The Lonely Prince

Frisk finds herself alone in a world of darkness. Can she find Susie and find a way home?

As this is a story and not a video game, like in my old fic, I've changed the battle style from a video game format to full overworld. And Frisk, Susie and Ralsei, in overworld format, would all end up dodging, and choosing their own actions(as there's no logical reason monsters can't act on their own in a non-video game format.) Ralsei of course would listen to Frisk's suggestions, but all three of them are in control of their own actions.

Also, I decided to go into more of an explanation of Frisk's use of Save Stars and have it be both more recognized(as Susie and Ralsei would of course notice being healed) and go more into my own headcanon of the lore for this AU.

...

Frisk groaned as she woke up, blinking open her eyes. The events of the past few minutes came back to her in a terrifying flash, and she jolted to her feet.

She was no longer in the closet, but lying on the middle of a cliff path. Her thoughts immediately went to her companion. "Susie? Susie!" she cried out, looking over the cliff, where she could see only blackness. Had Susie fallen further? Had she gotten up and left her? She was alone, why was she alone? Where was Susie? Susie was mean, but Susie was also her classmate. She was familiar, she was, well, she couldn't quite be called safe, but she was strong, and she had been there in that supply closet that led to an endless void of hell with her, and now Frisk didn't even have her. She didn't have anyone.

She was alone in this place, and she didn't know where she was, or even if she was alive. Had there been an earthquake? Had the school collapsed? Fallen into an alternate dimension? Did it no longer exist? Did she no longer exist?

And what about Tina? Tina would be waiting for her after school. Tina needed her, she couldn't leave her sister alone... Their parents wouldn't take care of her if Frisk was dead or missing, she knew that! Frisk could hardly breathe at the thought.

She had to find a way to get out of here, to get back to the real world! Tina needed her and Susie was missing too and might be hurt! She had to breathe, had to calm down, had to find Susie and get out of here...

She gripped her hair, trying to snap herself out of this, berating herself for being so weak and helpless. And then she noticed something.

Her once yellow toned skin was, at least in this light, a bright cyan, and her hair a dark blue that was almost black. She gasped in shock and looked down to get an even bigger shock. Somehow, even her outfit had changed. She was now wearing a set of plate armor over a dark blue or black bodysuit, and she had a bright pink scarf with blue stripes around her neck.

And when the hell did she get a wooden sword?!

"What the hell is happening here?!" she nearly yelled into the wind. Nothing answered. All there was was silence.

Frisk had no idea where she was, no answers, but there was only one thing she could do if she wanted to find Susie and get home to Tina. She continued on.

Down the pathway, there was a small glowing light, a tiny white star glowing in the dark. Frisk went to it, and following some instinct inside her that craved for its light in this terrifying dark world, touched it.

A wave of warmth washed over her, briefly calming her fears. There was a loud beep, and the words, "file saved," came into her mind like a whisper.

She didn't know what THAT meant, but she did the only thing she could. She kept going. Her footsteps were extremely loud in the silence. "Susie?" she called, wanting to find her classmate.

But nobody came.

She walked on, and on, and then heard a chittering sound. She turned to look, and saw something, some sort of white orb on a tree or stick or something, swaying on a smaller cliff high above her. There was a second a little further away. "Hello?" she called out to them. There was no answer. The orb only swayed, and when she continued on and passed the second, it made the same noise and swayed too. Maybe it was some sort of security system?

Well, whoever was controlling it was going to know she was here soon anyway. She just walked on, continuing along the path where two more sat atop a higher cliff, doing the same was the others. She checked the holes in the cliff, trying to make sure there weren't booby traps, but there was nothing in them but darkness.

And then she saw the shadow of someone passing. "Hello?" she called, but they just darted into the shadows.

"Susie?" she called, but nobody answered.

She continued on, and on, seeing nothing but holes and a symbol that looked like an eye carved into the wall. It unnerved her, but she had to keep going.

There was only holes in the cliff, more orb things, and puddling black water from some of those holes. She couldn't see any traps, but she stayed cautious. She reached a cliffside where it looked like someone had roughly slid down. Maybe it was Susie. Maybe she could find her, and at least no longer be alone in this empty world.

She slid down, managing to land on her feet, and called for Susie again. Again no one answered, and she kept going, hugging herself closely.

There were two paths, and she tried the south one first, finding a pile of something moving atop a cliff with two more of the orb things, and something glowing inside a hole in the wall. Carefully she looked, seeing a glowing shard inside. She poked it carefully, and waited a second. Feeling no pain, she carefully took it out, holding the tiny glowing light in her hand. She didn't know what it was, but maybe she could use it, and at least it would make things a little more bright.

The path was a dead end, so she headed back up, taking the other path.

There were more eye symbols and holes, and in the next room, another orb, but darker than the others and surrounded by a red light. She had no choice but to go past it, not if she wanted to find Susie and a way out.

But this one wasn't harmless like the others. She screamed as it fired white bullets at her. That one barely missed, but there was another one up ahead, and she ran right into one of its bullets, which impacted her shoulder, causing a burning pain. She ran and ran, dodging bullets from another, until she was finally out of range.

She gasped for breath, trying to stop shaking, and saw another glowing star. She hurried to it and touched it. Warm, comforting light washed over her and the pain faded completely away as it beeped, leaving her fully healed, and with her file saved, whatever that meant.

There was a sign nearby, and Frisk cautiously walked over and read it. "In this land, only eyes blinded by darkness can see the way..." she read. She looked and there were three eye symbols above three holes with glowing shards in them. "It's a puzzle." she realized. She read the clues, then after two tries figured it out. "I did it." she said with a small smile, feeling a slight bit of accomplishment, even if it was just solving a puzzle. At least it was something she could do about her situation.

She continued on, finding more eye symbols, holes, and orbs that swayed at her proximity but thankfully didn't attack. There was another cliff someone had clearly slid down, and Frisk did so too, seeing piles of dust or snow or just cloudy things in front of her when she landed.

Once again, she saw a shadow up ahead as someone ran. Remembering the orb that shot bullets, she decided not to call out this time just in case they weren't friendly, and quietly kept going, hoping to catch up to them and hopefully figure out where she was, where Susie was, and how to get out of this place.

She avoided the piles of white stuff in case they were dangerous too, until one blocked her path and she had no choice. She stood close, and when it didn't attack, wrapped her hand in her scarf to protect it and pushed at the pile to clear it out of her way.

And then the entire pile went flying as a a bright magenta figure with long dark pink hair leapt out of it and Frisk very nearly dodged getting punched in the face. "H-hey! B...Back off! Come any closer and I'll...!" the figure yelled angrily and Frisk realized it was Susie, her colors and outfit changed just like her own had been, and cut an even more imposing figure in her black and purple jacket with golden spiked sleeves and black and gold spiked armbands, though she looked just as terrified as Frisk herself was.

Frisk quickly backed up, holding her hands up to show she wasn't armed. "Susie, it's me!"

"F...Frisk?! Phew." Susie sighed in relief, then glared at her. "...Hey, don't scare me like that, dumbass! Unless you WANT to get clocked in the face, heh." she laughed, once again clearly pushing any vulnerability behind her tough façade.

Frisk just smiled at her. She couldn't help it, so glad she had found her and that Susie was safe and that she wasn't alone any more. "Sorry. I'm just glad you're all right. I was worried. I thought you had fallen off the cliff or something when I woke up alone! I was worried you were dead!" Impulsively, she hugged her classmate out of sheer relief.

Susie stiffened in shock for a second, then pushed her away. "Hey, did I say you could hug me?!" she asked angrily.

Frisk quickly backed off. "Sorry!"

"Whatever." Susie muttered, though her voice was softer than before. "...anyway, enough screwing around. We gotta find a way outta here." She looked around. "Ummm...where is "here," anyway...?"

"I don't know. How the hell did we end up in a totally different world from the school's freaking supply closet? And why do we look different from before? Where did you get that outfit, and why am I wearing freaking armor?"

"How the hell am I supposed to know?!" Susie retorted. "You're the nerd, not me! And it doesn't matter anyway! YOU got us into this mess, YOU get us out!"

"I got us into this mess?! I didn't make the school supply closet send us into another dimension!" Frisk shot back.

"Well, you're the one that..." Susie started before groaning. "Just lead the way, you weirdo."

"Fine." Frisk hurried off.

"Huff...Puff, you want to make it a race?" Susie challenged before running off. Frisk grumbled under her breath as she hurried to catch up to her. She slid down another cliff, and ran to catch up to Susie, who had paused in the middle, looking up at the towering cliff behind her.

Frisk reached her. "What's going on?"

"Hey, Frisk. There's someone up there waving at us. Any idea on what they want...?"

Frisk glanced up, barely seeing a silhouette of some person with a spade shaped head before the guy shot two rows of glowing spades at them that barely missed them.

Susie turned to her with terrified eyes. "R-Run, Frisk!"

She darted off, and Frisk blindly ran after her. Spade shaped bullets were surrounding her and she did her best to dodge, managing to miss most, but some still hit her. She barely felt the pain, continuing to run until she reached Susie.

"Frisk, down here!" Susie yelled, pointing at the cliff.

She jumped down, and so did Frisk, sliding along the cliff. More spades came at them, and it was all Frisk could do to throw herself to one side or the other to avoid them. The fall felt endless...she couldn't breathe, she thought she was going to die...

And then she hit the ground, the impact shooting waves of pain through her already injured body and knocking the wind out of her, making her see stars.

Someone grabbed her arm and she nearly cried out, only to have a hand cover her mouth. "Quiet! You want that freak to hear us?!" Susie's voice hissed and Frisk instantly relaxed. "Good. Now c'mon before that creep comes back."

Susie practically dragged her down the path, and they came upon a town with several dark buildings that looked abandoned, glowing torches lighting the way.

"What the heck is this place?" Susie muttered. Frisk had no answer. "No clue either, huh?"

"Nope."

"Wonder if there's anyone in that building up there...?" Susie mused, pointing at an enormous black castle with a black geyser shooting from someplace deep within.

"Not sure, but if they're anyone like that guy on the cliff, I'm not sure I want to find out."

"Point taken, but we can't just stand around here." Susie pointed out. "And chill out. If they're bad, I'll just beat 'em up." She grinned ferally.

Frisk surprisingly felt better at this, and went up the pathway towards the castle with Susie behind her. Much to her relief, there was another glowing star right in front of the castle. "Oh good, there's one of those star things. We can get healed here." she told Susie in relief and touched it.

"What star thing?" Susie asked in utter confusion as the warm light washed over Frisk, then both girls gasped as the white light started emanating from Frisk and flowed to Susie, healing all her wounds too. "How the hell did you DO that? I didn't know you could use healing magic!"

"I can't. It was that glowing star." Frisk told her, pointing at the star. "I found a couple of them on the path and they heal me when I touch them. They also keep saying my file is saved, whatever the heck that means."

"Frisk, there's absolutely nothing there. I don't see any weird star. It's just an empty path." Susie told her, sounding spooked.

"You can't see it? But it's literally right there! I'm telling the truth!" Frisk pleaded.

"And I'm saying I don't see anything!" Susie retorted, then sighed. "But...considering we crash-landed in some weird world from a school supply closet, you ending up with invisible star powers is believable, I guess. No other way to explain that you just healed us both by touching an empty spot in the path. Now let's go into that freaky castle and see if we can find anybody."

They went through the entryway and up a set of stairs, Frisk tense and remaining cautious and close to Susie. Susie too was on her guard, though more confused than anything. "How the hell do you think a castle got into a supply closet?"

"I don't have any more clue than the last time we talked about this."

"Welcome, heroes...!" a voice suddenly called from the darkness.

Susie tensed. "Who's there?!" she yelled as Frisk reached for her wooden sword that she had somehow gotten.

"Do not be alarmed... I am not your enemy." the voice then said soothingly. "Please come forward, both of you..." Susie and Frisk glanced at each other, then followed the pathway, where they spotted a small figure hidden under a cloak.

"Welcome. I am the Prince of this Kingdom..." the person said kindly in a soft male voice. "The Kingdom Of Darkness. Frisk, Susie... there is a legend in this land. A legend that one day, two Heroes Of Light will arrive, and fulfill the ancient prophecy, foretold by time and space."

"How do you know our names?" Frisk asked, freaked out by this. "Were you spying on us?"

Susie opened her mouth to speak too, but the figure cut her off. "Please...just give me some time to explain. Listen to my tale."

Frisk hesitated, then nodded.

"Very well then... Once upon a time, a LEGEND was whispered among shadows.

It was a LEGEND of HOPE.
It was a LEGEND of DREAMS.
It was a LEGEND of LIGHT.
It was a LEGEND of DARK.
This is the legend of DELTA RUNE
For millennia, LIGHT and DARK have lived in balance,
Bringing peace to the WORLD.
But if this harmony were to shatter...
a terrible calamity would occur.
The sky will run black with terror
And the land will crack with fear.
Then, her heart pounding...
The EARTH will draw her final breath.
Only then, shining with hope...
Three HEROES appear at WORLDS' edge.
A HUMAN,
A MONSTER,
And a PRINCE FROM THE DARK.
Only they can seal the fountains
And banish the ANGEL'S HEAVEN.
Only then will balance be restored,
And the WORLD saved from destruction.
Today, the FOUNTAIN OF DARKNESS-
The geyser that gives this land form-
Stands tall at the center of the kingdom.
But recently, another fountain has appeared on the horizon...
And with it, the balance of LIGHT and DARK begins to shift."

Frisk listened with both rapt attention and utter confusion, and glanced at Susie to see that the other girl somehow looked confused, intrigued, and annoyed all at once.

"Frisk, Susie... Thank you for listening to my long tale." the figure told them. "I deeply believe you two are the Heroes of the Legend. That despite whatever enemies you might face... You two have the courage to save the world."

"Um...we just fell through some weird portal in the supply closet trying to get chalk." was all Frisk could say to that.

"Delta warriors!" the prince called, seeming not to hear her. "Please, won't you accept your destiny...?"

Susie gave him a weird look. "Uhhh... Nah."

Frisk decided to soften the blow. "Look, I don't think we're the heroes you're looking for. We're just high school students who fell through a portal, okay? We gotta get home. I have to pick up my little sister at school today, and I can't do that if I'm in some weird alternate dimension."

"W... What?" the prince asked softly, seeming heartbroken, and Frisk felt bad.

"Yeah, what she said!" Susie then put in. "Me? Some kind of hero or something...? You've got the wrong person." She grinned evilly.

"B-but, Frisk, Susie, without you, the... the world will..." he pleaded.

"So what?" Susie told him in an annoyed tone. "If the world gets destroyed... It's none of my damn business. Might even be kind of fun, honestly."

"Um, Susie... That I kind of don't agree with." Frisk told her. "My sister's in that world. So are our classmates, remember?"

Susie glared at her. "Well, maybe you're a hero, Frisk, but you know me. I'm not. If YOU want to play pretend with this weirdo... Stick around. I'm going to find a way out of here." She turned away.

"Susie...we don't even know the way..." Frisk started.

"Susie... wait!" the prince called. And Susie turned back, but probably not for the reason the prince wanted, as the roaring of a motor suddenly burst through the courtyard and a bicycle with a rocket engine burst through and slammed into the prince, sending him flying and making both Frisk and Susie yell in surprise.

It was a boy, looking younger than both Susie and Frisk, with a spade shaped head and a black spade on his forehead and another spade, this one blue, on his chest. He wore a white and blue outfit with blue gloves, and grinned as he stuck his tongue out at them. "Ho, ho, ho... The heroes are already running away... And they didn't even know I was here. My dad's gonna make me Son of the Month!"

"Who the hell are you?!" Susie growled.

"I'm...!" He did a twirl on his bike. "The bad guy."

"For a bad guy, he's sure got style." Frisk muttered. The kid overheard her and grinned.

"Thanks, blue person! Too bad you're a clown that wants to seal our Dark Fountain! And STILL picturing you guys as clowns- Save the world from Eternal Darkness, huh?!"

"Um..." Frisk started.

Susie just made a face. "Eh."

"Don't try to deny it...!" the kid said with a less than intimidating glare. "We both know you'll go east! It's your only way home!" He took a dramatic pose. "But, I, Lancer, won't let you go there! And I've got a flawless two step plan to ensure it. Step one. I thrash you. Step two. You lose!"

Susie smiled condescendingly. "Hmm. Nice plan, kid."

"R-Really?" Lancer asked with his eyes wide. Frisk couldn't help but feel bad for him.

Susie's smile turned sharp and scary. "Yeah, actually... Mind if we use it on you instead?"

Lancer glared at her. He then zoomed at them. Both Frisk and Susie ducked as his motorcycle shot over their heads.

Susie pulled an ax from a belt at her side and swung at him. The ax connected, making him slide back.

"Dunno how I got an ax, but like, that's cool." Susie mused. "Now, c'mon, Frisk! I see a sword on your belt too! Fight him!"

"I'm not going to hit a kid! He's barely older than my sister!" Frisk hissed. She then turned to Lancer. "Hey, we don't need to fight. Let's talk instead, okay? I like your bike. Did you put the rocket engine on yourself?"

Lancer grinned. "Yeah! Well, actually, Lesser Dad helped, but I did almost all of it by myself!"

"Hey! Don't compliment the enemy! We're supposed to be fighting!" Susie yelled.

"Oh yeah! We ARE supposed to be fighting!" Lancer remembered. He smirked at Frisk. "Sorry, blue girl! You'll never trick the awesome Lancer with some mere compliments!"

He zoomed at them again, nearly clipping Frisk with his bike and shooting spade attacks at them. Frisk yelped as she was hit.

"See?! You got hurt because you refuse to fight!" Susie yelled. "What's your problem?!"

"If I hit him, he could fall off his bike! I'm not putting him in the hospital!"

"Well, I don't care! He may be a kid, but he's still old enough to try to kill us!" Susie yelled, swinging at Lancer with her ax.

"Watch out!" Frisk yelled and Lancer managed to dodge Susie's attack.

Susie glared at her. "Whatever you nearly got expelled for, it clearly wasn't using common sense in a fight!"

"Can we not talk about this here?!" Frisk yelled back before her eyes widened. "Susie, look out!" She pulled Susie out of the way of Lancer's bike.

Susie growled and tried to hit him with her ax, but Lancer expertly dodged it before zooming at them again and attacking them both with more spade attacks. Susie managed to escape unscathed, but Frisk was hit once.

"Aww, man! My bike's nearly outta fuel!" Lancer complained. "All right, you punk-a-roos! You had the luck of the draw this time, but...Next time the losers will be YOU! He waved. "Hahaha! Bye, losers! I gotta get home before dinner!" He zipped off on his bike and a shower of coins fell behind him.

"What were you thinking, Frisk?!" Susie growled as she brushed herself off. "You got yourself hurt because you had to be so freaking noble! Could have gotten me hurt too!"

"I'm sorry, but he's like ten. I can't hurt a kid." Frisk said softly. Susie just rolled her eyes. Frisk turned away, rubbing a bruise, and picked the fallen coins off the ground.

"Are you two OK...?" the prince asked as he came rushing back.

"Bit bruised up, but I'll live." Frisk said as she counted out the coins. She passed half to Susie, who stuffed them in her pocket.

"Um, allow me to introduce myself more properly. I am..." the prince started.

"Geez, can you take off that hood?" Susie asked grumpily. "I can barely hear you under there."

He fidgeted nervously. "U-umm, alright..." He pulled off the cloak, revealing he was a small dark furred goat monster with round glasses, probably around her and Susie's age if Frisk had to guess, wearing green robes with a black heart on the center, a thick pink scarf, and a green hat with tiny horns. "Hello, everyone. I'm Ralsei. Frisk, Susie... It's ever so wonderful to meet you! I'm certain we're going to become great friends, and..."

"Best way to leave is East, right?" Susie interrupted.

"Yes! That's where we'll..." Ralsei started before getting cut off again.

"Got it. See you at school, Frisk." Susie then just walked off, leaving Frisk and Ralsei standing there awkwardly.

"Umm... I suppose it's just the two of us, then..." Ralsei said, looking stunned, before walking over to her. "Frisk, I'm a prince, but... I, um, currently don't have any subjects. I've been waiting alone here... Um... my whole life for you two to arrive. So... I'm really happy to meet you. I hope we can become good friends, Frisk."

Frisk's heart ached. She knew what it was like to be alone. She at least had had Tina. Ralsei clearly had no one. And while she wanted to go home... she couldn't just leave him alone. Plus, the fountain was the same direction she had to go to go home anyway. There was no harm in staying with him, and if she was in fact some weird hero of legend, it'd be best to just seal the fountain. The world ending definitely did not sound like fun to her.

She smiled sadly. "I'd like that, Ralsei."

Ralsei's smile was as bright as the sun. "Thanks, Frisk." He then turned. "Let's try to find Susie. She must be to the southeast. You can lead the way, Frisk."

Frisk nodded and headed out of the castle with him. They arrived at the Save Point, as she started calling the white stars, and feeling sore from the fight with Lancer, she pressed it.

Ralsei gasped as the glowing magic surrounded and healed him too. "You're a Star User!"

Frisk blinked. "I'm a what?!"

"A Star User." Ralsei repeated. He smiled widely. "Frisk, in our world, there are points of powerful magic, known as Save Stars. Only a Star User can see them, and access their power. With the power of a Save Star, you'll be able to not only heal yourself, but everyone in your party. Some have even been known to be able to teleport back to those stars if they and their party are in critical danger." Ralsei pretty much bounced with excitement. "There hasn't been a Star User in hundreds of years! Only someone with a soul of incredible power can do it. And...it's even said that one with enough power can transcend time, space, and even death!"

"That's creepy." Frisk admitted. "Not the healing part, I love the healing part and teleporting sounds really cool too, but the whole "transcending time, space, and death," thing? Sounds way dangerous."

"Don't worry, Frisk! You are a hero, after all." Ralsei reassured her with a smile. "You'll be able to handle it!"

"Ralsei... I want to help you, but...I'm not really much of a hero." Frisk admitted. "I'm just a kid. Plus, you saw me fight."

Ralsei took both her hands and squeezed them gently. "What I saw was someone with an unbreakable urge to do good. You refused to hit that Lancer guy because you didn't want to hurt him badly. I know Susie was mad about that, but I think she was just worried about you! Plus, I think you did the right thing! You acted, and that's much better than just swinging a sword at someone. I think you're going to become a great hero too! And I think Susie will too, once she sees it in herself. And speaking of that..." He released one of her hands, but still kept hold of the other as he gently pulled her down the southeast path. "Here, I wanna show you something."

They walked into a room, and Frisk spotted a dummy, vaguely shaped like Ralsei and wearing clothes that looked like his. "This is a training dummy that I made! Since you're worried about not knowing how to handle yourself in a battle, would you like me to teach you to fight?"

"That sounds good actually." Frisk admitted, wanting to do better and not get herself, Ralsei, or Susie if Susie ever met up with them again hurt in battle.

"Ok! Get ready, Frisk!" Ralsei told her cheerfully as they prepared for battle. "First, when you enter a fight, you gotta learn how to evade!"

Frisk nodded and Ralsei pushed a button. The dummy whirred and fired small bullets at her, though the bullets were slow and easy to sidestep.

"Great job, Frisk! You're a natural!" Ralsei cheered. "Now it's our turn! Pull out your sword. First I'll teach you to fight."

Frisk nodded and pulled out her wooden blade. "I've never used a sword before." she admitted.

"That's all right!" Ralsei reassured her. He came over and adjusted her grip on the blade before showing her how to swing. "Though fighting is unnecessary in this world, there's no harm in a thorough lesson! Here, try swinging at the dummy."

Frisk nodded and obeyed, though she was a bit off center and didn't deal much damage.

"That was good, Frisk." Ralsei reassured her. He helped her adjust to do a better swing, then moved onto the next lesson. "Ok, next let's try defending!" He once again adjusted her position, showing her how to take a few defensive stances, both for standing and running. Frisk did so and gasped in delight as her sword transformed into a shield.

"That's so cool!" she said.

Ralsei grinned. "I know! Your weapon changes depending on intent. It's the case for all Dark World weapons."

Frisk nodded. "I still have no clue on how I got it though."

"You're a hero, remember? The powers that sent you here obviously gave it to you." Ralsei told her.

This didn't make sense to Frisk, but she doubted he'd give her a better answer right now, and didn't even know if he had one, so she focused on the lesson.

"You're doing good! A good defense will make the enemy's attack hurt you less. Plus, making your team's defenses stronger will give your teammates the time to power up their magic spells sooner and reduces the cooldown time! And speaking of magic, if you fight an enemy enough to weaken it, or act a certain way, it gets tired. And that's when I can use my Pacify spell on it." Ralsei told her. "It'll fall asleep and we'll win peacefully!" He summoned an orange light from his hands and cast it at the dummy, whose robotic eyes closed. "Great! If this was a real battle, we would have won it by now!"

Frisk nodded with a smile, and Ralsei continued. "There's one more thing I wanted to teach you, but considering I've seen you do this already, you'll do great! Acting a certain way, showing that you're a kind person, will make enemies, even the more violent ones, no longer want to fight you." He turned to the dummy. "Frisk, though it's just a dummy, why not give it a hug?"

Frisk went over and hugged the dummy awkwardly. She felt ridiculous, but Ralsei was smiling. "Aww, that's great, Frisk! Each enemy has different wants and needs, and different acts will satisfy them. And every monster I've seen, once they're happy and they know you're not going to hurt them, will stop fighting. Then you can spare them and the fight will be over. And if we do things this way, we'll never have to fight!" Ralsei was clearly thrilled, and Frisk mentally resolved to do things this way if possible.

After all, deep down, she hated fighting, and she knew she couldn't kill.

"I'll definitely try doing things that way." she told Ralsei.

His smile was as bright as the sun. "Thanks, Frisk! And I had a lot of fun teaching you! You're a wonderful student!" In his excitement, he hugged her, and after a brief moment of shock, Frisk hugged him back. Tears nearly came to her eyes.

Besides Tina, no one had ever hugged her before.

Ralsei pulled back, smiling. "And in case you need a refresher, I wrote both you and Susie a manual! Here!" He happily handed her a thick book. Frisk thanked him, and happily took it. She peeked inside, but Ralsei's writing was dense, and so tiny that it made her eyes hurt. Still, she put it in a bag that she had somehow gotten when she fell into the Dark World.

They continued along the path, coming to a huge golden door that was partially open. Ralsei gasped. "Oh my! The Great Door is opened?! No wonder Lancer was able to come through..." He turned to Frisk. "Frisk, once we pass through that door... our adventure will really begin. A journey foretold exactly by the prophecy. But Frisk, I believe YOUR choices are important too. This world is full of all kinds of people, Frisk. In the end, how we treat them makes all the difference. So let's try our best to get by without fighting. If we can manage to do that, I believe this tale may have a happy ending. Otherwise, I fear that...you might not find the result favorable." His eyes then widened in apology. "...Oh, I'm sorry! Is that too much to ask?"

"No, it's not." Frisk reassured him. "Ralsei, I know this is your world, and your people. I know you want to keep them safe. You're their prince after all." She placed her hand over her heart. "I'm not a killer, Ralsei, and I'm going to make you a promise. If there is any chance at all, no matter how small, to get through things peacefully, I won't fight anyone, and I won't kill. Ever." She smiled. "And I ALWAYS keep my promises."

Ralsei beamed. "Frisk, I know you had your doubts, but I knew you were a hero the moment I saw you. Let's try our best, all right?" He held out his hand.
