They landed outside a brick house in London. Number twelve Grimmauld Place was a place that Teddy had visited a few times. Harry still owned the house, however he rarely used it. He could never shake the unsettling feeling that Sirius had been kept a prisoner in here.
"This is your flat," Teddy asked Tonks, confused.
"No," responded Tonks in a whisper, "my Mum and Dad don't know about this, so keep quiet." She paused. "I would assume that you would have heard about the Order of the Phoenix?"
Teddy nodded.
"Good. Well there's probably some people who may be able to help you out in here," explained Tonks as she opened the front door and ushered Teddy inside.
The house was darker and scarier than Teddy last remembered. House Elves' heads hung on the wall; Harry must've taken them down when he had inherited the house.
"Hello Tonks," said a voice from up the stairs. Teddy looked up and saw his Dad descending the stairs towards them. "Who's this?"
"This is going to sound bizarre," Tonks started. She placed a hand on Teddy's shoulder, "this is my son."
"You're right, that does sound bizarre," said Remus, puzzled. "When did this happen exactly?"
"Right, yeah, let me explain that," said Tonks. "This is Teddy. He had a mishap with a time turner which landed him fourteen years in the past. He won't be born for another three years."
"Huh," said Remus. He was clearly at a loss for words, but Teddy could not help but notice a pained expression that crossed his face for a brief moment.
"Oh and it gets better ," continued Tonks before pausing briefly, "he's your son too."
Remus grew so pale that Teddy thought he was able to see every vein running through his body. The pink scars that ran along his body were more prominent than ever.
"What," Remus asked, almost inaudible.
"Probably could've braced you for that better, but yeah...this is our son Teddy," explained Tonks.
Hearing those words a second time made Remus grow even more pale- a feat Teddy never thought possible.
"No," said Remus. "I can't- I wouldn't..."
Teddy flipped off his hat and removed the photo once again and handed it to his dad. Remus took it from him, slowly. He looked at it for a few moments before nodding and handing it back to Teddy.
"When were you born exactly," asked Remus, looking down at the ground.
"April 1998," responded Teddy. There was a long pause as Remus, still looking at his shoes, looked to be trying to process everything. "I'm not a werewolf, by the way, if that's what you're worried about."
Remus finally looked back up to him, "you're not?"
Teddy shook his head, "it's not hereditary."
Remus smiled- a real, genuine smile- before pulling Teddy into a hug. His body tensed for a moment before he melted into it; it just felt so warm and comforting; it felt like a missing piece in Teddy's life was being filled.
"Why don't we go down the kitchen," Remus suggested. "I'll make us all some tea."
Remus stepped back to allow Teddy and Tonks to lead the way down to the kitchen. He couldn't wipe the smile from his face; he finally had what he had wanted most.
Remus cleared his throat from behind Teddy, "we are going to have to figure out how to get him home though."
Teddy's heart sank; he forgot that this was temporary; that he was going to have to leave them again.
"Bigger problem first," said Tonks, pausing as they reached the bottom of the stairs, right outside the kitchen. "He had a friend with him."
"A friend," asked Remus. "That went back in time with him?"
"We don't know," said Tonks. "She was in the room with him when the time turner broke, but we don't know where she went to; if she even went back at all. Teddy appeared in my parents' living room, so I would think that she would appear with him."
Teddy pushed the door opened before almost being tackled by someone. It took him a moment to realize that that someone was Victoire.
"Thank Merlin," she cried, not letting go of him. "I had no idea where you were! I thought you were in a completely different century!"
"Me? I thought you were in another century!"
"So this is Teddy," said a male voice from behind Vic. Teddy finally let her go and looked over her shoulder to see a younger Bill and Fleur Weasley. Bill gave him a courteous head nod, " 'M Bill Weasley."
Teddy gave him a quick smile, "I'm Teddy Lupin."
Fleur chuckled, "a Lupin?"
Teddy gave her another awkward smiling before removing his baseball cap, ruffling his turquoise hair, and placing the hat on the table. Bill was the one to laugh this time, "and a Tonks too, apparently."
"What about me," asked Tonks as she and Remus finally entered the kitchen.
"We were justing being introduced to your...son," said Fleur.
Tonks snorted, "weird isn't it? I take it the blonde girl is yours?"
"This is Victoire," Teddy said to his mother. He looked to his friend and saw her complete and utterly shocked expression. He elbowed her in the side which seemed to knock her out of whatever trance she was under.
"Hi," she said sheepishly, her cheeks turning pink.
"Well, they're together at least," said Bill. "Where did you end up, Teddy?"
"I was at my grandmu-...parents'- grandparents' house," Teddy replied. "Why were Vic and I split up?"
"We're not too sure of that," said Remus.
"Taken to your parents," suggested Bill. "Vic appeared right next to Fleur and I."
"I wasn't at my parents' when Teddy showed up; he was there when I got there after work," explained Tonks. "Victoire ending up with you two makes sense, but Teddy just...ended up in my parents empty living room."
"Not to completely deviate from the conversation topic, but how did you and Fleur verify Victoire's story. Teddy has a photo, but I was just curious," said Remus.
"Veritaserum," said Fleur.
"You gave a child Veritaserum," asked Remus, flabbergasted.
"We didn't! Professor Snape just barged in here and gave it to her without anyone's consent," said Bill. "She's nine; she can make that decision for herself, and I'm her...father!"
The kitchen door opened again, and a man with black hair, pale skin, and a glass of fire whiskey in his hand walked into the room. Teddy received another shocked look from Victoire as they both immediately recognized this man as Sirius Black.
He looked at the other inhabitants of the room, puzzled, "whose children our these?"
"The boy's mine and Tonks' son, and the girl's Bill's and Fleur's daughter," Remus explained calmly.
Sirius merely looked at the glass in his hand, "how much of this have I drunk tonight?"
"Quite a lot," said Remus, taking the glass from his friend's hand, "I think it's probably a good time for you to go to bed." He turned back to Tonks, "you may want to show the children to an empty room; Victoire looks like she's about to fall asleep standing up."
" 'M fine,' mumbled Vic.
"Come on," said Tonks, gently grabbing Teddy by the arm; he took a sharp breath. "Fleur and I will put you to bed. Bill, why don't you contact Dumbledore."
"Snape said he was going to-in a way," Fleur told Tonks as she walked closer to where she stood.
"That makes no difference, still contact Dumbledore, Bill," said Tonks. Bill gave her a thumbs up before she and Fleur led the two children up the stairs. Teddy did not realize how tired he actually was, until he climbed under the sheets of a bed in one of the spare-doxie free-rooms.
"Goodnight both of you," said Fleur as Tonks waved her wand and extinguished all of the room's lights.
