The soft snow hit my window as I waited for him. It's been about four months since we graduated and last saw each other. I know today was going to be a good day, even though it was snowing, and I didn't care so much for snow. Everything had to be perfect. How could I rest when I wanted him to be here?
Oh, right! I realize I never told you, my name; it's Scorpius Malfoy. I may be the only child of Draco Malfoy, but I like to think we've changed since my father was a child. I was sitting in my room, looking out the window, watching the snow, and waiting for his beautiful face to show up at my door. It's true that I still lived with my father, but I only planned to stay for a year, or until we could find a place. A small giggle escaped my mouth as I thought of my surprise for Albus. Oh, I hoped he would love it. However, I knew he had to get here soon, and the snow had to stop. I hugged my pillow tightly as the snow grew heavier.
"Where are you, Al?" I muttered, hugging the pillow tighter.
I knew I was acting like a child, but I didn't care. My eyes closed for a moment before I opened them just in time to see Albus's messy black hair.
"Al!" I cried, jumping out of the window seat.
The pillow fell out of my arms as I ran out of my room. I flew down the stairs.
"I got it, Father!" I called, opening the door.
A rush of chilly air hit me in the face. I could feel the tears in my eyes freeze, but the sight of my boyfriend made me smile.
"Al!" I called, pulling him into the warmth of my father's house and into my arms. Albus giggled as I swung him around.
"Scorpius! What is this all about?" Albus asked me once I pulled him out of my arms. Then I wiped the happy tears from my eyes and smiled.
"I'm just happy to see you," I answered. He smiled; oh, how I loved that smile.
"I'm happy to see you as well, Scorp. Man, I'm so glad I got here before the snow got heavier," Albus said, taking off his coat and hanging it on the hook on the wall.
I laughed nervously before I pulled him in for another hug. Then I took his hand and we walked up the stairs to my room.
The snow stopped a few minutes after Albus arrived. That was a good thing because I had a plan. I knew Al wouldn't mind and I was just so happy that he was here at last. I just watched him sit at my desk, talking about James's pranks and Lily trying to join in. I laughed as I glanced out my window and smiled. "Do you want to go outside? I know it's a little cold but..."
Albus nodded as I trailed off.
"Of course, Scorp," Albus said with a bright smile. We stood together. Soon his hand was in mine, and we walked out of my room.
The chilly wind blew as we walked to the pond in my father's backyard. I told Albus to close his eyes. I led him up to the pond and smiled. I let go of his hand and walked over to where I had the lights set up. I hoped he would say yes to what I had written in these muggle Christmas lights that I bought. I turned them on before I stood up and blinked at the brightness. "Ok, Al, you can open your eyes," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. Albus opened his eyes and gasped at the string of lights shaped to spell out the words:
'Would you move in with me?'
Next to it, I had placed a picture of our new home. I told Father that I didn't need any help with buying it, but he had insisted. He also told me that he kept it a secret from my grandfather. I saw Albus move to the ice sculptures I had made of us and looked at the key in the ice hand. Albus stood there for a while with his mouth open. I rubbed my hands nervously. I then looked up at Albus, who wiped the tears from his eyes with his gloved hand and walked over to me. He smiled but I still felt tense.
"You made this? Just to ask me to move in with you?" Albus asked in a quiet voice. He didn't sound mad, which made me smile tentatively. I nodded and motioned him to take the key. He smiled and took the key, running it over his hand.
"Do you like it?" I asked in the bright light. Albus looked around him. His eyes shone in the green and silver lights. I could not help but giggle at how cute he looked in the shining pond. The snow shone around us as well. However, his green eyes were more beautiful than all of the lights combined.
"I... I love it. I would love to live with you. This is beautiful. The way the light shines on the frozen water. I love you so much," Albus said, walking over to me and pulling me into a hug. Tears poured from my eyes. Albus hugged me close. I could tell that he must be crying as well. "Has…has your dad seen this?" Albus asked, pulling me out of his arms, but his hand still held onto mine. I shook my head and wiped the tears from my eyes. Albus led me to the back door and opened it.
"Mr. Malfoy. You must see what Scorp did with the pond. Oh, it's the most beautiful thing ever," Albus cried. He sounded happier than I had ever heard him. This made my heart swell. My father laughed and walked over to the door. He looked at the pond and smiled.
"Wow!" was all he said. However, I knew he was proud. He nodded at me approvingly and walked back through the door. Albus smiled at me, and he led me back to the pond. We then sat down on the stairs and looked at the warmth and love that I had put into my surprise. The lights shone in the fresh snow. I worried a little about our future together, but Albus seemed to notice that I needed some reassurance and held my hand to make me feel better.
