Name: Ashlen Stacy
Age: 19
Looks: messy brown hair that goes past her shoulders, bright blue eyes, thin
Family: Mother Brie and Father Hector.
Likes: Singing, animals, nature, being left alone
Dislikes: Most people, when space is invaded, crying in front of others, being pitied, being called freak or pet, Prometheus Black, her parents and, to an extent, herself.
Personality: Prier to what happened to her at nine years old, Ashlen was a rather shy but otherwise nice and happy little girl. After what happened she became untrusting, angry, scared, sarcastic, depressed and volatile. In short she is an emotional mess and has had more than a few meltdowns when recalling the events that lead her to this state. While she does not actively attempt to hurt herself, she can be quiet destructive to her environment whilst in one of her meltdowns. She's developed not only a hatred towards those who hurt her but to an extension herself as well. The only time she's 'happy' is when left completely alone or listening to music; and even than it's more of a contentment than true happiness.
Past:
Ashlen was diagnosed with a genetic disease when she was nine years old. One which would get worse with age. In a desperate attempt to get ahead of it, her parents went to several different doctors looking for help. None of them could as, since the disease wasn't developed enough, trying to treat it in that state would only make things worse. Eventually they came across an ad in the papers that Prometheus made asking for volunteers.
While he had been adamantly against the idea at first, a combination of the parent's begging for help and the possibilities it could bring to his research was too much for him to pass up. So he agreed, but only under the condition Ashlen stayed with him so he could keep a close eye on her, in case anything went wrong. It was like this with all of his volunteers. Her parents were allowed to visit but she wasn't allowed to leave.
Since as Ashlen was still a child, one who had yet to undergo maturity, Prometheus knew that the risks in doing too much could be astronomical. In attempt to diminish these risks, he decided to try his hand at gene slicing, using several animals to do so. It worked. Though it took three months to do so, whatever sickness the little girl had vanished. But not without consequences. Somewhere along the line, Prometheus used a combination of chemicals, or two or more mixed within her, and caused a unexpected side effect. The ability to transform. Specifically into the animals which DNA were used to 'cure' her. Obviously amazed by his accidental accomplishment, he attempted to do more experiments to figure out just how he did it. However, before he could do much, Ashlen managed to escape.
Managing to find her way back home, her parents were shocked to learn what happened. Before much could happen, however, Prometheus showed up with a promise to fix things and an apology. As well as a very large amount of money. Though very upset at what had transpired with their daughter the parents reluctantly agreed. That he could turn her to normal and tried to coax her into going back with him. Ashlen didn't. She was both fearful and hated Prometheus. The experiments done to her while under his care had been painful and, no matter how much she begged, she was never allowed to go home. So she refused, heartbroken her parents didn't believe her and wanted her to go back with him. It was hearing her father call her a little freak that broke her completely, however, and she ran away.
Ever since then, Ashlen has never been home or seen her parents again. For the next three years she lived off the street and kindness of others who'd take her in for the night. Given she was still a little girl, however, more than often the cops would be called on her. Being reported as a run away didn't help matters and she'd always run before being taken into custody. It wasn't until she was eleven years old that she lost all trust in people completely and, since then, took care of herself. Between the age of twelve and thirteen, she manged to make her way to The Sister Island, which would later be dubbed Dino-Island, and has been living there ever since.
Additional info:
The animals used in the gene slicing were rabbit, hawk and a jungle cat. With all three, Ashlen's sense of hearing, sight and speed were all enhanced tenfold. As well as her sense of smell. Changing her into a transforming organic really had been a complete and honest mistake, though. Said transformations were also extremely painful for the first three years she attempted any of them, some of which were done instinctively. It also took just as long to master those forms, teaching herself how to fly and walk on all fours. After three years the sensation became more of a tug that she could ignore. Out of all the three forms she can change into, she favors the hawk and jungle cat the most.
Up until experiments started with Prometheus Black, Ashlen actually never knew she had a genetic disease. Let alone which one it had been. Though it was hard, her parents managed to get her tested without her knowing why. Her parents did this in a misguided attempt to protect her. Even in present times she still has no idea what her disease had been. Nor does she know that her grandmother apparently suffered from the same thing, which had been a motivation for her parents getting her help. For a time she had been curious to what it could have been, and still kind of is, but never managed to find out. When she was younger her parents tried to keep it from her and, after running away, she had no way of finding out.
Her hatred of being called 'pet' derives from her time in Prometheus's care. Due to both being his youngest 'volunteer' and things going well with her, he dubbed her his 'pet project.' A name she only grew more hateful of when her shape shifting abilities became evident. Regardless of intentions, if anyone were to call her that now, she wouldn't hold back expressing just how much she doesn't like it. Her hatred for being called a freak, on the other hand, both derives from what her father said and feeling like one. It is a sensitive subject and, as much as she dislikes people, being a freak is something she'll never think of them.
In order to survive once she started to live on her own, Ashlen resorted to stealing. Mostly in the dead of night. Using her animal forms made it easier but managing to carry all the stuff without being caught had been a challenge. Over the years she had gotten better, and got access to dark clothes to help her blend in better. She'd only steal what she both needed and could carry in her talons as a hawk back to the island. In which she used the abandon laboratory to live in. Five years before the Dino-bots came to live on the island themselves.
Hector Stacy's "Little Freak" comment that resulted in Ashlen running away wasn't actually directed towards her. Rather, in his anger, he was shouting at Prometheus for turning her into one. Both him and his wife loved their daughter dearly. Neither of them meant to hurt her and they fought hard to find her once she ran away. This accumulated in both making many police reports as well as physically looking for her themselves. A few times they were successful but never for long before Ashlen would disappear once again.
That's all I can think of without getting into the smaller details. If anyone reading this would like to know more or have clarification, let me know and I'll add pinpoints
