I was in the training room early the next morning because I couldn't sleep anymore. I was throwing axes at a target when I heard footsteps. I turned to see Thor coming towards me as I gave him a small smile.
"You are doing well, Parker." he said as he picked one up and threw it effortlessly.
"Thanks." I said and he chuckled.
"Why are you up so early?" he asked me and I shrugged.
"I know that my brother is an idiot, but don't worry about him." he said and I gave a small chuckle as I nodded. Loki was an idiot.
"Yes, but he's a charming idiot who makes everyone like him." I said and he chuckled.
"That is true... he's charmed most of the people in his life, but you are different." he said as he chuckled another axe at the target. I shook my head and threw one as well... it felt nice to get the anger out.
"I thought I was different." I admitted and he smirked.
"You are, trust me, and Fandral is nice." he said and I felt myself blush as he chuckled. I talked to Thor and threw more axes as more people came into the training room.
"Nice outfit." Sif said as she walked up to us.
"Thanks, missing home a little bit today." I admitted as I looked down at my comfortable jeans, sneakers, and t-shirt I was wearing. She chuckled and nodded.
"Nice practice." she said and I chuckled.
"Thor helped." I said and he shook his head.
"It was all her." he said and I chuckled as Hogun and Fandral came into the room. I gave a small smirk at Fandral and he nudged me when he walked past.
We all decided what was going to happen today. The guys were going to go check on other realms once Volstagg woke up, Sif and I were going to train some more, and we were all going to meet up tonight. I was glad to get out of actually doing things today since I had slept bad and kept thinking about a certain asshole.
"Come on, we aren't training." Sif said once the guys walked out and I chuckled. I followed her until we were a little below the city on some trails that ran near the water. She stopped us when we came to a large set of gates. I looked at her with a raised eyebrow, but she shrugged it off before letting us through. We were in rock tunnels that were painted in old frescos and murals. I was looking around in shock as I trailed behind her.
"Where are we?" I asked her.
"Some place girls can talk without being heard. The palace has ears, and after last night I figured you didn't want anyone else knowing or thinking they know what's going on with you and the god of mischief." she said and I looked at her strange as I realized it was getting more humid and warmer.
"Basically, no matter what you think Asgard likes to talk about others, and right now you are the talk of the town." she said and I ran a hand through my hair... great I had become gossip... my favorite thing. We went through another gate as it got hotter and we finally walked out into a beautiful underground hot spring where the ceiling looked like stars in the night sky, and the water was blue clear. I realized these were much nicer than the ones I had been in the other day.
"I thought we could have a girls day." a voice said and I turned to see Frigga. She hugged me and I nodded. We all got into clothes for getting into the springs, and they brought us wine. We were drinking and talking. Helga joined us a little bit later, and I was glad to have a girls day.
"I'm sorry my son is an asshole." Frigga said and I chuckled as I sipped wine.
"I am the idiot who fell for him." I mumbled.
"Just wait, dear... He will come around. He does this to everyone, but you are different." Helga said and I shook my head as Sif chuckled.
"You all keep saying that." I said and Frigga nodded.
"You are... he gave you his symbol." she said and I shook my head.
"I took it off." I said and they all looked at each other.
"You can't." Helga said and I looked at her strange.
"Check your left hip." Sif said and I looked at the strange. I moved so I wouldn't flash anyone and looked down to see Loki's symbol on my hip like a birthmark. I looked from it to them and back to it, as they chuckled at me.
"Loki knew what he was doing, and he knows that he wants you around... he's just scared." Helga said and I leaned my head back against the smooth rocks as I let out a breath.
"What if I change my mind?" I asked them.
"The mark will fade with your feelings." Frigga confirmed and I nodded. I wasn't sure how I felt that I had been almost branded without realizing it. We sat down there, and continued to drink for most of the day. I wasn't complaining because it was nice to not worry about being an ambassador for one day.
We got done and I headed back to my room to bathe and get ready for tonight. We were all going to eat together. I was almost to my door when I looked up to see Loki standing beside it. I figured it was a hologram, so I walked past it, but I felt his hand on my arm... he was really here. I looked from his hand to his face, and I saw remorse, but I wasn't sure if it was real or not.
"Can we talk?" he asked me and I smirked.
"Find me tonight." I said and walked into my room without another word. I cleaned up, got ready, and walked to the throne room. I had put on a purple dress with grey accents, and a a black shawl. I couldn't believe it, but I had gotten used to wearing dresses now.
"You look beautiful." a voice said and I turned to see Loki walked up to me. He was in his green and gold leather outfit, and I gave a small smile.
"Come with me tonight?" he asked me and extended his hand. I thought for a second and finally took it. I was leaving with him when I saw Sif looking at me, and I smirked at her. She gave a knowing smile as she went to find everyone else. I followed Loki down to the water,and he lead me to a boat. He helped me in, and he steered us towards the cliffs before stopping the boat.
I was looking up at the beautiful night sky, and felt him watching me.
"You figuring out how to drowned me out here?" I asked him and he cracked a small smile.
"Hurting people is not my style." he said and I raised an eyebrow at him and shook my head.
"Bullshit... if anything I would say it's your specialty." I said and he chuckled as he nodded.
"I suppose you are right, and you are the one person I am sorry that I hurt." he said and I looked at him.
"I know that I am just a stupid mortal who doesn't comprehend living for thousands of years, but I do understand having exes or being hurt by people." I said and he looked at me. I didn't really because I had dated a guy for 2 days before talking to Loki... but it sounded good.
"I know you have heard the rumors." he said and I nodded. I had heard more than I ever wanted to know.
"I know that you have an ex-wife, and a few ex lovers here." I said and he nodded.
"The ex-wife isn't here anymore... she went else where. The ex-lovers were flings... that I kept on a string." he said and I nodded.
"I know you are the god of mischief, but that's not nice. I didn't come to Asgard to make a prince fall for me, find my soulmate, or be strung along by some asshole who is scared of commitment or whatever the fuck you are scared of right now." I said and he nodded again without saying anything.
"I am sorry, Parker." he said and I let out a heartless chuckle as I shook my head.
"You couldn't even confront me in person last night, Loki... should I really believe that?" I asked him and he sighed.
"Yes, you should... and I am sorry that I did that to you. I am scared." he said and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Scared? Of what? You gave me your symbol... you pursued me only to have it turn into you getting bored of me." I said and he ran a hand through his hair.
"I'm scared of what comes next. I'm scared that I will never be good enough for you. You are from midgard... you know other things. I am not Thor... I am just an adopted son of Odin." he said and I pursed my lips. I realized right then that Loki would never be in this relationship because he had already played the entire thing out through his mind.
"Take me back please." I said and he looked at me with surprise. He nodded and didn't say anything else before taking us back. We walked to the palace in silence and I looked at him as we approached the throne room.
"Thank you, Loki." I said and he looked confused.
"For letting me be the one person who fell in love with the god of mischief not because he was the trickster god, but because I got to see the real side of him. I saw that he was kind, caring, loving, and a gentleman... so thank you for that honor... I feel as if I might be the only one." I said and he looked at me surprised. I held out my hand and he opened his. I dropped the broken necklace in his hand and he nodded.
"I will win you over." he said and I chuckled.
"You already did, but were too stupid to realize it." I said and walked back to my room without looking back. I got back to my room, locked the door, sat on the bed, and did something I hadn't done in a long time... I cried... because it hurt.
