Cara just finished her first semester at UA High being at the top of her class. What will this summer bring? Will she be able to keep her hero licenses? What of her relationship with Shoto? Can she keep all her classmates protected? And can she survive the summer and start of the second semester alive? Third installment of A Hero's Daughter's Beginning of her Hero Story.

33. Chapter 33

Back from where Izuku, Ochaco, Tenya, and I were with Hatsume and Power Loader. Izuku just got done explaining that he wants to also do leg moves.

Hatsume says, "Leg-centric techniques? Ingenious! If your arms are unstable, then start kicking. Very clever. I've got some great ideas. Just give me a few minutes and I'll whip up some super cute leg babies you'll totally die for!"

Izuku says, "Um, actually, the thing is...I don't really wanna change the design of my costume very much if I can help it."

Hatsume says, "A good designer meets the reckless, ignorant, and ill advised demands of the client. How 'bout it, sir? If my work is good enough, will you please add it to his costume?"

Power Loader says, "If it's safe, sure." Hatsume continues muttering.

Izuku mutters to himself, "So, they're not even going to ask me."

Hatsume says to Izuku, "Oh, by the way. If your legs are your new selling point, then, you're probably going to be more of a speed-type hero rather than a power-type you've been marketing yourself as."

Izuku says, "That's true."

Hatsume says, "With his stature and weight, Iida here is basically an armored tank equipped with an F1 engine. It's gonna be hard to impress if you're in the same ring as him."

Izuku says, "Oh! Wait a second! I've got a power-up move called Full Cowling I'm getting good at. It lets me increase my whole body's strength."

Hatsume says, "Oh, in that case, I know just what to do."

I watch as Ochaco looks kinda dejected in the corner as all of Izuku's attention is on Hatsume though if it were Shoto I'd probably feel the same though him and Dad have both had their hands full with helping me every night since they trade shifts. Shoto normally takes the first shift and Dad takes the second to help with the nightmares.

We got our costumes worked on and thankfully Power Loader was mostly able to do mine though my new goggles had to be approved so it would be a few days.

As the days passed, our training to create our ultimate moves continued and I helped where I could with my classmates.

Four Days Later

All Might walked up to Dad and me and says, "Aizawa. How are things progressing?"

Dad turned to him and says, "You're back again? We're getting there."

We watch as Tokoyami called out Dark Shadow and says, "Now. Onto me, Dark Shadow."

Dark Shadow says, "Right!" And drapes himself over Tokoyami causing Midnight to give a thumbs up.

Tokoyami says, "By covering myself with Dark Shadow. My strength is enhanced. I'm better at close combat. I call it Abyssal Black Body!"

Midnight asks, "Is that hard to say? It's important that it's easy to call out."

Dark Shadow says, "Got it!"

Dad says, "Some of them have finally solidified their fighting styles. And there are those already putting together multiple special moves."

We turn to watch Bakugo. Bakugo says while focusing on his move, "New move. Not from my entire hand. But a blast from a single, concentrated point. AP Shot!" He blasts a hole through the concrete. He screams, "Ha, ha! I did it!"

All Might says, "No surprise that Young Bakugo is doing well. As usual."

Dad says, "Uh-huh."

I look up sharply as a piece of rock starts falling from what Bakugo blasted and goes towards All Might.

Bakugo calls out, "Hey! Watch out!"

Dad gasps stepping forward a bit while grabbing his Capture Weapon and calls, "Cara!"

All Might watches as the rock gets closer and I focus on the rock.

I hear Izuku mutter, "I got the idea for Full Cowling from Gran Torino and Kacchan. It requires quick, small movements combined with precise maneuvering. In order to keep that up, I need equipment that maximizes my Quirk. Arm-supporting braces and iron soles that can act like cleats or armor."

The rock starts to glow as I focus more. Izuku using Full Cowling goes towards the glowing rock and he yells, "Smash!" and kicks the glowing rock which as he kicked it it became millions of glowing Blades of Light specially dull.

Izuku mutters, "All Might's signature moves usually involve his fists. Since I inherited One For All from him, I tried to do the same thing. Copying his every technique. That's where I went wrong. It's so obvious that I didn't even realize it! If I'm worried about my arms, then I'll use my legs. One For All, Full Cowling. Shoot Style! Hatsume did a great job. I call this new supercharged look, Costume Gamma!"

Izuku lands and I smile at him and say, "Thanks, Izuku. You kicking it actually made that a bit easier to do." The Blades of Light I made from the rock fall to the ground with small thuds as my concentration went. Dad looks at Izuku with his mouth opened stunned.

All Might smiles and says, "You did it, kid."

Izuku steps up towards us and says, "You okay, All Might? That was close."

All Might smiles wide and says, "Yeah!"

I hear Dad go 'Hm'.

Kaminari says having seen it, "Dude, Midoriya, what was that? You swooped in and wasted that rock."

Eijiro says, "I always thought you were more of a puncher. And way to go with that Cara you didn't even need Midoriya there." I smirk but I know most are used to me surprising them with different ways even though that was a pretty recent move that I've been working on.

Izuku says, "I am. Or, I was." Izuku shows his shoes and says, "It's these new soles. Hatsume suggested them and I think they'll really up my game. Plus, Iida and Cara's been showing me how to use my body better, so my fighting style has changed. I've only just figured out what direction to go in. I still have a lot of work to do. Nothing I'd call an ultimate move yet." Izuku quickly turns to me and asks, "What was that, though?"

I smirk and say, "Just something new I've been working on. It will help with ruins really when things fall so it doesn't hurt anyone. Not really an ultimate move though."

All Might says looking at Izuku, "I dunno. Based on that kick, I'd say you're further along than you think. Even with Cara's new move. So, you should be ready for this test."

Izuku turns fully towards All Might looking shocked.

Dad walks towards All Might and says, "Hey, All Might. It's dangerous in here, you should be careful."

All Might says holding a hand up, "Yeah, I know." He looks up towards Bakugo and says, "Sorry for the scare, Young Bakugo."

We all look up at him as he stares down at us though I realized his gaze is more on Izuku than anyone else. Bakugo has an angry look and then makes another explosion and says, "You watch yourself, All Might!"

All Might looks at the ground and mutters, "'Watch yourself', huh? I guess it only makes sense. To everyone else, I'm a weakling now. Someone who needs to be protected."

Izuku says with Kaminari and Eijiro, "You guys made improvements to your costumes, too?"

Kaminari gives a thumbs up and says, "Yeah! I see you've noticed we look pretty awesome."

Eijiro does a pose and says, "You're not the only one here with a brand-new style." I look towards Shoto seeing his new gear as well as our other classmates as Eijiro continues, "We've all been making changes here and there. Now's the time to upgrade, right?"

Kaminari says, "Just wait. My new special gear is gonna blow your mind. It's a serious power boost. Wanna see? C'mon. It's totally amazing!"

Vlad King having come in says, "That's enough, Class A."

I quickly turn to them seeing all of Class B and I say, "Hi, Vlad. Hi, Itsuka. Hey, Class B."

Vlad King nods to me and says to the others, "Class B is scheduled to use this training room every afternoon."

Izuku says, "Class B?"

Kaminari says with a look on his face, "Man. Crap timing."

Vlad says, "Eraser, get your kids out of our way."

Dad having turned to him as well says, "You're not trying to kick us out early when we have ten whole minutes left, are you?"

Monoma trying to show off does a pose and says, "Hey, did ya hear? The license exam has a 50 percent pass rate. That means your entire class might fail."

Izuku mutters, "I always forget how much this guy hates us."

Monoma laughs and I crouch down and smack my hand on the concrete pointed towards him and he gets a panicked expression on his face as all the sudden he can't use any of his five senses.

Kaminari says, "Wait. Is that Monoma's hero costume?"

Itsuka says, "Well, since his Quirk is Copy, he said he didn't need anything too eccentric. Just that."

Kaminari says, "This is him toned down?"

Tokoyami says pulling in Dark Shadow, "Unfortunately, his observations are correct." He stands up as he continues, "If we're taking the same exam, then we'll crush each other. That's the hand fate has dealt us."

Dad says, "And why we won't be in the same location. Our classes applied to different spots. Cara, release his senses."

I roll my eyes and release Monoma causing him to go, "Ha! I'm free!"

Vlad says, "There are two exam days. In June and in September. And the tests are held in three different places. We don't want the students from the same place fighting. We split you up. Each school has at most one class at a single location."

Monoma says, "Whew. How sad we won't be able to face each other directly." He starts laughing again.

I say, "Don't make me do that for hours on end, Monoma." To which he gulps but keeps being annoying.

Eijiro says, "Man. This guy's nuts."

Kaminari says, "Yeah, I think he's officially gone off the deep end."

Sero says, "All those other schools. Huh. Interesting. I didn't know that was the case. So we'll be facing kids from other places."

Izuku nods and says, "Yeah. And on top of that, we're taking the test earlier than most other students."

Dad says, "That's true. Very few first years in the country try for a provisional license. In other words, the test will be made up of students who've trained longer than you, and with Quirks you don't know about. Ones that are powerful. The actual content of the exam is a mystery, but you can expect that you're going to have a rough time. Try not to get hung up about that, but keep it in mind."

All the students of 1A say, "Yes, sir!"

We left Gym Gamma because our time was up. It's now night time and we, girls, are sitting in the common area of our dorms. I'm currently sitting on the stool next to Momo, as Tsu, Hagakure, and Ochaco share the couch, and Mina and Jiro are on the loveseat.

Mina groans and says, "Does it have to be this hard?"

Hagakure says, "Well it's not called intensive training for nothing."

Momo says, "That's true. But it's strange to think there's only a week left before the exam."

Hagakure says, "Yao-momo, how's your ultimate move coming?"

Momo hums and says, "There's something I really wanna do, but my body just isn't ready yet. I need time to develop my Quirk and improve my general endurance."

Hagakure turns to me and asks, "And you, Cara?"

I sigh and say, "It's going okay. It's a lot harder to use some Quirks together. I'm really good at using 2 at the same time as of 2 days ago. Now I'm currently working on using 3 at one time."

Hagakure turns to Tsu and says, "How 'bout you, Tsu?"

Tsu says, "I've perfected a move that makes me even more froglike than before. I'm sure even you'd look surprised, Toru."

I nod having seen her work on it.

Hagakure says, "What's your story, Ochaco?"

Ochaco looks lost so Tsu says, "Hey, Ochaco?" and pokes her.

Ochaco yelps blushing and turns to Tsu.

Tsu says, "You seem a little tense."

Ochaco says, "No, it's nothing. Everything's going awesome. I'm just getting started."

We all look at her confused and Mina and Jiro say, "Uh..."

Ochaco says a lot calmer, "At least, that's how I'd usually be."

Mina and Jiro look at each other.

Ochaco continues while blushing, "The thing is, recently my heart's been all stirred up about something."

Mina exclaims, "It's love!" And I get scared and jump backwards landing on the floor with a thud though I quickly sit back down in my seat.

Ochaco goes hysterical saying, "What did you say? Glove? Shove? Dove? Never even seen one - what's that?"

Mina goes close to Ochaco and says, "So, who is it? Midoriya or Iida? You're always hanging out with those two boys. Can't be Todoroki, he's already taken."

Ochaco hids her face in her hands while saying, "You've got it all wrong." Though she ends up activating her Quirk and making herself float. Ochaco continues floating saying, "That's not it, I swear!"

Mina says, "She's floating."

Hagakure says, "Which one? Or someone else? Come on, spill!" I'm suddenly glad I never hung out with the girls talking about boys before.

Jiro says while watching Ochaco, "Yeah, out with it. You know we're not gonna give up until we know."

Ochaco says, "I swear, it's no one! Besides, it's not like I even know anything about dating."

Tsu says looking at Momo, "It's not good to force an investigation."

Momo says, "She's right." Momo stands up and continues, "More importantly, it's late. We should call it a night."

Mina says, "Ugh! No! I wanna hear everything! You can't just spring a hint of romance on us and expect me to go to sleep!"

Ochaco asks, "What romance?" Ochaco gasps and looks out the window and I see Izuku out there practicing Full Cowling and kicks. I look back at Ochaco and I know she is crushing bad on Izuku.

I hear Izuku grunt and then run a little before stopping and muttering, "That's not it. Iida and Cara looked different. Bent their back, I think. They're so flexible. I can see their shape in my head right now. So in order to bring this up to the 'ultimate move level'..."

Ochaco mutters bringing me back to her, "That's not it."

I knocked on Dad's door after all the other girls had gone to bed. I needed to talk to him about the provisional license test since I technically already have one.

I hear Dad's voice come through the door saying, "Come on in, Cara."

I walk in and say, "Dad. I need to ask you something."

Dad looks up from his clipboard and over his shoulder and says, "What is it?"

I sit down on the floor and say, "I was wondering. Since I already have my provisional license. Do I need to take the exam with the others?"

Dad turns his chair around to completely face me and says, "Technically, yes. The difference on yours though is your score won't be the same way as theirs. You remember how when you took it before a certain number passed to the second part?"

I nod and say, "Yeah. And if you don't then you fail. Technically there is at least 2 ways to fail the exam."

Dad says, "Yes. Well it will be similar to that but because you already have your provisional license you won't be included in that number. Basically if you pass the first part and go to the second you won't be taking anyone's spot you'll just continue on. Basically they just are making sure you're skills are still there so you can keep your license."

I nod and say, "Okay that makes sense. Thank you." I left his room and went to my own and to bed.

Before we even knew it, the day of the exam was here. We had just gotten off the bus and were standing in front of it with me holding Shoto's hand. Last night had been a particularly bad night of nightmares and because of it being the day before a big exam Dad had had me stay with him the whole night so Shoto could rest well so Dad ended up looking more haggard than normal. Luckily it was just nights that I had to be with Shoto or Dad thankfully I got better on my own after 2 days of being in the dorms.

Jiro says, "Ugh...I'm getting kind of nervous."

Mineta says rocking back and forth, "I wonder what they're gonna make us do. Ugh. What if I can't get my license?"

Dad having bent over to Mineta's level says, "Mineta," scaring him. Dad continues, "Don't ask if you can. Say you will."

Mineta says, "Right. Sure. I've so got this!"

Dad stands back up and says to us, "If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will hatch into chicks. You'll be semi-pros, like Cara here. I expect your best."

Kaminari says, "All right. I can't wait to be a heroic chicken."

I turn my gaze seeing others coming.

Eijiro says, "Let's call out the usual, you guys. On my mark. Go Plus...Ultra!"

At the same time Eijiro yelled 'Ultra' a guy I remember tying with in first place at the Recommendation Test also yells, "Ultra!"

I see Shoto look towards him interested too.

Another person in his uniform says, "You know it's pretty rude to barge into other people's huddles like that, Inasa."

Inasa says, "What? Pardon me. I am so...very...extremely...sorry!"

Izuku yelps having seen the guy smack his head into the concrete in a bow.

Kaminari asks, "Who is this guy? I do not trust his enthusiasm."

Dad looks shocked and mutters, "It's him."

Jiro says, "Hey, look at their uniforms."

Sero says, "They're from that famous school on the other side of Japan."

Bakugo says quietly, "UA in the East. Shiketsu in the West."

Izuku mutters, "Of all the hero courses out there, the one at this elite school actually rivals UA's. Shiketsu High!"

Inasa says standing up, "I wanted to say it just once. Plus Ultra! See, I really love UA High School. I am extremely honored to compete against such incredible students. I'm so looking forward to it."

The girl says, "Oh. Blood."

The purple haired guy, Shishikura, says as he walks away, "Let's go."

Dad says, "Inasa Yoarashi."

Hagakure asks, "Do you know that guy, Mr. Aizawa?"

Dad says, "Indeed. As does Cara. He's strong."

The students all gasp.

Dad says, "He's the same year as you all and received the top scores for students admitted through recommendations with Cara. But for some unknown reason, he turned down his acceptance to UA and went to Shiketsu."

Izuku steps up and says, "Wait. He's...our age?" He turns to Shoto and Momo and mutters to himself, "If he had the top scores for those with recommendations with Cara, then, he must be even better than Todoroki! Inasa Yoarashi, from Shiketsu High School."

I was honestly nervous about Inasa Yoarashi being in the same test as us especially knowing that Shoto sees him as a rival so this could prove to make the test difficult for him and I wanted him to pass as well as the rest of our class but I had a funny feeling with him being here too that Shoto may not if they have to work together at some point.
