Coco: Hey, guys, I'm back. How are ya? I know it's a pretty fast post, but don't get used to it...I don't have a set posting schedule and usually just post whatever has my interest the most at the moment XD I know that's terrible, but it's just how I've always worked.
Anyway, I hope you're liking the story so far. Don't be shy to tell me what you think about it, in a review or even message me. Would love to hear from you~
The sun shined brightly overhead; its harsh rays burning mercilessly down on everything and anything below it. Many had been smart to remain indoors on such a scorching summer's day, but not everyone had the same idea.
"But, Master, it's so hot," Sephie whined as she and Britzany trudged after the tall man. "Can't we train after the sun goes down?"
Zann sighed looking over his shoulder at his two little students as they struggled to keep up with his brisk pace. He came to a stop while turning around completely, so to crouch in front of them.
"You two are never going to amount to anything if you let a little heat slow you down," he told them. "I thought you two wanted to become Hunters."
He poked them both harshly in the forehead as he spoke, which brought a whine from both of them.
"We do!" Sephie said.
"Then stop complaining and come on," he said as he suddenly picked the two of them up to tuck them underneath his arms. "We have plenty of training to get to. At this rate you won't become Hunters at all."
"Master!" They both cried indignantly.
They struggled against his hold, but in vain as he easily kept them in his grip. He laughed at their feeble attempts. Sephie gave up first with a huff as she crossed her arms over her chest in annoyance. She ignored the fuss Britzany was still kicking up on the other side of Zann, who also ignored the darker skinned girl's shouting, as Sephie looked up at the man.
Sephie frowned and jutted out her chin a tad definitely as she reached up to grab the front of Zann's shirt. He looked at the tiny girl curiously as she gave a tug and then another until she pulled herself free. Though instead of dropping to the ground like he assumed she would, Sephie climbed higher until she was sitting on the man's shoulder while wrapping her arms around the top of his head.
"Master, you really believe in us, don't you?" Sephie asked. "That we can become Hunters?"
Zann blinked up at the young girl as she stared back at him with large eyes that wanted him to speak the truth. Zann chuckled reaching up to ruffle the girl's hair before settling on holding onto her knees so she wouldn't fall off of his shoulder.
"Of course, I do." Zann said as he looked back forward. "You two can be whatever you want to be, Sephie. Never forget that or let anyone tell you differently."
Sephie seemed surprised at first by his reply, but then a happy flush spread across her cheeks as she smiled.
"Sephie, hey, Sephie!"
Sephie groaned with her eyes opened slowly. Though they flinched shut again rather quickly at the blinding light of the sun invading her gaze. She tried opening them again though with her hand up to give her some protection. She blinked seeing Gon leaning over her sitting form with a large smile on his face.
"We're here," The boy said when seeing she was awake. "It's time to get off the ship."
Sephie hummed in reply before she stood up after the boy offered her his hand, which she took. She stretched out her limbs before grabbing her bag to sling over her shoulder.
"Finally," Sephie said as she stepped up onto the railing of the ship. "I'm ready to be on some solid ground."
She then jumped off the railing of the ship before landing below on the docks where Leorio, Kurapika, and Britzany were already waiting a yard or two away. Gon, who decided her way of disembarking looked more fun than taking the gangplank, laughed while following right after her. The captain chuckled at the pair of them as he walked over. Gon's smile widened when seeing the old man approach them.
"Thanks a lot, Captain," Gon thanked the man while shaking his hand. "That was really fun."
Sephie shook the captain's hand as well when he extended it with the gruff captain grinning at the pair of them.
"I gotta admit I had a pretty good time myself." The captain said. "Oh yeah, let me give you a bit of advice as a small token of my appreciation."
Sephie and Gon both tilted their heads curiously while wondering what the captain wanted to tell them.
"Advice, sir?" Gon asked.
The captain nodded before pointing off to the side of them. Gon and Sephie followed the direction his finger was pointing to see a large tree far off into the distance.
"Look," He said. "Ya see that big cedar tree? The one on the top of the hill?"
"Yeah," Sephie said.
"You'll want to make your way there first." The captain told them. "It's a shortcut to the exam site."
"A shortcut?" Gon repeated a tad too loudly. "Great! So, just head for that tree, huh? Thanks for the tip, Captain! You're the best!"
Sephie shook her head at the kid since he should be careful with how loud he's being. He could attract unwanted attention. Sephie's gaze cut over to some boxes not far behind the captain. In fact, he already has.
"Good luck to ya both." The captain said with a wink.
Sephie thanked the man before following after Gon who was sprinting away excitedly. Though the boy did make sure to give one more call of gratitude to the captain before he left. Sephie snorted at the boy's energy as she followed him over to where their three companions waited. Britzany and Leorio were looking over a paper the latter was holding when they approached, but when the two shortest of their group reached them, they looked up.
"There you two are," Britzany said then grinned. "Have trouble getting her to wake up, Gon? She can be quite the heavy sleepier."
Sephie rolled her eyes at the taller brunette before she let out a yawn. She was still feeling a bit tired. Even after that nap she took.
"No, she woke up without a problem." Gon said with a shake of his head. "The captain just wanted to speak with us. He mentioned a shortcut."
His words brought intrigued looks from the taller teens in front of them as they leaned forward slightly.
"Shortcut?" They all said in unison.
Gon nodded his head before telling them about the giant cedar tree that the captain had mentioned. He even pointed it out to them.
"So, we need to head to that tree, huh," Britzany said. "It must be some kind of important landmark or something for this town."
"Why do you say that?" Kurapika asked curiously.
"They have it on their map." Britzany said as she gestured over her shoulder with her thumb to the large map behind them.
The group gathered around said map to see what path they needed to take to try and reach the cedar tree.
"Huh, that's weird." Leorio said gaining the group's attention.
"What is?" Gon asked.
"Well, uh, according to this notice I received, the exam is supposed to be held somewhere in Zaban City, you see," Leorio said while showing Kurapika, Gon, ad Sephie the paper he and Britzany had been looking at earlier. "Now we're here. That tree is there, which is the opposite direction of Zaban."
Sephie crossed her arms over her chest. The notice didn't seem to give much information, and she had a feeling the captain didn't lie to them. He was a pretty honest man. He even told them that he was applicant screener pretty straightforwardly.
"Could you two have misheard the captain?" Kurapika asked Gon and Sephie.
"No, I heard him clearly/I don't think so." Sephie and Gon replied in unison.
"He told us we should go towards that cedar tree." Gon added.
He pointed to the one on the map, and Kurapika hummed as he cupped his chin in a thoughtful manner.
"Well, I think we should follow the captain's instructions," Britzany threw in her two cents. "That notice doesn't give much information after all."
"You do have a point." Leorio commented. "It isn't any help at all. It says the exam is in Zaban, but it doesn't say where exactly."
"Our task is to find the site using only limited information," Kurapika said. "This is another test to determine if we're worthy of the exam."
As Leorio popped off that he already knew that, Gon adjusted the straps to his bag.
"I think I'll check it our for myself." Gon said as he started walking away. "Find out what the captain was talking about."
Leorio looked at the boy in disbelief as Britzany and Sephie exchanged a glance.
"Whoa, whoa, are you serious?" Leorio asked then pointed at the bus behind him. "The bus to Zaban is going to leave at any second. We need to be on it when it does."
Gon didn't seem to worried about missing the bus as he just waved at the group of four and kept going. Leorio tried to call after him again, but Gon just kept going. Leorio gave a sigh.
"Gees, that kid's too trusting for his own good," Leorio said. "Can't just trust everyone all the time."
"I didn't sense any deceit in the captian's words." Sephie spoke up. "So, I going to go along with Gon to the cedar tree."
Leorio looked at the petite woman in disbelief as she jogged off to catch up with Gon. The boy turned his head when hearing her approach and smiled when he saw that she was joining him.
"She can't be serious," Leorio said.
"Sephie has a pretty good sense when it comes to reading people," Britzany said with a chuckle. "It's kind of scary how accurate she is. So, if she says she believes in the captain's words, well, I trust her. So, see ya around."
She was then gone herself with Leorio not believing them. He looked to Kurapika thinking the blonde would at least be on his side, but to his utter surprise Kurapika was already following after Gon and the girls.
"Kurapika, come back!" Leorio called out to the boy.
"I'm intrigued by the captain's advice," Kurapika said as he kept walking. "Even more so by Gon's behavior. I'm curious to see what he'll do."
As Kurapika fell into step with Britzany, Leorio groaned as he tucked away the notice he had gotten into his pocket.
"Alright, whatever, see ya," Leorio said as went in the direction of the bus. "It wasn't long, but it was nice knowing ya."
Sephie looked after her shoulder as the tall brunette was walking farther away from them. She was a bit disappointed to be honest. She was hoping he'd come along. She's been having fun with these guys, and she didn't want their time together to end so shortly.
"Don't look so worried," Kurapika said when seeing her look. "I'm sure he'll be along shortly."
"You really think so?" Sephie asked.
Kurapika didn't even have time to answer before Leorio's shouting reached their ears. The group looked and watched as the tall man hurried in their direction while asking them to wait up. As he hurried to them, Sephie and Kurapika's eyes met. Sephie ended up smiling and letting out a small laugh when seeing Kurapika had been completely right. Her laughter had Kurapika's own amused smile turning up slightly.
Britzany frowned feeling bored the longer they walked. She knew it might take a while to get to the cedar tree, but the quiet was killing her. Britzany then glanced at Sephie as the shorter girl was sketching away and not even bothering to look where she was going. Britzany glanced over Sephie's shoulder to see the girl was working on a sketch of their traveling companions. She was drawing headshots of them, and Britzany almost snorted that the sketch of Leorio was set in a peeved off expression.
Sephie has been drawing since they were kids. She said it was her way of committing everything she sees to memory. People she finds interesting, things that catch her attention, and scenery she finds beautiful. Sephie said before they left Azalea that she wanted to capture as much of their journey as possible in her drawings. Everything she deemed special or anything she takes a liking to. And it would seem the boys have fallen into one of those categories or both.
"Man, this is one creepy place," Leorio broke the silence as they walked through a small town. "There isn't a single soul in sight."
"No, there's a bunch of people here." Gon said surprising the older teen.
"I wonder when they're going to reveal themselves," Sephie said as she gave a very pointed look over her shoulder.
Britzany glanced behind her as well as a figure quickly hid themselves behind the corner of a building. That guy has been following them for sometime now. He hasn't made a move or anything, but Britzany doubted that his intentions were good. Though it would seem as if that guy would have to wait as the doors beside them opened to reveal the other people they had been sensing.
Kurapika and Leorio got into slightly defensive stances, but Britzany didn't sense any ill-will in these people's auras, so she remained relaxed. As did Sephie who was closing her sketchbook. The girls watched these people wheel out small stage of some kind that had more people—including a small old woman—on it. All the people with the old woman wore white robes and masks, so it made it impossible to tell just who they were.
"What's up with these guys?" Leorio asked sounding a bit nervous.
"…exciting…" The old woman murmured.
"…'exciting'…?" Leorio and Britzany repeated.
Britzany's brow quirked wondering what this woman was planning. With how things were set up, it almost looked like some sort of gameshow or something.
"Exciting." The old woman said once more.
"What's exciting?" Britzany asked as she looked to Sephie.
The shorter girl shrugged her shoulders having no idea. Behind them Leorio gulped as his nerves started to flare.
"Time for the exciting multiple-choice quiz!" The woman suddenly shouted.
The people behind her started playing their instruments at her declaration as teens flinched back in surprise with their eyes widening. Britzany blinked not sure how to respond, but it didn't seem as if they needed to right away as the woman spoke up once again.
"Let me guess," she said. "You kids are headed for the cedar on the hill, aren't you? There's only one way to get there. You'll have to pass through this town first. You must pass a quiz comprised of a single question."
"Wait a second!" Leorio exclaimed. "What is going on here?"
"You'll have five seconds to answer the question." The woman continued as if he hadn't spoken. "If you're correct, then you can move on. If not, you're disqualified from this year's exam."
Britzany frowned since she hated quizzes of any kind. They always made her so nervous. Sephie wasn't fond of them either, but if that's what it took to get by, guess they didn't have a choice.
"Ah, I see." Kurapika said. "It's another trial we have to pass before taking the exam."
"So, that's it, huh?" Leorio asked with a smirk as he sat down his case. "Lucky I'm an expert in quizzes…Wait, one question?!"
Britzany looked up at the brunette wondering what the problem was. He did just say he's an expert in taking quizzes, and in her opinion the less questions she has to answer the better.
"Your answer must be either the number one or two." The old woman explained as she raised up her fingers. "Any answer that is not the number one or number two will be deemed incorrect."
"Hold on! All five of us have to share the same question?" Leorio asked. "So, if Kurapika here gets it wrong, it means I get disqualified, too?"
The blonde frowned at the older teen before turning away with his arms crossed over his chest. To the side, Britzany, Gon, and Sephie watched while knowing this was just going to turn into an argument.
"Not very likely." Kurapika said. "Although if the roles were reversed, it would be all but inevitable."
He shook his head as he spoke while uncrossing his arms. Leorio growled at the blonde in annoyance.
"You wanna repeat that?" Leorio practically hissed.
Kurapika just gave the older man deadpanned expression, which seemed to annoy Leorio even more.
"It's okay!" Gon cut in before their fight could escalate. "Even if only one of us knows the answer, all five of us get to move on…hehe, and I'm real bad at quizzes."
"If that is the case, we're fine." Sephie spoke up. "However, she didn't say we would all get the same question or that we'd all move on or fail if some of us guess right or some of us guess wrong."
Kurapika hummed thoughtfully because that was true. The old woman didn't say they'd all be judged the same way.
"Hey, hey," Their stalker, who finally made himself known, said as he walked forward. "Hurry it up, or I might answer it before the rest of you get a chance."
Sephie rolled her eyes at the man as Britzany crossed her arms over his chest. This guy had a lot of nerve to be following them around like a creep and then telling them to hurry up.
"Who the heck are you?" Leorio asked the man.
"You don't know?" Gon asked sounding surprised. "He's been following us pretty closely ever since we left the port."
"He was eavesdropping on our conversation with the captain and has been stalking us ever since." Sephie added.
Gon nodded his head in confirmation as Britzany was a bit surprised the boy noticed. He didn't have a way to sense auras like they did, but he still managed to tell they were being followed. He was a resourceful kid.
"Really?" Leorio asked.
"Yeah, sorry, kiddies," The man said causing Sephie's brow to twitch. "Didn't mean to eavesdrop but I couldn't help but hear you three talking."
"Creep," Sephie scoffed.
Britzany let out a snort of amusement as the man gave Sephie a dirty look. One she replied to with a glare of her own.
"What will you do?" The old woman cut into their conversation.
Not taking long to decide, the group of five—at Leorio's suggestion—stepped back to let their stalker go first. He stepped up while two of the masked people walked forward to place a podium with a button on it in front of the man.
"Let's get to it then," The man said with a smirk.
"Now, here is your question," The old woman began with one of the people behind her tooting a horn while the other's pet crow let out a caw. "A group of evil villains have kidnapped your mother and your true love and you can only save one of them. Choose one for your mother or two for your true love. Which do you save and which do you let die?"
As the boys stiffened in surprise at the question, Britzany let out a low whistle. This old woman wasn't holding any punches. Though she supposed that was to be expected. This was a test to get them to the next leg of their journey towards becoming Hunters.
"Hey, what kind of quiz is this?!" Leorio demanded.
It would seem their stalker knew what to do as he pressed the button without hesitation causing it to ding.
"The answer's number one." He said confidently.
"Oh? And what's your reasoning?" The woman asked him to elaborate.
"It's your mom," he said. "It's not like you can replace your mom. But a lover, you can always find another one."
As Leorio and Kurapika looked at the man in complete disbelief because of his answer, Sephie snorted.
"Well, I see someone who is probably going to end up dying sad and alone," She whispered to Britzany not too quietly.
In fact, the man's whipped around to glare at the petite girl, who paid him no mind, after he heard her.
"And probably still a virgin." Britzany added. "I mean, I know I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole."
Sephie nodded in agreement as the man's face turned an angry, blotchy red color. Kurapika hushed the two as Gon was looking between them with innocent, child-like curiosity and confusion. As the man continued to seethe at the two, the old woman told him he could pass, which calmed his nerves enough to bring a smirk to his face. Leorio just gasped in shock not believing the old woman was going to accept that answer.
"Looks like the trick is telling the old lady whatever she wants to hear," The man said with a chuckle. "Adios!"
He then jogged off to put as much distance between him and the group behind him as fast as possible.
"Hang on!" Leorio snapped. "What kind of crap is that? There's no way that was the right answer! We're just supposed to say what we think she wants to hear? What's up with that? Say something!"
The only reply he received was the crow cawing, which had him grumble in anger.
"Ugh, okay," he said. "I've had just about enough of this. I'm gonna find my own way!"
He turned to leave after grabbing his suitcase, but the old woman calling out brought him to a pause.
"It's too late for that," she informed him. "Refuse to take the quiz if you wish, but know you'll be disqualified."
"Grr, that's nuts!" Leorio exclaimed as he swiped his fist to the side. "Different people would answer that in different ways! There's no right answer for that question and never has been!"
Kurapika gasped from beside Britzany, which had her giving the boy a curious look.
"There is no right answer? I see." He murmured before quickly turning to look at Leorio. "Leorio—!"
"That's enough!" The old woman cut in. "I don't want to hear another word out of you. Say anything but your answer and you're disqualified."
'This woman is just making up rules as she goes,' Britzany mentally snorted. '…Gees, this whole thing is just annoying…'
Her stomach growled as she was thinking, and she frowned while placing her hand over it.
'When's the last time I ate?' She asked herself. 'I could really go for something sweet right now…'
As she was thinking about the sweet roll that she lost to Sephie earlier, the old woman continued to speak.
"And now here is your question," the old woman said. "You learn both your son and your daughter have been kidnapped. You will only be able to rescue one of them. Choose one for son and two for daughter. Which of these two will you save?"
None of the five answer the woman once the words left her mouth. They didn't even move up to the podium. Leorio did move over to the building beside them, however, to pick up a forgotten stick. He swung it out in front of him in anger as the old woman started counting them down. As he was doing that, Kurapika watched his companions closely. Gon looked as if he was in serious thought as was Britzany. Sephie was merely looking off to the side in a bored manner before giving a yawn.
"Time is up!" The old woman declared after making a buzzer noise.
As soon as the words left her mouth, Leorio let out a shout while jumping forward. He was bringing down the stick towards the old woman, but suddenly the stick was out of his hand and replaced with a towel about the same length of his chosen weapon. He gasped in surprise as did Kurapika who had moved in to stop him.
"What the hell?" He asked.
"You really need to chill, pal." Britzany said.
The two boys looked to the girl, who was suddenly sitting up on a ledge near someone's laundry, as she was twirling around the stick Leorio had been holding previously in between her fingers. Forgetting about wondering how Britzany managed to the swap the stick and towel, Leorio growled.
"No, this old hag needs to be taught a lesson and I'm gonna make sure she gets it!" Leorio said.
He went to march forward to continue with the beating he planned, but he was held back by Kurapika.
"Would you please calm down?!" Kurapika demanded.
"How the hell do you expect me to?!" Leorio shot back.
"We got it right!" Kurapika retorted. "Do you really wanna jeopardize that?!"
Leorio stepped back in surprise as Britzany jumped back down to rejoin Sephie and Gon. Honesty…she was kind of surprised too. She was so caught up in thinking about food…well, she forgot to answer.
"We've already given the correct response." Kurapika explained. "Silence. Any other answer would have been correct."
"What do you mean, 'silence?'" Leorio asked since he still didn't get it.
"Just that," Kurapika said simply. "You said it yourself remember? You were right. There was no correct answer to our question. However, we had to say 'one' or 'two' as a response. And so, our only choice was to respond with silence."
Britzany guessed that meant they were lucky since none of them had answered. She looked to Sephie wondering if the shorter girl figured it out as Kurapika had or just didn't want to choose an answer.
"What about that guy?" Leorio asked pointing. "He made it through."
"She never told him he was correct." Kurapika pointed out. "All she said was, 'you may pass.' Which means this isn't the path to the Hunter Exam, right?"
He pointed towards the path the old woman had told that man to follow. The old woman nodded her head.
"Hmm, that is correct," she said as she stood up and started walking off the stage. "The real path is right over here."
Two of her assistances opened the door they had all came through to reveal a long, dark corridor with a light at the end.
"Follow this path for two hours and you will reach the lone cedar tree." The old woman told them.
"…okay, I was not expecting this…" Leorio said.
"Me neither," Britzany said as she leaned around Leorio to get a look at the tunnel herself.
"You mean, you hadn't figured it out like Kurapika?" Leorio looked to the girl. "Why did you remain silent then?"
Britzany's expression turned sheepish as she let out a nervous chuckle while scratching the back of her head. Her reaction to Leorio's question had both him and Kurapika giving her confused stares.
"The idiot was probably thinking about her stomach." Sephie said bluntly as she walked forward.
Britzany flinched as if she had been struck, which told the boys without a doubt that Sephie hit the nail on the head. Both boys sweat-dropped at this information as Britzany whirled around to look at Sephie.
"Oh yeah, well, what about you, huh?" She asked Sephie. "Did you have it all figured out, smarty pants? Or were you just being stubborn and refusing to answer the old woman's question because you didn't like it?"
"Hmm, wouldn't you like to know?" Sephie replied cryptically.
Britzany growled looking ready to ring Sephie's neck if that meant getting the girl to fess up. She never got the chance though as the old woman interrupted.
"There is a couple who live in a small cabin under that tree who will serve as navigators on your journey." The old woman told them. "They will guide you to the exam site, if you live up to their expectations, that is."
Britzany grinned because that meant they were closer to reaching the exam and she was so ready for it. Leorio went to apologize to the old woman as Sephie moved back to where Gon was still standing.
"Hey," she said poking the boy's shoulder. "You okay there?"
The boy frowned slightly with his expression remaining troubled. He then groaned while falling back on his butt, which gained everyone else's attention.
"I'm stuck." He said as Sephie crouched down next to him. "I can't figure out the right answer."
Leorio, Kurapika, and Britzany chuckled at the boy while almost not believing he was still concerning himself with the quiz.
"You've really been thinking of an answer this whole time?" Leorio asked. "You can stop now."
"Huh, but why?" Gon asked.
"Because the quiz is already over," Kurapika replied.
Gon still didn't seem satisfied as he sat forward and placed his hands in his lap.
"I know that…but what if…you know?" Gon tried to form the question. "Well, what if that really happens to me someday? If two people are in trouble and I can only help one of them? Then what? It wouldn't be right to pick one over the other. But like it or not, that's a choice I might have to make. I just hope that I know what to do."
Kurapika and Leorio looked at the boy sympathetically when seeing his troubled expression. Gon then looked to Sephie as she placed her hand on top his head.
"It's not something you can prepare for, Gon." Sephie said. "It's definitely a possibility that you'll have to face such a choice in the future. Especially as Hunter, but until that moment comes, you should leave such thoughts for another time."
"Yeah," Britzany agreed as she placed her hands on her knees and leaned over to get closer to Gon's eye level. "Now, come on, sitting there isn't going to get you anywhere."
She held out her hand to the boy, and Gon took it while letting Britzany pull him up. She ushered him along after the other boys as they were already heading down the tunnel. Britzany brought up the rear of the group as Sephie fell into step with Gon who lost a bit of his troubled expression.
'If we get the approval of these navigators, we should finally be able to reach the exam site.' Britzany thought. 'And we will pass it…I can promise you that, Master.'
—FLASHBACK—
Britzany stood next to Sephie trying to hold back her tears as they were seeing Zann off. The man couldn't handle being settled down in one spot any longer, and was finally leaving Azalea Town after calling it home for the last four years. The girls weren't happy about it, of course, but it wasn't as if they could stop him.
"Aw, come on, don't look like that, you two." He said as he crouched down in front of them. "You both knew this day was coming."
Britzany nodded her head. She knew he wouldn't stay here forever, but she still wasn't ready to say goodbye. Beside her, Sephie crossed her arms over her chest and looked away from their master with a huff. He sighed when seeing her upset expression. Britzany looked at Sephie too knowing the girl was trying to act tough like she didn't care, but Britzany knew it was just an act. The slightly younger girl had practically cried herself to sleep last night over Zann preparing to leave.
"This isn't goodbye," Zann reminded them as he placed his hands on top their hands. "It's a 'until we see each other next', remember? You two are going to find me once you become amazing Hunters and I'll be waiting for you until them…just like we promised."
"But Sister Marih said we can't take the exam until we're eighteen," Britzany protested. "That's six years away."
"It could fifty years from now and I'd still be waiting," Zann assured the girls. "No matter how long it takes, I'll be waiting for the day you two reach your dreams and find me, got it?"
Britzany looked down as the tears started to slip, but she did nod her head in understanding.
"Good," Zann said as he stood up straight. "Now, you two try to behave while I'm gone. I won't hear the end of it if you two cause any more grief for the poor townspeople."
Sephie rolled her eyes at the mention of the townspeople as Britzany gave a sheepish chuckle. Both girls then gasped when Zann scooped them up to give them one final big hug.
"I'm actually going to miss you, you troublemakers." He said. "Make me proud, okay?"
He sat them down before they could react, and then he was gone. Walking away from them as the two girls moved closer to each other and clasped their hands together.
"We'll see him again soon." Britzany assured Sephie. "You'll see. The next six years are going to fly by."
—END OF FLASHBACK—
'Not much longer now,' Britzany thought as she followed the others. 'We'll be seeing you soon…'
