Chapter 5:
**Disclaimer I own nothing**
The Dracula family was enjoying a for once quite uneventful meal when Renfield came in with a letter addressed to Vlad, which naturally Ingrid stole and read first. Vlad so resigned to this sort of behaviour from his blood relatives didn't even react. "it seems to be a summons to another meeting. They are treating you as if you their personal lap dog. You are a Dracula you should have more pride."
Vlad reached over and took the letter from Ingrid's hand and read the letter himself. "All I'm doing is exercising restraint, you to should try it sometime." Vlad explained.
"I hope you're not going to allow these wizards to use you like a tool Vladimir" the Count said in a stern tone
"I am not going to be used by anyone I just think that being on good terms with these wizards may be of use to us in the future, if their victory and rule of the magical community is as inevitable as they claim, then we shall reap the benefits of that and if they are lying then we then well, for their sake they better not be lying" Vlad said with little chuckle.
"That being so you're not just going to agree to their orders are you" Ingrid gestured to the letter now lying on the table.
"No what We are going to do instead is investigate this idea that was spoken of at the party, to discover if the ministry of magic is truly passing anti – vampire motions or if that was just said to get us join them" Vlad stood and walked out the room before turning at the door "and by we I mean you"
The three Death Eaters stood waiting on the street corner, growing steadily more irritated with each passing minute. "where is he?"
"The same place he was the last time you asked Carrow, not here" Lucius drawled as Amycus went on to threaten to apparate away. A comment which was ignored as all there new he would never disobey a direct command from the Dark Lord.
"And here I thought patience was a virtue" said a voice as a dark haired pale boy who looked no older than 16 and dressed like a muggle in a black leather jacket with a blood red T- shirt, black trousers and black boots stepped out of the shadows that had so well concealed his presence. "we have waited for you in the dark and the cold for hours, perhaps I should teach the little bloodsucker some manners" Carrow said drawing his wand and aiming it at the vampire. In a flash the vampire had the wizard pinned to the wall by the throat "You will speak to me with more respect or I will tare your tongue from your head" Vlad slowly released the terrified wizard and turned to the other two, who also now had wands raised, "now I believe I was summoned"
"Summoned is not the word I would use, we are here tonight to better introduce you to our now shared vision and to discuss the plan going forward" Lucius said in his most diplomatic tone. "Ah but I thought I was to be going over the plan with Your Master" he laced the last word with contempt"
"The Dark Lord is currently other wise engaged, but let me assure you I have his complete trust" Malfoy replied ignoring the obvious insult.
"Is that so" Vlad said with doubt clear in tone "I didn't come to speak to the flying monkeys but to their master, summon me again on false pretences and you'll be lunch." He threatened before disappearing into the darkness.
Vlad after leaving the wizards found himself perched on the top of a sky scraper doing what could only be described as brooding as he watched the city spread out below him, completely unaware of the of the nature of the predator that was currently above their heads. He had once thought he could live a normal life, a life without blood and violence where vampires and humans could live in peace but humans could not even live in peace with themselves. Even the wizards with their claims superiority where currently slaughtering each other all in name power. It made everything all seem pointless, no matter how much he wanted peace it seemed the nobody else did. It was at this point that Vlad's enhanced hearing picked up a loud scream originating in the city below. Vlad was resigned to do nothing when he heard the scream again and then again. Vlad pushed himself off the side of the building and went into a free fall, with Vlad thinking how freeing it felt with the wind rushing past him, half way towards the ground Vlad transformed into a bat and took off after the source of the screams.
She was terrified, completely and utterly terrified, she could smell the booze on his breath even as the knife pushed closer into her throat. "Scream for me" he said as he pushed the knife even harder, finally drawing blood when a voice said from the shadows "You took the words right out of my mouth" as her attacker was suddenly ripped off, she saw her chance and ran out of the alley calling for help.
Vlad dragged the man even deeper into the alley, into the dark and buried his fangs in his throat and drank his fill, beyond the point that would have turned him into a vampire, leaving him a bloodless corpse on the alley floor. Vlad sat down next to his victim deep in thought. He once swore that he would never drink blood let alone kill a person but yet here was next next to a man he had killed. That fact should have horrified him but the truth was it didn't, vampires killed out of hunger and blood lust but what excuse did that man have for what he was going to do that woman, that innocent. If he wasn't what he was and done what he did, what would have happened to her? After what sounded like approaching police sirens Vlad stood and coming to the conclusion that another bloodless body with puncture marks in the neck was likely to create awkward questions and come to the attention of the slayers. So Vlad thrust out his hand and willed the dead mans clothes to catch fire and hide the cause of death. Vlad then took flight and headed for home.
Ingrid was feeling quite pleased with herself she now had a seat on the High Council, yes the other members tried to ignore her but she had a few stratagems and schemes already in motion to get around that. Her brother Vlad's recent obsession with the wizards had given Ingrid more freedom to indulge in one of her favourite hobbies; hunting. Which was how she currently found herself in bat form hanging from a tree looking down at a group of 6 teenagers drinking around a campfire. She dropped down from the tree taking human form as she did, landing in a crouch, startling the drunk youths as she left the crouch, eyes red and fangs flashing. The sounds of screams and the dying filled the forest.
