Thank you guys so much for your constant support! It's hard to believe how close we are to 50 reviews! :D
Hufflepuff24: Hey, I just noticed your question about wanting a Hamilton fanfic. Are we talking like Descendants/Hamilton crossover or just Hamilton?
Hope you guys enjoy the chapter! Let me know what you think! :D
It was nighttime before they were able to leave Auradon for the Isle. Sure enough Lonnie had found out and had insisted on joining the fray—something Evie had been slightly thrilled about as it gave her another chance to design some Isle clothes.
Sure the gym outfit was fine, but was it really a smart idea to wear something with Auradon Prep on the side when they were going to the Isle? They were trying to blend in after all.
"Alright, Lonnie, Ben, rules of the Isle," Jay said as they made their way to Ben's car, Dean having worked his magic and gotten them a remote for the barrier. Somehow, and they weren't sure how, Doug was able to keep Emir and Akiho from finding out about this.
They could only hope the school would still be standing when they got back.
"Shotgun!" Dude shouted before Jay could continue.
"Did Dude just…?" Evie asked, staring at Carlos in concerned confusion.
"Talk? Yeah," Carlos nodded. "Mal made a truth gummy for me and Dude ate it. Fun fact, when dogs eat truth gummies, dogs gain the ability to talk."
"Why did you need a truth gummy?"
"Any way to fix it?" Jay asked, ignoring Ben's question.
"I'll tell you when we get our resident magic user back and we can find out," Carlos told him. "But for now, Dude, stay. I mean it. The Isle's far too dangerous for a small dog like you, last thing I want is for you to become Sykes' dobermans' dinner. Or worse, my mother actually makes you into earmuffs like she threatened to on the call before Family Day."
"Aww!"
"You can sleep on Jay's bed," Carlos told him.
"Woo hoo!" Dude grinned and ran back into the castle. Carlos shook his head in amusement at the retreating canine before climbing into Ben's car.
"Why my bed?" Jay asked.
"Apparently it's bigger than mine," Carlos said. "And you were telling our favorite Auradonians the rules of the Isle before Dude so rudely interrupted you?"
"Oh right," Jay nodded. "Keep your hands in your pockets unless you're stealing something, you either slouch or strut, and never ever smile. No thank you's, no please, no sorries. Just…just chill."
"Like a villain," Carlos added with a small smirk as the three VKs shared a knowing look.
"I feel like I'm out of the loop," Lonnie said.
"There's a song Anastasia Tremaine came up with for the young kids of the Isle," Evie said. "The ones who somehow still kept their innocence. It's a way for them to avoid becoming targets without giving up that innocence but that's a story for another day. Ben, when we get across the bridge, I want you to park under the old pier. I'll tell you where to go."
"Got it," Ben nodded and made the drive in silence. He couldn't help but wonder what Mal would be like when he saw her again. Would she still be upset from their fight or would she be happy to see him?
Would she be shocked to see him in Isle garb? It wasn't much—a pair of blue pants, a brown shirt and a blue beanie he borrowed from Jay. Evie wanted to include a jacket but it was kiboshed at the last minute when Carlos pointed out the Beast insignia on both the right pocket and the entire back of the jacket was pretty much a target for daggers to be thrown at Ben.
Not exactly something they wanted considering this was supposed to be a simple go in, get Mal, get out.
They made their way over to the Isle and quickly started covering up the car. Ben sighed as he could feel his ring pressing against the fabric of his pants. It was the only thing of value the VKs had permitted him to bring—though to be fair, Evie also left behind her coin purse.
Anything that could cause others to recognize them had been left in Auradon.
"Okay, it's okay," Evie muttered to herself as she grabbed the tarp. "Guys, I don't need to tell you how important it is that our parents do not find out that we're here."
"Or anyone else for that matter," Carlos added. "We could probably reach out to Harriet Hook if it was an emergency considering she was fairly neutral when we were here but other than that…"
"Right," Jay nodded. "We'll get Mal back."
We have to. Otherwise…I'm in a crew with no captain, he thought as he led the way to their old clubhouse. He shook his head slightly, he couldn't afford to think like that.
"Okay, you and I'll go up to the clubhouse," he told Ben. "Lon, E, and 'Los, you guys stand guard. Give a holler up if there's trouble."
"Got it Jay," Carlos nodded.
Jay smirked as he picked up a rock and threw it at the 'flying rocks' sign and sighed as the familiar sound of the gate opening rang out. He was home.
He'd tried to deny how much he'd missed the Isle, with the shade of the clouds from the barrier always present and being able to just swipe whatever he wanted. The fact that Auradon just expected him to flip on a dime in just six months was a little messed up.
To say nothing about Mal, who was forced into the spotlight after spending sixteen years of her life in the shadows. Jay hadn't been sure how to approach her about it so he pretended everything was fine for him.
He thought maybe if Mal saw him doing okay, she might come to him, even if it was just to rant about the fact that he gave into Chad Charming's stupid insistence of not having Lonnie on the R.O.A.R. team. Granted it was a stupid thought but they'd been friends since they were five and six respectively.
Jay was Mal's person just like Mal was his.
Jay and Ben ran up the stairs only to pause when they reached the top as Jay saw Harry sitting in the couch in the clubhouse; looking over his shoulder with a smirk on his face.
"Well 'ello Jay," he said, the smirk still present. That seemed to be the thing to snap Jay out of his shock as he stormed over to the couch and knocked the raven haired boy off of it. Before Harry had a chance to recover, Jay picked up him and shoved him against the wall.
"I thought Mal and I told you this wasn't your territory anymore," he growled. "I'd be happy to refresh your memory if you've forgotten."
"Oh Jay I'm hurt," Harry taunted. "Let's just say I'm here to pass along an invitation."
"What are you prattling about Hook?"
"Jay, who is he?" Ben asked, looking around in confusion as if trying to find a sign of Mal. "For that matter, where's Mal?"
"Why Jay, you don't talk about me with your new friends? I'm hurt. As for Mal…let's just say she's catching up with some old friends," Harry said with a smirk.
"What. Did. You. Do. To. Mal? You one handed useless traitor!" Jay growled.
The smirk slid off of Harry's face as he glared at Jay. "Remember which one of us is the reason Mal's still here Jay because it certainly wasn't you."
"You certainly remembered that when you stabbed her in the back! Now for the last time where is she?"
Harry smirked. "Oh we nicked her. Uma wanted to talk. Guess Mal's gone soft those six months in Boreadon because she went out like a light."
"Really? Cause that bandage indicates she fought back," Jay said, seeing the makeshift bandage stick out from under Harry's coat sleeve.
"I'm sorry, but you nicked Mal?" Ben asked.
"Exactly," Harry nodded before turning to Jay. "And if you want to see her again, come to the Chip Shoppe. Alone. Uma wants a little visit."
Jay growled but let go of Harry's jacket. "Get out," he told him.
Harry smirked as he sauntered down the steps of the clubhouse. Jay shook his head as he heard Harry bark—Carlos probably tried to stop Harry from leaving considering this was their territory.
"Jay, what are we going to do?" Ben exclaimed.
"Just give me a minute," Jay told him. "Uma may be sneaky but they won't hurt Mal. Not while she's a bargaining chip."
"Jay, what the hell was Hook doing here?" Carlos shouted as he, Evie, and Lonnie came running up the steps. "Also, can we spread the word that barking at me isn't going to do anything?"
"Bigger problems Carlos," Jay sighed. "Uma's got Mal."
"What?!"
"You heard me. Now hush up. I'm trying to think."
Jay sighed and shook his head, lightly punching the back of the sofa as he tried to think. Unfortunately there was only one thing he could think of.
"Alright. You lot stay here. I'm going over to scope this out. Uma clearly wants something if she's using Mal as bait," Jay said as he made his way to the door.
"Jay, you can't seriously be going off by yourself?"
"What if one of our parents catch you?"
"Hook stated that if we want to see Mal again, I show up at the Chip Shoppe alone. You guys watch Ben and Lonnie. If Hook got it once, he'll get in last thing we need are those three getting their hands on Ben or Lonnie on top of having Mal," Jay said, his face darkening in anger as he headed down the stairway.
He made his way down the stairs and over a well familiar path toward Ursula's Chip Shoppe though he hadn't been there in years. He sighed before pushing his way through the swinging doors.
"Where is she?" Jay growled.
"Loser, party of one. Right this way," Uma said with a smirk. She'd made her way from the ship just for this moment. Harry was currently guarding Mal—with Jake and Dustin as back up.
After what she walked in on when they were thirteen, there was no way Uma trusted Mal not to try to pull a fast one to escape. King for a boyfriend or not. Plus Harry was quick to give into a pair of flirty eyes—his non stop flirting with Ginny Gothel was a prime example of that.
"I'm not in the mood for games Uma. Where. Is. Mal?" Jay said, the growl still audible in his voice.
"The Princess is fine Jay, don't worry your pretty little head over it," Uma said, the smirk still present on her face.
"That's not an answer Uma," Jay snapped. "What the hell do you even think you're doing, nicking Mal like this? What. Do. You. Want?!"
"It's simple really," Uma said as she sat down, resting her arm on the table between them. "You beat me, Mal's free to go back to her perfect little life while the rest of us continue on living year twenty of a garbage strike. But if I win…"
"You really think you can beat me in an arm wrestling match? Remember Uma, I'm the muscle," Jay scoffed as he sat.
"Maybe, but how often have you had to be the muscle over in Boreadon?" Uma asked. "Bet you've gone soft Jay."
Jay shook his head and rested his arm on the table. "On three. One…two…three!"
The two of them moved, neither one of them making any progress in pinning the other arm down. While Jay was normally the muscle, he wasn't as experienced in the art of arm wrestling as Mal was.
"You know that whole 'Princess' act with Mal? Never bought it for a second. You can dress a villain up all you want but they'll always be a villain," Uma said with a chuckle. "I think you'll find Mal looks much different than the last time you saw her Jay."
"Yeah well Uma, you can slap a pirate hat on you but you'll always be Shrimpy and a traitor," Jay snapped back, trying to focus on winning this ridiculous arm wrestling match. He'd do it though. To get Mal back.
"Who are you calling a traitor?" Uma growled. "You know as well as I do what really happened that day Jay!"
"Yeah well you weren't exactly quick to tell Mal the truth the next day when she was dumping rotten shrimp tails on you!"
Uma grit her teeth, trying to hide the slight flash of hurt she felt at the memory. The last time her co-captain spoke to her without the use of that nickname. The day their friendship had officially died.
"You never told her did you? Mal still believes a lie," she hissed.
"Oh like she'll believe anything you say after you kidnapped her!" Jay growled.
"You know what Jay, let's finish this. After all, you don't know what I get if I win," Uma snapped.
"Like you're going to."
"I win…you get me Fairy Godmother's wand," Uma said, her voice low as the idea came to her, and moved her hand to slam down Jay's. As if looking in slow motion, Jay seemed almost unable to keep his hand from being pinned.
It's the fact that she's a Godling, he thought. Even the barrier can't block some of their physical abilities like added strength from what Macaria said.
"Now, you wanna see your precious leader again, you bring me the wand to my ship at 12 noon sharp," Uma smirked as she stood up. She was going to do what Mal never could—steal the wand and take down the barrier.
"To…Mal hasn't been around the docks since we were nine Uma!" Jay exclaimed, still stunned over the fact that Uma had beaten him. That this wasn't going to be a go in, get Mal, get out mission after all.
"And if all goes well, no harm will have to come to her," Uma said as she walked away.
Jay growled slightly. "You sneaky squidling! And you wanted me to tell Mal the truth when you're holding her hostage!"
"Keep your end of the deal Jay and I'll keep mine. I have no plans to harm my bargaining chip," Uma told him as she headed into the kitchen.
Jay snarled as he sprang from his chair, knocking it back in a fit of anger. Gods…how were they going to do this?
I'm so sorry Mal…Gods…please be okay, he thought as he made his way back to the clubhouse. He wasn't exactly thrilled to face the others, to tell them that he'd failed.
