A Caster Will Rise: A Harry Potter/Huntik: Secrets and Seekers Fanfiction

Plot: doctor3027's Harry Casterwill and the Seekers Legacy Response: "In the shadows of the night, when you face the darkness. Call the power of the Light: let your heart be fearless. Never give it up, if you're strong enough, count on power!" More than just the words of a catchy theme tune.

Challenge Information: This is a crossover with Huntik: Secrets and Seekers. Wanting nothing to do with her little sister's child, Petunia decides to reach out to her estranged twin sister Rose Casterwil, and have her take care of their nephew Harry Potter.

WBWL fic, James is alive and leaves Harry with Petunia due Harry seemingly having no magical ability.

Petunia has a twin sister Rose, who decided to take on the maiden name of their mother's family, the Casterwills, who are regarded as a extremely old family in the wizarding world.

The Casterwills have branch families in most magical communities across the world, unlike most magical groups the Casterwills have adapted well to the modern world.

The Casterwills are part of a international magic group called the Huntik Foundation.

Rose blood adopts Harry, deciding to teach him the magic of her family after sensing potential in him.

Requirements: Harry is more knowledgeable of the magical world due to traveling with his aunt, and is thus aware of the fame he and his brother share.

Harry is not a horcrux.

Harry still receives a letter for Hogwarts, but he has Casterwill magic at his disposal as well.

When going to Hogwarts Harry should take at least 2 titans with him (info on titans in huntik can be found on huntik wiki) and be sorted into Ravenclaw.

Forbidden: Slash

Harry/male character

Harry getting along with his father.

The British Ministry being able to cow the Casterwills.

Suggested: Harry should have friends among the muggle-born, due to being knowledgeable of the muggle world.

Whether Harry has friends among the pure-bloods is up to the author.

Optional: The Casterwills being a fifth house at Hogwarts. (Just something I think is interesting)

The basilisk could actually be a King Basilisk titan (which actually turns its victims to stone, but can be undone by the titan)

Author's Note: So, for a long time now, as an old fan of this particular fandom and its amazing powers, characters and themes, I've wanted to come up with a story to honour that fan-love; now, thanks to the creator of this challenge, I have that chance.

Now, to any diehard HP or Huntik fans out there, I guess it goes without saying that this is going to be a SERIOUS AU of both fandoms; in fact, for reasons that will be made clear in the story, the Huntik canon is, pretty much, ignored, so if you're one of those fans who likes reading crossover that slightly shift the canon of the second fandom, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

Anyway, you all know what I always say, don't you?

If you don't like it, don't read it.

Chapter 1: Long Lost Family

Suffice to say, when Petunia Elizabeth Dursley opened the front door, after hearing her doorbell ring for what seemed like an eternity, the last thing she expected to find was a boy who looked no more than four years old, practically glued to her doorstep, sobbing profusely. He was dressed in fairly normal-looking clothes while, to Petunia's surprise, he also looked like a war-torn orphan, as he had a rope around his neck, accompanied by an envelope that dangled from the end of it.

When the boy turned, upon hearing the sound of the door opening, and Petunia saw a flash of green in his eyes – the colour of which she hadn't even had to think about in almost five years, if not longer – her heart stopped dead, not with fear, but with disbelief and shock.

The boy, who had a head of wild, raven-black hair that looked like it had never known the touch of a hairbrush, then sniffled sadly before, looking up at the thin, bony Dursley woman, he managed to gasp out, "M…M…My Daddy! He…he's gone away…and he…he said I…I couldn't be…be his son anymore, cause…cause I…I'm not strong enough…like…like Jaime…"

Suddenly, Petunia's heart turned colder than cold as the realisation, not only of what had happened, but where the boy had come from and why he was alone on her doorstep, hit her like a cannonball to the gut.

Looking around, part of her hoping that none of her neighbours would ask questions, she gulped hard as she held out a hand, "Come…come inside, Harry…it…it's going to be all right…come on…I…I've got juice in the kitchen, if…if you want it?"

As soon as the small boy took her hand, however, Petunia's eyes widened as she felt a part of herself flare up in alarm and recognition.

The feeling of this part of her rearing its head after what felt like an age was not cause for celebration, however: for this part of her was one that she'd brutally, if not stubbornly told anyone who would listen that she was done with it all after…after what had happened to her Father. It was this same instant that had seen her and her perfect sister, Lily, drifting apart, even after their parents, as well as her other sibling, had tried so hard to make it all work out when Lily had gone to her magic school and Petunia and Rose…

Suddenly, Petunia's eyes widened.

'Rose!'

Pulling the small boy, little Harry James Potter, inside, Petunia closed the door and, being as careful as she could, she removed the envelope and the rope from around his neck before, pointing to the kitchen, she explained, "The juice is in the jug: do you need help pouring it out?"

"No, ma'am," replied the small boy, earning a weak, if not slightly-emotional smile from Petunia.

Such a little gentleman.

Nothing like his show-off egomaniac of a Father, who'd all but brainwashed Lily into turning her back on her family after their Father's death.

Watching Harry go into the kitchen, Petunia waited until the door was closed before, running into the living room, she grabbed the phone off of its stand and, without needing to check her diary or any other source of information, she quickly stabbed the numbers in the order of a single phone number, albeit one that Petunia still felt cold inside when she lifted the phone to her ear.

It was a number she knew off by heart by now because, unlike Lily, Rose had never wanted to stop talking with her baby sister and, unlike Lily's husband, Rose's gentleman friend – or was it her fiancé now? Petunia couldn't remember in all her excitement and eagerness to deal with this before things got too far out of hand – was not only well-acquainted with the non-magical world, but he also showed genuine grief and pain for the loss of Rose and Petunia's Father.

Which was why, after just five rings, Petunia felt a great swell of relief rise up inside of her when a strong male voice answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Dante?" asked Petunia, earning a gasp of amused surprise from the voice on the other end.

"Petunia? Well, this is a nice surprise; we were just talking about you and your family…talk about spooky…anyway, what can we do for you?" asked the voice on the other end, his words filled with amusement, strength and honesty.

Three things James had never shown to Petunia, unless he was getting high off of the attention he received and then cracking jokes about her and her non-magical world.

Licking her lips nervously, Petunia quickly replied, "I…I need your help…you and Rosie…how soon can you two get to my place in Surrey?"

"Hmm," replied the man named Dante, and Petunia could have sworn blind that she actually felt him looking at a watch, or maybe checking out the view out of the window, before he spoke again.

"We can be there at around 3pm, British Time…it's currently 10:13am here in Venice, so it must only be early over there, huh?"

"I've been up for a while," explained Petunia, a feeling of great relief rising up inside her as she continued, "Vernon's taken Dudley on a camping trip with some friends from school, so I'm all on my own for a couple of days…or so I thought, anyway."

Suddenly, Petunia heard another gasp, accompanied by a click from the headset, suggesting that someone else had been listening in, before a sharp female voice asked, "What do you mean or so you thought? What's going on, Tuney? If your son's not there, why would you…"

"My son isn't, Rosie," answered Petunia, knowing that her sister was, likely, listening in and conversing from a second phone set up in the home of her and her spouse. "But our nephew is…do you remember Harry?"

Another gasp.

Seconds later, Rose growled down the phone, "Screw a couple of hours! Dante, get ready and go get some things. We're Apparating over there as soon as you get clearance from the Foundation. In the meantime, Tuney, just tell me: is our sister there?"

"No."

"Her husband?"

"No."

"What about little Jaime? If his brother is there…"

"Harry was here alone," explained Petunia, clenching her teeth in a way that, although she'd never admit it aloud, made her sound like someone else from their hometown who'd drifted apart with Lily and, especially, James over the years, as she explained in a hissing tone. "He had nothing, but the clothes on his back and a damn evacuee look about him: they'd even tied an envelope around his neck like he was being evacuated into the country. And, the worst part is: when he saw me, he…"

Suddenly, a loud crack filled the room, making Petunia drop the phone.

To her surprise, when she turned to face the source of the disturbance, she found herself looking at a very attractive lady with reddish-coloured hair that had several blonde streaks here and there, almost making her hair look more like raspberry ripple. Her eyes were a fierce shade of green, but with a hint of blue to them that mostly surrounded the outer area of her irises. She was dressed in a short pair of denim jeans and a sleeveless, blue shirt, with a single roped pendant around her neck.

The pendant looked like a charm of some sort, with an unusual-looking yellow stone set into its heart, while, on one hand, Petunia saw a gold band, indicating an engagement ring, which she also noted on the hand of the newcomer's companion.

A stern, but strong-willed man with darkest-red hair that could have been described as auburn, and a pair of amber-brown-coloured eyes that began flitting around the room before Petunia could get a word out. Unlike the woman, the man was dressed in a long, flowing, tan-coloured trenchcoat, which he wore over a set of dark-coloured, loose-fitting clothing. Like her, he too wore a pendant around his neck, with a claw-like charm at the end, and a blue stone set into the top of the charm.

"So much for getting permission," said the man, his voice as strong as his looks, while his companion just scowled.

"I'll handle the fallout when they ask, Dante! This is my nephew, for crying out loud! And they just…they just dumped him here…like a parcel…he has to be…what? Four years old, by now?"

"Yes, ma'am."

Suddenly, even Petunia gasped while her two new companions spun around to see a shy, but surprised-looking Harry Potter standing in the doorway, clutching an almost-empty glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice, as well as ice, which clinked loudly as the boy seemed both frightened and in awe of the newcomers.

"Harry…" gasped the woman, her eyes wider than wide as she exclaimed, "Dear God…look at you; you've gotten so big now…you probably don't even remember me, do you?"

"Aunt…Auntie Rosie?" asked the boy, earning another gasp, and a nod, from the redhaired woman, before she bent down, keeping her distance from the child, as she opened her arms invitingly.

"That's right…so clever too…come here, sweetheart; let me have a look at you…"

Even though it had, obviously, been a while since the small boy had seen the taller woman, Petunia was both surprised, and relieved, to notice Harry didn't seem to fear Rose or her companion, and fiancé, Dante Vale. Instead, the boy ran right into her arms, earning a soft, tearful laugh from Rose, while Dante and Petunia both had to wipe tears from their own eyes as they saw the small boy holding onto his distant relative for dear life.

"Please…please don't abandon me…" whimpered Harry, earning another tearful look from Rose, while Dante scowled.

"Never!" growled the dark-haired man, before he turned to Petunia, who just nodded, as Dante added, "Now he's closer; I see why you called us so quickly, Petunia. No doubt, as his direct blood kin, Rose can sense it too, but, even with me, I can sense the power radiating off of him…it's one of the most-powerful signatures I've felt, let alone in one so young…"

"It…it must be the wizard blood in him," said Rose, holding Harry on her hip as she turned to her fiancé, "You…you and Guggenheim both said time and time again that Wizards and Seekers might share a strong connection because they can both use magic, but Wizard-born Seekers, like me, like my nephew and, unless she's basically gone Obscurus on the stuff, like Lily too; we have a much stronger, more-potent centre than most Seekers."

"Then, there's the other bit about you, love," replied Dante, reaching past Rose to tousle Harry's hair; to Petunia's relief, the boy took to it with a warm, kind smile as he leaned into the touch, while Dante continued.

"After all, you, Lily and Petunia are the last children of the legendary Casterwill Dynasty; the blood and power of the Original Seekers flows in you and, now, clearly, it flows in Harry too. This must be why Petunia contacted us: without the proper training and care, Harry might become as dangerous a power as the Legendary Titans themselves."

"But…but I…I don't have any power, Uncle Dante," argued Harry, earning a surprised look from Dante – whom he was certain had never actually introduced himself to the boy, and yet, Harry not only identified him for who he was, but addressed him like the kin that he was – while the small boy sniffled as he buried his head against the crook of Rose's neck as he whimpered, "That…that's why Daddy…why he…he said I…I was no longer his…his…his son…because I…I'm…I'm no better than…than a…a Squib…"

"Well, not surprisingly, your Daddy is completely, unrelentingly, absolutely, positively, undeniably and reliably WRONG, little Seeker," argued Rose, actually snarling out the last part as she brushed Harry's tears from his eyes before she kissed him on his brow, right where a faint, but still-visible lightning-bolt shaped birthmark was located.

As she kissed the mark with genuine familial love and affection, Rose smiled at Harry's curious, but also disbelieving look, before she went on in a soft, warm voice, "Your Auntie Rose and Uncle Dante know he's wrong…because we can feel your power, sweetie…and, by the Gods of Old and New…and all the Legendary Titans…it's powerful magic, Harry-love…far more powerful than your stupid, dumbo Daddy could tell."

"But…but then why…"

"My guess is, for the same reason Lily was convinced to sever all ties with Rose and Petunia some years ago, son," answered Dante, though not before he saw a look of shock cross Harry's face.

It took Dante only a moment to realise what he'd called Harry; at the same time, he saw Rose turn her eyes on him, a mixture of pleading and silent demanding – aka the look no fiancé or husband wanted to see from their respective other, as it left zero room for arguments – in her almost-heterochromic eyes as she held Harry in her arms.

Fortunately, Dante Vale was no fool.

"Harry," said Dante, now moving where the boy could see him, so those bright green eyes – the colour of which reminded Dante of a particular curse that both he and Rose had studied vehemently, so they knew how to best it, if not avoid facing it altogether – were looking into his amber-brown ones, while he smiled softly at his nephew.

"I'll tell you what: let's make a deal…you let us, your Auntie Rosie and me, as well as my friends, you let us teach you this great power, how to use it, how to make it better and keep it all yours…and, in return, if it's what you want most…and if it'll help you deal with the hurt that James has put on you…then, if you really want to, son, you can call us your new Mummy and Daddy, okay?"

He'd have had less luck offering an all-you-can-eat buffet to a starving man, as was evident by how Harry practically flew from Rose's arms and into Dante's, sobbing profusely as he gasped, "Yes…yes…yes, please, Uncle Dante! Please teach me…I'll be a good boy…the bestest boy ever for…for you and Auntie Rosie…please teach me and…and I'll be a bestest-best-behaved son ever! I promise…I swear…I vow…please…"

"All right, calm down, little Seeker," smiled Rose, stroking her soon-to-be-adoptive son's dark hair fondly while she silently thanked – and, in a manner befitting her soon-to-be wife situation, also congratulated – Dante for recognising what it was that she herself had considered ever since they'd set foot in Number Four.

As the boy turned his eyes on her, Rose kissed his cheek, before she cheekily licked his tears away, making him giggle, while she addressed him.

"All we ask is that you do the best you can with all you have, Harry…no…actually, from now on, we'll reserve Harry for close friends and family; to the rest of them…you're going to be…Harrison…what do you think?"

"Harrison…Vale?" asked Harry, earning a soft laugh from Dante.

"Normally, that is the tradition, but since your Auntie-now-Mummy is a member of a very special family, we've decided to keep her name when we get married, so, in reality, your name, little warrior, will become Harrison Casterwill…or Casterwill-Vale, if you want to get technical!"

"Harrison…Cass…Ca…Cass-ter-will?" asked the infant, again surprising – and making them proud at the same time – Dante and Rose with how quickly he managed to take to his new name and say it so well.

"That's right," said Rose, before she smiled softly as she stroked her soon-to-be-adoptive son's cheek, "What do you think, sweetie? Do you like the way that sounds?"

Harrison Casterwill could only nod in response, before he proceeded to hug both his newly-adoptive parents as he revelled in the fact that, after all the screaming from former Mummy and Daddy, and all the showing off from them because Jaime had done something miraculous, he was still able to have a real family.

One that would help him become the greatest Seeker – whatever that was – and Wizard that he could be.

Although, even as Rose and Dante thanked Petunia for the quick notice, as well as her help, neither of them noticed that the small boy did not make a silent promise to himself.

One that said he would become the greatest Seeker-Wizard he could be.

And then, he would make Lily and James Potter beg for his forgiveness when he proved to them just how wrong they were to cast him out, leave him alone in an unknown place and think nothing would happen to him.

Payback, as his beloved Uncle Padfoot would have said – before he 'went off on a long trip' as Lily and James put it – would be a bitch!

Harrison Dante Casterwill – as he decided was his new name – would make sure of that…

Wow, talk about a cute, but also dramatic start: Harry has been cast out into the cold, but a new source of warmth now awaits him as Harrison Dante Casterwill: how might the new-and-improved Harry get some measure of revenge on his forsaken family?

Also, are Rose and Dante right about just how powerful a Seeker, Wizard and Seeker-Wizard Harrison has it within him to be?

AN: Portrayals

Rose Casterwill – Charlize Theron

Dante Vale – Jake Gyllenhaal

(I know Dante was a canon Huntik character, but when I come up with portrayals, I'm imagining live-action counterparts and…well, something about this one got me thinking yeah, that could work.)
