This takes place in Endgame when Natasha and Clint are fighting at the top of Mount Vormir for the soul stone.
Okay but I don't really want to spoil it but I must give a warning, there is a character death.
Clint gasps and grunts when Natasha's widow's bite inserts itself on his chest. Coursing electricity through his veins. Reflexes kick in and he shoves the contraption off of him, not giving himself any time of relief before hopping up on his feet and shooting an explosive arrow at Natasha's feet.
She flies backwards and falls to the ground with a shout. Clint starts running to the edge with no hesitation. He makes eye contact with Natasha, who's on the floor, before looking away and leaping off of the cliff.
He hears Natasha shout at him distantly before feeling a body tackle him into the wall of the cliff. He realizes what happens and notices his surroundings. Natasha is clinging on to him and he is stuck to the wall by a rope from her utility belt.
"No…" He whispers. He notices Nat struggling to get out of his grip, so he decides to act fast.
Before Natasha even realizes what's going on, they're both falling. She looks at Clint. "I'm sorry…" He whispers before taking an arrow out of his quiver and shooting it towards the cliff wall. She feels the tip brush next to her hip and she realizes what he did. It was a grappling arrow. She is suddenly jerked to a halt, causing her to lose a grip on Clint, letting him fall to his death.
She screams and tears run down her face. "NO! Stop, Clint...Nooo!" She's sobbing now, and is choking on the saliva that gets caught in her throat. She watches as his limp body crashes into the hard ground below her. His head slammed into the rock and blood pooled around him.
She watches his lifeless body for a few agonizing seconds before she wakes up in a pool of water. She cries even harder, this means that he really is dead. The stone held in her fisted hand was not worth the sacrifice. Now, they better kick Thanos' ass, he doesn't deserve to live another second.
Anger courses through her, she screams. It's a long scream at the top of her lungs, it's filled with grief and anger. Towards Clint for sacrificing himself, towards redskull for his stupid deal, towards Thanos for starting this whole situation.
Natasha doesn't want to disappoint anyone else, and she knows that she wants Clint to have a proper burial. Body and all. She stands up, her suit dripping with the murky water, and treks back over to the cliff.
…
She sees Clint's limp body a couple of meters away. She sprints over and falls to her knees by his side. The sight brought renewed tears to her eyes.
"Clint? Please...nononono Please!" She leans over his pale body. His lifeless eyes stared right past her, into oblivion. There was blood staining his lips and the back of his head was covered in it. She released a sob and laid her head down on his chest. Listening for his non existent heart beat. Keeping her head resting there, knowing she'll never find it again.
She weeped and clutched his jacket. Holding onto his corpse, waiting for him to pop back up and tell her that he's fine. But that very thought makes her cry harder because she knows he's actually dead this time. All of the other close calls in his life were just one step closer to this moment.
"I'm sorry Clint…" She says quietly. Closing his eyes with her fingers. "I'm sorry." She presses the button on her suit and travels back to her reality. Clint's limp body flying next to her.
Natasha lands gracefully on her feet while Clint lands with a thud on the giant metal floor. Steve gasps and runs over to them, only to be held back by Bruce. "Don't," He says, shaking his head. "Clint's not coming back from this one." Steve feels a tear leak out of his eye and turns back to Natasha. "No…"
Bruce and the rest of the team leave the rest of the room. Rocket is guiltily following behind, that scene will forever be stuck in his mind. Natasha clutching her partner, praying for him to come back even though she knows that he's too far gone.
It might take a while to recover from this one, but Natasha is the Black Widow. Whatever you do to her, she'll do right back with twice as much force.
Oh my god, imagine this happened in the movie. I cried so hard when Natasha died...and Tony...and Peter...and Loki...and literally everyone else. Okay yeah, maybe I'm a wimp.
Thanks Katie MacAlpine for reviewing.
I totally agree, Katie MacAlpine. I know the Hawkeye series is going to have Barney in it, but I don't want him to be a mean older brother. I want them to have like a brotherly love, kind of like Sam and Dean if you've ever heard of them. From supernatural.
Happy Halloween to everyone reading this and I hope you have a great weekend. I wish you the best of luck getting a bunch of candy this year!
