Chapter 4: Great Mass of Color
I feel them all
Great mass of color
Flooded in my bed
I feel them all
Great mass of color
Flooded in my bed
Dissolving into red
Aubrey laid down in the sand in the park, staring up at the sky. All that accompanied her was the pattering of rain and the gray clouds overhead. Not even the old hobo was there. After a half hour, she got up, dusted the sand off of her clothes and hair, then she began walking over to the plaza. She swung her bat around without a care in the world. All was still, all was beautiful. As she exited the park, she looked out at the crossroads and saw Kim and Vance walking towards Basil's house. She thought about joining them for a minute, but she ultimately decided to go to the plaza as she had intended.
She walked over to the fountain, then she looked down to see her own reflection. A smile completed her surprisingly gentle expression. She took out a coin, then she threw it into the fountain. After doing so, she decided to just walk around. All of the cars that normally littered the parking lot were absent. The rain began to pour, but she remained undisturbed. It was cold, yes, but it wasn't really a problem. She skipped around the parking lot, swinging her bat rather gracefully, almost like a dance. All was peaceful.
Soon, the rain cleared, and as she looked up at the sky, she saw a rainbow. Each color was distinct and easy to see. Even the purple was clear as day. She couldn't help but smile at that. It was as if Mari herself sent a sign to her telling her that everything was okay. She skipped over to the shops, making sure to be careful enough not to trip or fall. She grabbed the handle of Hobbeez' door, and she walked inside. She smiled at the shopkeep and the colorful girl as she entered. The sound of a calming melody played over the speakers. She walked over to the register and looked at the display of the music player. Listed there was the name of a song called "Great Mass of Color".
Afterword-
Sorry that I haven't posted a chapter in a bit, I had a mental breakdown a few days ago and decided to just take a break from everything I've been working on and mostly everyone I was talking to. I had completely different plans for this chapter, but I decided to save that for next chapter and to just write something short, sweet, calm, and happy. I hope that's alright.
I've been checking to see how the story's doing, and seeing just how many people have been reading it is so incredible. Thank you all so much, especially if you've read this far into the story. It means the world to me, and I hope to get everything back on schedule here.
