Yuya yells. (ATK:5400-2500)
"Woah, what is this?! There are D-Wheels, cars, helicopters, and even the monorail here to watch their Duel!" From the helicopter to Melissa's astonishment, there are cars, buses, and other transportation joining Yuya and Jack in the course. Not only in the course but there are even other helicopters flying to watch the Duel. The new sight brings laughter to Jack.
"I see, this is it! These are your words, Sakaki Yuya! Even though each of their voices may be small, if you combine their power, they resonate with great strength! This must mean that your wishes and feelings have been passed on to the people of City!" Jack looks at his surrounding in awe.
"Wow, this is amazing!" Melissa comments. "It's a huge uproar with the entire City involved! I've never seen anything like this before!"
"If everyone in this City joins hands together, they can overcome any obstacle! Together, they can stop Academia! This is what we believe!" Yuya replies as he finally enters the same course as Jack once more.
Jack faces his D-Wheel toward Yuya as he spreads his arms. "Now come, Yuya! See this to the end with your Dueling! I will take all of it with everything I have!"
"Thank you, King!" Yuya took a breath before he began, in his Entertainment Dueling style. The spotlight focused on him. "Ladies and Gentlemen!"
The crowd cheers loudly as Yuya continues, "Now then, everyone, it's finally the climax! After the Monsters from Level 3 to 6 are over, the next one is…7! Our last performer of the day in this show will be Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" The Pendulum Effect shifted to the last Monster, Odd-Eyes.
Duel Chaser 227 says, "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's current ATK is 4200, if he attacks the lowered ATK Red Demon's Dragon Tyrant, it will be destroyed but it won't take out all of Jack's LP."
In the car, the arrested Gallager says, "There's no way he would come this far without an answer. That boy has got something, these eyes of Gallager the Promoter are never wrong!"
Everyone starts to chant at Yuya, Melissa says, "Look at this! Everyone's feelings and expectations are all on Sakaki Yuya!"
Amanda gasps, "D-Wheels are the symbol of freedom! It was something Crow had said... That the D-Wheel is the symbol of hope for the Commons who were seeking freedom! Right now, New Domino City is becoming one with Yuya's Dueling!"
Yuya says, "Now everyone! Say it with me for the last attack!" Then everyone yells, "Go! Battle! Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon attacks Red Daemon's Dragon Tyrant! Spiral Flame Strike!"
As the dragon attacks, Yuya says, "At this moment, I activate Odd-Eyes' effect! When it battles a Level 5 or higher monster, the battle damage is doubled! Reaction Force!"
As Yuya's dragon destroys the Red Daemon Dragon, Jack also smiles. (Jack:3800-0)
At the same time, Yuya rides past Jack. "The winner is Sakaki Yuya! The one standing on the throne of the Friendship Cup is a boy of 14 years! A promising star who uses Entertainment Dueling and Pendulum Summon! Sakaki Yuya!" Melissa announces Yuya's victory while she herself applauds the boy.
Crow, Shinji, Kiryu, and the escaped Duel Chasers all cheer, and New Domino City chant Yuya's name.
"He did it!" Rua cheers. "Yeah." Ruka says.
The citizens continue to chant Yuya's name and applaud, and the citizens, Duel Chasers and Commons cheer together.
Yuni, Reisho, Mark, and Hana just smile as they remember back before Zarc gives into darkness. Yuya removes his goggles and he laughs happily.
Everyone has stopped and watches as Jack stands with his back to Yuya. Yuya turns to Jack and says, "Thank you, King."
"I'm not the King anymore!" Jack says as Yuya hastily apologizes.
"Winning the Friendship Cup, you are now the new Duel King, Yuya." Jack tells the boy and smiles. "Bringing smiles with Dueling. This is what you believe in? The power of Smile World?"
"No, it's not just my power alone." Yuya turns to the people of the City who were celebrating his victory together. "It's because I was able to fight against you, because it was a Duel against Jack Atlas... The City was able to smile this much!"
Jack raises Yuya's hand and announces to New Domino City, "Everyone of this City! I am at the summit of happiness now! Sakaki Yuya is the Duelist I was searching for, one who could speak through his Dueling, a true Duelist! I am proud I was able to battle with this man today!"
The citizens of New Domino City cheer, but their joy is interrupted by a large grey helicopter that hovers over Yuya and Jack.
"What is this helicopter that has appeared in the skies of the City during the celebration of Yuya's victory?" Melissa asks.
Three holograms of the High Council appear in the sky above New Domino City, White Taki says, "To every one of the City, with the Friendship Cup ending, we of the Council have something we'd like to confess to you."
Bordeaux says, "We said the Friendship Cup was a celebration singing the unity of Tops and Commons. But it is, in fact, just a tournament to find the strongest Duelist to become the King."
White Taki adds, "Our plan thus far was to use that King to bring together the Tops and Commons and maintain the current status quo of society."
Gael says, "Simply put, we didn't care who became the King."
Gray elaborates, "As long as there wasn't someone who would try and challenge our authority or our position."
Yuni mutters, "Roget..."
"But during this tournament, it was brought to our attention that this way of thinking was old-fashioned, cowardly, and underhanded." Azul says.
"Thanks to Jack, Sakaki Yuya, and Sakaki Yuni, as well as the Lancers, we were able to see a new side of New Domino City. There was a society where Tops or Commons didn't matter and they would lend a shoulder to one another with smiles on our faces." White Taki says. "We, the Council, will disband today and leave the future of New Domino City to the younger generation. I'd like those who approve of this decision to show their agreement by applauding."
Tops and Commons alike clap the decision, including Aki, Kiryu, Crow, and Shinji.
"What a moving scene! Right now, there are no Tops and Commons anymore! New Domino City is truly one, we're all friends. To be able to commentate on such a historical event, I definitely got it!" But when she strikes a pose she nearly falls out of her helicopter and only just regains her balance.
After the announcement, Gael asks, "Was this really the best choice?"
Grey says, "We still have a few cases left unresolved..."
Azul says, "Yes, we haven't determined our stance in the Dimensional War as the Synchro Dimension."
Bordeaux says, "That is something the people of this City should decide themselves. Isn't that right, Chairman?"
White Taki says, "Yes. Those who will be responsible for it will decide. Now, the people of this City will determine their own future that they will be responsible for. Whatever future that may be..."
With Yuni, Reisho, Reira, Mark, and Hana walking toward Yuya, Yuni says, "Brother, our fight isn't over yet."
Yuya nods and says, "Yeah."
At the same time, Yuzu and Ruri are still battling Roget, who somehow disappears and returns to the field.
"Is he a zombie? Why can't he be defeated..." Yuzu says in anger.
Ruri says, "Don't worry. We still have my Magic Card, Graveyard Lyrical Luscinia Recharge. Whenever he gets back, he will be one turn killed."
"Yuzu! Ruri!" Katrina yells as the two girls see the Lancers approaching them.
"Brother! Mom! Dad! Everyone!" Ruri says happily.
Aera asks, "What is Roget doing to you?"
Ruri says, "Well..." She sweatdrops as they see Assembly Nightingale destroys Roget, But the previous one disappears and another one comes out again.
"I won't be defeated." Roget says.
Yuzu says, "You have said that for the 52nd time."
"52nd?" Yuri says. "Are you serious?"
Vivian says, "It sure is ridiculous." She then opens the door and sees on top of the control room, Roget is wearing a visor and she says, "There he is!"
Roget is frustrated as he takes off his visor, he says, "Curse you Sakakis..."
Condor says, "Roget, your plan has failed. Why don't you just surrender."
Roget yells, "I'll never lose! I am the true winner!"
Reiji says, "Oh really? Then why are you resorting to dirty tricks like wearing Yuzu and Ruri out so you can take them to Academia?"
"SHUT UP!" He presses the button on his remote as the building starts to shake. Much to their shock. And without their notice, Roget grabs Yuzu in his hand.
"Let go of me!" Yuzu yells.
"Yuzu!" Katrina and Vivian chase her as Sora decides to call for help.
"Yuya! Yuni!" The Lancers outside are surprised to see him. "We saved Ruri, but Roget has taken Yuzu and ran away!"
"What?" Yuya gasps.
"Roget has...!" Sawatari asks.
"Taken Yuzu?" Ryu asks.
"Roget said he was going to take Yuzu with him to Academia! You have to hurry up and stop him-" Then the explosion blocks the call.
"Sora!" Yuya exclaims.
"Roget? He still doesn't admit defeat?" Yuni is dumbfounded.
The High Council's helicopter alights in front of them; White Taki says, "Yuya, Yuni, Reisho, we will take you to the Public Security headquarters, get in!"
The three of them nod as Mark says, "You guys go first, we will catch up to you."
"Okay." Then the helicopter rides off.
And this is the second part of Jack and Yuya's duel, which is basically the same as the anime. I hope you like it and we'll be having the final duel of this Arc in the next chapter.
