Flashback
It was a few moments after the UA Entrance Exams concluded and the judge's panel for the exam was discussing the performance of the examinees.
"It looks like we'll be having an interesting school year with these new arrivals." Principal Nezu commented.
"I'll say." The Gunslinging Hero: Snipe said. "Those little ranchers sure showed potential."
"I can't wait to get my hands on the new blood! I'm so excited to teach these kids~!" Nemuri Kayama AKA The R-Rated Heroine: Midnight said enthusiastically.
"Hold your horses Nemuri, you're gonna scare away the kids." Present Mic said, admonishing his best friend.
"I must say I haven't seen such a performance in the UA Entrance Exams since All-Might," Bang noted as he reviewed the tapes of the exam.
"Thanks for the praise Bang and I can say without a doubt that this class is going to be our best yet."
"Is that so?" a slender and tall, pale-skinned man with messy, shoulder-length black hair that partially hangs in front of his face and often half-opened black eyes. He has a worn-out appearance, looking fatigued. His facial hair is in a stubbly, unkempt state. This man is Shota Aizawa AKA the Erasure Hero: Eraserhead.
"Well I'll be the judge of that," he said, narrowing his eyes on Izuku in particular.
Present Day
Izuku had never been more excited or more nervous in his entire life. He finally made it to his dream school, UA High School. He stood in front of the door which had the words Class 1-A written on it. Izuku noticed the large size of the door, noting that it must be that size to accommodate students with Gigantification-Type Quirks. The Salvato Sisters and Katsuki had already arrived. Now it was the moment of truth for Izuku. He was about to enter the classroom that would be the first step on his journey to becoming the number one Pro Hero in Japan.
"Will you please get your feet off the desk!" were the first words Izuku heard when he entered the classroom. He saw Katsuki with his feet on the desk, leaning back casually in his seat with his hands behind his head without a single care in the world. In front of Katsuki was the spectacled blue-haired boy he ran into during the exam. He looked exasperated and was moving his arms around like a robot.
"Why don't you take a hike Four-Eyes, I ain't in the mood to deal with you," Katsuki said dismissively.
"Is that the way you speak to people?" the glasses-wearing teen said dumbfounded.
"Who cares? As a matter of fact which middle school are you from, you two-bit extra?" Katsuki asked condescendingly.
"I attended Somei Junior High School. My name is Tenya Iida-!"
"Somei?! Well, aren't you an elite! No wonder you've got a stick up your ass."
"What nerve! You want to be a hero!?" Tenya said incredulously.
Tenya then noticed Izuku standing at the doorway and made his way to him. Izuku braced himself for another confrontation but was surprised when Tenya bowed before him.
"Let me apologize for my crass behavior towards you during the exams. Your actions in the practical exam proved that I was wrong about you."
"Thanks for the apology, I hope we can get along better from now on," Izuku said, accepting Tenya's apology.
"Hey Curly Hair, glad I found you!" the brown-haired girl who Izuku saved in the exam.
"You made it just like I thought you would! I'm Ochako Uraraka, let's do our best!" She said cheerfully.
"I am glad you made it in too! I am Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you again!" Izuku replied.
"Huh looks like Deku is getting more comfortable talking to girls," Bakugo noted.
Izuku went to his seat and there he saw the four Salvato Sisters: Monika, Natsuki, Yuri, and Sayori.
"Hey Izu! You finally came!" Natsuki said cheerfully.
"You sure took your time coming to school. What's gotten into you?" Monika said teasingly.
"Oh, lay off him, Monika." Yuri chided as her sister giggled in response.
"Gotta say, you've certainly usurped me as the champion of being late!" Sayori laughed as Izuku rolled his eyes but still smiled, it was just like the old times.
Izuku took his seat which was the second seat in the second row. He was seated behind Monika, to the right of Yuri, in front of Natsuki and two rows ahead of Sayori.
"Hey, guys."
Izuku and the Salvato Sisters turned to the glasses-wearing dark-haired girl who stood in front of them. It was someone they never thought they would see again, the absent seventh member of their group of friends: Saki Yoshida.
"Saki!" they said in unison and rushed at her, nearly toppling her over.
"We missed you!" Izuku said.
"You changed so much!" Monika added.
"I'm so glad that you're back, Saki!" Natsuki said, crying tears of joy.
"Where have you been?" Yuri asked, smiling the widest she ever had.
"We have so much catching up to do!" Sayori said, beaming with happiness.
"I missed you to guys. I'm happy we're back together again."
"Long time no see Stone Face." Katsuki said walking up to Saki.
"What's up Pomeranian?" Saki replied with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Oy! How many times have I told you not to call me that!" Katsuki yelled.
"Ha! I knew that would rile you up! Never change, Bakugo." Saki said laughing.
"Tch. I'm saying this right now, don't think you can leave us all behind! We're stronger than before and I'm still the one who's gonna be the next #1 Hero! So you better watch out!" Katsuki boasted.
Saki merely smirked. "Challenge accepted."
Before more could be said from the reunited friends, they were interrupted by the sound of movement from a yellow sleeping bag.
"Um guys, is that a caterpillar?" Natsuki asked, confused as the sleeping bag opened up to reveal a man inside.
"You guys wasted too much time blabbering. I want everyone to change into their P.E. uniforms and head to the track field." He said without missing a single beat.
At the track field, the class was assembled in their PE Uniforms.
"Today we'll be having a Quirk Apprehension Test. UA gives its faculty a lot of freedom to run their classes the way they seem fit." Aizawa explained. "I will be testing your competence in using your Quirks. Think of this as a way to see if you are fit to attend UA."
Aizawa then pulled out a coursebook and read through it, going over the entire class.
"Yuuga Aoyama."
"Here, merci~!" called out the blonde-haired boy from the practical exam.
"Mina Ashido."
"Here!" Cheerfully called a pink-skinned, alien-looking girl.
"Tsuyu Asui."
"Here, Kero," Croaked a girl with long black-green hair and a frog-like face.
"Tenya Iida."
"Here!" Tenya called out, hand raised.
"Ochako Uraraka."
"Here," Ochako called out.
"Mashiraou Oujiro."
"Here," Called a blonde boy with a long, muscular tail.
"Denki Kaminari."
"Here," Called another blonde young man with black lightning bolts marking it, likely due to hair dye.
"Eijirou Kirishima."
"Here!" Called out a red-headed boy, his body looked rather angular for a teenager.
"Kouji Kouda."
"Here..." Timidly muttered a boy who almost looked like a living mountain.
"Rikidou Sato."
"Here!" Called out a large young man with thick lips.
"Mezo Shouji."
"Here," Called a man wearing a face mask, speaking through the shape-shifting arms that spread from his normal ones.
"Kyouka Jiro."
"Here," Called a girl with dark blue hair, her earlobes extending into plug jacks.
"Hanta Sero."
"Here," Called out a boy with tape dispensers on his elbows, as well as short black hair.
"Fumikage Tokoyami."
"Here," Called a young man with a black bird's head, but with regular teeth.
"Shoto Todoroki."
"Here," Said a young man with the left side of his face scarred around the eye, with red hair on that side and white hair on the right side.
"Tooru Hagakure."
"Here!" Called a girl with short wavy, light-green hair, bushy eyelashes, and big round bright blue eyes.
"Katsuki Bakugo."
"Here, teach." Katsuki gruffly called out.
"Izuku Midoriya."
"Here."
"Minoru Mineta."
"Here," Called out a really short kid, his purple hair seeming to have spheres growing out of it.
"Momo Yaoyorozu."
"Here!" Called a young woman who had long, black hair tied back in a large ponytail.
"Monika Salvato."
"Here!"
"Sayori Salvato."
"Present!"
"Yuri Salvato."
"Here..."
"Natsuki Salvato."
"Here!"
"Saki Yoshida."
"I'm here."
"Meggy Spletzer!"
"Hey, I'm here!" The orange-haired girl Natsuki met in the Entrance Exam called.
"Tari Playsta."
"Um, h-here..." Nervously spoke Meggy's blue-haired friend.
"Saiko Bichitaru."
"Here." The same girl who got Tenya off Izuku's back in the Entrance Exam casually called.
"Melony Korone."
"Zzzzz..." The girl was asleep while standing up but a gentle nudge from Meggy alerted her. "Oh, here..."
"Axol Lerdwichagul."
"I am here, Sensei!" Proudly called Melony's axolotl-esque friend.
"Okay, that's everyone," Aizawa said. "From here on out, your lessons will be much different than the standardized tests you're used to. You'll be receiving practical lessons that will allow you to practice your Quirks and understand their strengths and limitations. The Ministry of Education likes to pretend that 'all men created equal' means that everyone is supposed to be born the same, so they hold the strongest students back. But that's not rational. From this point onward, you will be pushed to your limits."
The teacher turned to Izuku and tossed him a softball that had a mechanical band around it.
"Midoriya, you got the highest score on the practical exam. What's the farthest you've ever thrown a softball in junior high?"
"I think it was about seventy meters."
Aizawa nodded. "Okay, this time, try using your Quirk. Put every ounce of what you have into it. Anything goes, but stay in the pitching circle."
"Sensei, with all due respect, I have a lot of powers due to my Quirk. What should I use?"
Aizawa simply smirked. "Surprise me."
Nodding, Izuku stood in the pitching circle and took a deep breath before using Luffy's [Gum-Gum Fruit] to stretch his throwing arm back, holding the ball tightly as he coiled his stretching arm around, winding it up more and more before he opened his eyes and made his throw.
"GUM-GUM...RIFLE THROW!"
The ball shot forward like a spiraling bullet as Izuku snapped it away from him. Waving his wobbling arm around, Izuku watched the ball clear the distance as Aizawa showed the rest of the class the score; 700 meters.
"You all need to know your maximum limit," Aizawa said. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a hero. But keep in mind you're not here to have fun. You'll be participating in eight physical exercises to determine your potential."
Everyone looked pretty excited to show off their stuff but that was when Aizawa dropped a bombshell on all of them.
"Also, as an added incentive, whoever gets last place will be deemed hopeless and therefore expelled."
"Wait! Ochako called out. "That's not fair! How can you just expel one of us on the first day?"
"Natural disasters, power-hungry villains, catastrophic accidents, none of those are fair," Aizawa said sternly. "If you're going to be heroes, you need to learn how to fight back against that unfairness, and you can't do that by just complaining. UA will be pitching one test after another in an effort to break you. You'll only survive by becoming unbreakable. You'll need to be more than strong... You'll need to be Plus Ultra."
Aizawa's words really hit the students hard. It finally sunk in for them, just how much they'd have to go through in order to become heroes.
