Most teenagers would not be too happy about the first day of school after a summer break. However, when the new school that your entering is a school made for training future superheroes, then it becomes more anticipated than a regular school!
That's exactly what Izuku Midoriya was feeling as he was all packed and ready for this first day at U.A. High! He had anticipated this day for a long time and it was now finally here!
"Got your notebook?" asked Inko.
"Check." replied her son.
"Pencils?"
"Check."
"Eraser?"
"Check."
"Pen?"
"Check."
"Phone?"
"Check."
"Spare Clothes?"
"Check."
"Your lunch?"
"Check."
"Well, I guess you have everything you need." signed Inko. She still couldn't believe that her son was about to start his first day at U.A. It seemed like it was only yesterday that he started preparing for the Entrance Exam. Now he was heading off for his first lesson in his future career as a hero.
"Chao Chao Chao!" said Sonikku.
"Haha. Thanks, buddy. I'll give it everything I got!" Izuku smiled as he gave the Chao a thumbs up.
Eri them walked over and hugged Izuku's left leg, "Go be a great hero, Izu!"
Izuku crouched down and rubbed his hand on Eri's head, "I'll become a hero that will make you proud! All of you proud!"
"You've already made us proud, Izuku! You're really cool!" said Inko with a smile.
Izuku smiled back at his family and then turned to open the door of his apartment home and walked out towards his first day of school!
(One Train Ride Later)
Since it was illegal to use your Quirk in public, (With a few exceptions) Izuku had to take public transportation to go long distances. While he didn't like it, he also didn't want to deal with the cops and having to pay tickets for illegal Quirk use.
Izuku had gotten off the train and walked a good distance from the station until he made it into the front gates of U.A. High. He was still having a hard time believing that he was now a student at this school.
Izuku was now walking around inside the hallways while looking around for his homeroom classroom. He held up a piece of paper that said that he was part of Class 1-A.
'Let's see, it says that Class 1-A should be on this floor.' he thought to himself.
He them looked up from the paper and saw a sign that was next to a door that said '1-A'. Izuku looked at the door and saw that it was bigger than a normal one.
"I wonder what kind of classmates I'll have? Hopefully, I won't get stuck with Bakugo! He's such a pain in the ear!" said the green-haired teen.
He decided to think positively and opened to door to start his new life as a future hero in training! He walked into the classroom and saw a confrontation was going one. One where someone he knew was one of the two apposing forces.
"Get your feet off of the desk!" called out a familiar voice. It was the same boy with glasses from the Entrance Exam that asked questions about the robots.
"You're kidding, right? Did you old school put a stick up your ass, or were you just born with it?" replied Katsuki as he kept his feet on the desk.
"Somei Private Academy doesn't do what you suggest, you certin!" said the glasses boy.
"Somei, huh? One of the elites too. In that case, I'll be happy to crush you!" grinned Katsuki.
The blonde's statement shocked the boy, "Y-You dare call yourself a hero with an attitude like that?"
Izuku decided it was time to step in, "Hey, Kacchan! How's my best buddy?"
Katsuki and the rest of the class turned to look at Izuku who was leaning by the door with a smile on. Katsuki's blood started to bold as he saw Izuku and he grinned his teeth in anger. He couldn't believe that the green-haired nerd was here. He was hoping that he would get into another class, but it seems that fate had other plans.
"Deku!" growled the blonde.
"It's good to see that we're in the same class, isn't it, pal?" asked Izuku.
"WE ARE NOT PALS! DON'T EVEN THINK THAT I'D WASTE TIME HANGING OUT WITH YOU, NERD!" shouted Katsuki, as his outburst caused most of the students in the class to jump in fright at the unexpected yelling.
"No need to be so shy about having an old acquaintance as a classmate." smiled Izuku. He enjoys setting Bakugo off sometimes.
"You, your a member of this class, aren't you?" asked the boy with glasses.
"You bet I am! I'm Izuku Midoriya, nice meet ya!" said Izuku as he held out his hand to shake his new classmate.
"My name is Tenya Iida! It's a pleasure to meet you, Midoriya! I'm also pleased to see that you figured out the secret part of the exam as well." said Tenya.
"What secr- Ohh, you mean the rescue points, right?" asked Izuku.
"Indeed, you figured out that rescuing our fellow examines would gain you points as well. It's no wonder you made it first in the exam!" Tenya complimented Izuku for his accomplishment.
Katsuki's fist tumbled as he grinned his teeth in anger at the fact that Tenya mentioned Izuku getting first on the Entrance Exam. Izuku was always one upping him and making him be the second best whenever the two of them participated in anything competitive. He just couldn't seem to catch up to him in terms of abilities as a fighter.
"I actually didn't know about the rescue points until after I got the message that I made it in. I just rescued the girl because it was the right thing to do." explained the green speedster.
"So you acted upon instinct in order to save other that you were competing against? You truly are superior to me as a student and an speedster as well!" Tenya cursed himself for not being able to see the true point of the Entrance Exam.
"Speedster? Y-You have a speed Quirk, Iida?"
"Indeed I do, Midoriya."
"Awseome! Finally someone I can race against and test myself against in speed!" cheered Izuku as his lifted his fist into the air as a sign of joy.
Before anymore words could be shared, another student showed up at the door and walked in. When she saw Izuku, she knew she now had the chance to ask him, "Oh, it's you!"
Izuku and Tenya turned around and saw the same girl that Izuku saved from the giant robot during Entrance Exam!
"Hey, good to see you again! I didn't expect for us to be in the same class!" smiled Izuku as he waked over to the girl.
"Well now that I'm here, I can finally ask you your name, mister!" she crossed her arms.
"I'm Izuku, Izuku Midoriya."
"Well then, Midoriya, I'm Ochaco Uraraka. Thanks again for saving me during the exam." said Ochaco.
"No problem, I was happy to- WHAT THE SEGA SATURN!?" shouted Izuku as he startled a few student. He was looking at something, or someone in a sleeping bag that was just outside the door.
"How long are you planning on standing there talking? You're wasting our precious time! We need to get a move on." said the man.
"Uh, who are you, sir?" asked Ochaco.
"I'm Shota Aizawa. I'm your teacher." explained Aizawa.
'That's our teacher!?' was what most of the students in the class thought.
Aizawa crawled out of his sleeping bag and pulled out blue workout clothing with red and white stripes on it, "Put these on and follow me out back. We got a lot of work to do!"
"Huh?" was the reaction of a majority of the class. What kind of teacher was this guy?
(A Few Minutes Later)
All the students of Class 1-A had changed into the school's sport uniform and went outside the school's sports field where they were told that they were going to be doing a Quirk Apprehension Test.
"But what about Orientation, we're going to miss it!" said Ochaco.
"If you want to be a hero that makes a difference in the world, then you can't waste time on pointless things like a ceremony. Here at U.A., we're not tethered to traditions. That means I get to run my class the way I see fit!" explained Aizawa.
That statement caused a few students to gasp in shock, as they began to worry about what he was going to do to them if they don't meet his expectations!
"We're here to start to first day off by seeing how strong your Quirks currently are. You're all going to get stronger during your time here at U.A., but an important part of growing stronger is knowing how strong you currently are, that way you can look back at where you started and appreciate all the hard work you put into getting where you are." Aizawa explained further.
Izuku nodded his head as he agreed with what his teacher was saying, as he spent years to get to his current level of control and mastery over his Sonic Speed.
Aizawa then turned to him and asked, "Midoriya, you got the most points in the Entrance Exam. What's the furthest distance you ever thrown a softball back at Junior High?"
Izuku started to scratch the back of his head nervously, "Hehe. Well, you're going to get a real kick out of this once you hear about it! Let me tell you, it's quite the story that I have to share about how that-"
"You have no idea, do you?" Aizawa interrupted him to ask.
"Not a clue!" answered the green-haired teen.
"Whatever, just throw this ball as hard as you can while using your Quirk." Aizawa handed him a softball as Izuku walked up towards the center of a circle.
Izuku started to think about how he was going to use his speed to throw the ball far enough, but he was suddenly struck with an idea! He held the ball in his right arm and started to wind his arm up by spinning it backwards. He continued to do this for a few seconds before his arm sped up and was spinning faster that he was creating a gust of wind from his arm's spinning. After winding up for about thirty seconds, he tossed the ball as far as he could and watched it as it soared across the sky.
All of the other students watched in disbelief at how far Izuku tossed the ball as they saw it fly through the air, all except Katsuki, who grinned his teeth in frustration.
Once the ball looked like it was about to start coming back down, Izuku started to twist his hand rapidly as he kept an eye on the ball falling to the ground. Aizawa saw this and wondered what his student was planning. Izuku looked at the ball and estimated where it was going to land in a few seconds, while he was still twisting his hand. Izuku finally saw the opportunity that he needed and thrust out the hand that he was twisting to fired a compressed ball of air from his hand.
"Sonic Wind." he called out.
The compressed sphere of air flew across the field and ended up hitting the ball as it came down, which resulted in the ball being blasted a bit further away! The ball then landed as it hit the ground and stopped.
Aizawa looked at his phone and showed the class the distance that Izuku had sent it flying. The result was surprizing for everyone, even Izuku himself!
"701.5 meters!" shouted Tenya in disbelief.
"Man, I didn't think I get it that far! I guess I'm better than I give myself credit for!" smiled Izuku.
"Don't get too cocky, kid! That was only the first test out of multiple that you'll all be taking. You'll each need to use your Quirks to complete these exercises and show how good you currently are in using your Quirks!" Aizawa addressed his class.
"We get to use our Quirks? Really!"
"We can actually use our Quirks!?"
"This is going to be so much fun!"
Most of the students were getting excited about being able to use their Quirks freely, Aizazwa was getting annoyed at them for not taking this seriously and thinking that this will be fun.
"So, you all thinks that your time here at U.A. is going to be all fun and games, do you? You'll all be here for three years and will need to use those three years properly in order to become good heroes. Today you'll all be taking eight physical exams that will show how much potential you and your Quirk have, whoever comes in last place will immediately be expelled!" warned the teacher.
Everyone was shocked at what they were just told and started to get a bit nervous about how their were going to do on the exams, while others were making their opinions of the situation know verbally.
"You can't do that!"
"We worked hard to get here!"
"We just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!"
"Fair? And you think that natural disasters are fair? Or power-hungry villains? What about catastrophic accidents that can wipe out whole cities? Does any of that sound fair to you?" asked Aizawa as he used a student's question right back at them.
Silence was the only response that he got, which meant that the students got the point.
"The world is full of unfairness, and the job of combating that unfairness falls to the heroes. If you want to be a hero, you're going to need to push yourself until you drop in order to get by. For the next three years, U.A. will throw one terrifying hardship after another at you in order to see how you handle it, so go beyond Plus Ultra-style!" explained the teacher.
The students took a moment to let what their teacher told them sink in and get a better understanding of what he was trying to teach them. There was some truth to what he was saying, that the world was full of unfairness, Izuku himself experienced it at four-years-old, but they also understood that they needed to work hard if they wanted to become the heroes that they all dreamed of being.
Izuku was having his own thoughts about all of this, 'I trained ever since I first got my Sonic Speed at five, I've cleaned up that beach all on my own, I studies for hours while wishing I could do something else that was more fun, I pushed my body to the limit and surpassed it during the last ten months to get here! I will. Not. Get kicked out. On the first day here! I will pass this test and make sure that all my hard work pays off! I'll pass no matter the cost! Even if I need to break a finger to do so!' he though to himself.
He was going to give it his all!
(50 Meter Dash)
A machine was used to measure the speed and time that the students ran in the fifty meter dash.
The first ones up were Tenya and a girl, they each got ready to run and they crouched down and waited for the signal to move!
*BANG*
The two then took off! Tenya was taking the lead as his Quirk was made for running at high speeds, meaning that he crossed the finish line first.
(3.04 Seconds) was what he scored.
(5.58 Seconds) was what the girl got.
The next pair to do the dash was Izuku and Katsuki. The blonde gave the green-haired boy the stink-eye out of envy. As much as he hated to admit it, and I mean really hate it. He knew clearly that Izuku was going to be the winner.
The two boys got into position and waited for the signal to start!
*BANG*
*ZOOM*
(0.50 Seconds) was Izuku's score once he finished.
*BOOM*
(4.13 Seconds) was Katsuki's score.
The hothead looked at Izuku with anger and he grinned his teeth and clenched his fist. He may have known that this was going to be the result, but he still couldn't help but feel angry that he lost to Izuku again!
(Grip Strength)
The next test was a testing of the student's strength in their arms and hands. The top score in this test so far was 540 kilograms. It was Izuku's turn next! While he wasn't the strongest in terms of arm strength, he did still train his arms for whenever he needed them in the future, which was proven here today as he got a score of 65 kilograms.
(Standing Long Jump)
Izuku was curled up into a ball and was charging up a Spin Dash to help him clear the sandbox that was in front of him. Once he was ready to jump, he uncurled himself, crouched down, and leaped high into the air and over the sandbox!
Everyone was amazed at how far Izuku had leaping into the air as he already passed the sandbox and was still going a distance. However, once he started to come down from the air, he landed outside of school property and the ears of everyone were met with a loud-
*CRASH*
They couldn't see where he landed, but Izuku responded with a painful, "I'm O-OK! I think!"
"HAHAHAHAHA!" laughed Katsuki, as he was the only one that found it hilarious!
(Repeated Side Steps)
Izuku was side stepping at such a high speed that it looked like there were three blurs of himself standing in the testing field.
(Ball Throw)
The final test of the exam was the ball throw. Since Izuku had thrown his ball before the exam started that mean he didn't need to go again, so the last person to do this test was Katsuki.
The blonde threw the ball while creating an explosion in the same hand to increase the power of his throw while yelling, "Die!"
The ball flew through the air with great speed as it then landed on the field where all of the other balls landed.
Aizawa looked at the score that the blonde boy got on his phone and saw that it read (705.2 meters), meaning that Katsuki got the second highest score in the ball throw test.
"Alright, that was the final test. I've ranked all of your test results together and placed them from best to worst. You should all probably have a good idea of what your standing it already, but encase you don't, I'll show it to you all!" announced Aizawa as he pulled out a remote from his pocket and pressed button to show the results on a screen.
Izuku found his name near the top as he earned second place! He was relived that he wasn't getting kicked out, but he felt really sorry for whoever was getting kicked out.
Katsuki clutched his fist in anger that he was in fourth place, he wanted to be at first, but someone else got it. The up side was that it wasn't Izuku, the down side was that he was below Izuku instead, and by one person too as someone else scored higher than him!
The student that came in last place was Minoru Mineta, the shortest boy in the class with purple balls on his head. He was shocked to see that he was the dead last!
"I-It can't b-be..." he said with a voice full of fear.
"By the way, that person getting expelled because of getting last place... That was a lie!" smiled Aizawa.
All the students were caught off guard by this and shouted, "WHHHHAAAAAT!"
"Of course it was a lie. It was really meant to motivate us to push pass our limits and do our best!" said the tallest girl in the class, Momo Yaoyorozu.
The rest of the students looked at her in shock, as she had just confirmed that she knew about this joke awhile ago and didn't tell them.
"What!? None of you figured it out on your own? I guess I probably should have said something, huh?" she said while scratching the back of her head.
'Yeah, you should!' a few student's thought.
Aizawa began to walk away while explaining to the class what to expect from now on, "That's it for today, kids. Things are going to be tougher tomorrow, which is when your actual training begins. Make sure that you all come prepared!"
The students all watched Aizawa as he walked away from the field. A few of them were a bit put off by him and his harsh teaching methods, while others thought he was the right kind of man to teach them how to be proper heroes, since the job itself was pretty harsh.
Izuku just sighed in relief that the first day was already over and that no one got expelled. He defiantly didn't imagine his first day going like this, but it all worked out in the end.
(Some Time Later)
Izuku was waiting by the front gate for Tails as he texted him earlier today and asked if the two could walk home together since they were buddies after all. Tails agreed and that left Izuku waiting for his friend to exit the building.
"How long does it take for him to get here? If there's a crowd, he could just fly over it. We are allowed to use our Quirks here." complained Izuku as he patience was wearing thin.
"Midoriya, there you are!" called out a familiar voice. Izuku turned his head to face the direction of where the voice came from and saw Tenya Iida walking up to him while waving his arm in a robotic fashion.
"Iida! I wasn't expecting to see you again until tomorrow, what's up?" asked the green-haired teen as he offered his hand for a shake.
Tenya shook Izuku's hand while answering, "I wanted to see if you were alright after that fall you took during the Long Jump Test. It sounded like you didn't have a pleasant landing!"
"Hehe, it wasn't pleasant that all, I'll told ya!" chuckled Izuku nervously as he rubbed his bottom with his hand.
"I was also a bit concerned about Mr. Aizawa's teaching methods in class, but I believe this school's judgement can be trusted as it is one of the top schools for heroes in training after all, but lying to us students is simply immoral!" said Tenya as he voiced his displeasure of being lied to by a teacher on the first day.
"Hey, wait up you two!" called out another familiar voice. The two boys looked and saw Ochaco running up to them.
"Hey there, Uraraka! What brings you here?" smiled Izuku.
"I was wondering if we could walk to the train station together, since you're the only person that I've actually talked to since school started." replied the girl.
"Sure, I have no problem with that, I'm always up for making new friends. Oh! Uraraku, this is Iida. Iida, this is Uraraka. We're all in the same class, encase you didn't realized that yet for some reason." The green-haired boy introduced his two new friends to each other.
"A pleasure to meet you and to be learning how to be a great hero along side you, Uraraka!" said Iida as he shook her hand.
"Nice to meet you as well, Iida!" smiled Ochaco.
Izuku smiled as he now had more friends to make his high school experience an even bigger adventure! He couldn't wait until the more exciting stuff in his hero journey started!
Tenya decided that it was time to he and his new friends to head home for the day, "I believe it's time we head to the sta-"
"Actually, I was waiting for someone before you two got here. He's a friend of mine that I was planning to walk with, maybe we can all leave together once he gets here?" asked Izuku before Tenya could finish.
"Certainly, Midoriya. The more the merrier!" replied Tenya.
"What's your friend like?" asked Ochaco excitedly.
"He's awesome I tell ya! He's super creative, a great flyer, and his brain power is unlike anyone's you've ever seen before!" Izuku explained as he listed down the things that made Tails awesome in his eyes.
"Hey, Izuku!" called out another familiar voice. The three teens turned their head to see Tails wearing the U.A. uniform just like them as he walked up to them. Izuku quickly ran over to his buddy in less than two seconds and the two high fived each other.
"You actually manage to get in, didn't you!" laughed the green-haired teen.
"You didn't think that a simple written test was going to stop me, did you?" said the orange-haired teen with a smile.
The green speedster patted his friend on the shoulder, "True, you brain is your best weapon after all! Come and meet some of my new friends!"
Izuku led Tails to Tenya and Ochaco to introduce them, "Guys, this is my little buddy, Miles Prower, but you can call him by his nickname, Tails! Starting today, he is now part of U.A's Support Course. Tails, this is Tenya Iida and Ochaco Uraraka, my classmates from Class 1-A."
Tails nervously walked up to Tenya first and offered his hand to shake, "H-Hi, nice to meet one of Izuku's classmates."
Tenya quickly shook Tails hand as he greeted him, "The pleasure is all mine, Prower! If Midoriya sees you as a trustworthy friend then I 'am honored to get to know you better!"
Ochaco was the next one to shake his hand, "I'm Uraraka, it nice to meet you, Tails!"
Izuku smiled as he saw all of his new friends getting along with Tails. He was wondering when he should introduce them to Og and Sonikku, he'll think about that later in the near future.
"Alright, guys, we can talk while we head towards the station. I'm tired of just standing around here now." Izuku then started to walk at a quick pace and could be mistaken for jogging.
"Come on! He'll leave us in the dust if we don't hurry it up!" said Tails as he started running after his best friend.
"Midoriya, wait for us! It's rude to leave your classmates behind like this!" called out Tenya as he rush to catch up.
"Wait for me, guys!" laughed Ochaco as she ran to catch up to her new friends.
The first day of school may have ended, but more challenges were to come as the future of their hero journey was just beginning. However, the challenges that the future held were going to be a bit more than Izuku and his class could handle if they don't work hard enough to discover the secrets of the Chaos Emeralds!
What a way to end the year!
