Love At First Sight
"Oh my god, who is that? I think I'm in love!" Bucky gushed, looking across the canteen.
Steve snorted, but turned his head to see who exactly was making Bucky flail like a teenager.
"Oh. That's Tony," Steve said. "He's a sweetheart but an absolute disaster of a human."
"He's so adorable," Bucky moaned. "How is he so adorable? Steve, can I have him?"
Laughing at his best friend, Steve nodded over to Tony. "Why don't you go and ask him out? Or, actually, probably don't because James Rhodes just walked through the door and he'll kill you dead for even looking at Tony."
Bucky blinked, and then looked at the door to see a tall, muscular looking fella looking around the canteen. His eyes seemed to alight on Tony, and he grinned and walked over to him.
"Are they dating?" Bucky asked, his lips falling into a pout.
Steve shook his head. "Not dating, best friends. Rhodey is basically Tony's keeper. He makes sure he eats and doesn't consume his body weight in coffee."
"Wait," Bucky said slowly, looking from Tony to Steve and back. "Is Tony… Iron Man? Is that that Tony?"
"The one and only," Steve said. "I know, I was a little, uh, concerned as well, but he's honestly the best teammate. He's just not great at taking care of himself."
"I could do that for him," Bucky pointed out. "I'd be happy to roll him up in a blanket and be his pillow and I could feed him all of his food to make sure he eats and I could—"
"You could go and introduce yourself," Steve interrupted, shaking his head. "And maybe don't say any of the rest of it until you've, you know, actually spoken to him."
Bucky nodded, and then looked at Steve. "You should introduce me. So I don't look like a creeper."
Steve looked mournfully at the tray of food he'd only half eaten, and then sighed. "Yeah, okay. Come on."
Bucky grinned and looked back at Tony, who seemed to be explaining something to James Rhodes if the way he was flailing his arms was any indication.
Bucky was definitely in love.
He was adorable.
