A large room emanates darkness all throughout it, the deep scarlet carpet and the blue flames signify the true evil within the air. Within the walls six fair maidens are sealed away, each holding a heart that is void of darkness, a heart of pure light.
Suddenly, a door opens at the entrance to the room. Four figures walk in, a boy, a duck, a dog, and a beast.
The beast has fur as brown as oak. He wards torn, blue pants, and a purple cape made of fine silk, a showcase of the greatness this once royal beast had. The dog and duck, named Goofy and Donald, were no ordinary animals, they walked and talked like humans, and had large white gloves, one was a great mage, while the other was a royal knight and lastly, the leader and chosen one, the boy, named Sora. He wore a black jacket over his red. . . shirt? pants? onesie? Whatever it was, it had a long zipper, one that some could consider too long.
The boy had eyes as blue as the sky and, and hair as jagged as a myriad of cliffs, and that was as brown as Maple
They walked through the room, passing by the maidens. They needed to save them, but more importantly, Sora had to save his best friend. They approached the end of the room and climbed up the stairs. Goofy and the beast were blocked off by an invisible wall, Goofy falling flat on his face But Sora didn't notice, all he could focus on was the lifeless body of a girl on the floor.
"Kairi!" Sora spoke, his attention fully focused on her and her alone. "Kairi! Kairi! Open your eyes!" Sora pleaded. But his attention would be pulled away, as a dark voice interjected.
"It's no use." the dark voice said. The voice belonged to the only thing standing in Sora's way, his OTHER best friend. He was a boy, around the same age as Sora and Kairi. He had hair as white as silver, and wore a strange outfit, with the defining feature of a heartless emblem on the chest area. This boy's name was Riku. "That girl has lost her heart. She cannot wake up" Said the silver-haired boy. Sora, however, knew something was off.
"What? You. . . You're not Riku" The silver-haired boy ignored this statement.
"The Keyhole cannot be completed, so long as the last princess of heart still sleeps." The boy jumps off the platform above and slowly floats down to be on Sora's level.
"Whoever you are, let Riku go! Give him back his heart!"Sora exclaimed, knowing full well that this absolutely could not have been Riku.
"But first, YOU must give the princess back her heart!" Replied the silver-haired boy, pointing his weapon at Sora Suddenly, Sora fealt a great pain in his chest. . . or rather, in his heart. Sora falls to the ground, confused by this sudden pain.
"Don't you see yet? The princess's heart is responding. It has been there all along. Kairi's heart rests within you!" Sora is shocked at this statement, and can barely make a response. "Tell me. Who are you?". The silver-haired boy laughed, and then finally spoke.
"It is I, Ansem, the seeker of darkness." Ansem begins to walk towards sora. but finally, Donald had enough. He charged at Riku with all his might, ready to blow him away with all the magic he contained. But Ansem was far stronger than the king's strongest mage. He was simply tossed aside, not even holding Ansem back for even a marginal amount of time. "So, I shall release you now, Princess. Complete the keyhole with your power. Open the door, lead me into everlasting darkness!" Ansem said, about to strike Sora down with his keyblade of darkness. But before he could. sora heard a voice, a voice he could not ignore
"Sora!" exclaimed Kairi, not in the physical world, no. The words came from within Sora, within his heart. Sora blocked the oncoming attack. Slowly rising from the ground, sora only has one response.
"Forget it! There's no way you're taking Kairi's heart!" and thus began a battle, a battle as old as time. . .
The two keyblade wielders fought back and forth, both wielders giving this battle everything they had. Darkness clashed with fire, thunder, air, and ice as if nature itself was fighting alongside Sora against the darkness. but finally, the duel came to an end, as Sora struck Ansem down with his keyblade. Ansem, using Riku's body as a puppet, disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke. But before Sora could process everything, the very hard to understand voice of Donald duck interjected
"Sora! the keyhole!" realizing what he must do, sora aimed his keyblade at the keyhole, planning to lock it for good, and stop the darkness once and for all . . . but nothing happened. That's when Goofy had an idea
"maybe if we unlock Kairi up, we can open the door, and then lock it." when said out loud, it didn't quite make sense. But Sora understood what his companion was trying to say.
"I think you're right. If we can free her heart. . ." Sora looked down on the floor, at Ansem's keyblade of darkness. "A keyblade that unlocks people's hearts. . . I wonder"
"Sora?" Goofy asked, wondering where he was going with this. Sora approached the keyblade of darkness and picked it up. "Sora, hold on!" Goofy shouted
"No, wait!" Donald pleaded, trying to reason with Sora. But Sora could only look back, and give one last smile. Sora turned the keyblade onto himself and pierced his own body, returning Kairi's heart to its rightful place, and destroying the keyblade of darkness, freeing the other six princesses of heart. With her heart finally back within her, Kairi wakes, and just in time to be traumatized. Sora, unable to support himself any longer, falls backwards towards the floor.
"Sora!" Kairi says in shock, as she runs towards him. but as she catches him, she instead feels the weightlessness of a hollow vessel, as Sora's body disappears into a sparkling cloud. Everyone stands in shock, unable to speak until finally, Kairi speaks up. "Sora, are you really-" she can barely speak as tears begin to well up inside her. "No, he can't, I won't let him go!" Kairi yells, looking around as if there were anything in the room that could help save sora, but before she could find the absolute nothing in that room that would help, a familiar dark voice returns
"So, you have awakened at least, princess," said Ansem, this time, however, He looked different, wearing a long dark Jacket that was open to show his dark chest, with a heartless emblem insignia, revealing his true nature. "The keyhole is now complete. you have served your purpose." Ansem approaches Kairi with murderous intent, but Donald, Goofy, and the beast, who yes, is still here, block the way.
"Don't make another move!" Said Donald
"Do you think we can stop him all by ourselves?" Goofy whispered to Donald, with a hint of fear in his voice
"I don't know!" Donald whispered back, with a mixture of fear and anger residing in him.
But nobody in this room would have to worry about whether or not a dog and a duck could stop Ansem at full strength, because Riku, appearing in an almost astral-projection like state, began to hold him back, using all his might to protect Kairi, the only best friend he has left.
"Riku!" Kairi exclaimed, hoping that maybe he would be able to stop Ansem and help her save Sora. But instead, all she receives is a disappointing command.
"You've got to run! The Heartless are coming!" and just as Riku said that multiple heartless, taking the forms of shadows, began appearing near the door to darkness. Realizing that without a keyblade wielder, they were practically powerless, the four ran out of the room, and back to the entrance of Hollow Bastion. But despite the fact that they were running with all the energy they had left, it seems the heartless were catching up to them, or rather, A heartless. A single shadow was using everything it had in its darkened heart to follow them.
"Kairi, hurry!" Goofy yelled, not knowing why she wasn't moving, only looking back at where they came. "I can't leave them behind!" She says, determined to at least try to save who she can.
"We can't stay here!" Donald says in response, hoping to persuade her to join them in their Gummi ship, and going back to Traverse Town, the only place they think is safe.
Kairi, giving into the pressure, runs down the stairs. They're at the entrance, they're almost safe.
But to their horror, they're not alone.
"Heartless is after us!" Goofy shouts in shock Donald, knowing what Sora would do, took initiative.
"I'll handle this!" pulling out his staff, He hits the heartless on the head multiple times, but it did nothing. Acting as if it were their friend. Suddenly, Kairi had a realization
"Sora? Is that you?" She asked, wondering if this shadow is the darkness within Sora's heart, taking form. But before the shadow could respond, a myriad more shadows appeared, ready to drown them in darkness. Donald and Goofy charged at the heartless, hoping to protect Kairi. But there were too many. Kairi and Sora's Shadow were surrounded by many other shadows. Kairi, knowing full well this could be the end, had one thing to say. "This time, I'll protect you." The many shadows approached, like wild dogs approaching their prey. And then, they leaped towards the two, ready to strike, but Kairi had other ideas. "LEAVE US ALONE!" Kairi screamed, as the room suddenly filled with light, everything but Kairi and Sora's shadow getting blown away.
As the light died down, the shadows trembled in fear, realizing what had happened, the being of pure light, kairi, was holding something, a shimmering golden keyblade, with streaks of blue and red, and a star keychain. Kairi had embraced her destiny, and attacked the many heartless. Kairi wasn't much of a fighter, she didn't like to play-fight with wooden swords like the other kids on Destiny Island, but she did everything she could, as was able to ward off the rest of the heartless. With the heartless retreating, temporarily. Kairi turned to Sora. Not knowing what to do, she thought that she could be the key to saving Sora, pointing her keyblade at his shadow. The shadow was unmoving, and so, Kairi, using her powers as a princess of heart, shot a beam of light from her keyblade, locking Sora's heart, and returning him to his former state.
Sora, awakening from the darkness, finally spoke "thank you. . . Kairi." He could barely speak, but there was no time to waste. The heartless had returned and in greater numbers. Sora got up, and the four stood next to each other, ready to fight tooth and nail to save themselves, so they could return and save one last person. But before anyone could even attempt to strike, a loud roar rumbled through the castle's entrance. The beast, who had seemingly disappeared. Crashed onto the floor, striking down many heartless.
"Go!" said the beast, trying to save those who had helped him get this far.
"Come with us!" said Sora, knowing full well that the beast might not live if he stayed in this darkness-filled castle.
"I told you before, I'm not leaving without Belle. Now, go! The heartless are coming!" The beast said, his heart having made up its mind. He could not be persuaded. Knowing this may be their only chance, Sora, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy, fled Hollow Bastion, vowing to come back and save the worlds from the opened door to darkness. . .
It's a beautiful day. The sun is setting, the sky, a bright orange color, the abandoned mansion is surrounded by trees. the only person around? A blond boy, lying on the grass. The boy had spiky hair, like the top of many mountains. The boy opens his eyes and gets up, as if this is the first time he's been awake in years. Before he could do anything though, a man in a black coat emerges from the shadows. The boy does not react.
"Do you want to know?" The man says. There's a long pause, before the man materializes multiple letters, reading "S O R A". "You feel nothing. Do you want a meaning?" Swiping at the letters, the name is rearranged, and the boy's fate is seemingly sealed. The letters finally stop moving, and an X appears in the middle of it, forming a new identity for the boy.
"Roxas. . ." the boy finally speaks.
"A new you." the man in the black coat responds. . .
Meanwhile, in a distant world, a group of people are inside a small room. with white and blue wavy lines making a pattern on the wall.
"Tell me what happened," said a man named Leon. He wore a leather jacket, with black jeans and grey shoes, lal of which have zippers, except the jacket. Sora, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy, explained the events that took place in Hollow Bastion. "So the darkness is flowing out of that Keyhole. . ." said Leon.
"No wonder there are more and more Heartless everywhere. Said a girl in a pink dress, her long hair tied into one long braid, all of it being held nicely by a large pink bow. The girl's name was Aerith. "The only way to stop them is-" but before she could even finish her sentence, Sora finished it for her
"Seal the Keyhole, right?" Of course, the question was rhetorical, it was obvious that's what he's supposed to do. But to Sora's surprise, he got a different response.
"Maybe. But no one knows what will happen once it's sealed." Leon replied.
"Well, we can't just stay here. We have to do something. we've got a friend back there." Sora said, knowing full well of the dangers lurking within Hollow Bastion's walls.
"That's right. You two have one more friend to worry about. Riku's Keyblade must have been born of the captive princesses' hearts, just like that keyhole you saw. Of course, without Kairi's heart, it remained incomplete. Don't worry Sora, if anyone can save your friend, it's you and Kairi." Leon said, caving in too his need to breathe, as he had been speaking for way too long.
Our four Heroes, Sora, Donal, Goofy, and Kairi, stepped out of the house that Leon, Aerith, and their friend Yuffie was staying in, dead set on going back to Hollow Bastion. Whether or not they could make the trip was a problem. Their ship had gotten beaten up while escaping, and so they needed someone to repair it, but lucky for them, they knew a person.
"Kid, I can't let you do that," their friend responded. Their friend is a tall muscular man, with blond hair and goggles. His name is Cid, and he's a real expert on Gummi ships and technology in general.
"What? Why not?" Kairi asked, wondering how they couldn't go back to a place they had just been to.
"The heartless, they're multiplying by the second. going back the way you came would be a death sentence." Sora knew that you couldn't really question Cid's judgment, however, someone had a better idea
"How about another way to the castle?" asked Donald in his loud, very difficult-to-understand voice.
"Hmm. . . That could work. But you'll need another Navi-Gummi to get there. I think I had another one stored somewhere around Traverse town. Though I don't remember where. Your best bet is splitting up, and checking either the waterway or Merlin's house." Cid said. It seemed he was up for adding another Navi-Gummi to the gummi ship. To save time, the four quarter-pints split up, Donald and Goofy going to Merlin's house, while Sora and Kairi went to check the waterway.
The water resembled a large cave, with a few paths that lead to dead ends - one leading to the exit, and a house-like structure that leads to Merlin's house. The two friends looks around when Kairi notices something
"What a mysterious mural. . . It's almost hypnotizing." Kairi said, in genuine awe of the mural's beauty. She approached the mural, trying to get a better look at it. As she approached though, the mural changed. It used to resemble that of a moon in a bright blue sky, but with a flash, a Navi-gummi had appeared and floated into Kairi's palm, and the mural changed, to resemble a beautiful crescent moon in a Navy-blue sky.
"Great job Kairi! Let's meet up with the others. We should rest up" said sora, Happy they're able to finish what they started. But Kairi turned towards the mural instead. Looking back and thinking about the past.
"A light at the end of the tunnel. . .'' Kairi whispered to herself, thinking of an old story her grandmother used to tell her about, about how darkness triumphed over light, but the light managed to survive in the hearts of children, allowing the worlds to be restored but separated. It was a perfect analogy for the situation they're in now. the lights within the hearts of Sora, Riku, and Kairi, allow them to stay connected, no matter how far, even if they're separated by the darkness, but unlike the story, something was different.. "You think it'll ever be the same again between us, even after riku-?" But Sora had full confidence in Kairi
"When I turned into a heartless, you saved me, remember? I was lost in the darkness. I couldn't find my way. As I stumbled through the dark, I started to forget everything. My friends, who I was. The darkness almost swallowed me. But then I heard a voice, your voice. A light in the darkness shined through, and everything started coming back to me. You brought me back. Our hearts are connected. No matter how deep the darkness, a light shines within." Sora said, hoping to cheer her up. Kairi chuckled and replied
"You're right. Let's go, let's save Riku. . . Together." And the two were off. They needed to get ready. They had more than a few battles ahead of them. Meanwhile, in some other place, a light shines in the realm of darkness.
"Sora, Kairi, I'm sorry. . . Is this the afterworld?" Riku got up, and started trudging along, but almost soon after fell back down, as he shrouded in a dark cloud. "I'm not ready. Not yet. Not until I see Sora and Kairi one last time. . ." Riku got back up. and kept moving, his unwavering determination being the only thing stopping him from fading away into the darkness. Suddenly, a voice was heard
"Riku? Can you hear me?" the voice spoke. It wasn't anyone Riku could recognize. It wasn't Ansem, the voice was too high pitched, and it couldn't be Sora or Kairi either, the voice was almost non-human. "I'll be there soon." the voice spoke, almost slightly louder.
"Who's there!?" Riku shouted, looking around to see where this voice is coming from
"I have the other keyblade, the one that belongs to this world. I've been trying to get through to you, but the darkness in your heart forced me away. Your heart won the battle against darkness, but it's too late for your body. At least for now." After a pause that lasts seemingly forever, Riku finally responded.
"What should I do?" he asked, putting all of his trust in his new ally.
"The Door of Darkness will open soon, but it's a door we can't enter. It has to be closed from both sides. To do this. You need two keyblades and two hearts. Maybe you're here for the same reason I am. Maybe it was fate." Riky was starting to get annoyed.
"Fate, huh? You seem to know everything, don't you? Then tell me: Are Sora and Kairi okay?" Riku needed to know if it was even worth it to keep going, and the voice responded with a question
"Don't you feel it? Don't you feel the echoes of their hearts?" Riku paused, but the voice kept talking. " You already know the answer. Look inside your heart."
After resting up, the group enters the gummi ship and blasts off towards Hollow bastion. It's a bit crowded, not only are our heroes in the ship, but so are Leon, Yuffie, Aerith, and Cid. They decided to come with at the last minute since it has been a long time since their world fell to darkness, and wanted to see what has become of their old home. After landing, they found the beast, but not Belle, and learned that the other princesses of heart are staying in the castle by their own free will. They seem to be holding back Ansem's power in order to buy everyone more time. Knowing the danger ahead, everyone, beast included, takes the lift, and waits. . .
When the lift lands at the castle, everyone storms Hollow, blades and claws clash, magic is cast, Roars erupt, and Yuffie has at least 13 near-death experiences. But they make it through, finally entering the castle, and. . . it's very quiet. Too quiet. Taking the chance to catch their breath, everyone walks to the library.
"Ansem's Library huh? Always wondered what that old blondie did in here." Yuffie said, never really experiencing what it's like inside the castle, but Kairi interjects
"Blonde? That's not right. We saw Ansem before we escaped, he had long silver hair, just like Riku" They paused for a second
"Silver hair? That can't be." Yuffie says almost in shock
"Do you think-?" Aerith hesitates, before changing the subject.
"No never mind, his appearance probably changed after possessing Riku's body. It's definitely Ansem we're talking about." Kairi and Sora are confused but decide not to question it, they don't have too much time to spare. They continue through Hollow Bastion, slaying stray heartless, slowly but surely making it up to the top. Upon making it to the castle chapel, they find that the way to the keyhole is blocked yet again, and the portal that maleficent had escaped into during their first battle, was suddenly back. Knowing what they must do, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Kairi walked into the portal.
Upon entering the arena, they seemingly find nothing, but a shadowy presence begins to make itself known, slowly fading into existence. Upon noticing the presence, they turn to face it, only for the enigmatic man to walk straight through sora, giving him flashes of strange images, of a strange place with lots of trees, a mansion, and a sunset. Sora falls backwards, but then gets up as if nothing happened, and turns to face the mysterious figure behind him.
The figure was now fully visible, and he gave off an overwhelming presence. He wore a long leather coat, with a hood conveniently covering his face. Finally, someone says something
"Who're you!?" Kairi asks, in an aggressive manner
"Ah, it seems you two are special as well. . ." the man speaks in the voice of a million whispers.
"Ansem?" Goofy asks, unable to tell if this is their adversary.
"That name rings familiar." the man says, as he opens up his palms, electricity begins to emit from it as a white ball of energy appears. "You remind me of him. . ." The man speaks, his message directed towards Sora.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sora asks before quickly pulling out his keyblade, reacting to the enigmatic man's sudden attack. He shoots large amounts of lightning at sora before launching the energy ball as a projectile. Sora, however, is able to reflect it, hitting the ceiling and causing rubble to fall from it.
"It means you are not whole. . ." The man speaks. "You are incomplete. . . Allow me. . . To test your strength. . .'' Sora and company prepare their weapons as the figure attacks. He throws many energy projectiles at them as if it were nothing, Sora slashes at the man but the attack is blocked by a wall-like screen that materializes out of thin air. Kairi attacks from behind but is met with a red, beam-like blade erected from the man's palm. Donald casts a myriad of attacks. Thundaga, Firaga, Blizzaga, but the man is unaffected. Every attack they throw at him, he can not only take but dish back twofold. After minutes of this fighting, the man grows tired and pulls a new trick from up his sleeve. Sora slices at the man but is met with an intense electric shock, the man slowly drains the life out of Sora. Kairi attacks, trying to save Sora, but she is met with a backhand slash from the man's blades, knocking her into the wall. Donald, in a last-ditch effort, casts one last spell, using all his might
"GRAVIGA!" Donald shouts as the man is struck by a black and purple ball of magic that forces him down onto the floor, stunning him. Sora, having a window of opportunity with the enigmatic figure's sudden collapse, breaks out of the electric shock entrapping him, and begins to dash through him, while stabbing with his keyblade. Over and over he does this until he runs out of the energy needed to use sonic rave. The man begins to get up before swiftly being struck by Kairi's keyblade, over, and over and over. Finally, she jumps back before the man can regain his composure, using her powers as a princess of heart, she gathers a large mass of light around her before shooting a myriad light projectiles at the figure. Exhausted, the group of heroes can barely stand as the man begins to get back up, but instead of attacking, he speaks.
"Impressive. . . This will be enjoyable. . ." The man speaks as if what just happened was nothing at all.
"What do you mean!?" Kairi asks, but before she could get a response, Sora, on sheer willpower alone, charges and strikes through the enigmatic man, but nothing happens. He sliced through his body, but there was no reaction.
"It is beyond your comprehension, for now. . . Until we meet again. . ." The man spoke, slowly disappearing.
"What are you!? Sora asks before the man disappears fully." after a pause, the enigmatic man speaks
"I am. . . But a mere shell. . ." Finally, the man disappears.
Kairi, Sora, Donald, and Goofy, after defeating the enigmatic man. reopen the path the keyhole, and begin to walk to the room which had been the arena for a great battle not too long ago. They stand in front of the gate, knowing what they must do
"So are you guys just gonna stand there? or-" Yuffie says in a joking manner
"Oh uh- yeah, we should get this over with while we still can. C'mon guys, let's go" Sora replies. The four walk into the door. They enter a strange room with almost no definite shape, colors swirl in the distance as if they're in an abstract painting. But they didn't have time to stare in awe at their surroundings, the door behind them closed, and a large heartless, a Behemoth emerged from the ground. Roaring with a commanding presence it stomped forth, every step causing a shockwave that would knock a normal person off-balance, Donald, learning his lesson from the last battle, immediately cast a gravity spell, which knocked the monster down, creating a window long enough for goofy, Kairi, and Sora, to get in close and begin attacking. The monster wasn't down for long and it slowly began to rise from the ground, Kairi, light on her toes, and thinking fast, jumped and climbed onto the monster, hacking and slashing at it while desperately clinging to its fur so she didn't fall off. The behemoth, roaring in pain, began jumping around the room causing massive shockwaves that caused many tremors. Kairi, still on the monster's back, stabs the creature's horn, causing it to crack the monster, in great pain. rears up on its hind legs, causing Kairi to fall, before casting a great spell. Darkness rains from the heavens, every single one causing great pain to whoever it hits. In a last-ditch effort, Donald uses the gravity spell one last time, allowing sora to deal one last blow to the monster's horn, destroying it, and the behemoth alongside it. tired and out of breath, our heroes almost forget what they came here for
"C'mon, let's seal the keyhole!" goofy says in his cheery voice. Our heroes approach Hollow Bastion's keyhole.
"Would you like to do the honors?" Sora asked, his question directed at Kairi.
"hehe, of course. Thanks." Kairi takes her keyblade and points it at the keyhole, suddenly a beam of light shoots out from it, and the keyhole lights up before disappearing. With that complete, Sora, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy, exit the room, returning to where they came.
"Congratulations Sora, you did it." Relieved that things may finally be over.
"But I guess this also means goodbye, huh?" Yuffie says, looking down at the floor below her Sora seems puzzled
"What? Why's that?"
"Well, once the worlds are restored, EVERYTHING will go back to normal, the worlds will be separated, and everyone will go back to where they belong," Aerith replied. But Kairi was also confused at this prospect
"Then we'll just visit you guys using the gummi ship," Kairi said, but Leon quickly came to correct her.
"It's not that simple, Each world was divided by what are basically invisible walls. The heartless came and destroyed them, but now that the final keyhole is locked, and Ansem is soon to be defeated, the walls will come back." Leon said, disappointingly,
"oh. . ." Kairi began to sulk.
"But even if we can't see each other. We'll never forget each other." Aerith said, lifting her spirits.
"Besides, I couldn't forget Sora even if I wanted to," Yuffie said jokingly
"Hey what's that supposed to mean!" Sora responds. Everyone laughs, and for a brief moment, everyone forgets about what they have to do next.
After a quick visit to traverse town to drop off their friends, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Kairi set off to the point at which Ansem lays. The end of the wolds. The world resembled nothing they had ever seen before, from far away it was like a black hole consuming anything that came close to it. And it only got worse after landing. The world was like a clear pool, reflecting everything in the sky above it. The endless expanse was hollow, with little around to use as a waypoint. Sora and company walked along the path, killing heartless and the like along the way, but they also kept bumping into strange invisible walls, as if the ghosts of physical objects from the world's long-dead still linger, even if not visible. The four heroes walk towards a strange light that isn't too far away, after reaching it they suddenly appear in a large ravine filled with many bridge-like structures and protruding crystals. where Ansem is, he's probably in the most dangerous part of this place.
It didn't take long for the heroes to find the strange swirling hole that leads deeper into the cavern. The four jumped in, prepared for what could be in the abyss. The four found themselves in a series of pedestals that contained large portals that, when entered, took them to fragments of the worlds Sora had visited when on his journey to save Riku and Kairi. The hollow, empty feeling of the world was unsettling, giving the heroes more drive to keep going and finish what they started. After moving along they found one golden pillar at the end. With no other choice, they jumped in. Finding themselves in a long hallway that looks like it should be in Hollow Bastion, They keep on moving, slaying Invisibles along the way, until they come upon a strange room, with a portal, and a machine.
The machine had multiple capsules, with heart-shaped windows on them, connected to that were many tubes that emanated black smoke into a glass sphere above, containing incredible amounts of darkness. The heroes were confused, they had never seen this room before. . . Except for Kairi.
"This room. . ."
"Huh? What about it?" Sora asked.
"I don't know. . . Something about this room feels familiar. But I don't believe I've ever been here before. . ." Kairi is even more perplexed.
"Maybe you saw it while in Hollow Bastion!" Goofy said, hoping to put Kairi's nerves at ease.
"Yeah. . . Maybe. . ."Kairi said, staring at the center pod. The four heroes eventually moved on and entered the portal in the corner of the room. After walking through they found themselves floating in an empty sky, dark blue, but starless, moonless, empty, except for a large Volcano, which seemed to go down forever, never reaching any sort of ground. Suddenly a creature emerged from the Volcano, a dark, demonic-like figure with massive wings and horns appeared. The heroes knew they had no other option, they had to fight it. Donald, thinking this would work for the third time in a row, Used a gravity spell, only for it to do practically nothing. Seeing this as a challenge, the devilish creature, known as Chernobog, rained hellfire upon them, barely surviving, Donald used a wind spell to form a barrier around them, granting them some protection, then flying as fast as they could, the four heroes struck the Chernobog over and over, the Chernobog had one trick up his sleeve, however.
Using the power of music, the Chernobog Created blue laser-like lights that homed in on Sora and Kairi, thinking fast, Kairi pushed sora out of the way, taking all brunt force of a devil's powerful magic, but giving Sora the edge needed to strike the Chernobog down. Wailing in defeat, the Chernobog disappeared into a massive cloud of ash. Once the dust settled the heroes descended into the now empty volcano. After descending into the Volcano, They find themselves in a cave filled with depictions of destroyed worlds and vines filled with dark thorns. The heroes quickly jumped into the hole ahead of them, not wanting to dwell in a place like this for too long. However, jumping in they found themselves in a room with yet another Behemoth. Knowing what to do, they struck it down with relative ease. At the edge of the room, there was a heartless emblem. Suddenly a part of it broke, revealing an area behind it. More strong heartless suddenly appeared, and the group realized they were in for one more clash against the heartless
Angel Stars were eclipsed. keyblades clashed with blades of the Invisibles. Spells were cast. The battle seemed like it would never end, but eventually, slowly but surely, the door was opened, giving Sora, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy, access to a new part of the cave, where they took one final rest. Everybody catches their breath and makes sure they're ready for the battle that is soon to come. Once everyone is ready, They walk through the final door. As they do, Kairi's eyes open in shock
"is this?"
"Destiny Island?" Sora says, finishing her sentence for her. They look upon the sea that once seemed so familiar to them. The first thing sora tries is going to the secret place. A little cave where Kairi, Riku, and he had hung out. But before they could, they heard a voice.
"This world has been connected. . . Tied to the darkness. . . Soon to be completely eclipsed. . . There is so very much to learn. . . You understand so little. . " The familiar voice of darkness, Ansem. The four of them turn around to find the island completely changed. the once beach becoming a cliffside that faces the ocean, the docks tilted and broken. The leaves of the large trees turned a sickly purple color. At the edge of the cliff, they see him, Riku, or at least, what looks like him. The four approached him as he kept speaking. "To the heart seeking freedom, this island is a prison surrounded by water. And so this boy sought out to escape from his prison. He sought a way to cross over into other worlds. And he opened his heart to darkness. . ." Ansem turns around, his body transforming to resemble that of his true self. "You see darkness is the heart's true essence. . .'' Ansem said, a smirk growing larger on his face.
"That's not true!" Sora and Kairi said simultaneously.
"The heart may be weak. And sometimes it may even give in," Sora says
"But we've learned that deep down, There's a light that can never go out!" Kairi finishes. Ansem begins to float upward, a heartless-like creature appearing behind him
"So you have made it this far, and still you understand nothing. Every light must fade, every heart must return to darkness!" Ansem dashes straight at Kairi, about to use the beast behind him, called Guardian, to crush out the needless light, but sora quickly blocks the attack, allowing for Kairi, Donald, and Goofy to strike Ansem Flies backward, using the Guardian to throw many discs of darkness at the heroes. Kairi, quick on her feet, slides below them and strikes Ansem numerous times, before once again using the power of the princess of heart, shooting many light beams that greatly damage Ansem. Realizing he's at a disadvantage, Ansem causes massive tremors on destiny island, the treehouse shakes and crumbles, revealing a large crater-like structure, and flies in.
Sora and Kairi quickly jump in, thinking he's retreating, falling right into his trap. Donald and Goofy are sealed outside the arena, leaving it to just Sora and Kairi to take him down. Ansem creates a large pool of darkness in the ground, and out from it emerges the largest heartless Kairi has ever seen, and a familiar face to Sora, Darkside. The heartless slams its fist into the ground, summoning many shadows. Sora runs up the large heartless' arms and attacks while Kairi deals with the shadows below. Sora had grown much throughout his journey, and he was going to prove it to this heartless. the same heartless he fought the day destiny islands were destroyed. He dashed and stabbed at the heartless' face over and over at high speed, and when the heartless was vulnerable, finished it off with a Thundaga, Kairi finishing off the shadows below at the same time. Ansem scoffed and floated down to their level. Now it was time to do things HIS way.
The two children of Destiny Island attacked the silver-haired heartless with all their might, Ansem created waves of darkness, as they dodged, Ansem charged at them with a dark aura, Kairi blocks the oncoming attack, leaving Ansem Vulnerable to Sora whose directly behind him. Sora yet again makes use of sonic rave, dashing and stabbing, Ansem countered by creating a shield of darkness around him, leaving Sora vulnerable to the guardian, grabbing him with its bare fists. Using its strength it slowly crushes Sora as Ansem deals a final blow. But before He can finish it, Kairi lets out a massive beam of light from her keyboard, piercing directly through Ansem's chest, causing the guardian to disappear temporarily, allowing Sora to get away. Ansem turns to face the princess, his body surrounded by a black and white aura, the sky turns black as the guardian emerges from the ground, striking at Kairi. She's knocked straight into Ansem enveloping her in the shield of darkness, knocking her back into a wall, unable to move. Finally, Sora runs in, slashing away at Ansems back in rapid succession, blind-siding him. With this, the facade of destiny islands disappears. everybody floating in the endless void. Sora Holds Kairi close, waiting for her to wake up, but Ansem has other plans.
"Behold the endless abyss! Within it lies the heart of all worlds, KINGDOM HEARTS! From its darkness all hearts are born, even yours." From the abyss, Ansem rises in a new form. A large, godlike form, larger than even destiny islands. "Darkness Conquers all worlds!" Ansem says, ready to strike his foes down once and for all. A vortex of darkness appears below them, taking in Donald and Goofy. leaving Sora and the unconscious Kairi to defend themselves. Ansem attacks with great strength knocking the two children away in the abyss. A vortex opens up, and the two of them are nearly consumed by it, but they hear a familiar voice "Giving up already? Come on, I thought you two were stronger than that." said the voice of Riku, seemingly close by. Hearing the voice of their friend allows them to gain their composure, Kairi waking up just in time to dodge the vortex, and Sora rising from the abyss below. The two draw their keyblades and look upon the face of a god, and charge with the intent to kill.
The Two children of destiny islands attack with all their might, sora hacking and slashing, while Kairi Casts powerful light magic at Ansem. Ansem counters this with his own twin blades and many duos of darkness lasers. The two children dodged as best as they could. But Ansem grew tired of this, grabbing Sora by the throat with one arm, he threw him into the air and prepared to strike. Kairi, using all the power she could, pointed her keyblade at Ansem's chest once more, and shot a powerful beam of light. knocking him out long enough for a stray vortex to re-open. Goofy flew out of the Vortex and joined them in battle. The trio began to focus their efforts on the large, monstrous face on the front of the world of chaos. they strike it with everything they had, tornado spins, Sonic raves, beams of light raining from the heavens. the face could barely do anything as they attacked it. Once it was defeated, a vortex opened within its mouth, and out flew Donald.
The Four of them, back together again, flew towards the now-recovered Ansem. He tried everything he could, explosions, leasers, a whirlwind of slashes, but he was no match for the four heroes of light. Finally, he was struck down. Causing a huge explosion. Now it was just the four heroes and the powerless Ansem in the void. He writhed in pain, but yet he laughed.
"It is futile, the keyblade alone cannot seal the door to darkness. Kingdom hearts! Fill me with the power of darkness!" Ansem Exclaimed as the door to kingdom hearts slowly opened, dark smoke spewing out of it. But they had no fear
"Ansem, You're wrong. I know, as a princess of heart, that Kingdom hearts. . ." Kairi said
"IS LIGHT!" The four heroes of light exclaimed as kingdom hearts opened, and the abyss was flooded with light. the light pierced Ansems body, destroying it, disintegrating it, Ansem disappeared, gone for good. Once he disappeared, the four heroes rushed towards kingdom hearts, to close the door. But it wouldn't budge, as Ansem said, you cannot close the door to darkness with the keyblade alone. But suddenly, Riku's voice returned
"Come on, guys! Together, we can do it!" Riku exclaimed, appearing on the opposite side of the door. The four of them pushed as Riku pulled, the door closing bit by bit. As they did this, Hordes of heartless were gathering around Riku, when suddenly, they wheres struck down by a mysterious force. From behind the door, King Mickey, pulled out his keyblade, telling Sora and Kairi to seal the door to darkness, together. They protested, Knowing that if they sealed the door, that they may never see Riku again.
"Don't worry. There will always be a door to the light." The two children, putting their faith in Riku and Mickey, began to close the door to darkness.
"Take care of each other," Riku said, as his last words before the door closed. Sora and Kairi pulled out their keyblades and locked the door for good. Suddenly, from out of the abyss, the land of many worlds began to regenerate. The sand of Destiny island Slowly comes back to where it belongs, grain by grain. Sora, remembering the last words Riku said, pushed Kairi over to the sand of Destiny islands. Kairi got up and turned around.
"Sora, what are you doing!?" Kairi asked, a hint of betrayal in her voice
"Kairi, remember what you said before? We'll always be with each other. No matter how far apart. We'll come back to you, Riku, and I. I promise!" Sora said, with full confidence. "plus, if something goes wrong. The world will need a strong keyblade user like her to help protect it. and just like that, in front of her eyes, Sora, Donald, and Goofy Disappeared. Destiny Islands and the many worlds were restored. Kairi walked into their secret place and looked upon all the drawings Sora, Riku, and herself drew before all this happened. She noticed something changed. Where once, one of the drawings was of Sora and Kairi smiling, now, Sora is shown giving her a Paupau fruit. Tears fill Kairi's eyes as she looks upon it, tears of joy. grabbing a rock, she begins to add her own addition to the drawing. Showing her giving Sora a paopu fruit as well.
When two people share a paopu fruit, it's said that their fate will always be intertwined forever.
