I don't own Riverdale and Supernatural.
Chapter 2
It has been a minion of five weeks since her mom's death, and she had grown used to the whole Riverdale thing.
Her uncle Fred and Archie had worked and owned a construction company. Though they may have different schedules, at least they spend dinner time or Fred's day off. She couldn't complain. After all, she spent her free time going into the forest to water and care for her cherry blossom tree, where her mother's ashes spread there.
Archie had introduced Betty, Jughead, and Kevin. Thou this summer had changed everyone. Archie is started off going who knows where. Betty had her internship going on. Hannah rolled her eyes. To be honest, she didn't like Betty very much.
She has no ideal or mind, but that mother of hers is definitely from hell.
It wasn't that hard to have a complete dislike of Betty. She is so perfect like she wants to be liked by everyone.
Hannah said nothing and shrugged off any words or comments Betty would speak.
But forget about her and Archie since they both change a lot, and Hannah does not like it.
Time was an enemy for her.
She is hanging out with Jughead At Pop's since she liked being with him a lot.
So, it's not too bad.
Hannah is dressing up and getting ready to hang out with Archie and Betty. She wore her Harry Potter Hogwarts Girls Athletic Crop T-Shirt and ripe jeans and her HARRY POTTER HIGH TOPS shoes. Her choice of jacket is Harry Potter GRYFFINDOR LOGO Fleece Hoodies Jacket.
Hannah is a big fan of Harry Potter stuff, and she instantly begs her parents and uncle to buy things for them since they show the books to movies.
This summer had changed everything.
Jason Blossom had died on the Fourth of July.
"Our story is about a town. A small town. And the people who live in the town. From a distance, it presents itself like so many other small towns all over the world.
The name of our town is Riverdale.
And our story begins, I guess, with what the Blossom twins did this summer..."
They are Jason and Cheryl Blossoms, and really, they could be models from an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog.
They look out at the river's shimmering, rippling surface, start walking towards a DOCK.
"On July 4th, just after dawn, Jason and Cheryl Blossom drove out to Sweetwater River for an early morning boat ride.
As they near the dock, Cheryl turns to Jason. She questioned her brother, "Are you scared, Jason?"
Jason shakes his head, and Jason smiles at her.
Jason and Cheryl are in the rowboat, sliding across the water towards an outcropping of rocks. They pass into - and out of - frame.
Nerdy, glasses-wearing high school geek Dilton Doiley guides a troop of BOY SCOUTS along the river's edge. They all carry BINOCULARS and Dilton's pointing to BIRDS in the trees.
"The next thing we know happened for sure is that Dilton Doiley, who was leading Riverdale's Boy Scout Troop on a bird-watching expedition, came upon Cheryl by the river's edge."
Dilton and the Scouts stop short. There's Cheryl, huddled by the lapping water, knees tucked under her chin, arms around her legs, shivering because she is currently sopping wet.
Numb, in shock, she turns to him. Her face is streaked with tears.
Cheryl whimper in a soft voice, "...Ja...Jason..."
POLICE BOAT moves along the river. Cheryl and her parents, Cliff and Penelope, are onboard. Cheryl is in shock, and her mascara has been smudged.
"Riverdale Police dragged Sweetwater river for Jason's body but never found it."
Alice Cooper and her husband Hal Cooper glared at the riverbank.
Alice grimly told her husband, "If he is dead, how? I hope in those last moments he suffered. May Jason Blossom burn in hell."
Jughead Jones watch on the side
"So a week later, the Blossom family buried an empty casket, and Jason's death was ruled an accident."
At POP's Diner in that late evening….
A skinny teenager with dark, shaggy hair sticking out from under a weird hat - it's like a felt CROWN - sits in one of the diner's booths, sipping coffee and tap-tap-tapping away on his laptop.
"As the story that Cheryl told made the rounds. That Cheryl dropped a glove in the water, and Jason reached down to get it, and accidentally tipped the boat, and panicked, and drowned. As for us, we were still talking about the July 4th tragedy on the last day of summer vacation. When a new mystery rolled into town."
Hannah is getting ready for her first day of Sophomore year since she skipped a grade. She is only a year younger than Archie.
She still likes to wear her Harry potter clothes from Hot Topic and Jansport backpack color red with buttons of whatever anime chibis or quotes they had.
"Morning, Hannah," Fred said to his niece. "Ready for your first day in sophomore year?"
Fred was surprised that she would have started freshmen year if not for her test scores and IQ test were high. They said it would be better to have Hannah catch up with the other students if she skips a grade.
"Are you sure you want to go sophomore year? You might like your freshmen and be with kids your own." Fred did not like the idea his niece wanted to be ahead of being in the same room with older kids.
"It's okay. I won't be afraid." Hannah eats her oatmeal and orange juice.
"Alright. You are taking your bike, right?" Hannah nodded to her uncle. "Bye!" Hannah left as she rode her bike out of the garage.
Hannah focused on her riding as she noticed it was getting cold. It is a good thing she is wearing a jacket.
The Winchester girl is taking a day and a time. After all, what could have happened in Riverdale?
Riverdale High….
Now she got off and went to the office.
Betty came at waved at Veronica and Hannah, who internally groaned since they didn't know that Betty Cooper was taking both of them at the same time.
'Of course, it is always Betty.'
They begin a tour.
Betty's leading Veronica and Hannah down a locker-lined hall.
Cooper talks to them, "So I usually start my tours with a little history and context. Riverdale High first opened its doors in 1941, and…."
Veronica was not impressed and cut out betty's speech, "and hasn't been redecorated since. Honestly, I feel like I'm wandering through the lost epilogue of "Our Town"
Veronica chuckles. Betty is confused but follows with laughter. Betty looked at the other new girl, Hannah Winchester. Archie's little cousin moved here and settled herself after her mother's death.
Betty knew that this girl needed friends. Perhaps she can be her first one.
"So what's the social scene like here? Any nightclubs?"
Kevin Keller came behind the girls, "A strip club called the Hoe Zone and a tragic gay bar called Innuendo…."
Betty, Hannah, and Veronica turn to Kevin, who gets in front of them and faces them while walking backward...
Kevin began talking as if he was talking about the weather today, "Friday nights, it's football games, then tailgate parties at the Mall-mart parking lot. Saturday night is movie night, regardless of what's playing at the Bijou - and you better get there early, because we don't have reserved seating in Riverdale."
Kevin stops and puts an arm around Betty's shoulders.
"And Sunday nights? Thank God for HBO."
Hannah walked as if she hadn't noticed a fourth person.
Betty introduced them, "Veronica Lodge, Hannah Winchester meet Kevin Keller. Veronica and Hannah are both new here, Kevin is..."
Veronica smiled, "gay, thank God. Let's be best friends."
Hannah nodded and said, "What's up?"
"Is it true what they say about your dad?" They all paused their walks, and Veronica seemed not to like where this was going.
Betty glares at Kevin. What exactly did veronica's father do?
"That he's the devil incarnate? I stand by my father. Does everyone here know?" Oh, that father. Hannah would say good riddance since Mr. Lodge was nothing but trouble. She looked over the Lodge's deals and companies he established.
Yet Veronica stands by her father despite the fact that he is a bad guy. Hannah could understand that whole daddy's little girl and all, but come on. She should go against him.
Both Betty and Kevin remain silent.
She sarcastically, "Wonderful! Ten minutes in, and I'm already the "Blue Jasmine" of Riverdale High."
Veronica walks away. Betty turns to Kevin and glares at him
Kevin looks confused, "What?"
Betty moves to follow Veronica.
Betty decided to break the ice since Veronica doesn't feel like talking anymore. "So, Hannah, I hope you can enjoy Riverdale."
Hannah gave a dull look. Is she kidding, right?
"I know that since you never went to school…." Betty gave a positive tone, but Hannah cut her off. "Look, Cooper, no offense, but just because I had never gone to a real school, and this does not mean I don't know socializing. So, thanks, but no thanks."
Hannah walked past her. Betty has to admit that Hannah does scare her sometimes. The Cooper girl just doesn't understand why Hannah Winchester doesn't like her. She never did anything terrible to her.
"Wow, kitty got fire." Kevin sounded impressed with Hannah, and Betty started to walk faster in finishing the tour.
Betty said, "...and of course there is still the back the Back-to-School formal dance this weekend."
Veronica gasps and suddenly grabs Betty's arm and pulls her to show her what she's looking at. Archie lingered outside of the music room after being rejected by Josie and the Pussycats.
Hannah sighed and knew what he was doing.
This sudden change from that summer had made him into a different person. He wants to make music as a career. She knows that someone is influencing him, but she does not know yet.
Probably some girl he likes. Guys like that do stupid things for love.
Speaking of being stupid over love.
Hannah can tell based on the expression that this Betty girl doesn't seem to want Veronica to know Andrews's character. She can pretend to be happy all she wants, but she can see what they think.
Betty is in love with Archie.
Yup, she knew that Archie didn't see that in Betty. Sad, but true. Betty should know that reality sucks, and she should have been better prepared for a considerable heartbreak.
Veronica wanted info about Archie, and that info should be with Betty, "There's the hottie you were with last night. The red-headed Ansel Elgort. Is he your boyfriend?"
Kevin and Betty said simultaneously, "No, he's straight. /No, we're just friends.
Veronica smirks, "In that case, mind putting in a word? I've tried every flavor of the boy but orange..."
Hannah gagged at that reaction. Dude, that is her cousin!
Kevin clarified Veronica, "actually, to clarify. Betty and Archie aren't dating, but they are endgame."
She looked at Betty, "You should ask him to the semi-formal then."
He gossiped, "She should, but I heard it might be getting canceled. Because of what happened to Jason. They're going to tell us at the Assembly..."
She looked confused, "Who's Jason, and what happened to him?"
It is late at night when Hannah walks into Pops. She asks Pop something in hushed tones, Pop's booming laugh and answers setting her a bit at ease, and then she turns and walks down the booths.
"Jughead." She tells him with a curt nod, and Jughead cannot help but answer with a nod of his own.
"Marauder's girl." He acknowledges, and then she sits in the booth behind his own. Hannah laughed as it came from Harry Potter stories.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." Jughead chuckles at Hannah's answer. Pop placed her hamburger and French fries with a Coca-cola and chocolate Milkshakes on the side. She ate her meal and pulled out her book. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay.
Jughead shook his head fondly. It is grating at first. He spends ages looking at the page open before him, wondering what to write.
A town car passes by the diner, and as he follows its movement, he sees blonde hair peeking out from behind the window.
Betty is getting a lift home from Veronica Lodge, he imagines. Kevin had been talking loudly about them going shopping for the Semi-formal in his vicinity.
Hannah slurps her drink and flips her pages as she whispers excitedly on each passage.
He has inspired again, and his fingers begin hitting the keyboard.
Tap!
The night of the Semi-formal and Jughead has been at Pops for hours. He did not doubt that everyone in school was going there, even Hannah.
Though in his mind and heart, Hannah surprised him again. Jughead thought maybe she would like to go to semi-formal.
She carries only her purse and helmet from her bike ride. Hannah walked towards him and asked, "Can I sit here?"
Jughead sighs and nods. "Sure."
Hannah pulled out of her phone to look over.
"Not going to call?"
"Just looking through and tempted to want to call, but not sure." Hannah hesitated to call her dad or Uncle Sam, and she wasn't sure if it was safe or were they on a case.
"Well…" Jughead was about to say until Archie came looking dressed, but he rushed when he went to the door. "Jughead, Hannah," Archie's voice comes, and Jughead is startled. He was so caught up giving some advice on what to do.
Archie and Jughead were meant to go on this trip for the summer, but he bailed out on him. Jughead and Archie's friendship was cold, and now they are not talking.
"Is something wrong?" Hannah questioned her cousin. Archie wants to talk to Jughead alone for a bit.
"I think your cousin and I need to talk privately," Jughead said. Hannah felt a bit hurt from being out of the loop, and however, she knew they were friends long before her, so maybe they wanted to patch things up.
She went to order something.
"What are you working on?" He asks as if it meant anything to him. Jughead already knew it didn't.
"My novel. It's about this summer, and Jason Blossom." He waits to see if Archie caught what Abigail did but knows he will be disappointed.
"Seventeen years old, and how will he be remembered? As captain of the water polo team?"
"The Aquaholics? Considering how he died, probably not."
"No, what I mean is...was he doing everything he was supposed to do? Did he even know what that was?"
Jughead looked away for a brief second, wondering what he would say to that. He supposed a part of him still expects Jason to be alive, only missing, and he believed they all did.
He changes the topic then to Archie, making Varsity, and Archie frowns.
"I'm kind of terrified I lost my best friend tonight."
"If you mean Betty," Jughead says, "Whatever happened, just talk to her, you know. It would go a long way. Would have gone a long way with me." Archie nods silently, and the silence drags on.
Archie decided to check Betty's house to see if she was there.
Hannah came back and with a basket of French fries and drinks.
"It's on me," Hannah said which Jughead smiled. He is a bit hungry. So that is what it was for them.
It is time to think if it is the right time to heal or move on.
Reviews are welcome.
