The sounds of her phone buzzing annoyingly across the small table beside her bed rouses the blonde from what had been for once a rather restful sleep. Though most of that peace might have been because of the warm weight of the arm hugged greedily across her stomach from behind.
"'s the weekend. No class." Her bedmate mumbled against the back of Kara's neck as the blonde reached awkwardly for her still buzzing cell phone.
"I know but it could still be important." Kara reasoned also thinking to pick up her glasses as she squinted at the caller id.
"more than me?"
Kara gives a low chuckle at that turning her head just enough to catch the pouting lips waiting for her. Even harder to ignore was the sulking look in those sleepy, yet compelling emerald-colored eyes framed by messy dark hair "I wouldn't say that LeeLee." She soothes pressing another light peppering of kisses against her girlfriend's already kiss-swollen lips. "but it's Lin's number." She says as she accepted the call.
Lena groans into their shared pillow but sits up with a small hiss of already dulling pain considering the couple's earlier activities when they'd found they had the room to themselves tonight and starts blindly collecting both her own and Kara's scattered clothes as the sisters talk.
Well, Kara talks. Linda more like shouts over the loud noise Lena guessed was meant to be music on the other side of the phone line.
"Oh no." was all Lena needed to pause in her attempt to fish a bra either her own or Kara's she didn't know out from under the room's second bed to look back at her upset girlfriend.
"Kar?" she asks not caring she was more than half dressed as she returned to the edge of what was currently Kara's side of the shared room.
"Kelly broke up with her." Was all Kara had to say in explanation to the shadowed outline of the probing glare Lena was giving her.
"Oh, Rao." Lena whispered in sympathy.
The split shouldn't have been much of a surprise considering the bickering they two had been doing these last few weeks, but Lena hadn't thought Kelly would have actually gone through with it until maybe after the upcoming holiday break. Even if Kelly had been more than toying with the idea of transferring to a different school completely in the upcoming semester.
"Poor Alex." Lena sighed now standing between her girlfriend's parted knees as she gingerly starts redressing the still listening blonde. So, what if that help included more than a few distracting kisses along the inside of her girlfriend's once again parted legs as after she'd given a fresh pair of her own underwear Lena works on sliding a pair of Kara's basketball shorts back around the blonde's toned hips considering helping Kara back into actual pants would take longer and it seemed they were already on a tight time crunch.
"Wait like seriously?" Kara asks suddenly now holding her phone in an even more awkward position as Lena attempted to pull a sweatshirt over the reporting major's head.
At this Lena pauses intrigued "baby speaker phone." She demands abandoning her attempt to help Kara dress and instead starts dressing herself in the darkness of her shared dorm room.
Considering Kelly's now permanent departure meant that soon Lena would be getting a new roommate meant that in the interim the raven haired undetermined major and her journalism determined girlfriend were taking as much advantage of having the room to themselves as they dared
"Yeah. Apparently, Alex thought she'd cheer herself up by breaking into the local zoo to play with the otters." Linda informs. "Even tried to steal one but I'm doubting the validity of that statement."
Linda's boyfriend's answering "Why would I lie about something that adorable?" overlaps with Kara's own "Mom's gonna kill us." Groan as the blonde runs a hand through her already messy hair.
"Yeah, no joke." Linda agreed with a board "baby can't you see I'm on the phone." Towards Winn but even Lena can hear the more playful edge of the sighed grumble.
"Wait if you two are together then where the hell is Alex?" Kara demands
"With her new new girlfriend." Winn offers "at least that's what she keeps giggling but between the well, I'm guessing is the four of us I like this one more than Kelly. And I've only known her like an hour."
Kara's answering "Seriously?" interrupted with a teasing "Aww well thanks Schott, I like you too." From a voice neither Kara nor Lena easily recognized.
"But I thought you liked me." Alex's hurt tone cuts in a half beat later.
"I do like you Danvers, but in a different way." The new voice was already calming. "Even if you still won't tell me just how you managed to break into my zoo"
"What can I say, I got cool skills." Alex giggled.
"Well go back a bit it's not technically your zoo Sawyer, you're just the night guard." Winn argues
"a really, really, really pretty night guard." Alex sighs over the pumping beat of the next song playing in the background.
"Aaww thanks, Danvers. I think your pretty too." The voice Kara and Lena now knew to belong to a woman called Sawyer compliments before firing back at Winn with a cool "do you not remember the part where I totally saved your butts covering for not just Alex but you and Linda too?"
"Ssshhh." Alex jumps in once more before what Kara and Lena can only guess was another round of bickering between the other two women started up "everyone shushes or you'll wake up the baby." She hissed
"Alright, Kar, Lena, I'll text you our address then maybe together we can all wrangle 'Otter Mama' here." Winn decides
"Why Sawyer seems to be handling the job fairly well." Linda comments
"Yeah, and we can meet Alex's newest lady love." Lena jokes
"She's mine." Alex growled "mine, mine, mine." She chants her voice growing louder on each repeated word.
"Alex sweetie, remember the baby." Maggie offers. "We don't want to wake her, do we?" she coos playing along once more to what Kara and Lena guessed was one of Alex's more buzzed fantasies.
"See you soon." Kara sighs once more running a hand through her hair.
"Yeah, we better. I'm not dealing with this on my own." Linda sighs more tired than truly upset by the possibility.
"Let me guess we're taking L's motorcycle?" Lena questions meeting her girlfriend's hooded gaze over her shoulder as Kara's arms wrap around her middle drawing her back against her ace's solid body.
"Bet your sexy ass we are." Kara grinned pressing a not-so-innocent kiss against the dip of Lena's shoulder before she released her. "Last one down rides…." She started to challenge but Lena was already snatching up the spare key Kara carried and was halfway out the door before Kara had finished.
"Cheater." The blonde calls hurrying after her giggling girlfriend.
