Last Time~
"You have barely scratched the surface of your power. When we go there I will tell you more though. For now go say goodbye to everyone, then meet me back here saturday." He said and stood up. As he walked away he dissolved into little particles that sped off into the atmosphere. What a weird person. I thought to myself but did as he asked. Just before I set off for Camp I knelt in front of mom and paul's graves once more.
"I promise I will do as you told me. I will live a good life, and I will stay strong for you." I spoke to the wooden crosses. Then, I set out to begin another journey.
Next Day(Friday July 2nd, 2010, 1 day until the meeting with Kaiser)
Camp Half Blood. My surrogate home for the past four years. I smiled down at Peleus and raked my fingers across his scaly head. He snorted, shooting smoke out of his nose, and nuzzled my hand gently. His gaze was somber, as if he knew this might be the last time he saw me. I gave him a soft smile, patting his head softly before walking through the barrier. The signature strawberry field showed up, as well as the big house in the distance. I had a few people to meet, but first I had to say goodbye to Chiron.
I smiled sadly at the large blue house, the origin of many good and bad memories alike. Terrifying prophecies, hour long war meetings, and long conversations with Chiron. I trudged up the dirt road, and climbed up the rickety wooden steps, finally stopping in front of the front of the door. I knocked on the door with the back of my hand softly, since I did not have to be loud for Chiron's enhanced hearing to pick up on it. After a few seconds I heard the clip clopping of hooves on the wooden floors and stepped back from the door slightly. The knob turned and the door swung open slowly.
"Yes what is.. It..?" Chiron stopped after realizing who was at the door. "Perseus… I did not expect you back so soon. I figured you would take a week or two to.. You know.. Process everything." He said softly, trying to pick and choose his words. I smiled softly. He never stopped caring about his students. He was honestly one of the best immortals in the Greek world, right along with Hestia.
"That is kind of what I came to talk to you about, may I step inside?" I asked him, to which he nodded and stepped aside, making way for me. I walked inside and sat down on a rocking chair by the large couch that Mr D would always sit on. Chiron walked inside, moving towards his enchanted wheelchair, and proceeded to stuff his horse end inside the pocket dimension of the wheelchair. He wheeled over, stopped across the small coffee table from me.
"What is it my boy?" He asked curiously. I sighed and stared up at the ceiling.
"I am going away, Chiron." I told him simply.
"To where? And for how long? Why are you leaving, I know you might want some time away after everything that has happened, but are you really content with leaving your friends behind?" He questioned, worry evident in his voice.
"I do not know where. How long is also unknown. The why, is the only thing I do know. I can't stay here, Chiron. Not after what she did to me. I can't stand to even look at this place, as much as it pains me to say so. There are too many memories. My friends are strong enough, especially after their ascension. They are not bound to the same laws as the others given what their own powers encompass. The new generation will come along, new heroes will be born, and eventually I will fade into the stories of time." I told him, finally looking back down, locking eyes with my greatest teacher. He looked sad, but I could see a glimpse of understanding in his timeless eyes. He sighed deeply and leaned back in his wheelchair.
"What do you plan on doing while you are away?" He asked curiously. I hadn't really thought of that myself. I know Kaiser said he was going to train me to become more proficient with my powers, but I really did not know what I would do after that. Maybe, Maybe I could start a family? Who am I kidding, I am not that lucky, it's quite obvious the Fates hate me. It would be nice to help people. Maybe make a safe haven for demigods or clear sighted mortals. That could be enjoyable.
"Maybe I'll settle down somewhere. Build a home. I know because of my scent I will not be able to slack off in training, but with my powers as they are now, I could probably handle most monsters that came my way." I told him, thinking out loud. He smiled a little.
"I have no doubt you can handle yourself. You might want to break the news to your companions though, it would be rude to not tell them." He said, in that ever wise tone. He was one of the few immortal beings that truly showed the wisdom he had collected over the millenia.
"You are correct. I just wanted to let you know first." I told him, standing up. He wheeled over to me.
"I appreciate Perseus. You have made me proud my boy. You have done things I never thought were possible for a demigod. You have become a role model for generations to come." He said, pride dripping from his words.
I smiled a little, feeling a small amount of warmth spread through my nearly frozen heart. The same warmth that now only came from thinking about my few friends, and the memories I have from my mother. "Thanks Chiron, do you know where the others are?" I asked curiously.
He nodded and pointed towards the arena. "They decided to have some practice bouts after their ascension. Saying they wanted to, and I quote, 'Test out their new bodies'". He said making air quotes and grinning slightly. I let out a laugh that sounded foreign to me.
"Who suggested that?" I asked. He gave me a deadpan stare, as if expecting me to know. Which I was pretty sure I did.
"Let me guess.. Leo?" I said. He nodded and I couldn't stop myself from rolling my eyes. "I bet he was dying to test out his firepower. Anyways, thanks for the talk Chiron. I hope we will see each other again someday." I told him, turning around and walking towards the arena. It wasn't far, just a few minutes of walking. I could tell who was fighting by the impressive lightshow going on above the arena. Pillars of fire erupted spontaneously, and tornadoes formed blowing the fire away. I couldn't help but shake my head, at the end of the day we were all still technically children, even if we have killed before or faced multiple near death scenarios. I stood at the entrance of the arena and listened to the excited cheers going on. It seemed like most of the camp was here. Looking around I saw some romans off to one side, while the campers sat on the other. The hunters of Artemis sat in between the groups, most likely to keep people from acting out of line. Jason and Leo were in the middle, golden sword against a war hammer. Fire and lightning flew around the arena floor. Thalia, Nico, Reyna, Hazel, Frank, Piper, and some of the other veterans sat apart from everyone, watching the battle with interest. I had to admit it was impressive. As someone who had both battled immortals and seen immortals fight, this was truly an immortal level fight. Their movements were on a totally different level from when they were demigods. I doubt most of the demigods here could see their movements clearly, they most likely just saw blurs of motion and powers being unleashed.
Eventually, Leo's war hammer went flying out of his hands and a spear pressed against his neck.
Both Jason and Leo stood there panting, sweat dripping off their bodies. "I win Leo." Jason said as both of them collapsed to their knees. Piper and Hazel ran over to help them up.
"Jason are you alright?" Piper asked worriedly. I walked over silently, unnoticed by my friends as they were distracted by the two fighters. The arena got quiet as everyone noticed me walking up to the two exhausted fighters.
"Y-yeah, just tired. This is honestly amazing, I am exhausted but can already feel my stamina restoring. This was totally worth the pain of being transformed." He said, wiping some sweat off his forehead.
"Next time I'm gonna get you, superman. I promise!" Leo said confidently, taking a swig of nectar provided by Hazel.
"That was a good fight you two." I said, alerting them to my presence. Leo jumped, falling onto his back.
"Holy mother of Zeus Perce! You can't go scaring me like that!" The elfish boy nearly screamed, clutching his chest. Jason just laughed at him.
"Come on Mr. McShizzle, I thought you didn't get scared." Jason said, poking fun at him.
"Don't be like that Jace! Hey Perce, do you wanna fight? I bet I could match you now." Leo said excitedly, obviously happy with the power he had acquired. I just chuckled and patted the short boy on the back.
"Maybe some other time, I actually have something important to tell you all." I told them, gaining their attention. I was about to continue before I was interrupted.
"Come on Kelp head, don't tell me you are scared of fighting us now." Thalia said, smirking. She crossed her arms under her chest and jutted her hip out, trying to look as cocky as possible. I deadpanned and just stared at her.
"Why would I ever be scared of fighting you Thunder thals." I replied, trying not to grin at the nickname I gave her. Her face turned a shade of gold and she glared at me angrily.
"Oh you are gonna get it now Kelp-for-brains, everyone move out of the way!" She yelled at the other, to which they promptly made their way back into the stands, whether by flight or teleportation. She pulled out her can of mace and unveiled her shield. The face of medusa didn't even scare me now, whether that was because its charm no longer worked on me due to my own strength or if I had just seen so many horrors that I truly had nothing to be scared of anymore. I pulled Riptide out of my pocket and uncapped it, feeling something pass through my arm into the rest of my body as my hand gripped the leather wrapped handle. I looked down at my blade, the memento left behind to me by one of my greatest friends. I hadn't held it since I battled Gaea, but now that I was again, a strange feeling was present inside my body. The blade hummed in my hand, as if happy it was going to be used by its master. I felt a strange pull from it, like the tide on the beach, moving in and out at a rhythmic pace. It was nearly indescribable, a sort of calm, as if nothing in the world mattered. I swung riptide slightly, it was like the blade was extensive on my body now. No longer just a weapon, but something much more. I could feel a power residing within the blade, a connection to the sea as deep as my own. It strengthened my own power, I could feel my senses expand, letting me feel the tiny bits of water residing within each and every person in the arena. I could even sense the water within the new gods.
I looked up at Thalia, I could see the power radiating off her, it was palpable. Even with her power being nearly that of a second generation olympian, I did not feel any fear. I knew she was one of the best fighters the godly world had ever seen, all of us were. She was one of the few people that could challenge me as a demigod, one of the few able to give me a good fight. I couldn't keep an animalistic grin from forming on my face, I couldn't help but wonder what heights godhood had pushed her skills to.
"Alright, I accept your challenge!" I said, feeling satisfaction at the trepidation evident in her eyes. As a demigod we used to spar. She was once my equal. But after everything, I wonder where we stand as of now. We walked to opposite sides of the arena and were getting into ready positions when I felt just over a dozen godly signatures moving towards us. "I guess we have some more spectators." I said out loud as the 14 Olympians flashed into the arena. They sat in the VIP section, each with their own thrones. Everyone but me dropped into a bow. Chiron himself came in to greet them.
"My lords and ladies, what brings you here?" He asked respectfully. Zeus' ever arrogant eyes drifted over to his estranged half brother.
"We were informed of a duel between my daughter and nephew. I wish to see the power of the newest generation of gods for myself. We have all witnessed them as demigods, now it is time for us to witness them as gods. Plus I want to see my daughter beat Poseidon's spawn." He said pridefully, giving me a slight glare as he saw that I did not bow. I just smirked, loving the irritation in his eyes. I had no reason to bow to any god, I was not going to serve them any longer. I had given them everything, only to lose nearly everything. I was never going to work for them again. Especially not with Kaiser's training coming up. As mysterious as he was, I knew he could make me stronger.
"Come now brother, even with godhood do you think my son would lose to one of your children?" My father asked, pride shining in his own eyes. Zeus just glared at him in response. He was about to speak up when Hestia interrupted them.
"That's enough brothers, why don't we just start the match?" She asked calmly. My father and uncle nodded, before Zeus cleared his throat.
"Alright, are both participants ready?" He asked, we both shook our heads. "Then Begin!"
Third Person
The instant the words left the sky king's mouth both Thalia and Percy dashed at each other. Perseus surged forth with a speed only a god should be able to achieve. With movements only the immortals in the crowd could follow he smacked his cousin's spear to the side with the flat of his blade and slashed down at the girl he was battling. Thalia herself raised her shield just in time to block the attack, which resulted in a loud boom and the screeching of metal on metal. A burst of air shot from the pound in which the shield and sword collided, making the two combatants stop momentarily before leaping away from each other. All thoughts of the crowd watching them were gone as adrenaline surged through their veins. Thalia herself had an excited smile on her face, though you could tell it was only half the truth as nervousness shined in her eyes. After becoming a goddess, she didn't know anyone besides her fellow new gods or the olympians themselves could beat her in a fight. Now here she was, fighting a demigod who could very clearly keep up with her. It was obvious from that one exchange that he had become exponentially stronger after tartarus and the subsequent battle against Gaea and her monstrous children.
Percy himself just stood at ease, not a trace of tension or anxiety on his body. He had an animalistic, near sadistic grin on his face. Eyes radiating confidence you would only expect from a god. The demigods and gods had only seen this side of Percy a few times. It was always during a fight. It was a side of him that lived up to his reputation among immortals. A demon in battle. A god of the sword. A near invincible fighter. The Destroyer.
On an unspoken queue the two fighters launched back at her, thalia thrusting rapidly at her cousin. Each and every strike was batted away with relative ease. It seemed as if the demigod before her was just dancing, weaving in between each of her strikes and slapping them away as needed. She snarled and began using her true godly strength, causing her strength and speed to rise dramatically. Her eyes glowed with power, and electricity started sparking off her skin as lightning coursed through her body, electrifying every nerve and allowing her body to use 100% of its strength. The only extra boost of strength she could have gained would have been from going into her divine form. Percy himself obviously did not expect that, as he was unprepared for the intense speed behind her strikes. It only took half a second for almost a dozen cuts of various sizes and depths opened over his body. He leapt back to catch his breath and stared at the girl who had done this to him. Thalia had newfound confidence in her eyes.
"I thought you said you could beat me Kelp head! Where is that confidence now!?" She roared, spurred on by the head of battle. Perseus lowered his head, slumping slightly as blood flowed from wounds on his arms, legs, and chest. The electricity from her strikes made his muscles twitch slightly.
"I told you brother! There was no way for your son to beat my daughter now that she is a goddess!" Zeus boomed, but was ignored by the two in the arena. Poseidon was about to respond when the air in the arena changed. A heavy presence pressed upon every person there. Perseus himself slowly raised his head as dark clouds blotted out the sky. Rain started falling slowly, causing the olympians to put up a barrier around themselves and the demigods. Although, it was not just because of the rain itself. They recognized this presence. Two glowing green orbs shone in the newfound darkness. Like emeralds with a flashlight behind them, two gems shining in the darkness of the world. A low laughter spread through the arena, making everyone who heard it shiver at the power in the simple sound. Everyone who had witnessed the battle with Gaea shivered, silently praying to chaos that the incident that happened in that battle would not repeat. The insanity that had been present in those green orbs in the fight against the earth mother was not there currently, but that did nothing to dissuade the god's fears. Why is that? Because the side of Perseus he kept hidden, the side he buried so deep it only began to surface during his trek through Tartarus, was showing itself once more. The Destroyer had awakened.
"You want to play with powers? Alright, let's dance." The being across from thalia stated. The happy go lucky Perseus was taking a back seat, currently in the driver's seat was a bloodthirsty battle god, a being who lived to fight. He raised his hand to the sky and clouds began swirling rapidly. The wind picked up and lightning began arcing through the sky as rain poured. Thalia, realizing the danger she was in, began gathering her own power. Wind whipping around her and lightning arcing from her fingertips. A survival instinct deep inside her subconscious welling up. She gathered lightning in her hands, forming the most powerful bolt she could currently. The bolt of plasma sparked angrily in her hands, ionizing the air around it.
"Take this!" She roared and launched the bolt at her cousin. The bolt itself flew with the power of Zeus' own bolts. A few of the crowd screamed in fear, they knew perseus was powerful, but that bolt was nearly as powerful as Zeus' Master bolt. There was no conceivable way for him to survive if it was hit.
"Perseus move!" The concerned lord of the seas roared desperately, seeing how this friendly match had gone too far now. He was about to flash down there himself but was stopped by his sister. He stared into the fiery orbs of his eldest sister. "Don't stop me sister!" he roared.
"Have confidence in your son, brother." She said, calming him down. They both watched as the bolt flew towards their hero. The son of the sea himself just stared at it, not the least bit bothered, his hand still raised to the sky. Just as he was about to get hit he roared, the very sound itself shaking the arena and threw his hand down. A small trickle of blood flowed from his nose as a massive bolt of lightning fell from the sky and collided with Thalia's. A massive explosion occurred, launching both percy and thalia against their respective sides of the arena. Electricity sparked through the air, angrily colliding with the barrier the gods had set up. The clouds above had been parted by the massive explosion. Both Percy and Thalia were panting, seemingly exhausted by both of their attacks. The demigod stood slowly, wiping the trickle of blood from under his nose. Before the two could attack each other again Hestia flashed into the arena, holding her hands up. "Enough!" She roared, exuding an aura powerful enough to cause both Thalia and Percy to back down in their tired state.
"Come on Lady Hestia, we didn't even get to see who was really stronger." Percy whined slightly, slumping against the wall. All traces of his battle hungry side gone. Thalia walked over, taking a long swig of nectar from a flask. She sighed happily and put a hand on her hip.
"Damn Perce, what the hell did you do to get so strong. I mean come on, I might be a minor goddess but I'm still a goddess." She said indignantly. She tossed a few pieces of ambrosia to her cousin, who gobbled them down, almost making Hestia stop him from the amount he ate. Her worry was alleviated when nothing seemed to happen to him. The other new gods walked over with some of the cabin leaders.
"So what did you want to tell us Percy?" Hazel asked. He sighed and rested his head against the wall of the arena.
"I'm leaving." He said simply, staring at them. A somber mood fell over the friends.
"When?" Piper asked, with sadness in her voice.
"Why man? I get that you might want some time away after everything but are you leaving for good?" Leo asked his friend. Percy himself sighed.
"Like you said Leo, I need some time away. I'm leaving right after this. I am gonna say goodbye to my dad then head out." The green eyed demigod replied, staring sadly at his now somber friends. He stood up and was immediately enveloped in a hug by hazel. After a few seconds she stepped back and smiled at him.
"It's alright percy. Take as much time as you need. We get that you need some time to process." Hazel said, giving a small glare to Leo who nodded. Percy smiled in return.
"Thanks, Haze. I really will miss you guys." He told them. They all smiled and hugs were shared. The boys exchanged one armed hugs and fist bumps before percy waved goodbye and walked over to his father.
"Perseus my boy! What a spectacular display of power!" Poseidon told his son excitedly. Percy just smiled in response.
"Thanks Dad, anyway I have something to tell you." The boy told his father sadly. Poseidon himself just sighed and nodded.
"I heard Perseus. While I wish you would stay here or atleast come to Atlantis with me I know you need some time to yourself. If you could stick around till tomorrow I have something for you." The old sea god told his favorite son. Said favorite son looked at his father curiously.
"What is it?" He asked curiously. The lord of the sea smiled at his son lovingly.
"A gift, I will reveal nothing more until tomorrow. So where do you plan on staying until then?" Poseidon asked. Percy spent a few seconds thinking about it.
"I will be at montauk, the cabin where you met mom. I will wait for you there." Percy replied. His father nodded.
"Would you like me to teleport you there son?" The ever caring father asked. Percy smiled and nodded.
"I would appreciate that, yes."
"Alright son, stay safe. Remember, you ALWAYS have a home in the seas." Poseidon said, making sure his son knew he had a place to stay if he ever wanted it. Percy nodded in response and slowly dissolved into water as his father teleported him to Montauk beach.
AN: Hey everyone! I am back! Just so you know I haven't died quite yet, just hit a rough spot in life. I started training for my new work from home job so I will have an extra hour in my day to do whatever with. I am hoping to at least post a chapter every two or three weeks. Hopefully more. Anyways I hope you are enjoying this so far!
