Chapter 5

The building manager watched as Hawks 'Hmm-d' and 'Uh Huh-d' as he was looking at the damage done to the building.

The manager was annoyed that the hero was being short with him. As if the entire situation was amusing to him.

"The repairs can be done in a timely manner. In about a week's span. We just need your approval."

Hawks heard the guy but only stated a 'yeah. yeah.' as he felt his pocket vibrate.

Over the weekend he had organized all of the employees to be able to work from home and provided anyone with any tech they needed to fulfill their job.

So he really wasn't too concerned about the employees and heroes of the building. The building was old and the electric fire shouldn't have happened in the first place.

After pulling out his phone he realized that it wasn't his.

Pulling out the second phone he saw the calendar notification for 'Arc Industrial Architect Internship'.

And then as the clipboard was being handed to him he thought of an idea.

"Let's just rebuild the whole thing." He handed the clipboard back.

The building manager's face twitched, "Hawks. Sir. I wouldn't advise that. The damage was only on a single floor. We would be wasting mone-"

Hawks waved the man's words away, "Nah, this will be giving the community work and the employees and heroes are settled. Besides when I started my agency this building was empty. Now I can really make it my own."

The manager watched the glitter glowing in Hawks eyes as he thought of the idea.

He signed. There was never any reasoning with the man. His arm with the clipboard fell to his side.

"Alright. I will start contacting different companies-"

Hawks cut the man off again. "I got it, Ken." He winked at the man and looked at the phone in his hand, "I'm going to set up a meeting with Arc Industrial."

Turning back to the man, "I'll be sure to send you all the details."

Lyla headed to the office of Mr. Yamazaki. He was the man who was in charge of all things Arc Industrial.

When she arrived at the office there was a desk outside of the room.

"Hello, I'm Lyla and I'll be interning for Mr. Yamazaki."

The secretary looked up from the computer. "One moment." The elderly man picked up the phone and pressed a button.

"A company intern is here for you. May I send her in?"

The man nodded to himself, said a polite thanks and hung up the phone. "Mr. Yamazaki will be accepting you now."

The room was far more modern than the rest of the building. It also had elements that Lyla recognized were incorporating feng shui. Having things in specific areas of the room were supposed to help the energy flow.

Lyla bowed as she approached the man's desk.

The man looked Lyla up and down before he grunted. "You'll need to be sure to bring me my order of coffee everyday. I take it black with light sugar." He paused, "You'll want to take notes on your phone for this."

Lyla juggled her handbag and brought out a notebook and pen, "My apologies. My phone is currently out of order." She stood straight and started writing her daily errands.

When Ms. Izumi said that there was an errands assignment she was hoping that it would at least be related to her future career. Not just grunt work.

"Be sure that you get a new one. Andrews, my secretary, may need to contact you." He picked up his phone, "Andrews. Be sure that by the second day that-" He looked at her lanyard, "Ms. Lyla has a phone. If she doesn't then her internship will be suspended."

He placed the phone back down. "As I was instructing, Every morning, I take my coffee black with light sugar. With that I prefer a pastry of some sort. My lunch will be ordered by Andrews and you will simply be the one to pick it up and deliver it to me at my current location. Be mindful to ask Andrew of all these details." The man sighed and looked around the room.

It was like he was looking for things to assign the girl.

"I will let you know more as things come up." His phone rang and he answered.

Lyla could only hear one side of the conversation. The man was probably talking to Andrews out front. They were setting up a meeting that Mr. Yamazaki said to 'make the meeting ASAP'….basically.

She really tuned in when she heard Mr. Yamazaki tell Andrews to give herself a task.

Lyla didn't know what the task was but she knew that the man sounded excited about whatever the phone call was about.

After he had hung up the phone. He dialed another number.

Through the door she heard Andrews answer the phone.

Lyla sighed. It all felt ridiculous.

After the exchange on phone calls she was addressed.

"Be sure to speak with Andrews on your way out. We have an important lunch meeting we will need to set up for tomorrow. He will give you the details in regards to carting, room rentals, and any other accommodations."

He was about to wave her out of the room. "You may want to change into some flats. Because you lack a phone you'll have to do it all on foot."

Lyla put on a fake smile and headed out of the room.

The exchange with Andrews took some time. Before he could give me instructions he had to first figure out what the best accommodations were for the client.

In the end the list of things to do was relatively short.

She had to special order yakitori and sake from a five star hotel that was across town.

The room that she was to reserve was on the sixth floor. It was called 'The Grand View'.

There were also copies of paperwork that she had to have ready for the meeting tomorrow.

The list was fairly simple. It would be easier if she had a phone to make these phone calls.

"Andrews? Could you provide me with the time?"

"10:45 Ms."

"Do you know the details of Mr. Yamazaki's lunch today?"

" He will be having the Miso Soba and would like it delivered to his desk this evening at 1pm."

"Thank you Andrews. I will be running these errands now."

When Lyla went to the intern room where she had access to a computer she was surprised to see that she was alone.

She used the computer to make a reservation for the Grand View room and look up the directions for the yakitori restaurant.

Luckily the restaurant was on the way to her next destination. She checked her time and was glad to see that she was making good with it.

Hawks was walking the streets on his usual patrol route.

He had some of his feathers doing their rounds. Apprehending thieves and stopping kids from going into the roads.

Hawks stopped for pictures and autographs. And even had bits of conversation with the local kids.

He had hit up the KFC out of habit and made the best of it. It wasn't the same when the guy on the other side of the counter flirted back.

But seeing as the new counter boy was cute we made sure to put the guys number in his pocket this time. For use at a later date.

As he was walking out of the store with his new mini mustang racetrack featured toy he saw a sight that made him starting laughing instantly.

Lyla was out of breathe. Huffing for air and was wasn't wearing any shoes.

She caught sight of him laughing.

"Oh thank God I didn't miss you." He heard her as she bee lined her way to him.

"You were searching for me?" He knew she would be.

"Whatever for?" Without a doubt her phone.

Lyla saw through the child's play.

"How long did you realize you had my phone?" She demanded at him.

"When I got home that night." He shrugged.

"And you didn't bother to return it? We both know you know where I live."

He pulled the extra phone that he's been holding on to out of his pocket.

"Just to be clear. You do mean this one right?"

"Yes!" Hawks smirked even more as the woman whined and snatched the phone.

"You should probably have a password on that. You wouldn't want anyone to see the photos of your trip to Tokyo...or the two nudes."

He watched as Lyla went wide eyed at him.

"Really?"

He laughed, "Yeah. Cyber security is kinda a big deal."

She huffed and was about to turn away.

"Hey, Birdie. How'd the internship go?" He watched her arch a brow at him.

"It's going very well. And it's only going to get better. Thank you Hawks For being a good hero and returning my phone. I'm sure I won't be seeing you again for a long while."
