Friends with the Mercs

Chap 3: Pyro part 2

"So, he is part of a group comprised out of him and eight other mercenaries." Coco surmised.

"Yes." I answered while looking towards Pyro, who was next to us and riding his balloonibouncer.

After the incident with Team Crdl and Velvet, Coco suggested that she and her team get to know us better. Although, we all knew that it wasn't a suggestion but rather a demand. Yet, out of all the places she could have chosen to bring a pyromaniac to, she decided on Junior's bar. And now, as I'm answering all their questions, I'm also constantly looking towards Pyro to make sure he doesn't get tempted to start a fire. Thankfully, he was too distracted with riding his balloonibouncer to create one.

"Where they fight a war against a team that looks exactly like them only in Blue uniforms instead of Red?" Yatsuhashi asked.

"Where they fight for gravel and hats?" Velvet asked, confused.

"Pretty much." I answered. From the corner of my eye, I saw Fox motion to Yatsuhashi.

"Fox says this doesn't make any sense." He told me.

"Yeah. Where the mercenaries are from, nothing makes sense. It's best to accept that unless you want to become crazy like them." I warned.

"I don't doubt you. But I want to know is that if he's an arsonist, what are the other mercenaries' specialties?" Coco asked, curious.

"There is the Scout, the Soldier, the Pyro, the Demo, the Heavy, the Engineer, the Medic, the Sniper, and the Spy. You can probably figure out their specialties from their name alone." I answered.

"Most I can guess. But not sure about the heavy? What's his?" Yatsuhashi asked.

"Heavy is short for Heavy Weapons Guy. He wields a giant minigun that fires custom ammo." I answered.

"Fox says it sounds like a video game." Coco told me.

"Kinda does. But it's real. And they are all insane. Some more than others, though." I agreed.

"How do you know so much about them?" Velvet asked.

"I grew up with them. Well, for most of my life." I answered.

"I thought you were born into the Arc family?" Coco asked, confused.

"That is a story for another time as it's very long and confusing to explain." I answered. Velvet seemed like she was about to ask something but was cut off when a new voice shouted towards us.

"HEY!" The voice shouted. Turning, we saw the Malachite Twins walking towards us.

"Great. Those two." Coco said, annoyed.

"You know them?" I asked, turning to her.

"They are the nieces of Junior and act as bouncers. They are also total bitches." She answered with a glare directed at the Twins.

"We can hear you, you know." The red twin said, pissed.

"You were meant to." Coco growled out. "What do you two want?"

"For any of one of you to get your strange friend off the stage." The white twin answered while pointing to the stage that was on the other side of the club.

Looking towards the stage, I saw the horrifying sight of Pyro walking on stage and looking around in confusion. The band had stopped playing while the crowd was getting frustrated at the lack of entertainment. Knowing a fight could easily break out, I immediately got up and rushed over to the stage. Unfortunately, the crowd was preventing me from getting to the stage.

'This won't end well. Hopefully, Engineer found a way to convert cash to lien as this will be quite expensive.' I mentally prayed when I noticed that the crowd was getting restless and rowdy. Looking back to Pyro, I saw that he picked up an instrument the band had. Only for it to mysteriously catch on fire before turning to ash not a second later. Shocking everyone and infuriating the band members.

"HEY! That-" One of the members began but went quiet when Pyro turned his gaze onto him. "You know what. Never mind."

"HEY, GET OFF THE STAGE!" A drunk yelled.

"PLAY THE MUSIC!" Another demanded.

Yet, to the surprise of everyone else in the room, Pyro pulled out a fiddle and bow from behind nowhere. The crowd became confused yet went quiet all the same. Although, everyone did become scared when the bow suddenly caught on fire, with the strings of the violin catching fire as well. Everyone became panicked at the possibility of a fire breaking out. The Twins even rushed to the back and returned with some employees and fire extinguishers. The next couple of seconds were tense; not a single sound was heard throughout the entire bar.

The silence only being broken when Pyro starts playing the fiddle. At first, he went slow only to quickly pick up speed as he continued to play while also dancing. There was no need to say, but everyone was speechless at how well Pyro was playing the fiddle. Even the band was impressed with Pyro's skills. The patrons that weren't drunk beyond belief were even dancing along. After a few minutes, Pyro finished his performance before giving a bow.

"I honestly did not expect that." Coco commented, surprised at what she had just witnessed. Only to nearly jump in surprise when the violin and bow mysteriously turn to ash.

"Yeah. Who would have thought an arsonist could play the fiddle?" Yatsuhashi asked, shocked while the rest of the crowd clapped and cheered.

"Does he know how to play other instruments, Jaune?" Velvet asked, curious.

"Um. Pyro knows how to play the fiddle, the piano, and the electric guitar. I do believe that the Engineer is also teaching Pyro how to play the banjo." I answered.

"ENCORE!" The crowd cheered. Pyro seemed delighted by this as he clapped while hopping in place. And then, from nowhere again, he pulled out an electric guitar before performing a solo with lightning and fire happening all around him. This had a split reaction from the crowd as some ran away in fright while the rest continued to cheer.

"Alright. Alright. Come on, Pyro. We still have a few things we need to do before heading to my place." I said as I finally managed to push my way through the crowd, thanks to most of them running away in fright.

"Rock, Paper, Scissors." He mumbled while clenching his right hand and putting it over his left. Smiling, I went along and got ready.

"1, 2, 3." We said together before throwing out our choices. Pyro's choice was rock, while mine was scissors.

"Nice work, you little rascal." I said while he cheered.

"While that was a nice moment, we better get out of here before a fire does break out. Not to mention, the last time Yang wrecked this place, it cost her a fortune." Coco said as she and the rest of her team walked onto the stage.

"Right." I agreed, knowing that there is no such thing as minimal damage when the 2Fort mercenaries are involved. "Come on, Pyro."

"Hoo! Hud hudda." Pyro mumbled before summoning ice skates on his feet. He then proceeded to skate around before following us out of the bar.

"Fox wonders what other tricks Pyro can do." Yatsuhashi told me. Pyro stopped skating before taking out a balloon. He then proceeded to inflate it and create the balloonicorn from it.

"Cute." Velvet said, smiling at the floating balloonicorn. Only for her eyes to widen in fear when Pyro took out a lighter and lit the balloonicorn on fire. It then proceeded to fly around us before bursting into flames and ash.

"Neat. Well, we best be heading back to Beacon as we have to study for tests coming up." Coco said, turning to me. "What about you, blondie? Are you and Pyro going to be joining us?"

"No. Technically, I'm now no longer a student of Beacon. Short reason being Ozpin." I answered.

"Figures. Well, hopefully, we'll see each other soon." Velvet said with a pout which caused the rest of her team to laugh.

"Whoo. Hoo, hoo! Hudda!" Pyro mumbled while bending his knees and interlocking his hands while staring at Coco.

"What's he doing?" She asked, confused.

"He wants to help you do a flip. Just use his hands as a platform to do a backflip." I explained. She seemed surprised before smirking. She then gave Velvet her purse before jumping onto Pyro's hands. He then threw her into the air, where she did an impressive double backflip.

"Hud, hudda, hud hah." Pyro mumbled as Coco flawlessly landed on her feet.

"Been a while since I did that." Coco said as she took back her purse.

However, she almost dropped it when she quickly pushed Velvet, Fox, and Yatsuhashi behind a nearby car for cover. Pyro and I were confused but understood why when a grenade landed in front of us. Not wasting a second, I picked it up and threw it to Pyro, where he air blasted high into the sky and detonated safely. Looking around, we tried to find who threw the grenade but got our answer when we saw a man with a stylish bowler hat and cane walk up to us. Behind him were numerous White Fang members who, to my horror, had Grimm in cages with them. But I didn't recognize any of the Grimm as they all seemed to have been experimented on, evident by the glowing green spikes on their back.

"Quick reflexes, you got, kid." The figure that I instantly recognized as Roman said as he walked up to us. Next to him was his partner in crime, Neo.

"You're going to need some as well, Roman." Coco warned as she and her team already had their weapons out. Hearing the doors of Junior's bar open, we turned around noticed that Junior, the Twins, and some employees were coming out with weapons of their own.

"What's going here?" Junior demanded. However, he narrowed his eyes in pure hatred when he saw Roman. "You."

"Junior. Sorry about the inconvenience. But, my boss wants us to test some new creations and weapons." Roman said with a smirk.

"Cut the crap, Roman." Junior seethed.

"Nothing personal, Junior, just going where the money is. Besides, not like I had much of a say in it anyway." Roman said in a tone that told us he did not care what or how this happened.

"Well, as much as it pains me to say this, it looks like we might need to work together to escape this one." Coco said to the Twins while tilting her head towards the Grimm that the White Fang had brought with them.

"The feeling is mutual." The Twins agreed.

"Sorry, kids, but I can't let that happen." Roman said as he adjusted the grip on his cane while Neo smiled cruelly and opened up her parasol.

'Crap, crap, crap.' I thought while desperately trying to find a solution out of this mess. Despite how many White Fang and Grimm there were here, Pyro could easily handle all of them. But that's the problem. He can quickly go into a Pyroland frenzy and easily set all of Vale ablaze.

"And since the blond kid reminds me of the little red riding hood, I'll start with him." Roman said while lifting his cane and pointing it at me. I was confused as to what he was about to do, but it became apparent when the bottom opened up, revealing that his can also acted as a gun. He smirked when he saw the realization dawn upon my face and pulled the trigger of his cane which shot a flare towards us. However, to everyone's surprise, right before the flare struck me, it flew right back at him at twice the speed. Unfortunately, the flare missed as Neo pulled Roman to safety. Yet, despite missing its initial target, the flare did crit kill three White Fang members behind them.

"That was...unexpected." Junior said, shocked at what he had just witnessed. However, my attention was on Pyro, who pulled out his rainblower as some music started to play around him. Even though only I could hear it, I knew without a doubt what was about to happen.

"Um. Junior." I said, turning to him.

"What kid?" He asked, annoyed.

"Unless you want your nieces killed or traumatized, I suggest you bring them back into the bar and barricade the doors." I warned him. Although it only made him and everyone else confused.

"You don't need to worry-" The red twin began, annoyed, yet she couldn't finish what she was saying due to Pyro getting everyone's attention.

"MMPH MPHNA MPRH." He shouted while raising his rainblower above his head.

"Um, Jaune. What's he doing?" Coco asked nervously.

"Get ready for a blood bath." I answered, sweating in fear.

"What are you all standing around for. Get them." Roman ordered pissed.

The White Fang seemed hesitant yet pulled out their weapons anyway. However, this proved fatal as Pyro let out a battle cry before charging at them. As soon as he got near them, he set all around him ablaze. Pain screams quickly filled our ears as the smell of burning flesh assaulted our senses. And while I had become used to the smell, the others hadn't as evident by them all ready emptying their stomach of whatever they had eaten today.

'Just imagine their reaction when they learn about Pyroland.' I thought as more pained screams filled the air.

Turning back to the fight, I saw that Pyro had already wiped out about thirty White Fang members. However, what seemed to disturb the White Fang the most was that Pyro was hopping all around the place. The White Fang quickly realized that they were no match for Pyro and his flamethrower. At least, up close, they didn't.

"FIRE THE ROCKETS!" A White Fang member shouted.

A few others came up with rocket launchers and other explosives. Yet again, this proved fatal as Pyro reflected all the explosives at them. The reflected explosives killed all of them and sent their guts flying through the air. Needless to say, after seeing their allies getting blown up and getting covered in their blood, the remaining White Fang either fainted or ran away in fear. Some tried to take cover in buildings or stores. Unfortunately, this only sealed their fate as Pyro used either his fire ax or anything he found lying around to seal them in before lighting the building on fire.

"SHIT! RELEASE THE GRIM!" One remaining White Fang ordered before being set ablaze and becoming ash a second later.

"DON'T!" Roman yelled but was too late as the remaining White Fang freed the Grimm. Unfortunately, the Grimm burst forth from the cage before swiftly killing the White Fang that let them out. Once there was nothing left, the Grimm turned to Pyro and growled. Yet, to our confusion, it seemed that Pyro and the Grimm were communicating.

"What's he doing now?" Junior asked green in the face yet managed to keep himself together for the most part.

"It seems like they are communicating with each other. But it looks like whatever Pyro and the Grimm were talking about broke down." I answered while pointing towards them.

They turned to where I was pointing at and noticed that Pyro was letting out a fierce battle cry while taking out his Sharpened Volcano Fragment. The Grimm roared in challenge before charging at him. Yet, despite whatever was done to these Grimm, it wasn't enough as Pyro quickly and brutally killed them like he did the bear in Russia. After a few seconds, all the Grimm were dead, yet Pyro kept beating their heads to a bloody pulp with his Sharpened Volcano Fragment and inadvertently sending bone fragments everywhere.

"Pyro. Pyro. PYRO!" I shouted while running towards him. Careful not to step in any blood puddles or the charred remains of the Grimm.

"Mmmph?" He mumbled as he stopped the carnage.

"I think you got them." I told him as I finally reached him.

"Hudda, hudda." He mumbled before getting off the Grimm while putting away his Sharpened Volcano Fragment. He then raised his right arm in a fist.

"Alright. Alright." I said, chuckling before fist-bumping him. However, the sound of someone clapping caught our attention. Turning around, we saw Roman and Neo walking towards us. Both had a look of disgust as they stepped around the dead, charred bodies.

"You friend indeed turned all this around. Our boss would undoubtedly like to know about this." Roman said, glaring at Pyro. "And I have no doubt she would like to kill your friend."

"That is if you can inform her." Coco threatened. Looking around, we saw Fox, The Twins, Junior, and his grunts, come up next to us. All of their weapons were drawn and aimed at Roman and Neo. Although, they were each struggling not to vomit or faint. Looking past them, we saw Yatsuhashi taking care of a passed-out Velvet.

"What makes you think you have us?" Roman questioned with a smirk. We were confused about what he meant but received our answer when Neo showed us a remote. However, her grin turned to confusion when the remote suddenly flew out of her hand.

"You were saying, Roman?" A voice asked. Turning to where it came from, we saw a furious Glynda Goodwitch approaching us with the remote in her hand. Behind her are Team Rwby, my team, Ozpin, and a few other fully-fledged huntsmen that happened to be in the area.

"Great." Roman growled out, annoyed.

"You and your friend certainly caused immense damage in such a short time Jaune." Ozpin commented as his gaze swept over all the dead bodies, Grimm, and burning buildings.

"Uh, no. This is not immense damage. This is what we would consider a minor scuffle. Pray to Oum that you never see the actual damage that Pyro can inflict onto others." I said while recalling all the times Pyro almost destroyed entire towns in a single afternoon.

"JAUNE!" Pyrrha shouted as she rushed over to me before enveloping me in a tight hug. "Are you okay?"

"None of you will be." Roman remarked, getting our attention. Turning to him, we realized that all the pain and misery had attracted the attention of all nearby Grimm. And judging by the amount there were, we realized they could very quickly overwhelm us.

"This will be close." One of the huntsmen said as she readied her weapon. But to our surprise, a familiar voice to me shouted, getting our attention.

"HEAVY LOADS INCOMING!" The voice shouted as two red toolboxes landed near Roman and Neo.

"Wait. Aren't those the same toolboxes that transformed into a teleporter before?" Ren asked.

"Not quite. But it will help us all." I answered with a smirk. Turning to the toolboxes, we noticed they had opened up, and sentry guns were now being constructed. As soon as they finished reconstructing themselves, they began to fire on all the Grimm that were quickly approaching us. And in less than a few seconds, nearly all the Grimm were killed. The remaining Grimm were taken out by Glynda and the other huntsmen. Once all the Grimm were gone, the sentry guns aimed at Roman and Neo.

"Well, don't that beat all." The voice said as footsteps came up behind us. Turning around, Pyro and I saw the familiar sight of the Engineer walking towards us.

"Hey, Engineer." I greeted while raising my hand for a hi-5.

"Good to see you, Jaune." He replied while slapping my hand. He then began to look around at all the destruction. "Looks like I came just in time."

"Mmmph. Huda, hudda." Pyro mumbled to the Engineer.

"Good job Pyro." Engineer smiled while patting Pyro's head.

"Who are you? Are you one of Jaune's friends?" Ozpin asked.

"Yep. The Engineer. At your service." He answered while giving a friendly smile. Though, he did become surprised when Ruby zoomed up to him.

"How did you do that?" She asked with stars in her eyes while pointing to the sentry guns.

"Sorry, miss. Trade secret." He answered before laughing at her pout.

"Well, whatever your secret is, you helped in capturing two most notorious criminals." Ozpin told him.

"No problem." Engineer said before taking out his PDA and pressing a button. "Now, who's hurt?"

"No one really, as Pryo took care of everything before you arrived." Coco answered.

"Well, don't hurt to be sure." Engineer said before taking out another toolbox and placing it on the ground. He gave it a light kick which caused it to open and begin to construct a dispenser. Once done, it began to spread its healing to everyone.

"Um, what's it doing?" Glynda asked, concerned as a red stream came from the dispenser to her.

"This is a dispenser. Stand near it, and it will heal you while also replenishing your ammo. No matter type of ammo you need, it will fully restock it." I explained.

"Well, thank you for the help. But now we would like to take you back to Beacon to discuss a few things." Ozpin told Engineer.

"Nope." Engineer replied as the sounds of police and ambulance greeted our ears.

"Excuse me?" Ozpin asked, surprised.

"You heard me." Engineer said while taking out his Frontier Justice that was crit boosted.

"You are all coming with us. Despite you and this monster fending off Roman, Neo, and the White Fang, you both still caused countless amounts of damage. Not to mention that this monster burned down a few city blocks." Glynda warned while tightening her grip on her weapon before pointing it at Pyro, who was playing a miniature piano.

"We have you outnumbered and cornered." Ozpin stated as the police arrived and started surrounding us.

"You think so." Engineer chuckled along with Pyro before turning to me. "Still got that teleporter up and running at your place?"

"Yup." I answered, smiling while internally groaning as I knew what he was getting at. He smiled while taking out a fancy-looking wrench.

"What is that?" Weiss asked while pointing her weapon at us.

"The Eureka Effect little snow girl." He answered, laughing.

"What do you plan on doing with that?" A huntress asked, confused before becoming frightened when Pyro turned his gaze to her.

"Leaving. But before we do. Just gotta make sure of something." He answered before taking out another PDA. Pressing the red button, he had the dispensers and sentry guns destroy themselves, which surprised everyone. "Been nice talking. So long."

"Bye, everyone." I said as Pyro laughed. The Engineer smiled one last time before raising the Eureka Effect to the sky where lightning suddenly struck it.

"WAIT! JAUNE!" Pyrrha shouted before grabbing my arm.

"NO! DON'T" I tried to warn her but was too late as she grabbed my arm as the Eureka Effect teleported us to my place.

Unknown Location

"Ow." I grunted in pain as we arrived at my place.

"Still getting used to it, huh, Jaune?" Engineer asked as he put his wrench away.

"Pretty much." I answered in pain as I still felt electricity coursing through my veins. However, my attention shifted when I heard Pyrrha moan in pain. Looking to my side, I saw her passed out on the floor.

"She's your girlfriend?" Engineer asked.

"She is." I answered as I picked her up and carried her over to the nearby couch.

"Bout damn time you got yourself a lover, kid." Engineer said as he set up his Rancho Relaxo. I just rolled my eyes before sitting next to Pyrrha. Yet, I knew things were going to become even more hectic now. At the very least, though, I will have Pyrrha by my side. Though, I can already hear Scout mocking/teasing me already.

Note:

Next chapter will have both Engineer and Pyro.
