Chapter Five

A/N: I do not own anything other than my OCs when they come out to play. Everything else belongs to Disney.

*flushes in embarrassment* Okay so I know I've gotten some questions about my stuff on Ao3 says 'orphan account' where my user name had been. Well to make a long story short, my account got suspended for 30 days and I couldn't even let anyone know what was going on. I didn't want to have all my stories go dark for 30 days so in a moment of weakness I deleted my account but orphaned my stories so they'd still be read.

Believe me I now regret this and have requested a new invite. Unfortunately it won't be here until 8/8. So until then, I'll keep FFN and Wattpad updated.

Hope you all enjoy this chapter! Let me know what you think! :D

"There is no way we can just give Uma the wand! We can't let her destroy Auradon!" Evie exclaimed as she paced around the clubhouse.

"I'm sorry, can we be more focused on the fact that she has Mal?! Frankly Evie, I don't really care about Auradon right now!" Ben exclaimed, sitting on the sofa. "And yeah I know I'm the King and I should but I just keep thinking about the last thing I said to Mal before all of this! What if that's the last time—?"

"And we're not going to talk like that Ben," Lonnie said firmly.

"We're going to get Mal back," Jay growled, his hands curling into fists as he thought about his best friend being in Uma's clutches.

"But how?" Evie asked. "We can't just give Uma Fairy Godmother's wand!"

Jay sighed, Evie had a point. But at the same time they couldn't just give up Mal either…

"Hang on," Lonnie said as she stood up and looked at Jay. "Uma never said we had to give her the actual wand. Just that we had to give her Fairy Godmother's wand."

"A copy!" Jay nodded, catching on to what Lonnie was saying. "Carlos, can your 3D printer make a copy of Fairy Godmother's wand?"

"I could do that in my sleep," Carlos nodded as he stood up and Jay nodded.

"Okay so Carlos and Lonnie, go back to Auradon and make that fake wand…what is it Evie?"

Out of the corner of his eye, Jay'd noticed Evie biting her lip. Whether in disapproval or worry, he didn't know but he was going to figure out what was bugging the girl.

"…There might be another way…" Evie said softly.

"What do you mean?" Jay asked, looking over at Evie.

"Mal…Mal does have one other ally. Someone with a bit more power than us," Evie said. "Someone who also won't try to kill us upon seeing us."

"Who? And how do you know who it is?" Jay asked. "I've been friends with Mal since she was five!"

"I know because I have an eye for things like small details," Evie told him. "And you may have been friends since you were five Jay but I don't think Mal's ever told you about her father."

Carlos and Jay froze as if they'd been struck by Elsa's ice magic. Even Ben and Lonnie paused as if they were curious but didn't want to be caught eavesdropping.

"Her…her father?" Carlos asked.

"Mal doesn't have a father," Jay said, shaking his head. "The only adult male in her life is Lord Hades but that was just because she was his errand rat when we were kids. She stopped doing that when she was six though."

"Yes Jay. Lord Hades has been the father figure in her life. This is the Isle, think about the reason Hades might do that."

Jay frowned as he thought for a moment. "Mal must have set up an alliance with him or something."

"Yes…an alliance made in blood," Evie said but sighed as neither one of the boys seemed to get it. "Lord Hades is Mal's father!"

Carlos and Jay's jaws dropped and in all honesty, Ben and Lonnie's jaws weren't that far behind.

"What?!" Jay exclaimed once he was able to find his voice once more.

"Yep," Evie said with a nod of her head.

"Why did she never say anything?"

Evie sighed and shook her head.

"Jay, do we really have time for this?" Ben asked with a small sigh of his own. "Now is not the time to debate the likelihood of Mal's family tree. We need to talk to him, see if he'll help us get Mal back. Carlos, you and Lonnie go back to Auradon and make that decoy wand. Jay, you, me, and Evie will go to Lord Hades' lair and see if he'll help us."

"But…we only took the one car…that'll trap you on the Isle…"

"So you drive it there and drive it back."

"I can't drive."

"I could not have been more clearly talking to Lonnie there, 'Los."

Lonnie chuckled. "You can count on me Jay."

"Oh and Lonnie," Jay said, lowering his voice as he walked Lonnie off to the side. "If you can, see if you can grab more people than just yourself and Carlos. I know Uma and she won't hurt Mal…yet. But if this turns into a fight we're going to need more than just the five people we have here. Hook and his Warf Rats make up about seventeen VKs."

"I'm on it Jay," Lonnie nodded and rested an arm on his shoulder. "We'll get Mal back, don't you worry."

Jay nodded and Lonnie gave him a small smile.

Ben sighed and shook his head as he stood up. "Let's move. Now. Guys, come on."

"We're on it Ben," Jay promised before looking at Carlos. "You're going to be alright?"

Carlos nodded. "Mal's more important. Besides, I'll have Lonnie."

"Get going guys," Ben said as he tossed his keys and the remote to the barrier to Lonnie. She caught both and quickly gave Ben a small smile before she and Carlos scurried off to make their way to the car.

Evie sighed. Please forgive me for this M, she thought. After all, she'd promised she'd keep it a secret but Mal was in trouble. It was the best time Evie could think of to break the promise.

"Let's do this," she said as the three of them made their way down the stairs of the clubhouse. "Ben, I…be careful around Lord Hades okay? After all, not only are you dating his daughter but your dad's the reason why he's on the Isle in the first place. We just don't want to have to tell Mal why her boyfriend's now ash if Lord Hades lobs a fireball at you."

Ben sighed. "Mal's worth it."

"Good answer," Jay muttered. After all, he didn't think it was a coincidence that Mal ran back to the Isle right after her date with Ben. But then Jay remembered the look on Ben's face when Harry had said that he'd nicked Mal. That was the look of someone who would stop at nothing to make sure his girlfriend was safe.

"It'll be okay Ben," Evie said, keeping her voice gentle but low at the same time, trying to make sure she wasn't overheard as they continued to walk to Hades' lair. "Lord Hades won't fry you."

'Uh huh. Sure. Sure he won't. I mean, it's not like I'm the reason his daughter ran back to the Isle or anything. No, of course not. Gods, what are we going to do?"

"Ben, breathe."

"Jay, what if something happens to her?"

"Like I said Ben, they won't hurt her. Not while she's a bargaining chip and they're waiting to get what they want."

Ben sighed but nodded as they made their way to the front of Hades' lair. Unfortunately, they reached a slightly unforeseen issue at the gate.

"…it's locked," Ben said, looking at the other two. "Any chance you two have the key?"

"Oh Benny," Jay chuckled and fished a lock picking kit out of his back pocket. "I have the key to about any door on the Isle right here. Just hush up for a bit and let me focus."

Ben nodded and moved aside as Jay began working on the gate. "Let's see here…just a little more…come on…gotcha!"

The gate opened and Jay turned to the others. "Let's go."

Ben and Evie nodded and the three of them made their way inside the tunnel to make their way into Lord Hades' lair.

Okay, Ben thought. I can do this. For Mal. Wait, is that…is that a dog barking?

"Anyone else feeling a bit nervous?" Evie whispered.

"Thank Gods, I thought it was just me," Ben whispered back to her.

However, to their surprise, Jay only smiled. "I think I recognize that bark," he said, his voice soft as they got to Hades' rooms. "Estelle? Boy? That you?"

Estelle? Ben thought but paused as a Cerberus came running up to Jay.

"Hey bud! It's been a while," Jay said with a grin as he crouched down to pet said Cerberus behind the ears. "How've you been?"

"That's so cool!" Ben said, his voice soft but with a grin that threatened to split his face in two.

"He's Mal's," Jay said as he stood back up. "It's been years since I've seen him though. Where's Lord Hades, bud? We need a word."

"Well now Jay, I haven't heard your voice in years," Hades said as he walked up. "I was wondering where Estelle had gone."

Jay gave Hades a slightly timid smile that honestly startled Ben. He had never known Jay of all people to be timid. "It's good to see you again sir."

Hades nodded before looking at Evie and Ben. "Evil Queen's daughter right? And I don't know you."

"I'd be happy to do introductions later my Lord but we have more important matters," Ben said, quickly trying to change the subject before Hades realized who he was and more importantly found out how many ways he could fry a King before said King died.

"It's Mal, Lord Hades," Jay said as Hades continued to stare at Ben. "She's…well there's no easy way to say this. Uma's got her captive."

Hades' eyes narrowed as he heard that. "What's that squidling playing at now?"

"She wants Fairy Godmother's wand," Jay told him.

"Of course she does," Hades sighed.

"We want to get Mal back without giving up the wand Lord Hades," Evie said, her voice soft. "We have a decoy in the works but…but we don't know what Uma's got planned. So we were hoping if you might be able to help?"

Hades sighed. "Mal wouldn't want me fighting her battles for her."

"Every battle needs back up," Ben said.

Hades shook his head before pausing. "I swear you seem familiar somehow…but I've never seen you on the Isle."

"Does it matter?" Ben countered, hoping Hades wouldn't take offense at that and fry him.

"Lord Hades, your daughter is being held captive by Uma. Why do you care about a VK you've never met?" Evie asked. "This is not the time to worry about the fact that Mal made a new ally."

"Still…Mal won't want me there," Hades said as he turned to head back to his chair.

"You were there for her at the docks once. She may not say it but she'll appreciate you being there," Jay said with a small sigh. "And…if Mal's where I think she is, she might appreciate you being there more than you know."

Hades shook his head slightly as he plopped onto his chair. "Uma wouldn't do that…she knows the consequences…"

"Just like we all thought Uma wouldn't take Mal hostage?" Jay asked. "Uma knows the consequences and probably doesn't care."

"In that case we need to get Mal back as fast as possible," Ben said with a small nod and resisted the urge to tap his foot impatiently as Jay looked over at Hades. They were wasting time! Mal needed them now!

Hades sighed. "I can't actively be seen helping, it'll give away the one thing Mal knows to keep secret. I'm still a little amazed that Evil Queen's daughter here knows. But anyway, that being said, try your decoy first. If Uma doesn't hold up her end, call me—it'll work for you three even if you don't have magic. I'll get Mal back."

He handed Jay a small item and Jay nodded, pocketing it in one of the dozens of pockets in his outfit. "We appreciate this Lord Hades…and so will Mal once we get her back."

"What is that?" Evie asked.

"Godly version of your mother's mirror but with a few more tricks. If you all really thought the barrier kept the Fae and the God from using their magic, you're sorely mistaken. It's more about intent than it is keeping us from using our magic at all, even with my brother's reinforcing the barrier. Anyway, I can't exactly give you three my ember. It won't do anything for you and it's too much to risk if you lot are going down to the docks."

"What…what sort of tricks?" Ben asked, his voice soft as part of him didn't want to ask in order to save time but the other part of him was curious.

"Two way communication, teleportation if absolutely necessary, and can show you what you're looking for upon request."

"Could…could it show us Mal?"

"If you asked it to, most likely."

Ben looked over at Jay. "Jay, I…I know we're on a time crunch but…?"

Jay nodded and pulled out the mirror from his pocket. "Evie, how'd you use your mom's mirror again?"

"It's a bit more simple than that," Hades said, taking it from Jay's hands. Looking at his reflection, Hades said, "find Mal."

The mirror swirled for a second and when it came back into focus, an image of Mal tied up on what was clearly a ship came into frame.

"Damnit Uma," Jay growled.

"That's got to be the Lost Revenge right? Uma's ship in Pirate's Cove?" Evie asked.

"Must be," Jay nodded, a slight growl still audible on his voice.

"Is…Is it just me or does Mal look frightened?" Ben asked, his voice soft but he wasn't going to lie, it was good to see Mal with her purple hair again. Blonde looked weird but Ben had told himself it was what Mal had wanted.

"She's been kidnapped Ben. Who wouldn't be?" Evie said, shaking her head.

"It's Mal though! Mal's never frightened! Even when Maleficent crashed my coronation," Ben stated.

Jay frowned slightly; he knew exactly why Mal was frightened and it wasn't because of Uma or Harry. Being on a pirate ship meant being around water after all.

"Let's go," Jay growled.

"But Carlos isn't back yet with the fake wand," Evie said biting her lip.

Didn't he just leave? Ben thought with a small frown.

"Then we scout till he's back! We're getting Mal back!"

Ben nodded firmly in agreement.

"If you're scouting, take Estelle," Hades told them.

"Yes Lord Hades."

Estelle yipped softly and wagged his tail, causing Jay to give the Cerberus a small smile. "Come on boy."

"Good luck," Hades said as Estelle went to go stand by Jay. "I'll be watching."

Jay nodded. "We'll reach out if we need assistance."

It was Hades' turn to nod as the three of them and Estelle turned to leave the lair. And if Hades noticed that the gate to his lair didn't lock, well…who was he going to tell?

If his daughter needed him, he'd be there. No gate could stop him—but an unlocked gate just saved so much time.
