Hogwarts Again - A New Generation

Chapter 5 - Ottery St. Catchpole

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER.

Dudley had asked Harry to be his best man and Harry had agreed gladly. Invitations had been sent to Dudley's and Violet's friends, and, to his parents' surprise, Harry's friends - Ron and Hermione. They had interacted quite a few times. They had seemed cold at first, but after realising that Dudley really had changed, they were quite friendly. They were great.

When Violet walked up the aisle, he was so overwhelmed by love and happiness that he spaced out for quite a time. After that, things seemed a blur of happiness, anticipation and anxiety, with small gaps in which he seemed to know what had happened.

Looking back, he could remember saying 'I do' and hearing Violet say the same. Then, he found himself dancing with her to a lilting melody. Then, after another blur, he found himself in a car, travelling to their new home.

They had had a conversation earlier.

"Would you like to live in a wizarding village," Violet had asked. "Not all wizards, there are Muggles too. I thought you would like the change. Everything's exciting there. Well, what do you say?"

He had agreed. If he was honest with himself, he was forced to admit that he had been wondering how wizards lived for at least five months. So, now, they were heading to Ottery St. Catchpole, a wizarding village, on the outskirts of the village in which Harry's friend, Ron, lived.

They had decided to skip their honeymoon as they felt that this was exciting enough. What Dudley meant by 'this' was being a Muggle but still meeting wizards and witches, living in their midst, learning how to live in the wizarding world.

When Dudley and Violet arrived at their home, which was called 'Ivy End', they saw that the furniture had already been arranged in its place. Violet went straight to the kitchen to make some tea, as it had been a long journey. After drinking the tea and having supper, they took their time seeing their wedding photos. After that, they went to bed, feeling exhausted after their Big Day.

The next week, they took to visiting their neighbors, Muggles and otherwise, and getting to know them. Dudley found most of them very friendly, though two or three wizarding families seemed a bit cold towards him. Violet later explained that they were Purebloods and did not much like it that some Muggles knew their secret. Otherwise, they were nice neighbors.

Others visited Ivy End too, and Dudley enjoyed the company. Harry too visited bringing the news that Ginny was pregnant, and they had a pleasant chat about various things.

"Things are going well," said Harry. "After all the damage Voldemort and his Death Eaters did to places and families, it's been very hard to put it all back to the way it has been for many years, and we still haven't managed it all. Dementors are still on the loose among Muggles and Lee's been helping a great deal, too. He shuts down his tea shop very often now. He's even talking of closing it down and helping George with the joke shop."

"I heard that Kingsley Shacklebolt is still Minister," said Violet. "I thought he was only temporary?"

"Well, he was," said Harry. "But everyone voted for him to become Minister anyway. And, thankfully, he accepted. He's got everything under control. He's managing everything extremely well." (A/N: There is no play in Ba Sing Se. Hermione was not minister.)

And so, the conversation had gone. After an hour or so, Harry left to take care of his wife.

Dudley and Violet lived happily, with an occasional quarrel or two. They explored the house from top to bottom, which was very interesting, as there were at least five secret passages that the last wizarding owners had constructed.

There was a small space that showed itself when you pushed the back of a certain cabinet in a room full of cabinets. Then, they had found an old mirror that told you, yes it talked (Violet had assured Dudley that it was quite safe), whatever you wanted to know about the house's history.

But the most exciting one yet was a secret passage that connected two wizarding houses, which Violet discovered while cleaning out a seemingly ancient box. When she pointed her wand at it and said 'Tergeo' to clean it, the box swelled so that a human could go inside it. When Dudley jumped into it, he landed about a yard below ground level, and saw a passage winding. He had decided, however, not to explore it, as he had a letter to write.

Now, it was five months since they had moved to Ivy End. One day, he saw a small parcel in his room and Violet's, moderately wrapped. Surprised, he opened it. There was a picture of him and something written by hand across his chest. He gasped when he read it. For there, clearly in Violet's handwriting, were written the words 'I know you'll be the best Dad anyone can have'.

It was such a sudden and happy moment that tears came to his eyes. There was a sudden shimmer in the air and Violet appeared next to him like she had just quit being a chameleon. She was smiling softly with happy tears in her eyes.

"Wow," said Dudley, staring at her. She just beamed at him as the tears slid down her face.

Dudley called his mother and explained things to her. She was overjoyed. She asked if the child would be magical.

"We don't know," said Violet. "The doctor said it would be twins. We will only know if they're magical or not after they're born."

"That's no problem," said Petunia, smiling. "I'll love them whether they're Muggle or not." She really had changed a lot.

They also informed Violet's parents and they too were extremely happy.

"Take good care of her, Dudley," said Mrs. Wilson. "We'll come to visit in a few days."

Dudley also told Harry. Harry said that he was happy for them, and that his child and theirs could perhaps meet up and play together. Dudley agreed wholeheartedly. He'd need Harry's help if his kids were magical. Even if they weren't, he would like them to spend some time with Harry's kids, as well.

Over the next months, Dudley made sure to take great care of Violet. His mother and Violet's came to help, and he was very grateful for them, as he had no idea what to do. Time sped by, but it was also very slow. When Violet was at the hospital, giving birth, he waited outside anxiously. Waiting, waiting, waiting. At last, the nurse came outside.

"Two baby girls, both of them and their mother are as fine as can be."

A/N: Yeah, it's a little rushed, but I didn't know how to fill in the gaps, so time skips. Sorry. I'll try to do better in the future. Hope you still like my story :)
