"You will have fun." Sif said as we walked to the tavern. I had said I would go before Loki cornered me about tomorrow night.

"Thank you." I said and she smiled at me as we walked inside and it was exactly what I had pictured. The large room was filled with rows of tables, people drinking, and a large fireplace as people roamed around the bar and food was being passed around to everyone. We were immediately pulled over to the table with Thor, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg. They were talking to different people as women kept trying to talk to them. Thor pulled Sif to him and Fandral moved over to let me sit with him, and the women all were glaring daggers at us.

"I take it my brother has asked you to go with him?" Thor asked me the question that they all wanted to know, and I nodded.

"Yes, and I agreed because I felt like I had to." I admitted and he nodded as he got ready to say something as the door opened and people cheered. We all turned to look to see Loki coming in and I put my head down. I didn't want to be seen.

"Lady Parker, I believe that I promised to help you with something." Fandral said and I gave a smile as he winked at me.

"Yes, and thank you for meeting me here first." I said and he smiled at me. Sif and Thor were chuckling as Hogun shook his head. Volstagg was flirting with a woman that had walked up beside him, and he wasn't even sure what we were doing. He was on his 4th grog since I had gotten there so I wasn't sure what he really could be focusing on. Loki spotted us as he walked further into the tavern and headed towards us.

"Fandral, go on back to the palace for your shift, and Lady Parker can help you." Thor said sounding official when Loki walked up with a grog of dark liquid that everyone else was drinking.

"Hello, everyone." Loki said he sat beside Hogun who toasted with him.

"Brother, Fandral and Parker are just going back to the palace." he said as Loki glanced at me but I was standing up with Fandral.

"Why do you need Parker?" Loki asked Thor.

"She wanted to see what a round is and I wanted Fandral to take her." Thor said and he looked at me. I nodded as Fandral drained his grog and we told everyone goodbye. Sif hugged me and we walked out without another word. Fandral offered me his arm as we walked out and I took it.

"Thank you." I said and he smiled at me.

"You will have to deal with him enough tomorrow." he said and I smirked.

"True." I said as we were walking to the palace when I realized that he didn't eat anything because we left.

"Oh, you didn't eat anything." I said and he chuckled.

"I have a plan." he said and I raised an eyebrow as he pulled me away from the route to the palace, and we stopped at a small house on the edge of the river. He knocked and smiled at me as the door opened.

"Ah, brother." the man said as he pulled him in for a hug.

"Thank you for letting us join you for dinner. I brought Parker." he said and I thought I was going to shake his hand, but instead I was pulled in for a hug as I saw his wife and two children in the house near a fireplace.

"Let them in, Erik." the woman said and he let us in before shutting the door.

"Parker, this is my brother, Erik, and his wife Astra. That's Bo and Gro." he said pointing to a little boy and a little girl who were twins. I waved at them and they became shy as they ran behind their mother.

"Thank you for coming, Parker." Erik said and I smiled at him. I hadn't really gotten to go see and be with a family in their home. The home was cozy, and it felt homey... it made me miss where I grew up.

"Thank you for letting me join you all." I said and I started helping Astra put things down as Fandral was playing with the twins with his brother. We sat down and had a wonderful meal as we talking about their life, and they wanted to know about Midgard. They were most surprised at finding out that we didn't ride horses and that we all didn't have farms. We had fun talking to them and we left much later than I realized. Fandral offered me his arm as we walked back to the palace.

"Thank you for letting me join your family tonight." I said and he smiled at me.

"I know that you are here to learn about his and we can learn from you... so seeing a real family wouldn't hurt anything." he said and I smiled at me.

"No, and it made me miss where I grew up." I said and he smiled at me.

"Where did you grow up?" he asked me as we walked.

"We had a farm with animals, and crops. My mom hated it, but my dad loved it. He taught me everything from hunting, to growing plants, and fishing. The life was simple and I miss it some days." I said and he smiled at me.

"You grew up much like us." he said and I smiled at him.

"Except I didn't turn out to be a warrior." I joked and he chuckled.

"You can throw an axe with deadly accuracy." he said and I smirked.

"That's not a skill." I said and he smirked at me.

He walked me to my room and I smiled at him. I kissed his cheek and went in for the night. I hadn't been looking forward to tonight, but it turned out better than I thought it would.

Loki POV

I was walking through the throne room the next morning when my mother called my name. I turned to see her on the balcony and I went out there. She was sitting looking at the river below. I sat with her and she looked at me.

"What's bothering you?" she asked me and I smirked. She always knew what was wrong... I had always been closer to her than my father.

"I invited Parker tonight." I said and she nodded.

"You like her." she started and I finally nodded in confirmation.

"But she was walking around with Fandral last night, and not you." she said and I took a deep breath.

"She isn't happy with me." I said and she nodded.

"Is it because you took her for granted?" she asked me and I looked at her surprised.

"You embarrassed her, Loki. You gave her your symbol for everyone to see, and then you ignored her. You showed everyone that you were with your ex, who is an ass, and then you wonder why she won't talk to you." she said and I ran a hand through my hair. I knew that she was right. I had done all that.

"I can't believe that you would treat her like that. She's been there to help you, she sees you, and believe it or not she really did like you." she said and I nodded. She wasn't making me feel better.

"I get it. I fucked up. I know it, but I... I'm scared. She will eventually see someone better, or..." I was saying when she cut me off.

"Or you're scared. You might actually be happy, but you don't know what to do." she said and I nodded.

"Loki, you are the god of mischief, but that's not all you are... don't let that define you for everything you do." she said and kissed my cheek before leaving me on the balcony. I sat there for a minute and I knew that she was right. I was scared that Parker actually made me happy. I had to decide right then... did I want to show her the real Loki? Or would the god of mischief be all that I really am?
