Chapter 1: Brighton Beach Blues...

"They've spotted you, you need to get out of there now!!"

"Come on, search the ship!! I want IX dead!!"

"Kim here, have you managed to ID Number I?"

"You are our very best son, there's nothing here in the SPADS left for you to prove. I have a Class-A Hero mission for you..."

"Kit, remember the training I gave you in channeling your chakra..."

"IT'S NUMBER IX, GET HIM!!!"

"AAAHHH!!!"

The man gasped as he woke up.

Here he calmed down and immediately looked around.

"Wh-where am I."

"Oh! You're up!"

The man looked and saw a woman, a lifeguard. He then noticed that he's inside a Clinic overlooking the beach area.

"How you're feeling?" The woman, Janet, asked the man.

The man grunted as he sat on the bed he's on.

"Easy, easy, you're wounds haven't been healed yet." Janet helped the man to sit down.

"Th-Thank you." The man finally speaks, though his voice was croak due to dehydration.

"You've been asleep for more than 8 hours, I've tended your wounds and I must say you are one lucky man that you were still amongst the living." Janet folded her arms, "No one should've survived with that many injuries."

She then offered her hand, "I'm Janet by the way, Janet Langstrom, but my friends call me Janet."

"Ye-Yeah, thank you Janet." The man said.

"You've got a name? I tried to look for an ID on you but you have little to no identification. Only this key." Janet then went to her drawer at her office and took the key and gave it to the man.

"This key is all I can find in your person, hope this helps."

The man looked at the key, trying to find anything remotely familiar but all he can think off is his head hurting as he sttuggles to remember.

Janet on the other hand, was eyeing the man. She suppressed a blush as she can see that the man was dashingly handsome.

Black hair, piercing blue eyes, and a body that any women swoons over, and she also noticed that the man was half naked, as she can see not one but two Tattoos.

One tattoo on his left shoulder was the number IX, and the other located at his abdomen which is a spiral tattoo with strange writings, almost similar to Hiragana.

But the noticable thing about him, was his birthmarks. Three lines from each cheek, like fox whiskers.

"Anyways." Janet coughed, "I never got to know your name?"

Her response was nothing from the man.

"N-no." The man whispered.

"No?"

"I can't remember, who am I?"

'Oh no, it's worse than I thought.' Janet gasped as she remembered that she saw the gunshot wound to his head as she was treating him, the possibility that the man is suffering amnesia is certain.

"H-hold on sir, I better call 911." Janet then went to her office and got to her phone.

"Hello 911, this is Brighton Beach life guard service, I just found a man on the shore and he's in need of medical treatment..."

But as she was talking on her phone, the man back at the patient room started hearing footsteps nearby.

His sense of danger kicking in, he immediately got up but staggering just a little as he tries to get back on his feet.

The man peeked at the front windows through the hospital curtain dividers, and saw a group of armed men surrounding the area.

"Fuck!"

The man then immediately dashed for Janet as she was unoblivious to the danger.

As Janet was talking, she then heard a cocking noise from outside.

"Janet get down!!!"

He tackled the woman and immediately a hail of fire and lead was delivered.

*RATA-TATA-TATA-TATA-TATA-TATA!!!*

Janet then screamed as the gunmen sprayed the entire compound, shattering everything inside.

"Janet! We need to move NOW!!" The man shouted as they crawl their way out of the crossfire.

The fire of lead continued on for a minute until they stopped, the beach clinic was now trashed.

"Alright, check inside and give me a kill confirmed on the target." The group's leader ordered.

Then, three men armed with guns proceeded to get inside the building.

The tattooed man and Janet, were hiding inside a locker room, which can surpringly fit two people.

"Shh!" The man shushed as he covered Janet's mouth, to quieten the noise.

"Just take a deep breath and don't scream, alright." The man said calmly to Janet which she nodded silently.

Then a kick in a door was heard, and through the silted locker windows the two saw the three gunmen searching around the place.

"Hey, have you found the guy?"

"Negative, didn't see a body anywhere."

"The Mongoose won't like this, he's been a raging asshole ever since Number IX is still alive."

'Number IX?' The man thought to himself, as he then noticed the Number IX tattooed on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I can't believe that the guy was still breathin'! After all, we all saw the Mongoose put three bullets into that guy."

Janet then looked at the man, IX's, scars. There are more wounds that she can count and there were bullet scars as well as cuts, gashes, and burns.

"Shit, we found nothing!" One of the men called to his radio. "Boss, we can't find Number IX, I repeat, the asshole is nowhere to be found, It looked like he had just disappeared.

"WHAT! Damnit, okay. Search the entire beach and search every rock, sand, umbrella, tree, just get the target at all costs!!" The leader on the radio said, "...And get me to the Mongoose, He will not like this."

As the men start to leave the clinic, IX sees his chance as he got out of the locker.

"What are you doing!? You'll get yourself killed!" Janet hissed.

"Don't worry Janet, I'll take care of this just get to cover" IX assured her.

Then IX grabbed a syringe from a nearby table, he then approached one of the gunmen who is the last to leave, from behind stealthily.

"Pst, hey!" IX whispered behind his ear, the gunman turned around.

"Wha-!" Before he could act, a syringe needle was then rammed into his left eyeball, IX then squeezed the syringe which is filled with anaesthetic which reached into his brain causing the man to convulse and foam around his mouth.

"Hggrruhhkkk!!!" The man struggled to removed the syringe but IX held onto him tightly, after the brief struggle the man then went limp, dead.

"Oh my god!" Janet looked at the dead gunman in horror, covering her mouth threatening to remove the contents of her stomach.

Then IX searched the gunman's corpse and grabs his gun, A Glock-17, and some ammo.

"Janet, are you still with me?" IX said to her, trying to at least comfort her after witnessing the killing.

"Ye-Yeah, I am."

"I'm sorry you had to see that." IX said guiltily.

"D-don't worry, I know what's at stake."

"Hey Tom! Get over here now!" The dead gunman's radio shouted.

"Shit, they might suspect something." IX cursed, but then he noticed a few propane tanks lying nearby.

IX grinned, "I have a crazy idea."

Back at the gunmen...

"Tom?! Damnit." The leader cursed as he didn't get any response in his radio, "You two, go and see what's Tom taking so long."

The two men that were with the gunman then went back, through the main entrance.

"Tom!! C'mon we gotta go! The target isn't there!!" One of them shouted through the main door.

Still no response.

The men slowly began to realize that something's gone horribly wrong.

"We're coming in!" The two men then readied to go inside when all of a suddenly...

BAM!

The entrance door slammed itself open, which knocked back the two gunmen.

Then all of a sudden, A medical trolley came rolling outside as it was headed for the group of men with the leader.

"What the fuck!?" The leader shouted as the trolley got closer and closer.

However leader's face turned to panic as he saw the trolley's contents: Two propane tanks, and medical instruments: Scalpels, needles, syringes, and a few sharp objects.

"SHIT!"

Then a shot is fired from inside the clinic, the bullet then travelled to one of the propane tanks.

BOOM!!!

(Play XIII soundtrack (Lionel Gaget) - Brighton Beach)

The explosion killed the group including the leader, the sharp tools did it's effect as all of the gunmen were either blown to pieces by the explosion or were impaled by the sharp fragments.

"What the-!." The two gunmen from the entrance saw the carnage and were stunned.

"Shit, get inside NOW! He's still there!!"

The two went in fast, but they were greeted with two throwing knives to their foreheads.

"Uhhh!!!" The two men groaned and fell, as the last thing they saw was Number IX who throwed the knives.

With now the entire group of attackers killed, IX and Janet finally got out of the clinic.

"Okay Janet, stay right behind me and get to cover if you can." IX then went to one of the corpses and grabbed a Kalashnikov and some ammo.

Then the two made a run for the parking lot where Janet's car is located.

However, the explosion had caught many of the Mongoose's men attention, and started to move to IX and Janet's direction.

"There he is!"

"Kill him now!!"

A large number of men started to shoot at IX but IX, with his seemingly unbelivable skill was able to dodge many bullets as he can.

Janet looked in shock as the man she saved, despite having multiple injuries was able to move around fine like he's an olympic athelete, and looked like he never had any sort of injuries in the first place.

Then IX shoots back with his AK and was able to kill many of his killers.

As Janet and IX crossed over to the pier, they spotted a speedboat moving right past them.

In the speedboat, a bald man, wearing a trench coat shouted.

"Don't let him get away this time!!!"

IX then sees men from the cliffs firing at them, he fires back.

"Eliminate him!!!"

IX was able to kill all of them as they fell from the cliffs unto their deaths.

"I want that safe key!!"

'Safe key!?' IX thought as he remembered the key Janet gave him.

As the two came close to the parking lot, more men came in via helicopter.

As IX saw the helicopter, his memory began to flash before his eyes.

"The helicopter... I remember..."

Memory flash...

IX remembers he's inside on a boat, looking for something, or someone.

However, he was compromised.

"They've spotted you! Get off the boat, Now!!!"

"Kim here, do you read me!?"

He remembers running, as men from all sides started to surround him.

He gets out of the cabins, and he's outside of the yacht's balcony.

"Hey I've got him!!" One of his attacks spotted him and many of his fellows now surrounded him.

With no way out he's considering his option in front of him.

"Jump now!"

Without a moment's hesitation, IX jumped off the balcony...

But one of the gunmen, with a ridiculous amount of luck, managed to shoot IX right through the head before he reached to the water.

As IX was floating in the water, away from the boat and the gunmen shooting right at him but in failure.

"Owww... My head..."

Back to the present...

IX shook his head, and started to fire back at the attackers.

"You can't run forever, Number IX!!"

As the boat speeds away, IX and Janet, with a trail of bodies left behind finally arrived to the parking lot.

Janet, exhausted as the adrenaline finally collapse in shock and relief.

"We-we made it..."

"Yeah, we did it..."

IX and Janet looked at each other, then Janet hugged him.

"Thank you, for saving my life." Janet whispered.

IX returned the hug, as he was too grateful because Janet saved his back at the beach.

After a moment, they break off and got inside Janet's jeep.

"If you don't mind, I'll drive." IX said.

Janet accepts, and they drove away from the beach, with sirens in the distance.

(End Soundtrack...)

Later, on the road...

"You know, for someone who doesn't seem to remember anything, you still remember how to drive a car." Janet mused.

The drive was silent for a while, but IX was in deep thought.

'Who am I? And who is that man in the trench coat? Why does he want me dead? And what's with this key?'

Those were the many questions running through his head, and none of the answers seem to come out.

"Hey, I know you are confused right now but why did those men seem hell bent on killing you? Did you do something that pissed them off?"

"I don't know." IX sighed, "I can't even remember anything before you found me on the beach."

"I saw you back there." Janet said, "I treated your wounds and I was in shock, you had scars that would be impossible for anyone to survive, and the way you moved, you seemed to ignore the pain despite the recent wounds you have."

"Probably my survival instincts probably." IX shrugged.

"And the way you fight, I've seen men fight in the field, I was a field medic before, but you... You fought like a professional spec-ops." Janet said.

"Why thank you" IX said in playful sarcasm.

"While you can't remember anything, your skills are still there."

"I know, that's the part that scares me Janet." IX admitted, "Those men I killed, I didn't even hesitate to pull the trigger, you would think that someone like me, an amnesiac, would be scared? No, maybe it's my past, my past is probably these men's reasons why they are determined to kill me."

Janet looked at IX worriedly, IX clenched the steering wheel tightly. His expression darkened.

"IX."

"What?"

"IX, it's what those men back at the beach called me." IX said, his eyes on the road.

"Well 'Number IX', I'm sure you will find out about your past soon enough." Janet assured him as she placed her hand on his shoulder.

"The key?" IX guessed.

"Yeah, the key had a name tag attached to it. It's says 'Winslow Bank'"

"Winslow Bank? I feel I might've heard that name before..."

"Winslow Bank is the second largest bank in America, though JPMorgan Chase Co. is the number 1, Winslow Bank has the most clients ranging from Monarchs, Presidents, and Businessmen, and they have the most political connections in Washington than JP Morgan." Janet explained.

As the Jeep drove on, they arrived at a small suburb just a few miles from the Big Apple. They arrived at one of the houses, It was a one story, with a single garage.

"We're here, this is my place." Janet said as the Jeep was parked inside the garage and immediately went inside.

"Make yourself at home, IX." Janet said.

A few hours later...

"You still can't remember?"

"Nope."

The two people were sitting in a dining table together as IX was eating dinner that Janet prepared for him.

"I can get you to the hospital, maybe the doctors can help you?"

"Not an option Janet, the moment we are outside, the chances are that the men that tried to kill us are there as well, I don't want to put you in danger."

Janet sighed, she wanted to help but IX is stubborn and protective of her.

"That what can you do?"

"I'll go to Winslow Bank alone, first thing tomorrow morning."

"Alone?"

"I can take care of myself just fine, taking you with me is just going to put you in uneccesary danger. I can't have that."

Janet tried to argue but ultimately IX's right, he can take care of himself unlike her.

In fact, she's forever grateful to IX. If not for IX she would've been dead at the beach.

However, Janet looked at IX again and her heart thumped as if she was struck by an arrow.

The man was attractive, his smooth baritone voice, his blackened yet slick hair, his body despite being scarred was muscular and made him more attractive to her.

Janet tried to suppress a blush yet failed.

"Um Janet, you okay?" IX looked at her with concern, as he got up from his chair and went over to her.

Janet's face turned even redder than before.

"You have a fever?" IX then touched Janet's forehead with his.

This was the final straw and Janet got up suddenly.

"I need to go to the bathroom, 'scuse me!" And Janet bolted and went upstairs.

IX then tilted his head, confused.

"What was that all about?"

In IX's Mindscape...

Inside IX's mind, an amused fox looked at the scene unfold before him.

"Oh dear, t's seems that your amnesia might've affected your control over your pheromones. The fox pheromones began to leak and affected any females in the area, and that human female he's in contact with was affected too."

The Fox, Kurama, had trained with IX before his amnesia before and during the "War in the Desert".*

IX and the fox had become a team, Kurama taught IX in the use of chakra. Which surprisingly, is not only abundant in this world, but also corrupt and tainted due to the destruction of the enviornment.

One of the things Kurama taught IX is the use of "Fox Pheromones" which the name implies, releases pheromones into the air, it's intended use however is different.

Unlike animal pheromones which only attract specific species, Kurama's Pheromones is much more than that.

Fox Pheromones also affect humans more spefically females, which causes to cloud their senses and create feelings of affection towards the source of the pheromones.

However, the effects depends on how long the intended subject is in contact or in close proximity with the source. At first if the amount of pheromones released is low, then the effects will be slow about 24-48 hours before the victim is fully infected.

Which is something that the human, Janet, is experiencing right now.

"Naruto better deal with this before it can get out of hand." Kurama said to himself.

Back to IX...

It's night time, and IX is checking every window and door to see if the men from earlier are stalking them.

After seeing no mysterious men he decides to sleep for the night, he decides to sleep in the living room couch instead after refusing the offer to sleep in her bed.

As he laid down and slept, he felt someone lay down with him in the couch.

It was Janet, and she's wearing only her bathrobe and nothing underneath.

"J-Janet!?"

"Shh... It's okay." Janet then placed a finger in her chest, her eyes looked at IX with love and lust.

Both of them unaware that Kurama's pheromones is affecting Janet, and that IX's lack of control is also contributing to Janet's state.

"If you can't sleep with me, then I might as well sleep here with you instead." Janet sultrily said as she intentionally moved her shoulders to slip the robe down, exposing her naked shoulders and half exposing her breasts.

IX gulped nervously, but deep inside his subconcious mind he grinned.

"Let me show you my way of saying thank you again for saving my life, and perhaps my way of saying that 'I like you.'" Then she loosened her robe, and exposed her nude, naked body to IX.

"So? Would you have, handsome...?"

After a few moments, IX smirked.

"Well then, let me show my gratitude for you saving my life at the beach." Then he grabbed Janet's shoulders, and pulled her into a hot, french kiss.

Then that night, moans and groans are all the quiet New York suburb can hear.

End of Chapter 1.
Epilogue...Later that night...Brighton Beach, 1100 P.M.

The place looked like the scene of a warzone, as dozens of bodies were lined up in body bags and hundred of shell casings were everywhere.

The Police, and the FBI were investigating the crime scene, many forensics and investigations were conducted.

One figure amongst them, stood out from all the rest.

"Colonel Amos, we found something that might interest you at the Clinic." One of the policemen approached the man.

This man, wore a red suit with a bowtie and a rose lapel. He's an old man with one arm.

"Very well officer, take me there." Colonel Amos replied.

At the clinic, which was absolutely trashed was investigated as well, Colonel Amos stepped inside as he saw a group of police officers tapping into a telephone which was miraculously undamaged.

"Alright, care to tell me what's interesting?"

"Sir, we managed to tap and hear the recorded call between a 911 dispatcher and a Ms. Janet Langstrom, the call was cut abruptly when the shooting started. The 911 dispatch heard the shooting and immediately called the police."

"Very well, let's hear it." Amos nodded

Amos and a colleague then puts on their headphones and hears the conversation.

"Hello 911, this is Brighton Beach life guard service, I just found a man on the shore and he's in need of medical treatment."

"Okay, can you give me this description of this person so we can identify him."

"He's about approximately about either 25 or 30, he's got black hair, blue eyes, and he has a roman numeral of the number IX on his shoulder..."

"WAIT!! Play that last line again!!" Colonel Amos demanded.

"...he has a roman number of the number IX on his shoulder..."

'Is this who I think he is?!' Amos thought to himself, as he was hunting down this man for months.

Now, he has a lead.

"Officer, did any witness talk about two people that came out of this clinic?' Amos said.

"Yes sir, only one of the witnesses say that after an explosion just in front of the clinic he saw a man and a woman got out of the clinic, we assume the woman was Ms. Langstrom, the other person, we can't identify."

"Excellent, thank you Gentlemen." Amos then got out of the Clinic.

A little after, Amos is inside a traffic surveillance van, looking at the screens.

"Can you track down Ms. Langstrom's vehicles?"

"Yes Sir, just give us a minute."

After more than three minutes, there Amos saw the Jeep Janet and IX's driving in.

"Officer Tromley, get me that Jeep's number plate." Amos said as he's sights focused on the Jeep's driver.

"We have you now, Michael Rowland."

End

Okay, side note...

There will be major differences in the story of XIII.

As you can see, Janet the lifeguard from the XIII video game is alive. In the original, she was gunned down by the Mongoose's men in the first few seconds of the first mission. So yeah, I let her live.

So, while the core story will be the same, I'll be making some variations in the story.

As you can tell, this is a X-over fic, so expect other characters from other games injected into the world.

And as for why IX/Naruto has black hair instead of Blond? The reason is simple. The man he's impersonating is the brother of Steve Roland, and he shares the same physical characteristics. So 'they' placed IX into plastic surgery and dyed his heair black.

Do you see any sense now?

Anyway, See you at the next chapter...
