Overhaul was feeling a bit of satisfaction. The first blood draw he did was a success, and thanks to the symbiote healing Eri, he was able to take more than he did in the past. Now, he expected the same to happen this time, and he now waited while his goons brought Eri into the medical room for the next blood extraction.

One of the other doctors walked up to Overhaul. "She's all yours."

Overhaul nodded and turned to enter the room, but suddenly, one of the doctors inside began to scream as the symbiote shot out of Eri's arm, grabbing on to his and throwing him into the wall. The others backed away in fear as the mass burst from Eri's body, throwing itself into a drain on the floor and disappearing.

Overhaul managed to contain his anger, but his eye twitched as he yelled to his goons. "Get that thing back!"

However, they were far too late; the symbiote had ridden through the drain, through the sewers, and oozed out into the night. As it crawled around, I began to look for someone powerful it could bond too. The problem was that there were not very many people walking around, and most of them were Quirkless.

"Just my luck" it groaned, "I'm in a country where powerful people make up the majority and I happen to come out in the one place where they're hardly around."

Suddenly, its senses went off as two young men passed by, one with wild green hair and the other with brown spiky hair. It didn't know them, but the symbiote could tell that both were more powerful than the others; it decided to follow them, and quietly attached itself to the pant leg of the brown haired one as they continued on into an apartment complex.

"Here we are." Midoriya announced as he and Chris stopped in front of one of the apartment doors. Midoriya reached out to grab the handle, then turned back to Chris.

"Just to forewarn you" he nervously said, "My mom's super friendly, but she can sometimes overdo it without realizing, so don't be surprised if…"

"I'm sure she's fine, Midoriya" Chris interrupted. Midoriya nodded before opening the door and shouting. "Mom! I'm home!"

Just then, Midoriya's mom, a shorter woman with green hair, ran over, a huge smile on her face.

"Izuku!" she happily said, "You're just in time. Dinner's just about done! Oh, and who is this young man?"

"This is Chris Maverick" Midoriya introduced, "He's the transfer student the class is going to be hosting until the dorms are finished renovating."

"Oh, yes! I remember now! And hello to you, Chris."

Chris waved. "Hi."

Midoriya's mom waved the two inside, showing them to the table after they had put their bags down.

"So, Chris" Midoriya's mom asked, "Where are you from?"

"Manhattan" Chris replied, "In America."

Midoriya lit up, "Isn't that one of the most active cities in the world for heroes?"

Chris nodded, "Yup. It's where quite a few teams make their home: the X-Men, The Fantastic Four, even the Avengers."

Midoriya's smile grew wider. "You've seen the Avengers!?"

"Not in action, but I've seen Iron Man fly through the city from time to time. Spider-Man's also a common sight"

Midoriya's mom chucked as she brought over three plates of food. "You certainly seem like a hero nerd, just like Izuku here."

Chris casually shrugged, "That kinda happens when you come from a city full of superheroes."

"You mean this is your first time outside of America?" Midoriya's mom asked in wonder.

Chris shook his head. "No. I've actually been here to Japan once before on a sort of field trip with my old school. Didn't see much though; we just hung out at camp in the woods the whole time."

Both Midoriya and his mom looked interested. "Oooo! Tell us!"

The rest of the night went similar, with Midoriya and Chris becoming good friends as they finished dinner and then did whatever homework they needed to. Chris found that Midoriya was a huge help as Chris didn't know much about some of the material.

"One of the many downsides to being a late arrival, I guess." He sighed in frustration.

"Eh, don't worry" Midoriya reassured, "You'll catch up pretty quick."

Finally, they both decided to get some sleep. Chris made a makeshift bed out of the different blankets Midoriya's mom had lent him; it wasn't much, but Chris didn't mind. All he cared about was that he was finally at UA and couldn't wait to become the hero he always wanted to be.

Meanwhile, the symbiote that had attached to his pant leg earlier now silently began to attach to Chris himself as the boy slept, not completely, but just enough to look into his mind. As it looked into his memories, the symbiote became more and more intrigued by what it saw.

"Interesting" it mused. Finally, it made its decision; this boy could use someone like the symbiote to fulfill his dream, and he symbiote, in turn, might be able to save Eri with his help in the future. Slowly (so as to not wake Chris up), the symbiote melted into Chris's body, bonding with him, though making careful plans not to reveal itself just yet. Soon though, its time would come…
